I have got as far as character creation (this is tricky at work, especially with not being able to minimise quickly ;) (Alt+Tab seems to often result in fatal errors)).
What I have seen so far is looking amazing, well done for getting it this far! :D

But will I ever be able to use my full name with the no spacing character rule? :(

wow.. the city is really looking great!
i think this game will really be cool, but we just havent got much to do now.. but heej, its just a tech demo..
only lil bug thing i have is that you can walk trough walls at a moment of lag..
yo can get out of the city then.. (look here to see it: http://members.lycos.co.uk/alcapalis/viewtopic.php?p=17#17 ) but unfortunatly i dont have much lag.. so i cant get there a lot..
well.. keep up the good work! i think it will become really cool

Looks like there is a problem if you are behind a firewall that does NAT.  I reconfigured mine at work to tunnel everything to me and it worked fine.  If the Development team could comment on the ports the game requires to open on the server end, I would be more than happy to put together some documentation on configuring a firewall for use with the game.  I will see if I can figure the ports out from the firewall log as well.  A few thoughts:

Works great on a Athlon 1800 XP, 512 mb ram, with a 64 MB Gforce 2 400 MX and sitting on a T1. :D

I am so used to tab-ing between fields so this would be a nice feature.

Minimize is a must for those who like to test at work ;) .

Everything seems a bit dark (hard to make out facial features of others).  Are there going to be torches in the real thing?

GREAT work development team!

Looks like I may have those firewall problems you spoke of Delmar. Do you or anybody else have tips how I might be able to reconfigure to get around this problem. At the moment I can\'t get any further than character creation :(

I stand corrected on the firewall.  I just went back behind it and connected no problem.  It may be only an issue with uploading a charecter.  Will investigate further.  Stay tooned... Nope I can upload a charecter fine.  As long as your firewall is not specificly blocking outgoing ports and only doing NAT then you should be OK.  Many companys will specificly block outgoing ports to limit what the people can do (ie only allow web and mail access).

OK, looks like the game talks on UDP port 13331.  If this outgoing port is blocked (will probably be in most company settings that have a firewall) then your out of luck - unless you know the administator ;)

Here are some SS of what I\'m getting. It isn\'t exactly the same, because \"Print Screen\" seems to be distorting the image even further, but it gives a general idea. My system specs are on the previous page of this thread.

This is the Title Screen:

This is the main menu:

Any suggestions on how to fix this, people?

Thanks.

Ahum, *looks with puppy eyes* What the hell IS a GL acceleration. I don\'t know if I have one. And if I use the slow version, it takes ages to even connect, and then it still has to load the world and everything!

OK, I\'m back. I tried the slow version, everything went fine, connected fast, everything loaded, until the world, I waited about five minutes and suddenly planeshift dissapeared.
Comp:
350 Mhz
64 Mb RAM
Lots of junk.

The \"slow\" version doesn\'t even start for me... my mouse thinks for a minute, and then goes back to normal, as if I never even tried to run the program.

[EDIT]Not to mention I installed OpenGL on my computer, so it *should* work[/EDIT]

Client performance and display problems
« Reply #44 on: May 03, 2002, 05:43:18 pm »
If you are having performance problems with OpenGL, you can do 2 things:

a) Try \"safe\" mode, which does not use those drivers.  This should display better also if you have glitches on your screen.  It should also be faster if your OpenGL drivers do not use h/w acceleration.  (H/w acceleration is like using a calculator instead of paper&pencil to do math.)

b) If \"safe\" mode is better, go to the web and try to find updated video drivers for your card.  You can determine your video card by right clicking on the My Computer icon and selecting Properties.  Then go to the Devices tab and you will see Video Display Adapter as a choice (I think).  That is the device whose new driver you seek.

Hopefully that will help some of you with display problems.

Good luck,
- Venge
