Can't get any name to work....
« on: June 28, 2004, 01:46:45 am »
I know this will sound like a newbie question but I cannot find a name that hasn\'t been taken, even when I put in random numbers.  Is there some problem with what I am doing?

Just making sure that were it says New: and Confirm: you type the same thing?

Well you can\'t use numbers, spaces or any special characters, so that may be your problem.  As well, there are close to 200 000 accounts right now, so you have to have a fairly uncommon name for it to work.

New & Confirm is for the password, so yes type in the same thing twice.

I hope that in CB the password fields will be masked, since that seems to confuse a lot of people... Of course I bet they are, just I\'m too bsy to comple and check it out.

About the name, if you like one name, try alternate spellings of it, switching two vowels, or adding an ending on to it (if the ending sounds good, anyhoo)

I actually got a working name on the first try, but I guess Tavaris isn\'t very common >_> (It actually has a meaning... I think it means son of the hermit in some language, but IIRC a Russian speaking person informed me that it meant something like second in command or something :P)

Your character name ends up being your username (I believe this automatically fills in after you have entered a name for your character after finishing filling out what you want for your character.

As for the password part:
New - type in the password you want for the account
Confirm - type in the exact same password.  Basically is to prevent people from making typos and unable to log into their account after the first day ;)
