FS#1776 - Some furnaces do not accept iron ore and stock

The furnace in trasoks is not accepting stocks put into it. Furnace outside (not part of map) works OK.
Same at Harquists. Fixed furnace says “Cannot add that item to that container”. ALso tested with iron ore.

Mmm, I now found out that of the two placed furnaces near harny, the right one works, but the left one doesnt. The original one still does not work.

Changed bug title (as not only original furnaces are affected), set to assigned (as Peeg and Eriroley confirmed)

Same problem with some stock casting devices. I checked the two upstairs in Trasok's. One works, the other one doesn't.

OK, I suspect r1607: http://pastebin.ca/1058872, a patch for  FS#781 .

Something that might show the problem, run on the laanx db:

select id,item_name,char_id_guardian,char_id_owner from item_instances where id in (select item_instance_id from trade_autocontainers);

At a guess, I'd say some don't work because a GM shifted them sometime since the item guarding change, and they still have that character in the db entry, so the server thinks it's the GM's sack that was dropped or something. It's only a guess.

Vornne: the strange thing is that it affects all original furnaces and stock casts. These are not placed, so should not be guarded by anyone. It still might have something to do with it though.

The action location furnaces are just links to items, hidden in the map or deep underground, which can be taken ;-)

I found the forge at Veja not accepting shield parts and also not stocks and ingots.

Thom commented on 30.06.2008 12:39

Perhaps it's not the furnaces, but the items themselves?

A player reported this on the forum:
"But for buckler and Small spiked shield it writes: smith tools, while for small round shield: armor. And can't put shield part into Veja's forge now"

Perhaps some items have the wrong category?

If the solution is by fixing the furnaces, however, take care to also fix the one in the tutorial. Players are getting stuck there now.

Never mind. Just reread the above comment about the tutorial.

I've fixed hopefully all of them. the problem was item_instances.char_id_guardian !=0 on some of those. Namely when you drop that item it gets that flag.

Thom commented on 30.06.2008 15:36

Great, but to avoid this in the future, there should be some way to clear the guardian character of an item. Perhaps via the /modify command? So if an item is publicly used (like a Furnace), it should not be guarded by the GM/Dev who dropped it.

I tested with iron near Harny. More is working than before, but not everything.
Melting iron stock in fixed and placed furnaces now worked (it did not before in the fixed one and the left placed one).
Making a stock out it in the fixed casting, did not work however. It did work in the to placed ones.

So problem left with fixed stock cast.

To clarify my previous comment:
all furnaces and stock castings near Harnquist work, except the one closest to the furnace on the side of the building (sorry, no pos, since no server).
To replicate the problem:
1. right click stock casting thing and select view
2. open mini-inventory
3. move 10 molten iron ore into the container
4. This should start work on the iron, to make an iron stock, however, you get an error "You cannot at that item to that container" (or something close, not sure about 'that item' as server gone).

I fixed all stock castings, there were still 3 with wrong data. Please test at next reboot

The stock casting near Harns building is now working as well. This mean everything there is OK.
