FS#2022 - Bounties - Game feature plus GM Tool.
This idea came up in IRC.
When someone breaks a law, players can report it to GMs or another NPC guard. Then GMs or the guard activate an option that turns on the autoaccept duels for an hour, with a different color label. During that hour, players that find the outlaw can kill it (or people with X faction in guards), so that would involve some players acting like guards in town (and some outlaws would have to leave the city for some time to avoid being killed).
That would be very cool :)
I remember having made a similar suggestion years ago on the wishlist on the forums.
Making "New".
Sounds interesting!
This could be really badly abused.
Only Crimes you can do atm. are RP, so NPC's can't check if the report is valid. Turning on "autoaccept" just because of a report could just hand you over to a prearranged Lynch mob for OCC reason like "I don't like you".
The point is the NPC would need more than one report, depending on the outlaw's guard and law factions. Of course it can be abused. but is law always fair with the innocents? In my opinion, it'd be a lot like real life, someone reports and the others are the witnesses.
Wavan, if you start going down the "RL is not fair, so why should PS be" road, you'll find that you then can arbitrarily hand out (de-) buffs, boni / mali and all other sorts of unfairness, right from the CC (and may just as well allow exploitation of bugs). While that may appeal the hardcore realism fan (until it hits _them_ badly, I assume), it'll very justifiedly annoy everyone else, IOW the vast majority.
