FS#2292 - Time of day and environment should affect magic
Spells of crystal way should be more potent in the daytime, reaching their max at noon, and weakest in the midnight.
Dark way spells should be opposite, strongest in midnight but weakest at noon. Also, casting dark way spell from a shadow (under a tree) should give some additional strength to it I think.
In a similar way, red way spells could be stronger if the caster is near a furnace or forge. Weaker when cast standing in water.
Blue/Azure way spells could be more potent in open spaces (blue sky) rather than buildings.

adding settings to assignee list so they can comment on if this is a valid request from settings point of view.
Changing status to postponed and will point the appropriate people here as we continue to discuss magic.
It's a good idea.
Adding support for scripts to check against time of day would be pretty easy, if that's desired. Or, perhaps a better way to model this would be to just boost powerlevel based upon time/location and the spell's Way.
Either way, I'd like this to be rules driven, so I won't add the feature until somebody has a coherent vision for its use.
adding jorrit as assignee as he has been worked with magic lately and may have a vision on how this could influence the spells.
I like the basic idea of this. The day/night thing should be relatively easy to implement. The other criteria are harder. It is not that easy to detect if you are in a building or not (in general) and detecting if you are near a fire/water is somewhat harder too.
But the basic idea is very good.
Supposedly all runes are powered by the crystal. So midnight would weaken all, and high noon would strengthen all.
Will require people to time their gameplay based on in game time, which is offset from real life time, and will be just a pain.
