FS#2472 - pssetup closed by DAC on startup

For some reason Vista thinks that pssetup.exe is a windows process that requires DAC, then DAC decides to promptly close the program. When you try and disable it for pssetup.exe it says that it requires dac =/

Couldn't reproduce on Vista.
What is the binary you are using? Release, build one?
Not clear: did you try disabling the DAC or the DEP?
What is your DEP configuration? (look into System > Advanced > Performance Options > Data Execution Prevention)

Release Binary

Turn DEP on for essential Windows programs and services only.

Tried changing it to except those i select and it said

This program must tun with data execution protection DEP enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program.

when I tried to disable it

Also it says

Your computers processor supports hardware-based DEP.

When i run

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

setup runs fine

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn to turn it back on after

Anonymous Submitter commented on 18.11.2008 22:59

Also if i turn DEP off then back on after it is started the program runs fine

EDIT: now it doesnt crash on startup at all…

Also tried a reboot its running fine now i bet if the setup program does anything only on first run thats the issue, ill try a reinstall
