FS#3779 - Tutorial: Niggles on "Abelia's Assignment" Voice recordings need changes
Update: see drjacks comment, several issues are fixed, voice recordings need some changes.
Original report:
A collection of bugs in the first tutorial quest.
1st quest stage: * “Hello, and welcome to Planeshift! You can just ask me to give you the tutorial, or, the more traditional phrase around here, ‘give me a quest.’“
This definitely has to be changed since the quest doesn’t work like that anymore. ( → #3757)
2nd stage: * When you select “no” (I do not wish do to the tutorial), Abelia’s answer (”I see…“) has no voice.
* If you change your mind, you have to start with “Hello, I would like to start the tutorial.” again, causing Ablia to deliver her whole long speech a second time (”Hello to you as well…“).
Wouldn’t it be nicer to just go back to the yes/no choice, especially since she just asked “That sounds good, doesn’t it?” ?
* In her response to “yes” (”Very good! / Now, in a few moments you will see an announcement..”) there’s a grammar error. It should read “Quests come from Non-Player Characters - commonly called a NPCs - in the game.” Her voice also uses plural, so this would be consistent.
3rd stage: * speech starting with “Very good, you have the hang …“. no niggles.
* next speech, last sentence: “When you are done giving things a try, select me and tell me that you are ready for more.” Should ideally be adapted to the new menu-driven system, but that would require a new recording. (typing “I am ready for more also works, though.”
4th stage: Abelia sends you to Naeve. No niggles.
5th stage: Naeve “Ah, excellent…” No niggles.
6th stage: Abelia tells you how to give the book to Naeve.
* Big niggle: “In order to give it to her, right-click on her and choose the ‘Give’ icon.” Mac users will be lost here. Naeve later tells them how to change to key bindings, but way too late.
* Small niggle: The description of the trade window is incorrect for the present default gui. The accept trade button is in the lower left portion of the trade window, not upper left.
7th and last stage:
* On top of the 20 Hexas she mentions, Naeve gives you an iron ore which is not in her text. On purpose? She later gives you a second on in her own quest.

actually they can’t even start the tutorial without knowing how to right click and i’d precise macbook users as the apple mouses have 3 buttons like it should be
Double-click also brings up the quest menu. But for trading, right-click is needed.
# Stage 1: Already fixed
# Stage 2: I can change it. I could make the first step shorter to avoid the problem of saying no. The typo is fixed. → voice problem remain
# Stage 3: I can do it. If one is arrived to step 3 he already knows how to use menu-driven system. The sentence is not an error. Actually, the player has to select her. If I change it we need to change the recording.
# Stage 4, 5: very well.
# Stage 6: changed upper to lower. → voice recording needed. Changed this line: In order to give it to her right-click on her, or control click if you’re a mac user. Then choose the ‘Give’ icon. → voice recording needed.
# Stage 7 added iron ore mention.
Updated title and details a bit to show that some voice recording changes are still needed. Better keep this report open until they are fixed too.
The new tutorial is unlikely to have voices so this can be closed as soon as the new tutorial is done.
