FS#4804 - Wish: Weaker Tutorial Rats
At the moment, the tutorial rats are very strong in comparison with most newly created characters, leading to a lot of frustration for new players.
As a tutorial helper I have witnessed several characters needing 5 minutes and more for a single rat with melee. With other players, I grouped, because they were not able to defeat the rat at all and got killed when they tried alone. My char is an untrained Kran (= one of the strongest newborn chars you can get) and can defeat the rats with melee, barely. And to get the hide neccessary for the quest, you normally need to kill several of them.
You can buy a dagger from Ibhaar before the fight, but at that point, you have not been taught yet how to do that. Neither have you been told about grouping. So most newbies face the rats alone and bare-handed or even wield their pickaxe which weakens their melee damage even further.
So in my opinion, it would be nice to have a weaker copy of the one-eyed rats for the tutorial. Maybe add a warning, that the rats “outside” will be stronger?
maybe replace the rats with kikiris? those are a lot weaker than the rats, so may fit the tutorial better (really every char should be able to kill those as they're pretty much the weakest enemy to encounter)
I thought about that too, but then the text and Ibhaar's voice would have to be changed.
Setting new and raising severity as it can be a serious difficulty for new players indeed.
Ive done the tutorial about a hour ago and I came here with a bouquet of wishes, one of them is the subject - nurfing the rats.
They're too strong. As an artistic-oriented Lemur I need to spend about a 5 HP bars (they refill somehow, I dunno) to kill a rat with bare hands. Also I didnt know that bloody stance is so deadly so I used it and I even died to rat, lol.
Well you got it - they're too strong. They need to be two times weaker Im sure.
ready to test, it souldn't be as much of an issue to kill the rats now
