FS#4882 - ride other people's mounts
Hi,
it would be nice if you could lend/rent your mount to other people. This could be made with a dialog box that appears when someone wants to /mount the pet (”Foo wants do ride your pet NameofThePet, allow?”), similar to challenges/trades. If this is implemented there should of cause be auto-accept/deny.
This isn't as simple as it looks at first blush. Let's look at it another way; since the mount is a familiar associated with the owner, what happens when someone else rides it? Do they need a ring of familiar? How far can they go from the owner, or do they inherit some of the skills of the owner so they can go far? How far can an owner send his or her mount? If the distance the mount can go depends on the skill of the owner, perhaps only a highly skilled owner could loan them.
I'm not saying it can't be done, but it has to be done with some thought to making it fit in Yliakum.
not being able to lend others your mount also does not really fit. i think people should be able to do with the mount what they want and go wherever they want and the mount disappears when the ring is "depleted" or the owner dismisses the mount. people should need a minimum lvl in empathy/riding anyway, no matter who the mount belongs to.
there have already been "free" mounts on the servers before the "mounts in rings"- concept was introduced, so the technical side is basically implementing the "allow" window
As far as I know, there is no technical problem; riding loose mounts has already been implemented. The issues I see are all settings-related.
