FS#6574 - Diseased Rats display Improper implimentation of the raging feaver effect.

The Diseased rats improperly apply the raging feaver effect to nearby players who are not interacting with it.

The majority of illnesses carried by rodents require physical contact or a bite to be transmitted and this effect should not be applied to someone simply walking by unless the rat targets and attacks the player directly. additionally since the diseased rats do not attack players unprovoked their AI has no business targeting players with an effect without being in combat

additionally healing potions and or crystal way should remove this effect as it is not a magical curse but rather a mundane sickness

lastly as a minor effect caused by combat with a monster the duration of raging fever lasts far too long for a monster of such a low level as a general rule of MMO's no status debuff caused by a monster should last more than at most 2-3 minutes after the end of a combat encounter and those that do should have easily accessible means of counteracting it such as potions or spells.

1 - the sickness works as expected (no contact required)
2 - there are potions able to cure the sickness but not healing potions, they are not supposed to heal sickness or illnesses but to heal wounds
3 - it's not intended as an effect caused by combat, see 1

The main issue here is that the placement of these rats makes avoiding passing through their proximity radius impossible meaning that it is a 100% guarantee that you will be afflicted entering the laanx dungeon. unless these creatures are moved this mechanic combined with the positioning of the creatures is quite unfair and malicious. alternate paths or a reduction in the radius of the disease effect are needed. remember in any game there need to be options available to a player and serious negative stat penalties should be very RARE and only applied as the result of poor judgement or direct combat.

placing something like the diseased rats in an area where they cannot be avoided or dealt with properly or intelligently is very bad design and gaurentees prolonged debuffs for anyone who ventures into the area. additionally the duration of the raging fever appears to be in the same range as Dakkru's curse which is completely unacceptable.

reducing the effect to 5 points of stat reduction would be a step in the right direction of balancing it 15 stat points for such a long duration is a bit excessive.

plane shift has a bad habit of excessively punishing players with effects that WASTE THEIR TIME AND PREVENT THEM FROM ENJOYING THE GAME. it does this FOR NO GOOD REASON. negative stat effects need to have durations no greater than 5 minutes anything more than that is a malicious attack on your player base. the casual player may only spend 20-30 minutes online at a given time and prolonged stat effects can literally ruin their entire experience additionally when a player logs off these stat effects do not drop off but rather continue their timer the next time the player logs in wasting not only one session but sometimes 2 - 3 short login periods.

a persons time is precious and when you go out of your way to waste your players time and prevent them from actually playing the game you drive them away. i have been saying this for years and it is the main reason that players keep leaving.

The duration of the effect is still quite excessive and should be reduced or have the severity of the debuff rebalanced. unless you want to rethink how the effect is applied. otherwise it is simply too detrimental to be a legitimate mechanic
