FS#7889 - Items sometimes dropped instead of moved into container

When moving items into bags or around within a container it can instead be dropped onto the floor or wall where the mouse cursor landed.

I cannot reproduce this bug. Can you try again and tell me the exact steps, also where you click on the container window.

I've experienced this myself, and have had trouble figuring out precisely what causes it. I think it has to do with the pointer moving while the item is dropped. I've been able to make it happen just about every time if I press the mouse button down in one inventory slot, but do not release the mouse button until I've moved the pointed to another space or in between the boxes.

I'm encountering that same problem as well. I am on a Linux machine (Ubuntu 22.04) and I can reproduce the issue, clicking between the actual item slots when holding an item. It is dropped "through" the window onto the floor or wall behind the window. I lost a quest/event reward sickle that way. Only realising much later that it wasn't in the slot I intended to put it in.

The problem persists in 0.7.38

The problem was the doubleclick on any empty part of the window. That should not be possible anymore.

if you experience the same , please explain how to reproduce the bug.

I can reproduce this bug with some consistency, don't even need to be moving between containers.

Click an item in your inventory to pick it up, move it to another slot, then click and quickly move the mouse away, still not every time but often enough.

Don't think it's to do with the gaps between slots.

Persists in 0.7.40

I think I have isolated this bug to when you click-drag.

reproduce:
1) pick up an item from your inventory or container.
2) While in a container, click and hold in one slot and drag the item to another slot, then release your mouse button.

result: item will be dropped.

I cannot reproduce the behavior in the inventory window using the click-drag method as Stalfos mentioned above, but the item is consistently dropped with other container windows.
