FS#8158 - Request for splitting item category "Plant Parts"
Similar to food ingredients (thanks for the “Fishing Bait” category)
this is an item category very much challenged with its diverse set of items, where you easily run out of space as a herbalist or professional harvester with only slightly more than a handful of stacks for each item.
I propose to subdivide along the lines of a traditional herbalist/apothecary classifications:
- Plant roots (radix)
- Plant leaves (folii/herba)
- Plant flowers (flos)
- Plant fruit (fructus)
- Plant wood (lignum, to include bark/cortex)
These might be suitable to also encompass the Plants category which is not at all uniform, e.g. classifying the nuts and mushrooms as fruit, grass as leaves and the rest of the flowers accordingly, .
Thinking it even further, this might also alleviate some more of the “Food ingredients” pain and would make things more consistent by removing unprocessed produce from the category, when we take Pungent tuber, Kartoffel and carrots with “Plant roots”, Apples, Banuts, Burr nuts, Bogo pepper, Duppong, Fire fruit, Jokan, Joopiner berries and Terevan berries together with “Plant fruits”.
In a last step Gorweal loot could leave the inapropriate “Animal parts” category to fill the “Plant wood” respectively “Plant root” ones.

I like the thoughtful suggestion(s) and at the least this may be considered, that,
Category: Plants: ONLY 4 (Couch Grass, Lake & Night Mushroom and Night Lantern)
←→ 200 max stacks split into four
←→ 50 stacks of 65 of each at max!
vs
Category:Plant Parts: 30 plus or so ←→ 200 max stacks split into 30 plus items
←→ 5/ 6 stacks of each 65 at max.
As such, even moving those woods (Threestem and White Oak) and/or the vendor buyables and/or the brew types … etc. (as above or otherwise) to plants/ something else, could be nice for a start.

Related to this I would like to suggest another category for consideration (other than the suggestions as mentioned above : Food etc.), viz., Category; Helm (of the four types & say restricted to looted ones).
Ignoring crafted ones, too many helm types are put into one category, effectively forcing player to settle for keeping loots of mostly one type : that is either go light or medium (and chain only for most players) or heavy.
Issue may happen when one day one would like to train say from heavy to light etc.?
Light: (Ignoring the mod-less leather types)
Mercenary: drops a lot: one source
Medium:
Chain: drops a lot: two well-known sources
Banded: drops sparingly, and from only one source (but stats better to chains)
Heavy:
Heavy: drops a lot: one source
If this too maybe spilt one-day for a start, that could be nice.

If / maybe we could Horadric cube (3 of the same Rune ⇒ one of next tier, 3 Magic Rings ⇒ 1 "Random" Magic Amulet for eg.) some of the loots at a premium, it may then solve two issues at once!
OR,
Maybe some form of these as you (@Talad) have once thought of: https://discord.com/channels/378244034348449792/378244034348449794/907975856897531924

… there is a Xiosia shrine in Homestead in PSUnreal, try to drop trias (or items or combo of items at other shrines?) and see what happens… plus,
… Laanx would prefer metal objects and weapons, Talad minerals and glyphs, Dakkru internal organs of creatures, Xiosia a bit of everything unless dangerous for nature …
Thanks!
