As soon as there are many entities on screen FPS drops to a minimum.
It’s very noticable in crowded guild houses (<1fps for me) or the camp on bdroad2 (<5fps).
This has been a problem before, but it got way worse.

Addition by Lanarel:
There seem to be different things causing extreme lag. The number of items may be one (as loading continues for several minutes in the background), but also complex maps (hydlaa, with many objects), complex lighting (such as campfires), and possibly particle effects (although the flames at the temple do not seem to slow things down for me much). And portals, which always give a huge drop when they come into view (even if hidden by rocks, such as the corridors in the *road maps).
Talad did already some testing with grouping objects (e.g. buildings) and setting max distances on effects. I assume doing the same on portals will also help a lot. I do not need to see the portal to the top of the tower or the road to the magic shop when standing in the plaza, but I definitely lag more when looking in that direction (more even than the general high part of hydlaa with all its buildings).

(Un-)Locking using the actual AL item or the door in the item’s instance works, though.

To reproduce:
- Try to unlock Guildhouse5’s door in instance 0 (hydlaa_plaza -124 27 25 0 )
–> “You need to be closer to the door to try this”

- Teleport to the actual lock in instance 394 ( /teleport me “guildhouse 5 lock” )
- Try to lock/unlock it
–> “You locked/unlocked Guildhouse 5 lock” - Try to unlock Guildhous5’s door in instance 394 (hydlaa_plaza -124 27 25 394 )
–> “You locked/unlocked Guildhouse 5 lock”

Summing up: It will be impossible for players to (un-)lock their houses, because they’re usually in instance 0.

If you step on the first bridge you’re “pushed” to the right. Moving on causes constant jerking.
Second bridge is even worse as you get stuck as soon as you enter it.

This is a serious show stopper!

Occurs in release and debug builds, on Linux and Windows.

Dequipping weapons updates the doll correctly. Confirmed on current stable and trunk.

At the moment crafting transformations seem to schedule removal events, aka the TRANSIENT flag is enabled for the transformed item. This should be disabled as it makes no sense at all and could cause problems as soon as TRANSIENT works again.

To test:

  1. apply the patch attached to  FS#2249 , you might also want to lower the removal interval in psItem::ScheduleRemoval()
  2. enable LOG_USER via the server console (setlog LOG_USER true)
  3. drop something into the oven in npcroom1
  4. wait until the item turns to dust
  5. look at the server console, you can read something like “Scheduling removal of object for 1460 ticks from now.” which means that a removal event was scheduled.

  4. the item vanishes, that’s fine.
  5. drop an item and pick it up again
  6. wait some time until the removal event is triggered
  7. crash!

I’d really like to see the amount of HPs the potions heal raised a bit, maybe even doubled.
Additionally a third, stronger potion should be added. Talad already suggested something in  FS#1331

there were no labels for the crates and the table. Guild houses are a mess of red labels too.

The obvious advantage of a NOLABEL flag is that the world could be enriched with various
objects that blend in their surrounding instead of looking like external objects.

NOLABEL could be used as general flag for one category of items (e.g. furniture) or set for a specific item by GMs.

If this gets approved suitable options have to be added to /item and /modify as well.

It should be the other way around.

When a character has a empty description the eye-icon doesn’t appear in his context-menu (when you right-click on him) anymore. /targetinfo still brings up the info-window.

I’m not sure if this is maybe intentional, but there are a few problems with this:

GMs see additional information (like stats/skills) in the info-window and will have to use /targetinfo each time they want to take a look at the stats of a character which has no description.

Players use the info-window to read their target’s descriptions AND to evaluate their strength (”You evaluate that…“). Some players could use empty descriptions to avoid (or make it harder) that others evaluate them.

I agree, most if not ALL of the lighting does not work on my system, so I walk around in near blackness when it is dark. I would LIKE to be able to correct for bugginess so I can continue to test.

i agree, too. a gamma correction would be very usefull, since there are known “dark” opengl bugs under linux

I love exploring, but with the rods in front of me most of the time being pitch black (due to a bug I believe
), a gamma correction feature would be nice. Potential spoiler or not, it is the choice of the player.

Not to mention that some monitors (like my laptop LCD) are darker anyway so the above statement goes double for me.

Well, the “sneak” movement mode has been added, it’s also possible in options to not display other persons’ labels and with the introduction system nobody will see your label if you haven’t introduced to them.

You might even want to hide from people you have introduced yourself to. Even your archenemy might have met you before :). That would still ruin things if you are hiding behind a bush, with a big label over your head. I suggest to keep this one, and maybe when someone gets bored a solution may be found.

Update by Lanarel after slight cleanup of the above:
My suggestions:
- forget all of the above about introduction etc (it no longer exists)
- when sneaking, do not show the label. This should be easy to implement. Additionally, there should be some way to stay in sneak mode (i.e., no need to hold the shift key while sitting behind a rock for an hour).

Sometimes the “Your character was still in combat..” message appears, but after clicking OK a couple of times the server let’s you log in anyway.
After the the character logged in again the hostile NPC doesn’t attack anymore, though it looks like it’s still in stance.
