Task Description
It’s very easy to miss tells, greetings and etc. For example if I talk with NPC, NPC tab in chat selected. Other char comes and tries to start dialog with me. As I read what NPC says, I miss blinking in the Main tab, so I ignore that char. As for RP, it seems that I’m very impolite because ignoring other chars. Adding popup for messages addressed to me solve this problem and I can immediately(if I want) reply to char.
My suggestion(technical background):
on each command like <CMD> <TO_PERSON_NAME> generate event with message(tell, greet, etc.)
this message shows in the main view like other notifications
this popups can be toggled off in settings

Feature Request | 5698 | No | Quests Dynamics | Medium | Unconfirmed | Mario Rohkrämer | | Pet race selection for old characters redoing the quest... | 19.07.2012
Task Description
Several players of old characters who had a Groffel as pet before the quest wipe, and have to redo the pet quest, are unsatisfied that they don’t get a Groffel again, but a Yulbar instead. See: Status of Our Old Pets
May be that Yulbars didn’t exist at all when they got their pet.
May be that Yulbars are somehow preferred now, or there are just no complaints about Groffels so there is a bias about it.
Would it be possible (without extreme efforts) to ensure that redoing this quest creates the same pet race as before? Or would it be possible in cases of old characters redoing the quest after years that they are allowed to chose the race — for emotional reasons?

Feature Request | 5701 | No | Crafting | Medium | New | rodrigo moraes | | Bad user experience: automatic stacking and merging hig... | 18.12.2012 | | 1 |
Task Description
I’m a new user and I just had a very frustrating experience, so I want to propose an improvement.
I requested a guild mate to craft me some chain armor, and when I got it done I picked the Arm piece i was wearing and tried to exchange by the new one. By the gods, the quality-50 armor merged with the quality-300 one and I got two quality-175 armors. Without any confirmation.
I think the merge-on-stack system is fine for many crafting situations, but merging armor stats is a unexpected one. I fail to see why one would want to merge a higher armor with a much lower one. This doesn’t even make sense: if you mix water and herbs it’s ok that you get an infusion, but you can’t mix a chain mail with another one to instantly get two different ones.
I requested a GM to revert the stats and he said that this is the same situation as when one sells or gives away an item by mistake. I think it is not the same thing. This is not a mistake; it is common to exchange items in the inventory to organize or save space, and having these “side-effects” in place can make a simple inventory management a surprisingly bad experience for new users like me. :(
TL;DR:
1. Please review if it really makes sense to merge armors or weapons. I don’t see the use for it, and it sounds illogical, but probably I’m missing something.
2. Please consider adding a confirmation to actions with clearly bad side effects during inventory management, to avoid the frustration, specially for new users.
3. Please consider adding a toggle/checkbox to the inventory to turn on/off automatic item merging (disabled by default to avoid sad surprises like mine).
Thanks for all the hard work, guys. :)

Task Description
Instead of directly opening the book copy text, it would be nice if a book showed a regular info window first. Title, the authors name, and generic book description. If a Read button were provided, that then opened the window with the book copy text, perhaps an event could be generated so there could be read and unread books in ones inventory. Being able to carry and inspect an unread book perhaps gives some interesting quest possibilities.

Task Description
The random weapons naming system is one of the excellent features of PlaneShift, and crystals have always been iconic to PlaneShift. Different varieties of mineral crystals produced at the mine sites. Some descriptors that would indicate quality on the crystals, like: Smoky, cloudy, occulted, clear, milky, flecked, fractured, et cetera. Smoky sapphire, occulted Ruby, et cetera. These could indicate grades of quality. Perhaps there should be a chance to pull extremely unique crystals of magical quality with two or more modifiers. I would not be surprised if this was already thought of, but I wanted to put it up here while it was in my mind.

Task Description
It happened to me twice already that I bought a good weapon for tens of thousands of tria, to then find out I need a lot of stats to equip it. And not only can’t I equip it, I don’t know whether it’s worth training for it either because nothing tells me how many more levels I need.
The game shows the effects (damage, speed) and the stats increases/decreases can be looked up in a book in the museum by analyzing the name. Could a way be implemented to know what stats and skills you need to use an item before buying it too? Either as part of identification, as a new separate identification spell for requirements or through some book?
Without that I’m very reluctant to buy anything at all as I spent too much money already on things that are useless to me.

As it stands, I’m very familiar with FlySpray from working on other projects so the typo was trivial for me, but other players might not be so keen. I think an easy way of “fixing” the issue of typos for common resources would be to allow Advisors to have encapsulated snippets containing the links. a few examples would be;
(fs) would be replaced with http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/flyspray
(forums) would be replaced with http://www.planeshift.it/forums.html
(guide) would be point to http://www.planeshift.it/quickstart.html
Etc, Etc..
I don’t know exactly what languages the PlaneShift client/server uses, but if it uses Python this would be a fairly trivial addition.

Feature Request | 5868 | No | Rendering Issues | Medium | Unconfirmed | Martin | | setting for spell effects quality | 06.01.2013
Task Description
Hi! As reported in "bug" (bug #5867) spell effects performance is pretty slow on Intel Sandybridge HD 3000 graphics. I understand that this may well be a driver / hardware limitation. Due to the extreme slowness its not easy to roleplay on events when other players cast effects, cause then basically I can not do anything anymore. Except for that the performance is quite nice for onboard gfx, enough for me at least, even at 1680x1050.
Cause of this I would like a way to reduce the quality of *just* the spell effects a bit. I found that I can disable them alltogether by setting shaders to "lowest". But any other settings for shaders doesn´t have any visible effect on performance. Also shaders to "lowest" worsens the other gfx as well.
I also learned I can disable spell effects altogether, by removing the *.eff files from effects directory.
What I would like now is a way to configure spell effects to reduced quality and (hopefully) improved performance. This may also be good for other users of old hardware.
Thanks, Martin

Task Description
Most quests start with an intro and a confirmation for the player to accept the quest. For those that have skill requirements and/or time locks, instead of hiding the quest completely, perhaps it would be better to expose such quests when the character is otherwise qualified (e.g completed other quests in the chain) and do the skill / time check in the intro steps and have the NPC inform the character that they need to practice more before they can continue, or say something along the lines of "too busy right now, come back tomorrow". This way the player will know the quest is there, and get a hint of what they need to do. Going around and touching all the NPC's and finding nothing just feels like a bug when one knows there should be quests out there someplace.

Feature Request | 6019 | No | Engine | Medium | Unconfirmed | Hirene Penifur | | Dequip command should stack identical items | 09.06.2013 | | 4 |
Task Description
We’d like if the /dequip command would stack the same type and quality items in inventory when it’s used in shortcut. It’s important for crafters, especially in case of hammering chain mail rings, but also would come handy for blacksmiths, blade or shield makers who want to separate Q300 items from other qualities which ones require more work.
In case of armor making crafters used to drop and pick up all the rings to stack the Q300 ones, since /pickup command do the stacking on same quality items. (This breaks immersion of role players, especially at Harnquist.)
The function also would prevent accidental manual grouping of non-Q300 items (blades, ingots etc.) with the carefully selected Q300 items in a slot.

Now, you can see the amount, the price and the name of the item. Sometimes with lot of similar items but with different qualities, it could help you to chose what you need. At the moment, you need to click on each same named item stacks to see what you need.
I know it would reduce the maximum number of the storable items per category, but considering the long names of looted items, I think this 8 bytes wouldn’t make big difference.

Feature Request | 6030 | No | Quests | Medium | Unconfirmed | Hirene Penifur | | Idea about making crafting skills less grindy | 20.06.2013 | | 2 |
Task Description
I think it would be a great feature to make a new type of NPC quests on working title "Skill quests". It would work similar to the current quests are being developed, so you can get repeatable quests from NPCs regarding to your current skill levels, like cooking/baking quests from Harnquist.
These skill quests would repeat daily (or in any other considered time periods) and crafters could pick orders up from their trainers or other NPCs. NPC places an order on crafting a certain item that player need to craft and would get huge amount of SKILL PRACTICE as reward for fulfilling the order.
It wouldn't touch the current skill progression system, so someone could 'grind' a skill if they wish to do that. But we all know, how slow it is now to progress in any crafting skill.
See an example: The rule settings team think, someone has spent 3 months with developing their blades making skill, should be at level 100 in blades making without grinding. If a player would play regulary and come back on 60 days, and does the skill quests from NPC, they would get enough skill practice to reach level 100.
Let's say the next level of the skill would take 2 hours of mindless grinding. But if the player would come back regulary and would do the skill quest, they could reach the same level with making (let's say) 3 products for order. The items to be crafted would also be different, regarding to the skill level of the player and what items are craftable in the skill. So, a player would be asked to make a sabre, a falchion, an axe or a shortsword for example.
The advantage of the extended system would be: - rule settings developers could define a minimum time within someone should reach a certain level in their skill - the players wouldn't need to grind all playing time spent in PS to reach their skill levels, so they could role play more or work on other skills - the players would come back more regulary to develop their favorite skills, because the quests would repeat daily

Feature Request | 6108 | No | Rules | Medium | Unconfirmed | Hirene Penifur | Davide Vescovini | Melee skill has too low damage | 14.08.2013
Task Description
I think melee skill has too low damage compared to weapon skills. It takes to level up the same efforts, costs and time as any other combat skill, and for that you get very low damage.
I measured MELEE on the Training Dummies, got the following:
Normal stance: min: 46 max: 77 avr: 62.7
Bloody stance: min: 53 max: 91 avr: 74.8
I used a Q50 ShortSWORD and got these results (and who does use a Q50 weapon nowadays at all?)
Normal stance: min: 91 max: 153 avr: 126.4
Bloody stance: min: 107 max: 180 avr: 145.3
And a Q50 Normal BOW:
Normal stance: min: 99 max: 167 avr: 137.6
Bloody stance: min: 116 max: 199 avr: 164.8
If I was using a Q300 Shortsword or Bow, these results would be higher by times 1.7x. If I was using a Platinum Steel Longswords, the sword results would be higher by times 2.1x.
Conclusion: Melee skill makes about only 50% damage compared to Q50 Sword and 45% damage to Q50 bow. And please notice, that I compared the skill to Q50 items only. In case of melee you have no chance to craft a better weapon, you have no chance to loot weapon with good modifier.
Suggestion: I suggest to raise the damage of melee skill by at least 260%, because it takes to level melee up the same efforts, costs and time as any other combat skills. Otherwise melee is just a good RP skill :) (Raising the damage by times 2.6x would be similar as you would use your hands as a Q300 Shortsword, taking the delay into account too (equalized damage per second values). Melee has 1.5 delay, Shortsword has 2.0 delay.)
Raising the damage by times 2.6x would cause:
Normal stance: min: 119 max: 200 avr: 163.1
Bloody stance: min: 137 max: 236 avr: 195.5

Feature Request | 6221 | No | Magic System | Medium | Unconfirmed | Erodare Lenizus | | Over-charged Mana Cost | 18.11.2013
Task Description
1) For damage capped spells, sliding the power bar above the point where max damage is produced, mana cost is over-charged against the character, in addition to lowering success chance and increasing casting time more than appropriate.
2) If the kill shot (magic) produces more damage than needed to finish off the target, full mana cost is charged even if not needed.
I think it would be more appropriate if the mana cost was down-scaled to the net effect: - if target only has 30 hit points left, a 60-point damage spell should only charge half the mana - if target only needs 5 hit points to be fully healed, a 60-point healing spell should only charge 1/12th of the mana cost - for area spells, calculate against sum effect on all impacted targets. - if you’re going to cap damage, should also cap mana cost and not over-penalize in success chance and cast time when the slider is set too high
Where I’ve referenced the magic power slider above, same should be true for spell commands that explicitly have a power value - i.e. “/cast 90 Taste of Death”
Justification: The mage should be able to determine if a “light touch” will suffice, but players have no way to turn down magic power to improve success chance and/or reduce mana cost and casting time.
Taking this a step further, practice and experience perhaps should be similarly down-scaled, with the possibility of giving none if no actual effect is the result (this would impact spam casting for power-leveling).

Perhaps -50 to +50 would work better?
Perhaps practice and experience should be dialed down accordingly as well?

Other platforms than Windows may require a similar solution.

Task Description
A UI improvement: This would make things much more convenient for spells like Dweomer Detection, but generally in cases where an action is performed on an object such as repairing weapons and armor. It would be great if the object of the action was (first choice) an external object that you have in focus. If there is no such object, use the one in the sword hand.
Right now, there is a mix of both of these things implemented. This would make it consistent and convenient. Right now it's quite awkward to have to drop an item, and then focus on it before casting a spell on it.

Task Description
Since the quest chains were introduced, and many indirect prerequisites for the availability of a quest, I now waste a lot of time scanning each NPC for the very few which have a quest available at the moment, regarding my current list of completed quests, over and over again.
The additional vague hints which are being added to the end of quests are not sufficient because on one hand they may fail, and on the other hand they help better when I just started a new character, not when my experienced character is already in the middle of many quest chains.
I don’t expect a big fat rotating question mark above an NPC’s head; it can well be a less remarkable change – like a different color, outline, or font style for the label, or a slight translucent highlight effect.

Feature Request | 6333 | No | Crafting | Medium | New | Elhorien | Davide Vescovini | more variety of animal parts to craft Healing essences | 01.08.2014 | | 4 |
Task Description
I write this to ask about more variety of animal parts in order to craft this essence, since it can be obtained in low production from aragnas and in high production from trepor queen. Trepor queen is just one mob in place and not always give to you the eggs sack. Is a essence really hard to obtain, and is very helpful for newcomers and also for experienced player, when crafted into healing potions. Increasing the ratio egg sack / essences will also help. Thanks a lot for reading and for your time.

Feature Request | 6343 | No | Inventory/Items | Medium | Unconfirmed | bonifarz | | Prevent accidental item destruction | 19.02.2014 | | 5 |
Task Description
Today morning I accidentally destroyed (”sold”) my main weapon (a Frosty Crystal-Steel Battle Axe of Stone). This has happened earlier and to several other players, and it will happen again for sure. It would be very useful to have either * an option for locking down some items in your inventory to prevent selling them * a confirmation popup when selling items with a rarity of one in a million or more * a way to retrieve items, e.g. as suggested in PS#5325 I know it is the players fault, but it can happen easily if there is a lot of lag or if the storage and trade windows happen to be placed on top of each other.

Feature Request | 6347 | No | NPC Dialog | Medium | Unconfirmed | nobody special | | add non-quest dialog to dialog menu | 19.02.2014
Task Description
It would be useful to have some knowledge areas accessible through the drop down dialog system, perhaps behind a chooser toggle "quest/knowledge area" The dialog could default to quest dialog always opening the list window with the no-quest error in place of the list if there is no relevant quest dialog and a button for showing the KAs. This way the useful information the npcs have is not lost unless you know exactly what to ask them.

Task Description
Scores whose given tempo (beats per minute) is greater than the performers skill level would allow should play at the maximum tempo available to him unless it is specifically set lower than the max. resetting the tempo with every repetition of the piece is counter-productive.

Feature Request | 6377 | No | Characters | Medium | Unconfirmed | Adam | | Character Creation: Yilan Female Model | 04.04.2014
Task Description
Curious when the Yilan attractive, skinny feminine model of the Yilan class will be coming out?
I have decided that I will start a NEW character permanently when it comes put. I would like to take the 4 years of learned game time and efficiently develop this new character.
If you can base the model to look something like the combo: 1.) Feminine female Northrir 2.) Feminine looking male Lemur
…………. I would be greatly pleased. Perhaps a little bit more swagger in the hips or a little bit more bounce (if you know what I mean).
Question: Who actually is working on these models?

Feature Request | 6392 | No | User Interface | Medium | Unconfirmed | Jon | | Add switch character/logout option to client | 06.04.2014 | | 3 |
Task Description
Currently when leaving PlaneShift, the only option is to completely exit the client. It would be convenient to be able to go back to the character selection screen and/or the login screen rather than having to restart the client.
