Currently, all crafting requires a full setup of equipment (fixed-in-the-world crafting containers) for that craft. This makes sense for some crafting skills such as blacksmithing and to an extent alchemy; however, basic cooking and herbalism (and other crafts TBD) should be possible with only portable crafting containers (such as a campfire and pan or a simple, portable mortar and pestle). This would also require new crafting books: “Campfire Recipes” anyone?

Feature Request6668NoQuestsMediumUnconfirmedJoshuaVenalanQuest completion warnings. (And safer quests.)14.11.201412 Task Description

Sometimes when talking to an NPC during a quest, it’s not obvious that saying something will end it early. For example, in the Dizzy Bevon quest, telling Charisa that you can’t get into the Winch abruptly ends it. Meaning you will never see the rest of that quest, even if you get Winch access. I thought that she would wait instead, which would be more fair to players. Apparently this game wasn’t as forgiving as I imagined. Failing quests is especially annoying when it involves typed answers too, where a typo or not being specific enough will cost you the quest. (Even if you knew the right answer.)

First of all, I feel there shouldn’t be an option to finish a quest early unless you fail, the options being either you complete it fully or save it for later. This would be much more player-friendly. I didn’t even fail the quest, I just couldn’t get into the Winch. I feel like I was punished for being honest, and possibly have missed out on some reputation forever.

Who in the right mind would back out of a quest after accepting it, anyway? I doubt anyone does it intentionally. These sorts of choices should be greatly reduced. It only makes sense during evil quests where you might feel bad about what you’re doing. If someone is feeling lazy or is busy, then they can complete the quest later, like in any other game. If these dialog options are going to remain in the game, then it may be better if they had a warning such as (ENDS QUEST), while the true ending of the quest could say (COMPLETES QUEST). This would help players avoid making infuriating mistakes like mine.

Secondly, sometimes it is too easy to fail a quest when typed answers are involved. In the Stolen Dagger (sp?) quest from Ojaveda where you have to tell Enach what it looked like, if you say “diamond”, or “diamonds”, instead of “diamonds and opals”, you will get the uneventful ending. This is made even more ridiculous because the answer is in your quest log, so it shouldn’t be possible to get it incorrect anyway. But you only get one chance. Basically, I feel quests that rely on typed text should be more forgiving, because sometimes it’s not about whether you’re right or wrong. Rather, it may depend on how many variations of the correct answer there are, so a lot of the time it isn’t the player’s fault. Sure, maybe “diamond” isn’t that specific, but it definitely narrows it down. If I say diamond, Enack should say something like “Anything else?”.

Loosely related to  FS#2297  and  FS#2352  – when a guild member is online, I’d like to see the name displayed in the Buddy List automatically, possibly with a slightly different color (e.g. sky-blue, or like the customizable guild chat color). This could be toggled via an option like: “[X] Add guild mates to buddy list”.

Feature Request5433NoUser InterfaceMediumUnconfirmedMario RohkrämerNeed a filename prompt when saving a book17.11.201112 Task Description

A book is saved on the local disk with the custom title entered while writing its content. This is very inconvenient if the book has a quite verbose title, then the filename is just as verbose, and if you want to load this text into a copy of this book, you need to type exactly the same book title into the loading filename dialog. Or you need to know where books are located outside the game and rename the saved file there.

I'd like to be able to specify a brief filename to save a book to. The filename dialog may be pre-filled with the suggested filename based on the book title, but I'd like to change it before saving, if desired.

Feature Request6030NoQuestsMediumUnconfirmedHirene PenifurIdea about making crafting skills less grindy20.06.201312 Task Description

I think it would be a great feature to make a new type of NPC quests on working title "Skill quests".
It would work similar to the current quests are being developed, so you can get repeatable quests from NPCs regarding to your current skill levels, like cooking/baking quests from Harnquist.

These skill quests would repeat daily (or in any other considered time periods) and crafters could pick orders up from their trainers or other NPCs.
NPC places an order on crafting a certain item that player need to craft and would get huge amount of SKILL PRACTICE as reward for fulfilling the order.

It wouldn't touch the current skill progression system, so someone could 'grind' a skill if they wish to do that.
But we all know, how slow it is now to progress in any crafting skill.

See an example:
The rule settings team think, someone has spent 3 months with developing their blades making skill, should be at level 100 in blades making without grinding.
If a player would play regulary and come back on 60 days, and does the skill quests from NPC, they would get enough skill practice to reach level 100.

Let's say the next level of the skill would take 2 hours of mindless grinding.
But if the player would come back regulary and would do the skill quest, they could reach the same level with making (let's say) 3 products for order.
The items to be crafted would also be different, regarding to the skill level of the player and what items are craftable in the skill.
So, a player would be asked to make a sabre, a falchion, an axe or a shortsword for example.

The advantage of the extended system would be:
- rule settings developers could define a minimum time within someone should reach a certain level in their skill
- the players wouldn't need to grind all playing time spent in PS to reach their skill levels, so they could role play more or work on other skills
- the players would come back more regulary to develop their favorite skills, because the quests would repeat daily

Feature Request458NoVery LowAssignedDanTaladGreeting while sitting09.06.2022162 Task Description

When sitting, I think it should be possible to greet someone without standing up. It is a bit awkward to be sitting, and then stand and wave at someone and sit back down. I’m not sure if it is hard to implement the “wave” action while sitting, but that is what I think the effect should be. Just sit and wave. If you don’t think that “/greet” is appropriate while sitting, then perhaps just implement a visual “/wave” that can work when standing or sitting, although the only difference between the two are the system message.

Feature Request7897NoUser InterfaceLowUnconfirmedDaevaornFeature request: NPC Interaction window/view severly la...17.10.20232 Task Description

The NPC interaction window can only be controlled via mouse clicks, which is extremely cumbersome – particularly giving the full screen scale – bordering the unintuitive for some parts,.

Going back and forth between the menu entries and the dialogue window to click the progression arrow is cumbersone as well as leaving the view (and here we are extremely unintuitive) with a mouse click in the corner, instead of supporting the Escape key.

My proposals (ranked by importance, most important first):

1) allow for exiting the view by assigning the ESC key to the leave button
2) allow for dialogue progression by hitting the space bar (having your character jump in this view is really an expendable “feature”) or at least have the arrow key right assigned to that right pointing arrow appearing under the lefthand dialogue section.
3) selecting conversation options on the right-hand side via numbers 1-9 (range should suffice for 99% of the present cases).

Feature Request4463NoMagic SystemLowNewMario RohkrämerAdding a "natural resource detection" spell27.02.201152 Task Description

You already mentioned that the former “Dweomer detection”, which only vaguely returns a possible enchantment of a weapon, is rather useless as there are also buffs which are not at all obvious regarding stats and skills.

Not to waste the spell in general, I wonder if it was possible to implement instead that a similar one could be used to detect the presence of natural resources. Depending on some experience level, possibly in combination with another glyph (e.g. Earth, Animal, Tree), it could enable the caster to only vaguely detect presence of areas in a more or less close range where mining, fishing, harvesting, etc. (generic type) might be possible (”You feel that harvesting could be possible here.”), up to a more detailed feeling that specific resources are probably in some vague but graduated distance (”You feel that fishing for carp could be possible just next to you.”).

Of course, any new spell could be created as well.

Feature Request5858NoAdvisor SystemMediumUnconfirmedGareth Schakeladd encapsulated "bookmark links" for the advisors31.12.201232 Task Description

As it stands, I’m very familiar with FlySpray from working on other projects so the typo was trivial for me, but other players might not be so keen. I think an easy way of “fixing” the issue of typos for common resources would be to allow Advisors to have encapsulated snippets containing the links. a few examples would be;

(fs) would be replaced with http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/flyspray

(forums) would be replaced with http://www.planeshift.it/forums.html

(guide) would be point to http://www.planeshift.it/quickstart.html

Etc, Etc..

I don’t know exactly what languages the PlaneShift client/server uses, but if it uses Python this would be a fairly trivial addition.

Feature Request6823NoEngineMediumUnconfirmedVonor[Engine/Settings] Add Regexp and wordlists to NPC Speec...24.11.201511 Task Description

While the quest system has greatly improved in the years I’ve been gone, there are still things one needs to type to an NPC.

Currently NPCs are still dumb as bricks when it comes to understand what players “write” to them.

As the “writing” is supposed to be “speaking” one would assume that an a person would understand a word even if it’s spelled incorrectly.

For example - in a certain quest you have to tell a certain NPC the words “diamond and opal”.

If you spell the words wrong (e.g. opale) the npc refuses to help and you have no chance of repeating that step and thus are forced to finish the quest in another way.

With regexp in the engine the settings department could make the answer look like this: (?i).*diamond.*opal.*

This would match case insensitive on “it are diamonds and opals” as well as “diamondsopals” or “diamond opale” as well as many other possible phrases that include the words “diamond” and “opal”.

With wordlists settings could define a couple of spellings of certain words to match on in-word typos even. for example: (?i).*$quest_stepX_wordlist1.*$quest_stepX_wordlist2.*
In the wordlist the settings dept could then, for example, define spellings like diamond, daimond, diamant and the like. That’s just an example though, I’m sure there are many more examples in game currently where a npc refuses to answer or you break a step in a quest only because you cnat type :-)

As for the regexp, the PCRE library from Apache could be used, maybe. http://www.pcre.org/

Feature Request6715NoInventory/ItemsMediumUnconfirmednobody specialVary current quality of loot items23.12.20141 Task Description

I think it would be more realistic and quite useful for looted items to have a random current quality. Finding enough damaged equipment to practice repair is always tough, this idea would go a long way to making it a more usable skill.

This idea, if properly implemented, could also balance out the values of looted items. A sub-routine could be devised to cause the highest value items suffer the greatest pre-loot damage. So a standard unmodified item could have a flat chance of being anywhere from 1 to 50 out of 50 quality. A one modifier item could roll 2 50-sided dice taking the lower result or average, and so on for 2 modifier and three modifier items. Specific implementation could be subject to testing to determine appropriate rates.

This would result in less of a lottery effect.

Feature Request6278NoUser InterfaceMediumUnconfirmedAndrew DraskoyUse object equiped in sword hand if no object is focuss...05.12.20131 Task Description

A UI improvement: This would make things much more convenient for spells like Dweomer Detection, but generally in cases where an action is performed on an object such as repairing weapons and armor. It would be great if the object of the action was (first choice) an external object that you have in focus. If there is no such object, use the one in the sword hand.

Right now, there is a mix of both of these things implemented. This would make it consistent and convenient. Right now it's quite awkward to have to drop an item, and then focus on it before casting a spell on it.

Feature Request1590NoInventory/ItemsLowNewElectricsheepTrade between players should be visible to all in sight...24.01.201021 Task Description

How about making it visible in Main if Players exchange items?
A system message appears to the ones trading anyways at this moment.
the message to others should however have some less precision, like:

"<PlayerA> gave <PlayerB> Weapons and some coinage in exchange for raw materials"
for someone trading a crafted longsword, a dagger, 2 hexa and a tria against 45 platinum ore and a silver ingot.

this in order to keep realism (can all see how many circles and tria he pushed into the other persons hand?)
the message could use the item_category, and eliminate doubles, so it could be done without giant changes to the database.

the advantages I would see in this:

1.) there will be visible interaction between players. no more pure tell-based sales that (imho) are pretty ooc.
Noone IRL (and especially not in the middle ages) would go into a shop and whisper in the cashiers ear what he whishes to sell or buy.
Instead people going into a shop (not a supermarket) usually say good day followed by a statement on what they seek to buy (maybe even some smalltalk).
Neither would such item exchange go unnoticed by other people in the shop or near the exchange.
So I think it would add to realism. Unless the character you play would be blind.
2.) Stealthy and sneaky exchanges of goods would have to take place in dark alleys, like sneaky things should be done.
3.) Hopefully the messages in main would encurage Players to take the general and casual trade-talk into main as well,
instead of hiding it in tells in order to not 'disturb' other players.
If IRL there are others talking near you, you step away a little to give and have more privacy as well.
4.) It also would surely add some spying capabilities into the game, as it then could indeed be seen to all around who trades with who.
This will make it possible to IC-ly spy on others trade behaviours. This without the need of having to be telling or grouping with the ones spied on.

disadvantages:

1.) Anyone could see who would trade with who, people who use quest runners would have to find a reason why they would get items for free..
(or take the trade to a dark alley).
2.) Someone could 'spam' the main-channel with trade messages. (but that's easier by sitting and standing up, or by dropping items and pick them up)
3.) some things I probably didn't thik about yet. feel free to add..

Overall I think it would rather add to RP then desturb it.
For slipping items to others unnoticed, there could/should be a ‘/givesecret’ option that would use the numbers behind the pickpocket/sneaking skills.

Bug Report7838NoQuestsMediumReady to testUadjetThe Arrivals quest cannot be completed06.05.202421 Task Description

The quest has a number of triggers that must be completed in order to progress that do not appear to be working in Unreal. The three I’ve found are:

1) Proximity to the rock with the action location that moves players into the cave,

2) Use of a cog/mechanism, moving one of the rocks, and

3) Solving the door puzzle and entering the small room.

I’m not sure if these are supposed to complete steps that are not sequential with the immediately previous steps, or if they are meant to set variables, but either way they don’t seem to be doing the job. Talking to Raithen gives no sign that you’ve completed any of these tasks, even if you’ve done them all.

I can get players past this by setting a later step manually, but given the (suspected) use of variables or non-sequential steps, it seems likely I’ll just mess things up for them.

Feature Request6573NoUser InterfaceMediumUnconfirmedmike loevenStore Quest Notes in the Books Database06.09.201421 Task Description

I would like to request that saved quest notes be moved from client side into the book database. currently the quest notes are saved locally and are very vulnerable frequently getting deleted during client repair or re installs. additionally for players who have more than one computer these notes do not properly persist between clients.

considering that players are already allowed to write books and that text data takes up very little space there is really no reason NOT to move this feature server side.

another major issue with the current implementation is that the quest’s description is missing a lot of key information provided by the npc conversation such as names and locations.

a perfect example is the quest Masked Mistress where the description tells you the summary however does not include her brothers name which is given in the npc dialogue.

the lost of quest notes can easily render a quest impossible to complete without asking a person for spoilers or searching through game logs for the missing conversation.

Feature Request6788NoUser InterfaceMediumUnconfirmedGongerJoe LyonSplit up System tab information18.03.201511 Task Description

System tab: Could the information there be split up further, like for the logs, into something like combat, crafting, soul commands (emotes and interaction commands like /greet), so you can have more control what is shown in Main tab?

This was briefly discussed in the Dev meeting (22/02/2015), and should be assigned to Eredin.

Thank you.
