Since the new maps, I have found that even though the terrain looks smooth its like the character is walking into little ledges that cause him to stop or slow down to approx 1/4 speed. If your running you just stop. I have found that I can at times manage something of a run if I jump a lot. A whole lot. The locations of the ground that does this don’t seem to have much consistency. You can run for a small distance, be in this broken terrain for another distance and then be back in smooth terrain. Also if your running in autorun and are stopped you can turn anywhere from 30 to 90 degrees and start running again. Like I said at the top its like the new ground has lots of little ledges. Also while walking if you jump when stopped or slowed down, you often land about 1/4 to 1/8 of a character height above the visual terrain.

Walking through the corridor from Hydlaa to the Arena caused a sudden drop through the map when I exited the corridor. I was automatically put within the Arena grounds and returned to take the above screenshot and investigate.
After a server outage I checked again and encountered the same problem.

This is a known problem for many portals (where you cross from one map to another) on some systems. All places where this happens should have a teleport action location nearby: click on a roadsign (or sometimes rock) nearby and read the description. It will teleport you to the other side.

I’ve tried setting shaders to “lowest”, with no result. There doesn’t seem to be a way to totally disable shaders. Given that my card has no shader support, that would be best. psclient spends a lot of time spewing out messages like this:

which leads me to believe it is doing a lot of unnecessary processing.

Current windows client with current updates on Windows XP sp2.

Consequences:
Standing too long for whatever reason can lead to the point of exhaustion in effect becoming functionally stuck for a short period of time.

attempting to buy or sell items also terminates the client, the window opens but as soon as the client starts to load the items for sale, the client terminates.
attempting to examine a new item such as the new signposts terminates the client.
Items already existing in crystal blue don’t.

Vinafera Reduxxius also suffering crashes (another Linux user).

Client is not generating a crash log so I guess it is an abnormal termination rather than a crash. (the client thinks it has received a genuine quit command)

Tested on Laanx.
If you have left button set for autorun, sometimes when you click on a window, your character runs away. Simple test case:
- in chat window, scroll your chat log up using the arrow in the scroll bar. Nothing wrong
- scroll back down using the down arrow on the scroll bar. Goes OK for a while
- until you cannot scroll any further. Now your character runs to what is behind the scroll arrow button graphics!

This would be really messy if for example new players would have had it set like that.
(Even I ran of a ramp in DR just by closing a window I think)

At first I want to apologize to Xordan for over-reacting, dueling is something that a lot of us enjoy in it and that is why I took it so personally…

There is new feature added that prevent monsters to be attacked from distance, and with this take them away from someone, great feature and I totally agree with it and support it. But here come dueling, and unfortunately this affect also the attacking of players, you have to be less than a meter away to be able to start the attack… this ruin dueling, I think dueling should not be start the attack and watch wath happen… if so there is not point in dueling… and I don’t think is OOC, some player action, because if so, than make also metalurgy, mining and crafting such, that you just come on the mine, and watch your character mining for an hour until have a full load of gold… but I think we are all enough smart to understand, that a game is not watching a character doing something, but managing your character doing something… and honestly I don’t see why dueling should be an exsception to this. On the other hand I see many problems in such dueling system… I would say that as long as weapons have speed, this can’t work well, my favorite weapon is claymore, and it have speed 5, so it means that I get 3,3 hits of a dagger before I make 1 hit with my claymore. Well ok, if this will not be enough, I will give more reasons why not this system, but I think saying that watching a movie of medieval wars is more interesting than watching 2 3d characters combat without having any influence of them should be enough. Oh yes, and don’t say that you can go again back when you start the attack, because this only give more advantage to daggers.

This situation occurs randomly so I’d test this at least 10 times before saying “not able to duplicate.”

Occurs with gladiators/rogues in arena.

[using following shortcut]
1. /target clear /target next npc /attack bloody/normal

scenario 1:
-char mode changed to bloody/normal attack stance
-NPC nor char doesn’t procede to hit/block/dodge, essentially the char is suspended in the fight stance animation.

scenario 2:
-char mode changed to bloody/normal attack stance
-NPC and char procedue to engage in battle, as displayed by hits/blocks/dodges etc.
-midway or at any point in fight the NPC and Char stops attacking. Both fighting animations continue or NPC fighting animation stops

scenario 1 and 2 seems same except scenario 1 occurs at time 0, and scenario 2 occurs beyond time 0.

attacking again sometimes starts the combat again, but with varied results. usually engages battle, but there were times where I have had to hit the shortcut up to 4 times to engage again.

situation also occurs with using the fight icon.

Ok but don’t know when I’ll get to it. Listening to people ask about placement of furniture, it probably should be possible to orient the item in a certain direction, too. Sounds like this could get complicated quick ;)
Also would be nice if, when dragging, the item appeared translucently on the ground where it would appear when dropped, already in the right orientation. *dreams* I’ll see what I can do.

When a location is stored, the orientation of the item is stored too, right? Wouldn’t it be possible to let a player edit the orientation of the items he guards? Perhaps a command could be made “/turn <degrees to turn> <right or left>”. Or perhaps when right-clicking furniture you could get two arrows displayed on the context menu which allow you to twist an item 30 degrees per time.

“Wireframe” placing like in the Sims would be great, but a tad too ambitious for now I think.

PlaneShift was running rather smoothly in the previous version.
Now it’s lagging, but even more, it puts a really huge load on the whole system, which wasn’t the case with the 0.3.019.

The top command on linux said that PS was using 120 % of the CPU, and the load average was still increasing (above 3, which is very much) until I killed the application (the mouse was too slow to close it correctly).

Have other linux users experienced the same ?

32 bits Debian, running 2.6.22 kernel with Nvidia drivers.

Updated 13-12-2008:
This report is no longer only for the crash when running into a wall when minimized, but for all crashes in the !leaf_replaced code. Summarizing from below:
- crash is in PS code, resulting from a bounding box in the culler having NAN for one of the coordinates

- people report this happening (often) with the released client, but not with debug ones.

- for debug build the crash can sometimes be triggered when running in a wall minimized (see call stacks and comments).

This also works when minimizing and bringing back the console window while looking at the main PS window.
Setting this high priority because it may lead to many crashes during map loads when someone minimizes during the load, his character passes through the loading border and hits a wall, the person switches back to PS again and crashes.

Teleporting to a new map seems to not properly unload the previous map at times. One can go back to the previous map with almost no loading time. Over the course of a long GM event with a fair about of map travel, one’s system can get very bogged down with many maps kept in memory.

my charicter (calak) has goten stuck in the forrest i tryed to unstick it would not work then i let a GM know about it thay offered to move me i said no it is ok i will use /die however after i typed the /die command i was regestered as dead but it did not do the movie like thing that shows you fall to the ground and i was not moved into the death realm so i notafyed the GM about this and kindly asked if he could move me to a working position but the movement by the GM did not work aswell so i am now stuck in the forrest…. now this is not a problem for me as all i do is chat to friends however i can see it becoming a big problem for others my sys specks are

 mac OS X 10.5.3
 64 mb of VRAM
 1 gb of RAM 

anything els needed? i dont know so if theres any other info needed please say so

Hello everyone.
After server updated today I have a problem in working with blades.
I have Blacksmith-41 and Sword Making-23. I could craft simple sabres before, and quality of my blades were about 150-190.
But now very weird things happening.
1. Quality of blade raises up to 300 just in result of heating. So, I have managed to get a Dull Saber Blade 300/300 only by heating and quenching it.
2. I cannot sharpen a saber blade. A sharpening stone tells me “This is a bit beyond your skills at this moment”. I tried to reshape a blade in order to lower a quality of blade, but even 183/183 quality blade cannot be sharpen.
3. All “Sharpen…” entries have disappeared from my “Book of Blades”.

This was happening at Harnquist smith shop right after update. I did not change location, just returned to forge and proceeded working. I moved to Veja’s equipment and this phenomena reproduces there as well.

It seems when you cast the weakness spell repeatedly, it eventually backfires. You begin to lose your own health in an accelerated manner until you die. Not sure if this is a feature…let’s hope not. ;)

This must be very new because it was not doing this yesterday or even earlier today. Hilon was online and I mentioned it to him. He tested it and confirmed.

/unstick has no effect but a relog stopped it. This doesn’t seem to happen with other spells, only weakness.

1 - Scrolling the SC bar with the mouse wheel also changes the zoom [BUG] FIXED

2 - Moving of a short cut overwrites the old one – likely to cause problems with people randomly deleting SCs they want. [FEAT]

3 - The SCs are scrolled in pages. If at the end of a page you have one ‘cell’ left and the next SC is 2 or more cells wide (like those with long names) then the SC will appear on the next page but if its two cells long only 1 cell will show and it acts as if the SC button is cut in half. The same is true if the page has 2 cells left but the next SC is 3 or more cells wide. [BUG]

3a - scrolling also scrolls more than one page, so you lose shortcuts as they never appear in the list.

4 - Align HP/MP bars to button display area in vertical config. [FEAT]

5 - Scroll bar needs one of those blocks to show how far up/down you have scrolled, which you can also drag to scroll up/down.

6 - If you right click to edit a short cut and then move the shortcut while the window is open you duplicate the short cut and when you click done the edit window saves the short cut in the original position so you have duplicated the shortcut. [BUG]

When loading the game, and it loads the area (map), I get the “Loading Region Failure” notice and then the client must be terminated by clicking ok. Multiple attempts at trying to bring the same character back result in same issue. Sometimes, I am able to bring a different character in who is a different area, log out and relog my original character and it will correct itself. On serval occasions I must do a complete reboot in order to clear out the problem. I dont know if there is a report generated about this or not. If so, and you can tell me where or what its called..I will add it into the comments.

- Riveter has a rock pick but there is a custom riveter icon.

- Pestle uses the ladle icon but there is already a pestle icon.

Similar examples could probably be commented in this report to make things easier for everyone.

Feature Request 2340 NoLowClosedTristan CragnoliniRoland Schulz Drop Command 16.07.200926 Task Description

Syntax: /drop [Qty] <itemname>

Qty is optional, default 1, max 65 (stack size)
Itemname is required, searches first in inventory, then in containers.
Drop location is pos of player, including angle.
Perhaps the command should only work when standing, not walking/running/sitting.

Simple method might be to repeat the drop of 1 of the item until no more found or specified qty (or 1) has been dropped. Harder would be to dig enough from various stack slots to make one stack to drop, and I’d think targetable singles would be preferable.

If this is deemed not desirable for players, please make this a GM Feature Request. It would be handy for setting up scenes with evenly spaced / uniformly oriented items.

Reported to me via /help and confirmed visually, the rogue has got into the rock. Elvors told me he were afk a moment and when back the Rogue where inside the rock (Elvors were on the rock casting summon missile).

Since the 4.01 update, the forest north to hydlaa (hybdr map) is completely black, you can only see characters. Replacing the file art/world/hybdr.zip with the version shipped with the 4.00 client removed the problem.

At time of reporting this bug, the most recent version of hybdr.zip was the only version exposing this behavior.

Update: this seems still the case with latest testing art.
Last info for reproducing:
at game time 1 am: logged in in bdroad01 - completely dark. And the road outside Hydlaa too.

As i posted first in a petition ,and promised to Mordraugion that if i can repeat the bug i post all the details abot this:

In my inventory 50 diferent weapons

in 3 sack 33 tipes of daggers + 10 common

2 tipes of short sword + 6 common

11 tipes of broad sword +18 common

1 silver falch

Every try to sell the common ones at shop crash the games without any error ,tried to sell them in Hydlaa , Oja at diferent mechants

Since i can sell the potion from loot think is related with the large number of wepons type.

Not sure if is related with this but also the weapons looted not stacked if is sack ( only 1 weapon a dagger, the sack had 16/30 cap but i could stack manual the weapon inside)

The way i found to sell the weapons was to depost the weapons ona an alt char.
If needed i can try diferent combinations of weapons type or number,or give any other details of my inventory

Short summary:
The bug: inventory becomes empty when having many items in them. Items are still in the DB. Solvable by having a gm remove items or selling them, until things are visible again. Putting them back at that moment, they stay visible, but they dissappear after a relog. Not putting them back, the problem is gone for a while.
How current is this: Original report was version 0.4.00. It was reported fixed by Khaki, but could be reproduced later with the same character, and of 11-2008, just before the release of 0.403. Never reproduced on local systems. See Weltalls comment near the end.

today at 8:45pm GMT my alt character ROMEGA lost all items in inventory
while this might not seem a big thing . . i used him as a store for my main character grizzlyus to hold all daggers grizzlyus had collected. I role play grizzlyus as a fanatical dagger collector
for the last year every dagger i looted and all those that my guldmates looted as well ( they would give daggers they found as well ) was stored on romega in 10 sacks

events just before this happening were . . ..

i had just transfered 8 daggers from grizzlyus to romega , ,, both characters main boxes showed 8 daggers had been transfered. . .when i checked romega’s inv. . .they were not there
on advice of my guildmates i relogged romega . . .i then found EVERYTHING in his inv had gone. . all 10 sacks of rare daggers even the few tri’s he had
PLEASE HELP

this is a worring bug . . not to mention soul destroying for me after 1 year of dagger collecting . .i had some of the most valuable and rare daggers in game . .not to mention some top quality crafted daggers

i hope you can some how restore my characters inventory

When using a Razormail Short Sword of Seduction, on dequip, the Stats CHA, INT and WIL remain degraded 40 points each until relog. This is a cummulative effect. Repeated equipping/dequipping can even get manapoint down to -1/0.

This is not the case with a standard Short Sword of Seduction.
