Bug Report6664NoSoundMediumUnconfirmedJoshuaInstrument White Noise (Lute & Lira)06.11.201411 Task Description

Some of the musical notes, when using the Lute and Lira (drum seems okay), have an annoying white noise in the background. The audio is not clean, and this can be bothersome particularly to people with high-end headphones who may be able to hear it better. I am not sure if this is audible to all players, but it certainly should be to anyone with a good pair of headphones.

Some popping sounds can also be heard.

I am not too knowledgeable on music, so I can’t say which notes specifically have unclean sound, but I think since it can be heard plainly it should be easy to find out.

Feature Request6668NoQuestsMediumUnconfirmedJoshuaVenalanQuest completion warnings. (And safer quests.)14.11.201412 Task Description

Sometimes when talking to an NPC during a quest, it’s not obvious that saying something will end it early. For example, in the Dizzy Bevon quest, telling Charisa that you can’t get into the Winch abruptly ends it. Meaning you will never see the rest of that quest, even if you get Winch access. I thought that she would wait instead, which would be more fair to players. Apparently this game wasn’t as forgiving as I imagined. Failing quests is especially annoying when it involves typed answers too, where a typo or not being specific enough will cost you the quest. (Even if you knew the right answer.)

First of all, I feel there shouldn’t be an option to finish a quest early unless you fail, the options being either you complete it fully or save it for later. This would be much more player-friendly. I didn’t even fail the quest, I just couldn’t get into the Winch. I feel like I was punished for being honest, and possibly have missed out on some reputation forever.

Who in the right mind would back out of a quest after accepting it, anyway? I doubt anyone does it intentionally. These sorts of choices should be greatly reduced. It only makes sense during evil quests where you might feel bad about what you’re doing. If someone is feeling lazy or is busy, then they can complete the quest later, like in any other game. If these dialog options are going to remain in the game, then it may be better if they had a warning such as (ENDS QUEST), while the true ending of the quest could say (COMPLETES QUEST). This would help players avoid making infuriating mistakes like mine.

Secondly, sometimes it is too easy to fail a quest when typed answers are involved. In the Stolen Dagger (sp?) quest from Ojaveda where you have to tell Enach what it looked like, if you say “diamond”, or “diamonds”, instead of “diamonds and opals”, you will get the uneventful ending. This is made even more ridiculous because the answer is in your quest log, so it shouldn’t be possible to get it incorrect anyway. But you only get one chance. Basically, I feel quests that rely on typed text should be more forgiving, because sometimes it’s not about whether you’re right or wrong. Rather, it may depend on how many variations of the correct answer there are, so a lot of the time it isn’t the player’s fault. Sure, maybe “diamond” isn’t that specific, but it definitely narrows it down. If I say diamond, Enack should say something like “Anything else?”.

Currently, all crafting requires a full setup of equipment (fixed-in-the-world crafting containers) for that craft. This makes sense for some crafting skills such as blacksmithing and to an extent alchemy; however, basic cooking and herbalism (and other crafts TBD) should be possible with only portable crafting containers (such as a campfire and pan or a simple, portable mortar and pestle). This would also require new crafting books: “Campfire Recipes” anyone?

Bug Report6148NoEngineMediumUnconfirmedKris EricksonHaving issues with drifter - unable to name and two in ...07.09.20131 Task Description

(I think the severity is low, but I was unable to change it.)

I have spent days trying to name my drifter with various names. I have confirmed I am using the correct command. /pet name [name] while having the drifter highlighted. I also tried various versions of this…
/pet name {name}
/pet 1, name [name]
/pet 1, name {name}
along with many, many different names. They all come back invalid.

Then, after several days of trying, I received the message, “You have no familiar to command.” So, I tried to dismiss my familiar and received the message, “Your pet has already returned to the netherworld.” I was standing there, in game, looking at the glider when I received all these messages. So I tried to summon the pet and another one popped up, so I had two in game at the same time, both named, Aszrai’s Familiar.

If nothing else, please remove the second (or both) familiar from the game. But it would be nice to find a way to name my familiar, but not a priority.

I have an image, which shows them both near the smithy in Hydlaa, but I was unable to figure out how to attach it here. I’m sure one drifter will stick around at the smithy for quite some time.

Thanks for your time and help!

Feature Request4513NoUser InterfaceMediumNewMario RohkrämerCombat ratings in /targetinfo should mention a defense ...07.06.20101 Task Description

It is only partially helpful to estimate if an opponent is more or less stronger than my own char, as long as I don't estimate its defensive qualities too. I would like to see a pair of chances to get hurt by it, and chances to be able to hurt it. Especially since some oppoments are so well armored that even "Extraordinary" quality crafted weapons won't do any damage as long as the character has only average weapon skills. And it is quite vital to estimate the chance of breaking the armor before starting a fight. Even if the opponent is "about as strong as" the character, it is not just risky but suicidal if the opponent is the only one which has any chance to hurt.

Feature Request5433NoUser InterfaceMediumUnconfirmedMario RohkrämerNeed a filename prompt when saving a book17.11.201112 Task Description

A book is saved on the local disk with the custom title entered while writing its content. This is very inconvenient if the book has a quite verbose title, then the filename is just as verbose, and if you want to load this text into a copy of this book, you need to type exactly the same book title into the loading filename dialog. Or you need to know where books are located outside the game and rename the saved file there.

I'd like to be able to specify a brief filename to save a book to. The filename dialog may be pre-filled with the suggested filename based on the book title, but I'd like to change it before saving, if desired.

Feature Request5638NoCrashesHighNewMario RohkrämerOverhaul errorlog.txt usage, make it contain useful con...02.08.201415 Task Description

There are numerous (at least dozens) complaints in the forum that (especially under Windows) the errorlog.txt contains only uninteresting default errors which are not at all critical, but misses really useful and critical entries instead.

The whole “error console” concept is nonsense for Windows users. Windows builds don’t output anything useful in the console they are started from, and this would be the only console where output could be redirected to files.

If you call the client with the parameter “–console”, a new console is opened, but this one can’t be redirected with “>” or “2>”, you would have to mouse-select as much as you can keep in its history. Most PC users will not know enough about Windows to tweak this console window, maybe not even know how to select and copy from it. On Windows 7 it is even worse, when the client crashed, the new console is nearly disabled, so you almost cannot select and copy text from it after a crash.

Feature Request5698NoQuests DynamicsMediumUnconfirmedMario RohkrämerPet race selection for old characters redoing the quest...19.07.20121 Task Description

Several players of old characters who had a Groffel as pet before the quest wipe, and have to redo the pet quest, are unsatisfied that they don’t get a Groffel again, but a Yulbar instead. See: Status of Our Old Pets

May be that Yulbars didn’t exist at all when they got their pet.

May be that Yulbars are somehow preferred now, or there are just no complaints about Groffels so there is a bias about it.

Would it be possible (without extreme efforts) to ensure that redoing this quest creates the same pet race as before? Or would it be possible in cases of old characters redoing the quest after years that they are allowed to chose the race — for emotional reasons?

Bug Report6742NoInventory/ItemsMediumUnconfirmedMario RohkrämerLogin with less than full health02.01.20151 Task Description

Logging out after a longer time of idling, one would expect to login with full health later. But I noticed that my health is a little lower and starts regenerating after I logged in. This is especially obvious for characters with not yet maxed stats, appears to be a relative impact.

I wonder if this is caused by buffing armor parts, e.g. Ulbernaut Bracers (+8 Strength, boosting HP too, indirectly). I could imagine that the max. HP are calculated without buffs, and the current health gets limited to this lower maximum (lower than while logging out previously); then the engine loads armor parts after logging in and has to update the HP maximum, which is now higher with buffs, and the current HP get a headroom to fill up.

Bug Report7062NoCombatLowUnconfirmedMichael LoevenCombat Spellcasting seems to allow enemy damage to bypa...13.12.20201 Task Description

There seems to be a problem with how incoming damage is being handled when casting spells in combat. The primary issue appears to be a glitch when casting a offensive spell where the player will loose their combat stance and be treated as out of combat which this seems to have the (hopefully)unintended effect of allowing incoming damage to bypass the players defenses completely any skills / abilities to reduce the damage and even seeming to nullify the effects of the players armor allowing creatures to directly deal massive hits directly to the players hp similar to if they were completely unarmed and unarmored. The result can a normally harmless enemy suddenly dealing critical damage and causing instantaneous death depending on the situation.

Expected behavior would be to not allow melee attacks during spell casting however the player should remain in the selected combat stance to ensure that armor and evasion occurs properly and melee attacks may be automatically resumed after the casting completes.

Feature Request4256NoQuestsMediumAssignedmickraJayRuaanAlison ColemankatuRon WhitbySemutaradrJackTilavi is in trouble, option request05.08.20101 Task Description

The quest objective is to help a certain NPC find a missing object, that's what my char agreed to do. After finding the object and proceeding to final steps I suddenly receive a ready-made line "X listens to your story" and find my char spilling its friend and ally's whereabouts to X, with me having absolutely no means to prevent or stop it. Honest, it feels like being godmodded by the quest system and is awfully disappointing, to say the least. It also clashes with the general idea of quests being done ICly.

Dear Devs, please add a "not squealing" option, something like "I've just found it somewhere" and let the player deal with one of the main ingame alignments (Law) according to that player's RP. The way it is done now, it's not C&C, it's M&C, having to bear with consequences of the game mechanics, and somehow it doesn't feel right… at all.

i ran into a bug that nearly got me killed today. i was fighting gobbles and i ran low on health and had to run away. as i was running another player cast flame burst on the gobble chasing me.

the gobble chasing me did not stop chasing me but i was no longer able to attack it because it said i must be grouped with X mean while the gobble was still damaging me.

this can be fixed one of 2 ways. the targeted player always has kill rights on the monster or the monster changes it’s target when a new playr engages it.

but as it stands it is rather scary when your being attacked and cannot defend yourself due to a bug in the kill stealing prevention system.

Feature Request6567NoNPC DialogMediumNewmike loevenMake Npc's aware of nearby quest characters and attempt...22.08.201411 Task Description

I would like to see npc’s function as locators for quest characters so that players can “ask around town” if they cannot locate the desired npc.

until now due to the gm’s policy about spoilers and the fact that most NPC’s are pretty much brain dead except for a few very basic responses it is sometimes next to impossible to locate a specific NPC without relying on another player or a wiki website as the information is not available ingame.

essentially I want NPC’s to respond to commands such as “do you know where I can find ‘name’” they should be able to check a database of nearby NPS’s and if they are in range they can point you in the direction or if not in range point you towards an NPC that does.

sample response. “yes i have heard of this ‘name’ you can find him over by “description of location pulled from database”.

sample responce out of range.

“I have not heard that name before perhaps you should try asking ‘NPC near desired character’ in ‘city near desired NPC’

but essentially make NPC’s able to give directions or information about other NPC’s or directions to nearby areas

right now it is nearly impossible to get any information about quests without relying on other players. Npc’s should respond to questions of this nature.

Feature Request6568NoPetsLowNewmike loevenPack Animals and or Carts for Merchants or Miners22.08.20141 Task Description

Now that we have a working pet AI that can properly follow a player it may be an appropriate time to suggest the addition of something to cater to tradesmen such as traveling merchants and miners who are frequently overloaded by the weight of their inventory.

There is already evidence of large beasts of burden and carts in game and it may be time to implement Pack Animals or a small cart you can pull yourself to increase your overall carrying capacity. aside from the obvious utility value it would also add some RP value allowing merchants to sell directly out of their carts and have enough inventory on hand to negotiate deals along the roads.

I would like to see a icon selector integrated into the book writing window that allows you to select any book icon for the item’s appearance similar to the way you can assign these icons to a shortcut hot button.

additionally with this implementation there is no longer a need for Jayose to stock a different books for different colors as well as allowing player written books to be more easily distinguished from each other

it would add a fun little cosmetic aspect to role play allowing your ancient tome to look like an ancient tome rather than a hot off the press notebook
