Shorty - Your expression in the hurdle-jumping picture is hilarious.

Lirreka - Reminds me of a JRPG character. Only less 'prepubescent' and more... hot.

Earl - What the heck is that thing? Is it a man or a woman, or some kind of demon?

Edit: Gah, Peacer, you stud... Now I'm jealous...

I wanna see Cloverfield... looks endearing...

Here's a few more:

- Nobody believes the protagonist at first, until the same non-believer is found decapitated in a closet. At which point, the protagonist is blamed.

- The normal human response to ANY threatening situation is to either a) stand still and scream until the situation resolves itself, or b) barricade yourself in an enclosed area with no communication to the outside world and expect to be rescued.

- The required reply to ANY plan is "That will never work! We're all going to die!"

- The government is always evil, and interested only in nuking stuff to solve their problems

- When horror is involved, the normal mathematical laws of probability no longer apply.

I just saw AVPR recently. It's the comedy of the year! I was laughing my arse off the whole way through!

{This thread has a point... It's not a logical, well-thought-out, sophisticated point... or even particularly pointy, but it's a point. Maybe more of a line...}

Noticed that with the Wii, newbishness is directly proportional to awkward, superfluous movement.

Anyway, the problem with the Wii is that it's more of a party game. It's just not that fun on your own...

Can I be the psycho fan who will inevitably shoot the lead singer on-stage?

Yeah. Or at least get half of the guys to pretend to be an attractive young lady...

because it's something that Phinehas does... So I wouldn't need to include "He tends to smile wistfully when staring at fires," in my description, because I actually do it.

Cute. But one shouldn't make the mistake of thinking of their characters as real. That's one of the worst things a writer can do. When your characters become your friends, the range of things you feel comfortable putting them through becomes limited. And suddenly it's not just a figment of your imagination that's being insulted or stabbed...

Does that mean very determined individuals could stomp their names into the ground? :P

I do wish that Talad would stop using the 'F' word (free) as an excuse for any of the games ills. Because that's bolox. Just because something is free has nothing to do with its quality, it's to do with the attitudes of your developers; so don't do it again.

That's true, though I can see both sides.

If I wasn't such a talentless hack, I probably would've joined the team about a year ago. By now I probably would have made a significant (or, at least 'noticeable') contribution to PS, which I would be very proud of. If someone said "you should work harder, for absolutely no reason other than my impatience", I'd be pretty pissed. What do any of the devs owe us?

Then again, it IS frustrating when you're enjoying a game, only to find that the devs don't really care about it ("I'm just a volunteer, it's not my problem if you're not satisfied"). I'd prefer if Talad was deeply hurt by allegations that his game should be better, rather than shrugging it off.

"I have an opinion"

"I acknowledge your opinion, but will not agree or disagree for fear of digressing from the original topic."

"I thank you for your discretion in this matter, so that we may all continue to discuss the initial topic at hand."

What the hell kind of fun is that?

Complaint Department / Re: Fininte naming conventions
« on: January 02, 2008, 07:53:41 pm »
There's only one way around the whole 'finite names' thing I can think of. It's a system employed in Anarchy Online (and I think also 'Matrix Online', and a few others).

Basically, your primary name is your 'nickname'. It's the name that the system responds to, and the name that appears in chat/groups. But you can also choose first names and last names, which can be duplicates of other names. OOC, people are referred to by nicknames, but IC they're often ignored - going by the first and last names you chose yourself (which, outside of RP, are inconsequential). The nicknames are unique, and can be virtually anything, giving an unlimited number of monikers.

It would get around the problem of  90% of the decent names being taken by people who'll never come back (plus their alts) and may even force people to think harder about their characters (i.e. "So, where'd you get a nickname like that?")

Just, thinking out loud here...

When you ask a question which has been answered a thousand times, you can't expect to get away with it completely unscathed :P

General Discussion / Re: RPing an idiot [a thankyoupost ))]
« on: January 01, 2008, 08:49:12 pm »
I used to RP a mentally disturbed psychopath who had his tongue cut out and replaced with a snake's. He would refer to people as "this one", or some abstract personality trait and to himself in the third person. It was endlessly entertaining, especially when people assume that you're doing it out of ignorance.  I made a thread about it here

Of 'course, I'm not the type of person who worries about being considered an idiot, as some of you may know :P
