good ideas derwoodly. :D  the only complaint i can see though is with the 15 minute span between duels.  i could better understand 30 seconds or 1 minute, but with 15 minute wait some people who actually want to duel each other multiple times would be a little frustrated.

some of the basic ideas that have been said here seem to go something like this:

ranged(archery, throwing, ect): feats of accuracy and juggling

melee(swords, maces, hand to hand...): feats of strength and skill

arcane(magic, ect): showy spells

rogue(stealthy, subversive...): pranks and prank items

There have been some really good ideas in this thread... i wonder what we can come up with next?

rumor:
the character creation in cb has been given a major overhaul(meaning that this problem has been addressed as well as many other balancing factors?).

fact:
the only part of character creation in mb that has any actual affect on the character is how the character looks(theres no point right now in choosing advantages/disadvantages, stats, skills, ect.).

I seriously think that the RIAA and the US government are getting way out of control on this thing.  IMO, i think they went the wrong direction right from the start(Ex: RIAA vs Napster).  Besides, why should the ordinary american have to pay for a minor slump in the RIAA\'s profits by sueing everyone and their dead grandmother?  What does everyone else think?

ngefan: DM is a shortcut of saying dungeon master for dungeons and dragons, a pen and paper roleplaying game.  if you really want to know how DnD is played, go to your local card shop or book store and hang out in the fantasy section.

i doubt that appkilling(yes, new terminology) is going to affect others gameplay since the current plans are going to limit PvP anyways.  besides, wouldn\'t it just be easier to /yield than to alt+f4, reload and re-login?

nice idea mercenary, perhaps the warriors can even do some kind of fancy weapons dance if the players can time their moves right. :P  the kind of displays, for example, that can be found in some martial arts or action movies.

um, ngefan....  the idea here is simply showy, what you are suggesting could very well could lead to griefing.

The only way i can think of such an idea existing right now(since im depriving myself of sleep) is how UO has their PvP and PvE system set up(to the best of my knowledge).  the method there is having two facets of a single world, one where PvP is allowed, the other where PvP is not allowed.  one can at any time go between these two facets with one exception, players flagged as murderers cannot travel to the non-PvP facet without dieing.  i get the feeling that this isnt quite what you had in mind though.

the whole bouncy thing wouldnt be as hard as you might think, its just working with collision boxes and a bit of math.  of course one should be careful on how that would be implemented into a game since there could be a grief factor involved.
