Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Slo-Motion Music
« on: April 17, 2012, 07:26:49 pm »
Yeah, got a peculiar problem. When I use a music score I made, each note is played with a MASSIVE delay between them. This only happens on that particular score. when I played a different one, it worked just fine.

I even saved it and loaded it into a different score, it still played slomo.

EDIT: I decided to be awesome like I usually am and did some snooping. Apparently the sixteenth note is bugged, as when I deleted it out of there the slow motion went away.

Single Author Stories / Legend of the Consumer
« on: September 04, 2011, 12:11:23 am »
My first story written here, might be my only one. It isnt very good, but its an idea I had. Something had to create the initial niche Talad and Laanx found didn't it?
[Like any good story begins...]

THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO. (or the yliakum equivalent of ancient times)

"Talad?" a soft voice whispered in the god's ears, the silken whisper of Laanx. "It's so empty here Talad."

The ebony figure was forced to agree, this dark cavern they had found after extensive search through realms only a God could imagine seemed devoid of life. But he had not forgotten why they had came. Both himself and Laanx had sensed great potential in this massive stalactite that Vodùl had shown them.

Both gods were suspended in the middle of a room, the twinkle of an Azure Sun was dimmed with distance. As his powerful eyes scanned all the way to the walls of the great niche, Talad could tell this cavern was not as dull as Laanx seemed to believe.

"Can you feel it Laanx?" Talad spoke; his rich, booming baritone echoed around them.

She shook her head, icy white locks drifting through the air at the pace of falling snowflakes. "I cannot... But I hear it."

As if given a universal que, a sound deeper than even mighty Talad's voice resounded through the cavern. Visible to Talad, boulders began to tumble down the sides of the walls, creating the smashing clamor only rocks can, but still the roar was heard over them. At the closest end to Talad, a great crack split the walls, hairline fractures growing out from its sides. All at once the great niche's wall shattered.

Out from the wall of Yliakum came one of its oldest denizens. Even before the dust cleared its mighty maw was visible to even Laanx's inferior sight. Impossible circles of teeth stretched back into a void no creature could fathom escape from. Talad felt that it could see the two of them even if they chose to become invisible, even as it became clear it had no eyes. Its skin appeared to have been forged from the hardest metals, as the great rocks torn from the walls shattered or bounced off upon touching its mixed, black and grey skin. Even eternal dust was cast aside as row after row of pointed, spearhead legs clamored down the walls, piercing into them to create a hold. It roared once more, directed towards the duo of immortals.

It was no roar of challenge, a being of this magnitude had no need to assert dominance over two puny glowing figures. It was a roar simply to announce its own presence, to pound into even a God's head that it was here, and was not to be trifled with.

Laanx examined the creature carefully, crimson eyes pouring over its behemoth body. "What is that Talad? Why could we not see it?"

The god pondered his next words carefully, as an explanation for why a god could not sense a creature of that magnitude crawling through the dark. He spoke out, quietly in honor of the beast before them.

"Because that is pure Yliakan, we could not see it without awe."

With immortal speed the duo left the cavern, the Labyrinthine Consumer not gracing them with a parting bellow. There was much left to explore for the Gods on this planet.

Many cycles later the two had to return to this niche, but words cannot be written to explain what Talad and Laanx had done to convince such beasts to confine themselves from space they gouged from dirt and stone for themselves. No words cast from mortal hands. However... As we live and breathe inside our levels and tell ourselves how Yliakum is our home, the ground is restless. No bargain lasts forever. Pure Yliakan will not remain silenced forever, and even the gods shall be in awe.

Granted or negated Wishes / Self Destruct
« on: August 25, 2011, 06:05:38 pm »
I had an idea that will probably only be considered way far into the future for a RW spell. Its been in my head for a long time, and I figured I might as well present it on the forums. (link me the topic if its been said before and ill just bump that one)

Self Destruct (name debatable): Realm 3-4 spell that upon death, causes you to discharge an AOE damaging effect. You MUST die for this spell to activate, but you can deactivate it if you find yourself not needing it anymore. (Maybe with some kind of penalty to prevent every RW mage just using it whenever to discourage attackers)

Now, you must be wondering 'Well then wont every RW mage just wait and use it at the very last second to screw over their attacker?'. You'd be right, but there's where a debuff would come it

Upon casting the spell, in the little buff/debuff window under debuffs 'Charging' or something similar would be listed. And every few seconds you'd take damage depending on the % you put into the spell, essentially dooming yourself if you just let it run. But, the longer it stays on you, the more the spell charges up. From being relatively weak if you were to do it at the last moment, to a powerful bomb if you started it at full health. That should prevent some abuse of it.

(MODIFIED DUE TO BETTER SUGGESTIONS): It might be best to have a new Explosion glyph required for the spell, and a combination of Explosion+Humanoid.

General Discussion / Suicide
« on: May 10, 2011, 05:34:55 pm »
I've always wondered something... I see a lot of suicides in game. Hell, its almost a biweekly occurence, so its made me think of this question.

Suicide is giving up on your drive to live, and having no will to live makes you die permanently... So shouldn't suicide do the same?

Lets assume that the characters know that having no will to live will end you forever. If they saw someone commit suicide and yet still pop back up, would they know it was pretty much just an attention stunt? Or do the people not know about the will thing?

Thoughts? Comments? Maybe an answer to this that i didnt see?

General Discussion / Jailbreaks
« on: October 09, 2010, 03:29:21 pm »
Now I know this has probably had a billion discussions, but I'm going to get my two cents in. I've got a plan outlined that would theoretically, at least enable you to get into the jail. It would require a crapload of Gm cooperation, because NPCS would have to be used. But wouldn't a jailbreak GM event be something fun for everyone? Say your character doesn't like the person being sprung, help hunt him down! Say your character does, help him escape!

Ill outline the plan here, please, help poke holes in it to be fixed! (big holes, not just tiny tiny things.)

From what I learned from GMS, tbe prison is pretty much impervious to magic attacks like burning down the door. This would mean it has some sort of strong magical barrier. There is also the matter of unlocking the door and cells, and getting past Taulim and the (unseeable at least) other guards protecting the jail.

Let us assume that all guards eventually get around to doing different jobs protecting the city, as most guards do. Some days you're just on patrol, other days you're guarding different parts of the city like the jail. From what I've learned doing quests, Bevon isn't the brightest tool in the shed. It wouldn't be the most difficult task to have someone distract him, or perhaps dress up like a guard yourself and steal his keys (or just trick him in your fake guard suit into just giving them to you) Viola, you can get into the door and cells.

Before you can get to the door at all though, there is the matter of the magical barrier protecting the jail. After doing several quests involving Levrus, you can deduce he's often 'not all there'. He is also old, and seems to be at least a little bit lonely after the loss of his apprentice. By whatever means necessary, either by paying him or tricking him, you might acquire a means of breaking down magical barriers. (Though there may not be any surrounding the prison at all, im just guessing)

Alright, you can get past any magical protection, and open up the doors, but what about Taulim (and the invisible other guards) standing guard around the jail? Here's where money comes into the mix. Either by Ukanbu or Zak, you could pay one of them (preferably one that you've gotten to like you the most, and also with a high theives faction level) to go and jangle themselves around in front of the guard house, obviously causing the guards to have to give chase. Someone like Zak is obviously an expert at getting away from people trying to kill him, so you could be almost certain he would be safe if you're worried about him.

Alright, you can sneak past Taulim, and get inside the jail, but what now? The jail would have to have guards inside. This could take timing, and is the most inexact part of the break. Guards change shifts, its inevitable, but if you got right between the times where the old guards are going out, and the new ones are coming in, there would be significantly less of them. You would have to either overpower, or use some tricky magic and or items to get past the few that remain inside. Then of course you've got to open up your friends cell, and escape with him/her against a tide of other players and or guards.

Now then, poke away.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Windows 7 problems
« on: August 25, 2010, 10:58:44 pm »
Hello there, thanks for taking the time to look at this topic!

I use windows 7, and have been trying to get planeshift to work itself out for nigh a week. Sometimes it will work for upwards of 30 minutes, but always, ALWAYS, it crashes. It will either say 'psclient.exe has stopped working' and then ill have to hit OK and it X's out of everything, or the game will just disappear, and the start window will pop up again.

Ive tried it on every graphic setting. its just as likely to work for a long time on lowest as it is on high.

Ive tried changing the compatibility mode, the ones avalible were windows 2008 service pack one (or something similar) windows vista, windows vista service pack 1 and 2. Nothing!

anything to reccomend to me? Is one service pack better and i just got unlucky? I do 'run as administrator' btw.
