The Organisation is looking for a new leader. The role should be permanent, unless something goes quite wrong. We are an old guild, once with over one hundred and twenty five members. As many of our members are either dead or gone, a primary role of this leader will be to recruit, and have the guild lively again. For the leader's accommodation, we have a Guildhouse that is meant to be used for the members, and any events that the leader wishes to hold. [OOC info: Yes, all said above is true, we are looking for a new leader to revive the guild, and make it far more RP oriented if possible. We would appreciate an experienced player and RPer with about 6 months of playing if possible, and yes... We do have a Guild House, and a Library. We would appreciate it if they could be used for RP as much as possible. If you can do this for our guild, you will be incredibly appreciated.

This may not work for one reason or another, but I'll give it a go... The mechanics for the guilds right now are basically dictatorships(Although, I realize that the definition can be slightly changed with giving permissions.)

By dictatorship I mean that there is one leader who gives people permissions... So even if he gave people full permissions, a guild with an inactive leader is fairly useless.

So, my 'wish' is for there to be different guild types. One perhaps a republic with multiple leaders. Another, a Democracy(I'm not sure if I'm using the right word) where if enough of the members vote it so, the leader can be kicked and another appointed. I also understand that these can technically be done within the guild's RP limits, but would be a nice little addition to mechanics imo.

I know this game is 100% free and I am ever grateful for this, but why doesn't Planeshift put ads on maybe the sides of their forums? It could give Planeshift a tiny bit of funding when they need it etc. I personally wouldn't find it a bother, maybe others would... But I could only see more good come out of it than bad. If this has already been addressed, I am sorry.

Here's a simple philosophical question for all of you  out there:

Real Story: There was a crew of 4 on a ship, abandoned and in turmoil. They had no food or water for 17 days. One of the people was a cabin boy and was sick, because he had drank sea water. The other 3 decided to kill the cabin boy and eat him. For three days they were eating the boy, and on the fourth day were rescued. Was this right or should all 4 have died? Would it be right if they asked for the cabin boy's consent first, before dying for them? Would dying for them make the boy a martyr?

Later on, the 3 went to trial. What would you do as the jury/judge? Was the situation morally permissible? Does the degree of necessity exonerate the 3 sailors from guilt?

Additional Details: The 3 men each had a family and children. The cabin boy was an orphan. But does this change anything?

Perhaps the question is less that of philosophy, but more of moral values.
