Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Zrak says: Hi
Uadjet says: Hi!
Uadjet says: If there are no immediate questions, I'll give an update on what's the happening behind the scenes.
Gonger says: Please do so.
Uadjet says: As many of you have assuredly noticed, the Unreal version is now on 0.7.26b
Uadjet says: Talad did some terraforming since our last meeting. I think I mentioned the roads to and from Emerald Lake, but he's also linked up Homestead and fixed a large number of map glitches.
>Teleported Anysu Atani to Anysu's Small Table in instance 345
Anysu grins
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Anysu says: Thank you
Uadjet says: Just a repost...
Uadjet says: Talad did some terraforming since our last meeting. I think I mentioned the roads to and from Emerald Lake, but he's also linked up Homestead and fixed a large number of map glitches.
Uadjet says: Talad's also continued his work on random events, like random merchants.
Damola ponders "Anysu has her own small table here."
Uadjet says: He also spent a lot of time bugfixing - naturally - and has gone through the wishlist (feature requests) on flyspray to see which ones can be done.
Damola says: Yeah, Talad did a lot of bugfixing.
Uadjet says: Oh, and for those who saw the screenshot of the giant sphere on Discord, that was the marker used to show where Raurim was planned to be. It may move a bit, but there should be a village in that area. Right near the Observatory.
Uadjet says: He's also been looking into cinematic sequences, so the game might be getting a little more snazzy in the future. :)
Uadjet says: Let's see... The compass quest is coming along well. Haviland is the one working on that.
Uadjet says: I'm helping put it into the right format, which isn't too hard.
Uadjet says: The town of Delver is having NPCs added to it now.
Uadjet says: I've submitted a the NPCs I would add in the xml format that Talad can copy/paste in to load the NPCs.
Uadjet says: I'm not sure when they'll all be added, but they should be coming soon.
Uadjet says: I've also started writing some quests for them.
Uadjet says: So far I've got one quest each for the two Enki sisters that live there, and have been doing research into farming so that I can do one of the longer quests for the village. I'm also planning a quest to send players there, as it's not all that easy to find.
Damola says: cinematic sequences… how would that work exactly?
Gonger says: You see something at the end of character creation.
Damola says: hmm okay.
Uadjet says: Well, I think they're meant for times when you enter an area. Walk in, the cinematic plays, and then you're free to move. They might also be small things that appear in combat, like 'finishing moves'.
Damola says: nice work on quests and npcs you do
Uadjet says: I think more like Skyrim than Mortal Kombat.
Gonger says: Speaking of character creation - I did not see an option for Fast Character Creation?
Uadjet says: No, that's not in yet. I'll have to ask Talad about it. That and a way to spend leftover points at the end.
Gonger says: Good. It is quite possible that someone wants to try the game quickly, so a Fast Creation would be good.
Anysu nods at Gonger
Gonger says: I mentioned it before - what about a Guest character?
Gonger says: Who knows a bit of everything, but cannot leave a certain zone, for example?
Uadjet says: It should be pretty easy to come up with some templates. I can look at the ones in this version, actually. They're right there...
Uadjet says: I'm not sure I follow. Players creating guest characters?
Gonger says: No.
Gonger says: A pre-defined Guest character.
Gonger says: We had that in MUDs.
Gonger says: A character with limited abilities. Can do a bit of everything, but nothing too well (e.g. all skills at 10)
Gonger says: So it is possible to try everything with this character.
Gonger says: Guest will not be saved.
Gonger says: That's from the MUD lib :)
Jeranenie says: sounds like that could be covered a fast char template
Jeranenie says: ^by^
Uadjet says: Maybe.... A template would run out of points quickly trying to get a skill of 10 everywhere.
Gonger says: Oh, hiding in the alcove. I did not see you there.
Jeranenie says: there is no reason why a template could not set starting skill levels
Uadjet says: That is an interesting thought. The player could dabble a bit, just to see what can be done. A newbie area with crafting stations and some low-level critters to fight. Dummies too.
Gonger says: And with crafting stations.
Gonger says: But nothing can leave the are
Gonger says: area
Jeranenie says: and each char instance would be unique which is a requirement that you would have to fudge using a guest
Gonger says: Easy way to get an understanding of all the possibilities...
Zrak says: Hmm....with fair warning that this alt is only temporary?
Gonger says: Yes.
Gonger says: Of course.
Uadjet says: Basically a demo level.
Gonger says: An interactive demo.
Jeranenie says: more of a demo char ?
Zrak says: Love this idea, Gonger
Gonger says: You can play it, but not save it. But you know of hte possibilities.
Uadjet says: That's a good idea.
Uadjet says: It would be a project of significan size, but honestly the current tutorial area would make a good map for it.
Uadjet says: Okay, so my "To-Do" list just got a bit longer. :)
Uadjet says: No worries. It's good to have different things on the list. That way you can take a break from the task that's getting a bit tiring and still do somethign productive.
Gonger says: That's true.
Gonger says: As long as the list does not get overwhelmingly long.
Uadjet says: Any other thoughts or questions? Did I miss anything?
Uadjet says: Okay, so in the near future I'll be writing more quests for Delver and dabbling in the templates. Homestead also needs people in it, and Haviland has a couple proposed. I'm sure we can fill that out to a full village pretty quickly.
Damola says: Sounds like a lot of new stuff to explore.
Zrak says: It sure does
Jeranenie says: is there any plans for chars to have different attributes at creation ?
Uadjet says: Yeah, and we need to fill all of that space with... stuff. Ruins, remote towers, small villages of 2-4 families, etc. And monsters. Lots of monsters.
Uadjet says: Attribues are determined by species and the choices made. I think. Admittedly I tend to race through it. :)
Gonger says: Are new monsters planned?
Gonger says: Like, totally new creature types?
Uadjet says: New monsters require new models and animations, but there are some that can be added. Unreal has had some animal packs free over the years that we picked up, and even a monster pack or two. Admittedly a centaur is a centaur is a centaur, no matter what game it's in, so not all are approprate for PS>
Gonger says: Ah, that sounds interesting.
Uadjet says: Some are good, though. Like a giant lizard that Talad and Zwei worked on. It started as a dragon, but with the wings removed it becomes a good desert critter.
Uadjet says: There's also a boss critter animation that I like, but I'm having trouble getting other people interested. it's a giant gold worm that pops up out of the ground. It's good, and has some animations, but maybe not settings appropriate.
Uadjet says: Ah, found it. It's on sketchfab.com as gold sandworm.
Uadjet says: I thought Ojaveda could use something scary outside the walls. :)
Gonger says: Shai-Hulud?
Gonger says: The giant worms from Dune (novel, movie)
Uadjet says: I'm sure that's the inspiration for it.
Damola says: Thanks for all the updates.
Damola says: Time for me!
Uadjet says: Another thing that could be added relatively easily is a serpent of some sort.
Damola says: Not sure a worm would fit into the settings, yeah.
Damola says: A giant one at least.
Uadjet says: They tend not to be low poly, due to the curves, but we know serpents exist and finding ones already made and animated is easy.
Damola says: A serpent might be more fitting.
Uadjet says: But we've got a scorpion model that can be a windscorpion, for one thing.
Anysu says: scorpion would fit.
Uadjet says: There are praying mantis models too.
Uadjet says: Giant ones could be mounts. :)
Uadjet says: So could velnishi.
Uadjet says: But yes, we're at the end of the hour. Any last questions? Thoughts?
Zrak says: So many have devoted so much time to PS over the years. Thank you!
Anysu says: Velnishi mounts..be cool. More mount choices would be nice.
Uadjet nods. "The more mounts the better, and Talad liked the idea of Velnishi mounts."
Uadjet says: So, I think we can bring the meeting to a close! Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks! Have fun playing!
Anysu says: Thanks for update!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Zarre says: Hi Uadjet
Uadjet says: Hi!
Uadjet says: So, if there are no immediate questions I'll start with a quick update on what's going on behind the scenes.
Gonger says: Fine!
Uadjet says: Talad did a stream some of you may have caught that covered some of the artwork that was done for homeworld stories.
Uadjet says: New characters will be getting a brief bit of history of the world they came from, and Talad commissioned the 2D art pieces for them.
Uadjet says: He's a bit fussier than I am, I suppose, but I think they look great!
Gonger says: That was the work for an Ukranian artist?
Uadjet says: I'm not sure. That could be from an earlier commission.
Uadjet says: The Nolthrir one was my favorite. Very colourful.
Anysu says: Thank you
Anysu says: Great timing!!!
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet says: That's stream number 768, if you want to see the preview for the artwork.
Gonger says: Will we get to 1,000 before PSU opens?
Uadjet says: I was wondering that about 20 minutes ago myself. :)
Uadjet says: Oh, we did cover the mailing systemat the last meeting, for anyone who missed it. I know that's something a lot of people have wanted, so I'll mention it again.
Uadjet says: Talad has worked it out so that players can send each other letters, tria, and items. That works even if they're offline, and the sender can cancel that transaction if the receiver hasn't accepted the tranfer yet.
Uadjet says: He then went on to work on random events. These aren't just random critter attacks - we get those in Hydlaa already - but can include things like mini quests, or special merchants.
Gonger says: I am playing Advocatus Diaboli (in an OOC sense) - Will this not make it TOO easy to help others with quests, for example?
Uadjet says: Well, the more experienced/wealthy player can probably travel to the recipient as quickly as the package will arrive, as a delay is built in for sending items. I'm not sure if it's really that much of an advantage.
Gonger says: Ah, I see. I will push back my Advocatus Diaboli personality until we could really try and test the mail system.
Uadjet says: And I'm changing Amdeneir's barrister to a Diaboli now. You get the credit.
Gonger says: Hehehe ;)
Uadjet says: There are a number of streams on random events, but the part I find most interesting is that events can be set up so that they only happen if players with certain skill levels are present. Thanks can get really complex when you can write encounters that include the ability to brew potions or repair ancient armor.
Anysu says: Can you choose not to have random events?
Uadjet says: You can ignore them.
Uadjet says: This isn't like in a game I won't name, where ignoring a random event can harm you. These are (hopefully) fun extras, not botting checks.
Uadjet says: Although if an ulbernaut shows up in Hydlaa then ignoring it may not lead to great results.
Anysu says: *nods*
Uadjet says: I don't think 'monster attacks' are really the focus of these random encounters. Players can kill things all over the place, so having a trepor show up randomly isn't special.
Zarre says: Very true
Uadjet says: Now if it's a talking ulbernaut...
Uadjet says: Talad has also done a lot of work getting the help files into PSU.
Uadjet says: IIrc, the game will load the help xml files on loading, so they'll be easy to update and add to over time.
Uadjet says: The help section in Legacy is a pretty good example of what can be done, I think.
Uadjet says: It's got the mechanics covered - although likely outdated - and some explanations of game concepts that can't really be covered in a quick NPC dialogue.
Uadjet says: Honestly, I haven't opened the Help window in over a decade, I'm sure, so I'm having to refresh my memory a bit.
Uadjet says: I can say that there are commaneds listed in the "GM Commands" section that I have never seen before, so that needs updating.
Uadjet says: Talad then worked on animations for a bit. He worked on Idle animations, I think, but due to visiting family I missed those streams.
Anysu says: Hope family liked your meal.
Uadjet says: The tart was quite rich, but they did like it. They preferred the much simple gazelles' horns (almost pastries).
Anysu says: *nods*
Thosor says: hehe
Uadjet says: I did take it easy on the orangle blossom water.
Thosor says: with flower?
Gonger says: Sounds all yummy.
Uadjet says: if you're like me, when you get a new ingredient you immediately open it and take a big whiff.
Gonger says: Sharing RL stories, I am free to leave my appartment again. Others lock themselves out, I locked myself IN!
Uadjet says: Some ingredients are a bit too potent for that. Vanilla, for one. Orange blossom water and I think rose water are similar.
Thosor says: don't do it in chemistry class.
Uadjet says: It's like openign a bottle of perfume and sticking your nose in it.
Anysu smiles
Anysu says: Sorry for sending meet into off topic. Any other psu news?
Uadjet says: Let me check my list...
Gonger says: Nothing wrong with going a bit off-topic if it is fun. My facebook friends had a good laugh on me... ;-)
Uadjet says: Thank Yliakum for Notepad++. I just keep it open at all times with 8 or so documents open so I can jot things down.
Uadjet says: Okay, so at the moment Talad is streaming about the compendium. Specifically, the monster section.
Uadjet says: The ability to examine creatures is based on Empathy, so those with greater Empathy can examine more creatures. I'm guessing it's limited by creature complexity, and not just creature power.
Zarre says: Care to elplain, Gonger? :D
Uadjet says: Thosor?
Thosor says: There still is no auto chat scroll or tabs indicating change? such as no illuminated tabs to show an updated chat in group, main,
Uadjet says: Ah, I think he's referring to the 'key' incident.
Thosor says: Hard to play when another person is with you,
Thosor says: and can't chat while riding, don't know if this is in the flyspray.
Thosor says: And I hope Gonger didn't have a large dog wanting to go out.
Gonger says: Zarre, when unlocking my appartment door to leave, the key snapped and blocked the lock...
Uadjet says: Cant' chat while riding? Ah. That could be an issue.
Zarre says: Yikes! Poor you.
Gonger says: No, no large dog waiting...
Zarre says: haha.. ok.. lucky you!
Anysu says: Now what Gonger said, makes sense after hearing about key.
Gonger says: I now have a new and more modern lock with a stronger key... and I have facebook friends holding their stomachs.
Thosor shutters ,facebook
Zarre says: ^ ^
Uadjet says: I have very loudly declared that there is no reason for lockpicks in games to break, as they're not much thinner than the keys. Then Gonger goes and proves me wrong!
Zarre laugh
Gonger chuckles softly.
Anysu says: Can you buy lock picks in game?
Thosor says: A large boot
Uadjet says: Okay, I may have an idea about why you can't chat on a mount. The engine identifies the player/mount combination as being the mount with the player attached. That could prevent the game from displaying /say and other commands that have an origin point from working.
Thosor says: yes
Uadjet says: You can't but them in game now, but once there's a lockpicking minigame with a visible lock pick one might be added.
Thosor says: Have to dismount to talk while exploring,
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Gova says: Lockpicks? Hammer + Chisel is all you need.
Thosor says: So no way to tell what your friend is doing, when out of sight.
Uadjet says: Tells should still work, though I haven't tested it.
Uadjet says: Odd.
Thosor says: Will our lock skills we have now carry over?
Uadjet says: Mounts are buggy so I haven't really used them.
Uadjet says: All skills get copied over.
Uadjet says: As do items.
Uadjet says: Quest completion.
Thosor says: And the now tab lighting and auto scroll don't let you know anything else unless you keep selecting them.
Uadjet says: Factions (though they're changing, so some will have new names).
Thosor says: I haven't checked flyspray recently, but I think Damola did.
Gonger says: Lockpicks are more subtle than hammer + chisel. Sometimes you want to be silent.
Gova says: I'm a blacksmith. We like to get loud!
Thosor says: Use the open window nearby.
Gonger says: What about a thief, Gova? The do not.
Gonger says: *They
>Anysu Atani dropped an Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Anysu says: I have that covered in game now
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Uadjet says: There has also been talk about tribes, and how they're being set up. Groups of critters won't just wander, but do things like gather resources. The hostile ones could get more dangerous over time, unless players do something about it.
Thosor says: Isn't there a legacy quest about roof hopping and going through a window? was long ago.
Gova says: I don't want my stuff stolen, so the louder they are the better.
Zarre says: Yes there was, Thosor.
Gova says: @Thosor: There is. I love that bit.
Thosor quiets down, sorry.
Anysu says: Picks for locks.
Uadjet says: Ah, and the hand-held exterior window opener.
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Uadjet says: Talad was working on idle animations, so maybe he did a pick for noses. :D
Anysu says: Anyway, anything else Uadjet?
Uadjet says: I think that's it.
Anysu says: lol
Thosor says: where?
Anysu says: lock oicks in front of Uadjet
Anysu says: *Lockpicks*
Gonger says: Ah, very clever.
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Gonger says: You had them renamed.
Thosor says: oh, interesting
Anysu says: Yup thanks to the engraver
Gonger says: Great idea, Anysu.
Anysu says: Thanks. It makes opening locked chest fun with an rp element.
Uadjet says: I've covered everything I wanted to, and Anysu's lockpicks have become the center of attention, so I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for comine, and I'll see you at the next Q&A in three weeks!
Uadjet says: Oh, and there's a lockpicking animation somewhere. Zwei mentioned it.
Thosor says: guard 'nauts trained to hear lock picking?
Anysu grins
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Lucky Tools impishly.
Anysu says: Thank you, Uadjet for update
Thosor says: ok, i'll catch up on flyspray
Zarre says: Thanks, Uadjet
>Anysu Atani picked up an Anysu's Lucky Tools
>Thosor Riereri grabs hold of Anysu's Small Table and begins to dance.
Anysu says: Maybe I'll see if I have any treasure chest stored. Liked to go pick some lock now,
Anysu says: lol
Thosor says: heehee
>Gova Liernan salutes Anysu's Small Table with respect.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
>Thosor Riereri looks at Uadjet and panics..!
>Anysu Atani waves at Anysu's Small Table
Anysu laughs
Anysu says: Okay bye!
>Thosor Riereri waves at Anysu Atani
>Anysu Atani waves at Small Table

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
>Migg Ellorean salutes Uadjet with respect.
Migg says: :D
Anysu says: Thanks Uadjet
Uadjet says: I set the duration on that to 30 seconds, so probably a bit long....
Anysu says: Was funny.
Uadjet says: Gonger?
Gonger says: Greetings. Any ideas when Talad plans for Unreal version to go live? Methinks he should simply fix himself a date, otherwise he will keep adding this, and that, and then a further idea pops into his mind...
Lytoza smiles, "Well it is his game, isn't it?"
Uadjet says: I don't have a specific date. He says the Unreal version is mostly working as it should, and as you mentioned it's the extra stuff and changes that are yet to be completed.
Uadjet says: He might want to get the faction rework finished first, before players start doing quests in PSU.
Gonger says: I may be wrong, but at least some people seem to become quite unpatient by now.
Gonger says: Ok, I guess it is "Wait and See", then...
Lytoza says: ...soon(tm)
Migg says: I would like to see a control scheme more resembling the one here, before the move, but I don't know if that's possible, or if others agree
Migg says: I find it is harder to control my character in PSU, but that may just be muscle memory, or plain ignorance of the controls
Migg says: I mostly miss the ability to stop a run with a W :)
Uadjet says: It does take some adjusting.
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. Maybe that could be added.
Migg says: hmm, wonder when I picked these up...
Uadjet says: Okay, so I'll give you an update on what's been going on behind the scenes for the last few weeks.
Uadjet says: Version 0.7.21 of PSU is now out! It requires a fresh install, not an update from the launcher.
Uadjet says: Summarizing from the release notes, it has fixed swimming, the waypoint updates, the compass (which works!), new landscaping, and tons of fixes.
Uadjet says: But most of Talad's work in the last few weeks has been on getting a mail system up and working that players can use ingame.
Gonger says: Compass and mail system were very high on the wishlists, methinks.
Migg says: no more guildhouse mailboxes!
Damola says: A mail system? Interesting.
Damola says: How does it work?
Anysu says: If noone has houses how get mail?
Migg says: Loxi would be out of a job if she were still around
Damola says: Could be a task for the storage guys? Or we have post office people in each village.
Uadjet says: The last dozen streams cover it fairly well, bu tit allows players to send each other messages even if the recipient is offline. It also allows the sending of items.
Migg says: Oh, a parcel delivery system too!
Anysu says: And I sure not giving account info to get items,
Migg says: are they delivered by groffel?
Migg says: shouldd be in-game mail Anysu
Uadjet says: You go through an NPC. For items, it's like a trade menu in that you move items into the mail window.
Uadjet says: You do have to pay to send items.
Uadjet says: And there is a delivery time. You can pay extra to get items sent faster.
Migg says: Are there stamps?
Uadjet says: No stamps, to my knowledge. :)
Migg says: pity, we won't be getting any stamp collectors in PS
Anysu says: But if not online, are items held. How can be sure noone else gets you items or mail?
Uadjet says: They can't intercept things.
Uadjet says: Items are placed into an 'in transit" category, until the person they are sent to picks them up.
Migg says: And how is the recipient notified?
Uadjet says: They'll stay that way until the right person gets them, though the sender can cancel the transaction before it's completed.
Anysu says: How can you verify when picked up the one picking up is right person?
Damola says: Really nice!
Migg says: should be like your bank Anysu
Damola says: Sounds like the mail system needs extra NPC or existing NPC to take over that task.
Damola says: But I like it that way. So it requires some player interaction.
Uadjet says: Yes, you check wtih the appropriate NPC and they'll only give you items/mail sent to you.
Damola says: And is not just automatic.
Migg says: I'd expect everyone offering storage would also offer mail, like they offer banking?
Damola says: Unless you bribe them!
Damola chuckles "Hahaha"
Uadjet says: In the vids Talad is using Krestal, but a postmaster would be a useful NPC to have.
Damola says: Ah the Pterosaur handlers could also be a good option.
Damola says: Or really new NPCs
Damola ponders of ways to intercept mail for GMs
Uadjet says: I don't know if it would be storage NPCs. I've added a mail NPC (courier) to Amdeneir. Well, two. I'm guessing only one will be approved.
Damola grins
Migg says: Ah, so Harnquist will not delivering any mail with black fingerprints on the envelope
Uadjet says: I wouldn't think so.
Anysu ponders ways mail could be misused.
Damola says: Two in competition would be funny, at first at least. Then you never know who has your mail and probably need to check both. But would become boring after time, so yeah, one per city makes more sense
Uadjet says: Well, I was thinking a long distance courier, and a younger NPC that delivered local messages.
Migg says: or a mail delivery service, and a separate parcel delivery?
Migg says: like mail and courier
Damola says: I see, Uadjet.
Damola says: As for switch to PSUnreal, Thosor and I encountered a bug that the chat does not automatically scroll in PSUnreal if you send a message and its already at the bottom.
Uadjet says: That's possible, though with all the work Talad's already done I don't think I want to try and make it more complicated for him. :)
Damola says: I think that is one thing that should be fixed before release, dunno whether someone already reported it though, I did not yet.
Damola says: I'd say start out simple first… adjustments to the mail system can still be made.
Uadjet says: Well, the mail is mostly finished. The chat scrolling is an issue, though.
Uadjet says: That chat window really does need to be running smoothly, or we'll have tons of problems. I'll poke around in PSU with the chat box and see what needs fixing.
Uadjet says: I think we've been spoiled by the chat window here in Legacy. It really is quite versatile.
Migg says: it is also picky in where you need to click to be able to move the chat window
Migg says: idk if that has been fixed though
Damola says: Yeah, legacy PS has its issues, but the chat window generally works quite well.
Uadjet says: I was having trouble with that, but only with new characters that had just gone through the Dryken Plane. This happens with older characters as well?
Migg says: moving the window? it happens to Migg
Migg says: iirc
Uadjet says: I'll check that as well. Maybe I just got used to the correct plag to use to drag and forgot how finicky it is. :)
Migg says: you need to drag the label
Damola says: moving windows in PSUnreal in general is a bit finicky.
Migg says: another thing is icon scaling, lowering the resolution makes the interface smaller
Damola says: I often missed the right place to grab for move.
Migg says: I like how you can scale the toolbar here, and how everything can be displayed inn one row
Damola says: Yeah, I dislike the recent switch to three separate toolbars in PSUnreal.
Damola says: My screen is wide enough to handle the complete toolbar and I would like an option to turn that split off again. I bet I will report an enhancement request regarding this.
Migg says: could be selectable, like you can have disserent toolbar arrangements here
Migg says: *different
Uadjet says: I know what you mean. The icons are pretty small, but I think talad's trying to keep them off the top center of the screen so target into can be there.
Uadjet says: Maybe it could be displayed as three rows?
Damola says: I had no issue with it being in one row. But I bet different people may like different layouts.
Migg says: like the shortcut bar here?
Migg says: I would love having it scalable
Migg says: like it is here
Damola says: That would be nice.
Migg says: then you can chose how big the icons will be, and if you could chose a layout too that would be awesome
Anysu says: I like to be able to hide tool bar as option.
Migg says: I'd rather have one row
Uadjet says: I don't think making it scalable is too hard, so it's possible.
Migg says: yes, you can hide it here and just have the orb
Damola says: For example with a wide screen even a vertical layout could make sense, so you can stuff it at one side of the scren
Migg says: rater fond of my current layout. I don't think theming would be high on the priority list, but could be a way out of such issues
Lytoza says: Would be ideal for players who need larger icons / fonts in order to play PS.
Uadjet says: Being able to hide it would be nice. I think making it possible to do custom arrangements would take a lot of work, but a little more flexibility should be doable.
Uadjet says: When I looked into scalable windows I think the contents were scaled as well, but I'll have to check.
Migg says: offering a few selectable options would be nice, like a tree-row layout, a one-row layout and and a simplified layout with a subset of the icoons
Damola says: Yeah, I'd start out with a few options, but with a complete arrangeability of everything
Migg says: and making it scalable and collapsible / hideable would fill all my requirements :D
Anysu nods at Migg
Uadjet says: I'll pass that along. Okay, good meeting!
Anysu grins "Actually not having voice not text.. be rather nice...
Damola says: Okay, thank you.
Damola says: Good meeting.
Anysu says: Having voice not text
Anysu facepaws
Uadjet says: We're past the hour now, and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, so I think we'll bring things to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all at the next meeting in two weeks!
Migg says: just one last question please. The DarkStars competition caused some interesst among old players but hasn't been updated in a while. Any news?

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: So, it's a small meeting today... and Gonger just announced it on Discord for me. Maybe that will bring in a person or two.
Uadjet says: But I'll start out giving you an update on what's been going on behind the scenes.
>Anysu Atani listens intently to Uadjet.
Uadjet says: Last meeting I told you that Talad had been working on Way Points, which are what NPCs use to find their way around instead of running directly towards their target and getting stuck on buildings or landscape.
Uadjet says: To Talad's great relief, he's got the Waypoints done - at least for now - so NPCs should be able to get around more smoothly.
Gonger says: Great!
Uadjet says: There are still a few places where NPCs can get in a pileup. I think they're colliding with each other, and then stopping their movement. But that can be fixed.
Uadjet says: Talad then starting working on infravision and nightvision, so those should be available in PSU in the next update.
Uadjet says: He then moved on to swimming, and now that's mostly working. Before you couldn't go up and down because we just don't have movement keys assigned to that type of movement, but he's got that running fairly well. He also smoothed out the stream in Delver so that the bed isn't so jagged.
Uadjet says: Oh, and he also went around and fixed some of the odd landscaping. No pits from which we cannot escape.
Uadjet says: Well, from which you cannot escape.
Uadjet flies away.
Uadjet says: And he was working on... not lighting in general, but the day/night cycle and how well lit things are at various times.
Uadjet says: I know Tua is working on the faction system, which is quite a bit deeper and more detailed than the system here in Legacy.
Uadjet says: I spent the last week working on populating Amdeneir, and currently have more-than-will-ever-be-approved NPCs for the city and the surrounding area.
Uadjet says: It's mostly just name/role/species/gender/ stuff for now, but I've got quite a few notes for quests as well. I'm anticipating having to defend the existence of each NPC before it's added to the game - and that's a good idea - which is helping me define them as characters, not just 'person standing over there".
Uadjet says: Not every NPC can go in. Some would be inside the University, and there currently is no 'inside the university', so they can be put into storage for later.
Uadjet says: I do intend to fiercely defend some NPCs, though. I love the idea of a limner (illustrator/illuminator for books)
Gonger says: The stored NPCs... :)
Uadjet says: We'll make up a little dollhouse for them. It'll be nice.
Uadjet says: But one of two NPCs could be outside the University, but having 11 staff plus students would be a bit much.
Uadjet says: And I think I'll be able to add more NPCs total if I delay some. :D
Uadjet says: Delver is much the same, just on a smaller scale. It's more families, whereas Amdeneir is a mix of family groups and individuals with no relatives that players can interact with.
Uadjet says: Amdeneir is much more diverse. I'm trying to add at least 5 or 6 or each race.
Gonger says: We should - again! - encore players to create NPCs. Maybe put an example in the forums to show how much or how little effort one NPC is.
Gonger says: *encourage (encore would be French for "again" in this context)
Uadjet says: I can do that. It's not too hard, really. Nobody has started populating Homestead, to my knowledge.
Uadjet says: 'Encore' could also mean within the core, if one is being somewhat silly with the language. Bring players into the core?
Uadjet says: But Homestead is a place that Talad does want populated. I'll get some screenshots of the place and the surroundings.
Gonger says: I think in French they don't say core, rather coeur (oe ligature which I cannot type here), or noyau (the Académie Française keeps fighting a lost fight to use French terminology instead of English)
Gonger says: French people can be funny with their language...
Uadjet says: And yet thoroughly humorless about it.
Uadjet says: But they gave the world the croquembouche, so I won't tease them too much about it. :)
Uadjet says: So that's what has been going on behind the scenes. Any questions? Thoughts?
Gonger says: Croquembouche? Never heard that one.
Gonger says: Ah, it's some food
Uadjet says: I may have mutilated the spelling, but it's a tower of cream pulls and caramel, decorated with chopped nuts
Uadjet says: It's very decadent.
Gonger says: No, it's quite correct, either croquembouche, or croque-en-bouche (the latter making more sense, bouche meaning mouth)
Uadjet says: Talad did say he wants to focus for now on things that would be fun for players. Any suggestions?
Gonger says: A gaming house? A sports center? A bro... no, not that...
Uadjet says: Now you made me want to play Arcanum again. Someone mentioned it a week or two ago, and now it keeps popping into my head.
Gonger says: Arcanum?
Uadjet says: But a gaming house would be fun, and KNM had one outside Gug. Hmm.
Gonger says: I think we bored the others to sleep with our talk on French words...
Anysu says: Finding hidden spots, that are not in a dungeon but a city.
Uadjet says: It's an older game. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.
Anysu says: Or even hidden in wilds.
Uadjet says: Inside Oja may be better. I do love the warrens where KNM used to be.
Uadjet says: And for sports... Old maps do show a Pterosaur Arena. Hmm.
Uadjet says: But we're now past the house, and I need to run out and get sour cream and dill for the Ukranian Borscht I made. So have fun playing, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Anysu says: Hidden spots could be like geocaching. Players find them and take items and leave an item.
Gonger says: I had some vague ideas about an American Football version for teams with 3 or 4 players... but I have other projects in PS context with priority.
Anysu says: Repeating the hidden thing since noone caught it first time wrote it?
Uadjet says: The geocaching sounds fun, but also like a player-run thing. But hidden spots and secrets are always fun.
Anysu says: Yes just hidden spots be cool
Gonger says: We still need books that can be fixed to a spot, but still be written in.
Uadjet says: I think that's a large part of what Talad worked on with regard to spontaneous NPC mini-events. Like a bard showing up in a tavern, or a rogue stealing from a merchant and then running off.
Anysu says: and fun and nice if they aren't just in dungeons
Uadjet says: Oh, Talad did find an addon for unreal that is good for drawing and painting.
Anysu says: nice
Uadjet says: So if you have ideas for little random events or hidden spots, let us know!
Anysu says: okay
Anysu says: Given Anysu backround maybe a random circus pops up with things to see.
Gonger says: Circus? Could be fun
Uadjet says: A random circus? Maybe a performer or two. A travelling troupe would be a blast, but a lot of work.
Anysu says: Yup
Anysu says: Just need a performer or two. But be alot for an npc to do probably.
Uadjet says: It would be nice if our existing performers actually did perform.
Anysu says: That to.
Anysu says: But we ar over time. Meeting over?
Uadjet says: Well, I think we'll bring the meeting to a close. If you like circus performers, there are free animations that work with unreal at mixamo.com. There could be some there that are useful for a circus.
Anysu says: Cool
Gonger says: Thank you for the updates.
Anysu says: Thank you Uadjet
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Gonger says: Good night
Uadjet says: See you all at the next meeting in two weeks!

>Haviland Tenouri winks at Gonger Xaraha playfully.
Damola says: its quite easy to find once you find that there is another way to Ojaveda that leads directly to Raurim
Haviland says: ah, raurim is the vilage near oja?
Damola says: However at least in 0.7.19 it was not fully connected to the other path way and the gate at the end of the way to Oja was still closed.
Damola says: No, its quite a distance. Uadjet gave another tip to reach it:
Damola says: Just go river near gobble village past gobble village and find it free flow.
Haviland says: yeah, that's the same
Haviland says: there's a shortcut from oja to the village
>Haviland Tenouri listens intently to Uadjet.
Damola says: I found the path way to between Oja and Raurim by going from Raurim. I found Raurim through Uadjet's river approach.
Uadjet says: So, as you likely know, PSU 0.7.20 has been released!
Damola says: And its frigging awesome.
>Haviland Tenouri nods at Damola Etedi.
Uadjet says: It is!
Damola says: Looking forward to PSUnreal event next week before regular event.
Damola says: ^ Reminder for Uadjet to advertise about it. :)
Migg says: Oh, a PSU event!
Migg says: Hope I'm not lost by then :D
Haviland says: it's on the calendar
Migg says: PSU is huge!
Uadjet says: A lot of work has gone into the latest release, so I hope you all like it.
>Thosor Riereri tries to cover a yawn from Gonger Xaraha.
Migg loooks at his hand
Uadjet says: Talad's done a lot of terraforming, and the trees around Gug in particular are quite nice. That's just my opinion, of course, but I spent some time watching them swap in the breeze in the last few days.
Migg says: thought I'd lost it
Damola says: Not completely positive about it, but might be that Damola sitting on mount in wrong direction bug is solved with 0.7.20. But as it does not happen all the time can't say for sure yet.
Damola says: Yeah trees changed. More regional now.
Damola says: And a lot more variety.
Migg says: There was a hole in the walls of the Winch area
Migg says: you could passs under them
Damola grins "Everyone has a staff, so now Damola has, too."
Migg says: idk if that is among the fixes
Uadjet says: A new section of Oja is now open for people to explore.
Haviland says: at least I've found fewer holes in the ground compared to legacy :p
Damola says: Yeah, posted a few teaser screenshots at the forum.
Damola looks worriedly to Haviland "Will there be no inofficial places anymore?"
Uadjet says: And as previously mentioned by you lot, the Dermorian town of Raurim has appeared on the Irifon River.
Damola then grins "I bet there will still be some. Devs can't find everything."
Haviland says: I just found one in amdeneir today. Looking at this big city from beneath is impressive
Uadjet says: I was just in Amdeneir today, and there are still places where the map needs a bit of touching up.
Damola says: Yeah, Amdenair changed and improved the most of all the cities, I'd say. But Oja is impressive as well.
Uadjet says: There is now a compass available for players.
Uadjet says: Once you have it, you hold it in your hand to use it.
Haviland says: yay, the compass is great
Damola says: Sometimes it would be lovely to report a bug with position and viewing angle directly from within PSUnreal. Might be an interesting feature once PSUnreal is live. Ideally with a way to preview the text and edit the text being sent.
Migg cheerss for the compass
Uadjet says: Getting location is easy enough with /pos, but viewing angle is trickier.
Damola says: Yeah, I bought some compasses. However not sure how to use it yet. Need to learn about the direction and see whether there is a map somewhere.
Damola says: Yeah, found that /pos works in PSUnreal meanwhile.
Migg says: so this begs the question, where does the compass point at?
Damola says: It for sure has interesting symbols on it. Now the usual North, South, West, East kind of thing.
Uadjet says: The compass points "North", so we do have one.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Damola says: Yeah, but the symbols are different.
Uadjet says: Unless I missed something, if you're in Hydlaa it'll point in the direction of BD.
>Anysu Atani grins at Uadjet impishly.
Anysu says: Thanks
Damola says: I expect some lore to go with it.
Damola says: As far as releasenotes go there will be a quest to obtain it.
Haviland says: talad mentioned there will be a quest to get the compass
Uadjet says: Yes, but for now you can buy it in Oja.
Damola says: Yeah, right now you can just buy it from Toda.
Damola says: (But as I expect database will be synced one last time before the final switch to PS, I expect all bought compasses to be lost again, so one still needs to do the quest to obtain it)
Damola says: *PSUnreal that is.
Migg says: aren't they synced every new downloadable release?
Uadjet says: Yes. The things your characters do in PSU now arent' kept long term. Each new release the database is copied over and any changes in PSU are overwritten.
Damola says: Not sure, Migg. But seems like it. I see that position of char gets resetted every now and then.
Damola says: Ah, Uadjet clarified.
Migg says: Teaches people material possessions are temporal
Haviland says: buy some torches before you explore PSU :-)
Migg says: ah, to feed your pets?
Damola says: Yeah, I am not yet quite happy with the rendering of Magic Light. It does not light very much, is my impression.
Uadjet says: Oh, and there are new pet abilities in the pet window, though I don't think they're working yet. They'll give you an idea of what's to come, though.
Migg says: It was among the things changed
Migg says: magic light
Uadjet says: The torch certainly illuminates a lot.
Haviland says: at least torches make sense now
Migg says: idk, would this staff illuminate like a torch?
Anysu says: Never used torches in Legacy here
Haviland says: I wish it does
Migg says: or is the staff effects not ported yet?
Uadjet says: I don't know, actually. I don't think the visual effects of the staves are working in PSU. They weren't the last time I checked.
Damola says: Yeah, Migg, but still not lighting enough IMHO. Will try torch.
Uadjet says: Talad's also done some work on music, so don't think that's been forgotten!
Uadjet says: Oh, I'm referring to music that players can play.
Damola says: Situation in PSUnreal with database copy on each release gives your char freedom to do all kind of crazy stuff without having to face long term consequences :). However I decided that Damola remembers what she experiences during GM events in PSUnreal.
Uadjet says: Not the background music.
Migg says: Yay!
Damola says: Otherwise I would need to remember where each event has been.
Uadjet says: I couldn't remember that, and I ran them!
Damola says: It is amazing Uadjet, that you so far did not mix different story lines in events by accident!
Damola says: Any other news regarding PSUnreal?
Uadjet says: Let's see... Foliage redone, map fixes, Raurim, new Dsar in Oja, the compass, bugfixing...
Damola says: Its a lot already.
Uadjet says: I think I mentioned all of that. Or someone else did so. :)
Damola says: Anything new since 0.7.20?
Damola says: Otherwise any Q?
Uadjet says: Right now I'm working on populating the town of Delving (farming town) and the new sections of Amdeneir.
Uadjet says: I'm doing it by family units before I start placing NPCs, so not every NPC needs their own home and and can mark off houses as being owned by NPCs right away.
Uadjet says: Question, Damola?
Damola says: Tried swimming there again. Works nicely enough, but do not know how to actually stay above water. Seems Damola prefers to dive.
Damola nods
Damola says: About compass, are there any plans for a kind of mapping feature? I think it would be good to link it to some map drawing skill and quest chain.
Uadjet says: Ah, swimming is still being worked on. It's better, but up and down movement is still in need of improvement.
Damola says: And you'd need to equip compass, ink and paper in order to draw map.
Uadjet says: I don't know about that. How much detail would the map have?
Damola finds that is is areally easily to get lost in PSUnreal
Damola says: The landscape is vast!
Uadjet says: It's possible to make a basic map of the game world including basic things like bodies of water, cities, and roads. Stalagmites and mountains too, I think. That could be used as the result of the mapping feating. I don't know how hard it would be to make, though.
Damola says: Probably not too much, but would be nice if char could draw in cities and such… or char could buy map of an area and together with compass and skill will get a marking on where they are.
Damola says: Well, can certainly be done after final switch to PSUnreal. But I think would be nice to have. Not as automatic as in other games, but embedded in lore and player has to do something for it.
Damola says: Anyone found themselves running around aimlessly in PSUnreal to find something? I certainly did.
Haviland says: yeah, there are many roads leading to nowhere. Stilll some work to do.
Haviland says: But with a compass you can at least run in the right direction
Haviland says: finding amdeneir by foot is an adventure
Haviland says: with beautiful sights, though
Haviland says: and a ballon hanging in the sky ;)
Damola says: Yeah, I often enough followed roads that suddenly disappeared.
Uadjet says: I know what you mean. I left Hydlaa to go to Amdeneir and found myself at the Irifon River. By Raurim. I was off by 90 degrees adn didn't notice.
Damola says: Ah, yeah, I found that baloon as well.
Damola says: Well there is certainly a job opportunity for a travel guide. Especially for new players we hopefully get once we are playing on PSUnreal.
Migg says: time to resurrect the traveler's guuild?
Haviland says: I definitly need a tour guide for PSU :-)
Damola says: Auto rotate bug once again.
Damola does not like to be married to marble bench.
Uadjet says: I think road signs marking the paths to major locations (cities, towns, forts, etc) are likely the easiest solution.
Damola likes it up here.
Uadjet says: Any other questions?
Damola says: Not bad!
Damola grins
Uadjet says: If not, I think I'll bring the meeting to a close early so that I can attend to some RL stuff.
Damola says: No Q left for me.
Haviland says: thank you for reporting
Haviland says: good night everyone
Uadjet says: In that case, we'll bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks. And don't forget the Unreal event next week, two hours earlier than the standard event time!
Thosor says: see you later there
Damola says: See you!
Damola says: Good night everyone!
Migg says: See you and thanks for thhe updates!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: If there are no immediate questions, I'll start with what's going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Since the new release of 7.19, Talad's mainly been doing bugfixing.
Damola says: Cool, that is also really important.
Holesod says: yeah
Uadjet says: He's getting a lot done, including fixing the collision errors that were preventing entry into the Laanx Dungeon, fixes for mounts, fixed special attacks, etc.
Migg says: I filed some bugs as petitions in PSU
Uadjet says: Ah, okay. I'll take a look at those.
Uadjet says: I did a little running around in PSU, and I can confirm that Raurim - the Dermorian tree village - Is in. It's not done, but it'll give you a taste of what's to come.
Holesod says: oooh that sounds fascinating
Migg says: PSU is huge, it is not easy to find all the places
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Migg Ellorean.
Migg says: I guess a compass would come in handy
Holesod says: yeah I like that idea
Uadjet says: For Raurim, it's on the Irifon River. From Hydlaa, just to to the river and turn left.
Migg says: Near the gobble village?
Uadjet says: Well past that.
Migg says: you did an event there :D
Uadjet says: I teleported to Jashoky and ran through the sky to get there, and it took a while.
Uadjet says: Yup!
Uadjet says: Treehouses are always fun!
Migg says: yes!
Holesod says: was somewhat reminded about the Channelwood age from Myst when I heard tree village
Uadjet says: Currently, it's one huge tree and surrounding buildings on the ground, but that could change.
Holesod says: that makes sense
Holesod says: so almost like a sacred tree?
Holesod says: or a monument?
Uadjet says: I don't know about sacred, but there are houses built in the branches.
Holesod says: oooh I see
Uadjet says: I didn't count how many, but there are a few huts up there.
Damola says: Cool, got to visit it.
Holesod says: indeed
Uadjet says: I haven't started making NPC's for it yet as I don't know how big it'll eventually be, but I'm thinking Dermorian, with some Klyros (they'd like treehouses), Nolthri (it's a river junction), and misc. others.
Migg says: I would say Stonehammers wouldn't like the heights, and would be prohibited from digging up the roots, but a few could still be smiths and such
Holesod says: heh I was thinking the same thing Migg
Uadjet says: There's going to be a Stonehammer town down the river from there.
Holesod says: safely on the ground I assume
Damola says: Maybe even into some rocks.
Holesod says: like a rock hovel?
Gonger says: Moria-like?
Uadjet says: Right by the edge, actually. If you're familiar with the area, the Irifon splits into to just a short distance before it goes over the edge. The resulting island has a ground level section, and a tall flat-topped hill. That is (I think) where Nauvhim is going.
Damola says: Well at least one Stonehammer city in lore is built quite deeply into a mountain, isn't it?
Gonger says: Oh, Tuathanach is online.
Uadjet says: Delving is underground, except for the surface village which is mainly there for farming and interacting with the other races.
Uadjet says: Redstone is in the Stone Labyrinths...
Damola says: Yeah, I thought about Delving.
Uadjet says: And the Pillars of Felim is build into the outer wall of the second level . I think.
Damola says: Haha, I give my laptop. Running PSUnreal concurrently. :)
Uadjet says: I'm not sure that's where the Pillars of Felim are. Maybe I just built that image in my own mind. :)
Uadjet says: Oh! I found it! "The Stonebreaker clan settled on the second level and began carving a city into the wall. The city was called Pillars of Felim. Felim in their language means Joy."
Uadjet says: And from the sounds of things in the Dev channel, Tua is doing fixes right now so may be coming in and out. :)
Migg wonders how Uadjet manages to fit all the books of Yliakum in his pockets
Damola says: Uadjet has fit quite some lore into his mind.
Uadjet says: I did run a search through the game's books, but the info was actually on the main page for the Stonehammer race on Planeshift.it. Who'd think to look there? ;)
Uadjet says: But as mentioned, work is underway with adding NPC's to the new areas. There's someone else working on Delver with me (don't know their in-game name), and they're quite good. Really imaginative. I'm also re-rewriting the lockpicking quests, now that I've found more tutorials on lockpicking. I want to incorporate that info into the quest.
Uadjet says: And yes, I'm sure I'm now on a law enforcement watchlist due to search for lockpicking info.
Holesod says: uh oh
Migg says: hehe was this SF small story that talked about a future where customs entered your name and saw what search results Google would suggest for you
Gonger says: We will send you books and music to prison. And food.
Uadjet says: I even searched for different types of lockpicks. I'm not sure if the FBI would take "I only wanted the images" as an excuse.
Holesod says: hmm
Holesod says: why not look up hairpins?
Migg says: medieval locks should have been a lot easier to pick
Uadjet says: I was also looking up picks for warded locks, which are easier to pick.
Holesod says: ahh ok
Damola looks concerned and looks to Gonger "Shall be be concerned about the safety of our GM?"
Damola chuckles
Uadjet says: Pin & Tumbler locks are what the world has now. They're more advanced, but they've been around in some form for thousands of years.
Holesod looks at Damola, "I concur"
Uadjet says: Ancient Egypy had them, though in simpler form.
Uadjet says: And we do have clever Lemurs and Stonehammers running around.
Uadjet says: I mean... The Winch.
Uadjet says: If they can build that...
Holesod says: hmm
Holesod says: any of them with good hearing? I think that might be something to consider too as part of an inate ability
Damola says: Well from what I read recently, I concur that it is not completely certain on how advanced past civilizations on this Earth have been. Some might have been quite a bit more advanced than we think.
Holesod says: hearing and dexterity I think...
Migg says: I thought they would generally build mechanisms bigger, hadn't actually researched things
Migg says: Good thing is I am only looking for locks :D
Uadjet says: So those two quests are being redone. I'm going to return to work on the 3D lock model after. With luck, I'll be able to turn that into a minigame for lockpicking. I'll probably need help though, given that the first step for me will be Googling "How to create minigames in Unreal"
Migg says: Speaking of minigames, is the minigame in the tavern in Oja going to be ported?
Uadjet says: Yup.
Uadjet says: I'll have to check to see if it's working yet, but I don't think it is.
Holesod says: seems like I will have to take a look at that tavern again Migg haha
Holesod says: never noticed it before
Migg says: you need two to play that one
Holesod says: ohh
Holesod says: wait yes I have played it before
Holesod says: at the tables right?
Migg says: yes
Uadjet says: So, any questions?
Damola says: There could be a day in PSUnreal again, I run around in circles in that darkness there
Damola says: No Q
Holesod says: everything seemed straightforward to me
Uadjet says: Okay. In that case we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Gonger says: Not in Three weeks only?
Uadjet says: Three weeks.
Uadjet says: You're correct.
Gonger says: Great minds think alike.
Uadjet says: I was just checking that. :)
Damola says: Okay… thanks for meeting and update!
Migg says: Thank you for the updates and everything!
Migg says: Good night!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Damola says: No Q from my side.
Gonger says: Any idea when PSU will go live?
Gonger says: Ok, wrong question. Everybody is petrified! :)
Uadjet says: No clue, but we're due another PSU release soon.
Damola says: Haha, the magic question.
Uadjet says: Nah, just kra.
Damola says: But yeah, that would be the next Q, when 0.7.19... but you said already, soon.
Holesod says: on the subject of PSU, is there a plan to allow us to use controls like what we have in legavy?
Holesod says: legacy*
Uadjet says: What type of controls?
Holesod says: like movement
Uadjet says: Ah, not to my knowledge.
Holesod says: instead of having to use the mouse to see where I am going
Uadjet says: The Advanced Locomotion System has movement wrapped up in everything else, so I don't know how hard it will be to change.
Holesod says: ahh ok
Uadjet says: Okay, I'll give you a little recap of what's been going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Talad has been doing a lot of the technical stuff, like working on lighting.
Uadjet says: The lighting in PSU is a bit... basic at the moment, and he's been updating it all.
Uadjet says: That includes lighting in caves as well as exterior lighting.
Uadjet says: The game will look much better once it's lit properly.
Uadjet says: And I nearly described that difference as being 'like night and day".
Rykia says: ^^
Holesod laughs
Uadjet says: I almost described the technical stuff as not being especially 'flashy' too. I start talking about lighting and the bad puns start pouring out.
Rykia says: Keep'em coming
Uadjet says: Talad has also looked into the various mechanisms that players can use to move objects in game. Like the secret passages in certain locations, or the rocks in the lava cave.
[Channel] [1: gossip] Migg: Hello!
Uadjet says: I went through and got coordinates for the teleporting onces a while back and found a secret entrance I didn't even know about, despite well over a decade of playing the game, so it was quite illuminating.
[Channel] [1: gossip] Rykia: Hello!
>Teleported Migg Ellorean to meetingore in instance 345
[Channel] [1: gossip] Uadjet: I assumed...
[Channel] [1: gossip] Migg: You assumed well!
[Channel] [1: gossip] Migg: thank you!
Migg says: this staff is big :D
Uadjet says: On top of doing lighting and mechaisms, Talad also went in and fixed the flicking textures in Amdeneir.
Damola raises an eyebrow "You found a secret entrance you did not know about? Might be something to look out for" she grins
>Anysu just joined PlaneShift
Uadjet says: It was mostly on rooftops, that I noticed, but it's a case where there are multiple faces in the same location. The engine tries to render them all, leading to them flickering back and forth.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet says: Oh, I found multiple that I didn't know about. Some were just nonfunctional or in places nobody could go.
Migg says: there are stil places where the architecture doesn't properly meet the scenery
Uadjet says: But yes, there's one secret entrance - a tunnel, really - that was surprising to me. And functional.
Migg says: don't know if that's what you mean
Uadjet says: Talad didn't finish up with Amdeneir, and I know Tua is workign on Amdeneir as well.
Uadjet says: But this is... It's called z-fighting, I guess. Hold on...
>You spawned Ojaveda Bluedust Carpet to your inventory.
>You spawned Ojaveda Green Carpet to your inventory.
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Green Carpet.
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Brown Carpet.
>Uadjet picked up an Ojaveda Brown Carpet
>Uadjet picked up an Ojaveda Green Carpet
>Thosor Riereri looks at Anysu's Small Table and panics..!
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Green Carpet.
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Bluedust Carpet.
Migg says: nope
Uadjet says: Well, the carpets aren't flickering, but if you move around you can see that which one is on top changes.
>You spawned 2 Marble Benches to your inventory.
>Uadjet dropped a Marble Bench.
>Uadjet dropped a Marble Bench.
Holesod says: I saw when I changed camera angles
Holesod says: there was a dark spot on the center when I changed camera angles
Uadjet says: Ah, the benches show it better.
Holesod says: then it disappeared
Thosor says: i get spots
Uadjet says: The game can't decide which is on top, so it tries to show both.
Migg says: at the proper camera position the benches flicker
Uadjet says: In Amdeneir's case, it's often where faces got duplicated somehow, so Talad can just delete them. In other cases he just adds a little more geometry so that the top and bottom faces aren't overlapping.
Holesod says: ahh yes
Holesod says: I see that too
Holesod says: thickness and gravity?
Thosor says: carpets switch
Uadjet says: But there are a number of places in Amdeneir where the ground has gaps, or an incorrect texture is applied. That's what they're doing.
Holesod says: is that like how sometimes I can fall when leaving east hydlaa here?
Holesod says: or is it a different issue with the ground in PSU
Uadjet says: In PSU you can actually see holes in the ground.
Uadjet says: I think the one by the tavern was fixed.
Holesod says: oh ok
Uadjet says: You could actually down into the hold underneath Amdeneir.
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Rykia Mewmeat.
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Uadjet.
Damola says: You can have that flickering even with the regular benches here. For example the one Damola is sitting on
Uadjet says: It's a nice place, actually.
Uadjet says: Roomy, high ceiling. Trees.
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. Where the benches overlap at the ends.
Uadjet says: In Legacy we fix that by sliding one item down just a few millimeters. That was the game knows which face is on top and the flickering vanishes.
Uadjet says: But in Amdeneir it's different parts of the same items, so that isn't as easy. Talad's been deleting extra faces and moving bits around so that the flickering stops. And they look nicer too. In some cases there were double-sides faces, like a sheet of paper with textures on both sides. Saves rendering resources, but looks wrong. Roofs are not infinitely thin. Talad's been making those more reasonable.
Holesod says: that makes sense
Uadjet says: And with the fixed lighting Amdeneir won't have a washed out look to it, so it should be amazing. :)
Uadjet says: Let's see... I think I told you about the shrines last meeting, right?
Gonger says: Yes.
Holesod says: I remember some discussion on them
Uadjet says: Good. There's been more progress on them, and if you're in the supporters tab of teh discord channel you'll see a preview of the Laanx Shrine.
Uadjet says: It looks amazing!
Thosor says: looks like a dead spider hehe
Migg says: are the shrines in the known temples?
Uadjet says: No, they were made to be added to different locations. Places without a full temple.
Uadjet says: But honestly, the Laanx one is cool enough it could be added to the Temple.
Uadjet says: So, other than that I've been working on writing quests for the new areas. Mostly just determining who the new NPCs are and what quests they'll have, but on at least some I've got the steps mapped out. I just need to edit one of them down, as I got a bit carried away.
Uadjet says: When you start approaching the 100 step limit for a quest, you know it's time to dial it back a bit.
Holesod says: yeah 100 steps might seem a bit excessive
Anysu nods
Uadjet says: I'll probably make it a series of smaller quests. Simpler that way.
Holesod says: that sounds reasonable
Holesod says: completion of some to unlock others?
Uadjet says: I'm still trying to figure out the Advanced Locomotion system well enough to fit flying and gliding in.
Uadjet nods to Holesod. "Precisely."
Uadjet says: I can do flying, gliding, and slow falls easily enough in normal Unreal, but I may have to ask Talad to complete that little project. I can't even find the blueprints I need to edit in ALS!
Uadjet says: Let's see... I think that's all for the updates. Oh! I'm almost done with the lockpicking quest rewrites. I just need to work on the loot tables.
Uadjet says: Okay, that's all I've got for updates. Any questions?
Rykia says: None from this one.
Damola says: A lot of nice work. I wasn't aware of a 100 step limit for quests, but I bet that's pretty reasonable :)
Anysu says: *cheers for lockpicking*
Migg says: any new artist NPCs?
Holesod says: Yeah a lot of work. It's impressive
Uadjet says: A while back Zwei mentioned lockpicking animations. I'm sure those are around somewhere...
Uadjet says: Artist NPCs? I've got some planned for Amdeneir and Oja. Still need quests for them.
Migg says: If they are bard NPCs specializing in some musical instrument, I may have some ideas
Uadjet says: I'm told Settings won't add new NPCs that don't have a purpose, as far as players are concerned. So goods to sell, involvement in a quest, etc. They can't just exist because their profession existed in medieval times.
Uadjet says: There goes one of the medical NPCs I was going to propose. ;)
Migg says: I would assume every town had at least one bard, or someone to carry on oral tradition in song form
Holesod says: what about ones that talk when a player passes by?
Migg says: towns ought to have poets, composers and playwrights as well
Migg says: at least big towns
Anysu says: One that talks as walk by like a town cryer
Uadjet says: NPCs that greet passing players should be rare, or they'll get annoying.
Uadjet says: A town crier could be interesting, though...
Holesod says: oh yeah they would
>Holesod Sacerey nods.
Anysu nods at Holesod
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Uadjet says: It would be fun to have one that can tell you about updates to an area from an IC point of view.
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Migg says: peddlers would cry out their wares to passers by
Holesod says: oh yes
Holesod says: wait a minute...
Gova says: I just want the ability to cast sound deprivation on the two in Amdeneir's Theatre.
>Thosor Riereri nods at Gova Liernan.
Rykia says: Could easily overhear NPC's talking to one another about newsworthy topics too
Migg says: hehe well it would have been interesting if their repertoir was more varied
Holesod says: peddlers crying out there wares would get annoying
Migg says: but realistic still
Holesod says: oh yes
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. I wonder how that could be scripted... If it was a single line, that would be easy. But conversation is trickier.
Rykia says: ...and helpful to new arrivals to PS
Holesod says: hmm can one-on-one conversations exist without quests?
Migg says: just have lines be dependent on time of day
Uadjet says: What, you're tired of Kaiman yelling about his fat sacks?
Holesod says: haha
Holesod looks around, "which fat sacks is he talking about?"
Uadjet says: Toda does as well, as I recall. Maybe more.
Uadjet says: Maybe just a limiter, so they don't shout more often than once every x minutes.
Holesod says: that would be reasonable
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Holesod says: generally I only notice Toda doing it when I am in her shop
Uadjet says: It could have a very short range.
Holesod says: yeah
Holesod says: but that might be another thing
Holesod says: do they shout all the time or only when their shops are open?
Uadjet says: Just checked, and I had no town crier on my list, so that's one more NPC to add to the cities. :)
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Uadjet says: I'll probably have that one be a younger NPC, with a scale of .9 or .85.
Uadjet says: Like the pickpockets. :D
Anysu says: Pickpoket npcs!
Uadjet says: Well, cities do need a criminal element.
Holesod says: I'd imagine they would be in a more secluded area of a city
Anysu says: Aye
Uadjet says: I'm trying to place new quests in the new areas.
Holesod says: at least one where people aren't bound to hear their conversations
Holesod says: or see what might be shady
Anysu says: Is it pickpocket quest npc?
Uadjet says: The two quests to start lockpicking both start in exisitng areas because they follow naturally from two of the existing quests, but I'll have the player go to a new area and a new NPC as part of the quest, to get them moving around a bit.
Holesod says: those involved in the criminal element wouldn't want to get caught by the guards
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Anysu says: Such quests could give not only skill bu faction points with criminal faction.
Uadjet says: Truly secret areas would require map alterations, but a thief guildhall might be appropriate.
Holesod says: oh yeah that would work
Holesod says: a thief guildhall
Holesod says: but perhaps some might be between buildings if space is allowed
Anysu says: Thief guild would make sense
Uadjet says: There was a conversation about that in the devs channel that I'll have to find, but rogues in Amdeneir won't be this...
>Overriding race for Uadjet to rogue
Uadjet says: They'll look like everyone else. :D
>Resetting race for Uadjet
>Anysu Atani grins at Uadjet impishly.
Uadjet says: That was good. Any more questions/ideas?
Migg says: to that end, rogue potion should also obscure identity
Holesod says: hmm or some kind of thief clothing that hides identity
Holesod says: maybe both
Anysu nods at Migg
Anysu says: Be handy if disguised as thief player coul have name obscured via a potion.
Uadjet says: Hiding identity sounds interesting, but I worry about it being abused.
Anysu says: Aye
Anysu says: That makes lots of sense.
Holesod says: would probably need mechanics to mitigate the abuse
Uadjet says: Maybe the label could change to make it clear the person is disguised, but still leave the name visible in case of misconduct.
Rykia says: Or something simple like a ring that could be used for both things as a quest reward from the Thieves Guild
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Uadjet.
Migg says: I thought one would become rogue #3245 and that would be in a database to say that rogue is really Migg Ellorean
Migg says: but players would not know
Anysu nods at Rykia
Rykia says: Like that idea, Migg.
Migg says: they can still report abuse and GMss would know who it is, rogue could be like another character creatred by the player
Uadjet says: The database knows players by PlayerID.
Uadjet says: If I look at old events, for example, it will list all of the events I've run under the current name of that character, not the name it was at the time.
Uadjet says: Well, that's in the data too, but I digress.
Holesod says: the rogue number would need to be unique to the player in order to mitigate confusion
Anysu says: If one was in a thief guild, then as in ps maybe that guild name is hidden
Uadjet says: So the game would know who it was, but I worry players might not know that and feel like they have no recourse if an anonymous person was harassing them.
Holesod says: yeah that's a good point
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Holesod says: I haven't come across them here, but I have come across them in non-rp RPGs
Migg says: if I am always the same rogue then that will help
Migg says: could also be a randomly generated name instead
Migg says: like every time you drink that potion you are slinky underdog
Damola says: See you.
Holesod says: it sounds interesting Migg, but I think Uadjet made a good point about how someone could misuse it to harass players
Rykia says: Bye
Migg says: and that name is fixed but also unique to you
Uadjet says: Could be. We're well past the hour, though, so I think we'll have to call it a day.
Anysu nods at Holesod
Migg says: Yes, it's late for me as well
Migg says: So see you all!
Rykia says: Farewell everyone
Migg says: Thanks for the updates Uadjet!
>Thosor Riereri bows to Rykia Mewmeat.
Holesod says: yes thanks for the updates Uadjet
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
>Holesod Sacerey cheers happily at Uadjet!
Anysu says: Thank you for update
>Thosor Riereri salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Holesod Sacerey salutes Uadjet with respect.
Holesod says: ohh
Holesod says: I see the flickering here too
Holesod says: now I know what you meant
>Thosor Riereri bows to Anysu Atani.
Anysu says: The stage of table flicker
Holesod says: I saw it with the benches here when I stood up just now
Anysu says: *stage*
Anysu says: yup benches as wel
Holesod says: oh yeah I see it with the stage now
Holesod says: it flickers and then stabilizes
Anysu says: really bad flicker here on table stage
Uadjet says: Yeah, things have to be set up just right or the edges overlap.
Holesod says: hmm
Uadjet says: One set of numbers I'll never forget is that carpets are 1.5m wide and 2.5m long. Makes it much easier to lay them out and prevent overlap. :)
Anysu says: Hmmm, yup. Bye!
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
Uadjet says: Just set them all down using '/drop inplace' and then slide them in those increments. Perfect.
>Thosor Riereri bows to Anysu's Small Table.
Anysu chuckles
Holesod says: aha I see
Holesod says: hmm
Holesod says: made me think like how in some things there is a "snap to grid"
Uadjet says: Yeah, that would be nice.
Uadjet says: But for many items I can drop two in one place and slide one slowly to figure out the measurements.

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: If you have a question, step up to the lecterns. If not, I'll start with an update.
Uadjet says: Okay, so the last two weeks have mostly been about Dsar Sarraghi.
Uadjet says: That's a section of Ojaveda that doesn't exist in Legacy, though for reference you would get there from the city entrance by going left into the newer section of the city and following that road all the way through the currently closed city gate.
Uadjet says: Talad has spent weeks on it, and that section is pretty well complete.
Damola says: Wow, nice. I probably won't look too much of it up in the life stream, as it would be kind of spoiler to the real experience in PSUnreal.
Uadjet nods. "Very fair. Seeing it 'live' is probably the best introduction."
Uadjet says: Now I have to fill it full of Enki's!
Damola looks forward to solve this plague crap for real in a epic event series.
Gonger says: Hehehe
Uadjet says: Wait, there's no sarraghi trait. Ack!
Holesod says: hmmm
Uadjet says: Well, that's a complication.
Uadjet says: Well, that'll be fun.
Damola says: Sarraghi trait?
Uadjet says: Traits are the cosmetic things like hair style and color. For enkis the traits determine which clan markings you have.
Damola says: Ah, yeah.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily at Uadjet!
Uadjet says: I see rabani, blikau, clamod, kore, and akkaio. No Sarraghi.
Anysu says: Really Sarraghi not on wiki?
Uadjet says: I'll run around the dev channel in a panic about it and maybe it exists somewhere.
Anysu says: Yup not on wiki. Never realized that.
Holesod says: though isn't that pack the most susceptible to the plague?
Uadjet says: But back to the city itself, there is some really nice variation on style. It all fits together so that you know the same culture made them, but things don't all look the same.
Anysu says: Maybe a tortishell fur pattern or calico?
Uadjet says: That Dsar is the most affected by teh plague, I think.
Holesod says: ahh ok
Uadjet says: Yeah, it isn't in the character creator either. We'll need an artist for that. :)
Uadjet says: Oh! Before I change topic there are banners available now, and there's one for each clan of Enkis.
Uadjet says: The banners provide some much needed color variation to Oja, what with it all being made of sandstone.
Uadjet says: I'm sure carpets can be added as well.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Uadjet says: Now, as for the thing that I thought of when I said "artist needed", there is an arist working on Shrines for the different deities.
Uadjet says: I think these will be mainly in towns, or locations wtihout a full temple. Could be in the wilderness too.
Uadjet says: The Laanx one is looking pretty nice. :)
Holesod says: I imagine a Xiosia one would be in the wilderness
Uadjet says: Yes, but I think towns might have them too. Farming towns, for example. They'd likely want to keep Xiosia happy.
Holesod says: oh yes for sure
Anysu says: Small versions so a family could have one on thier farms as like a tribute to pray at?
Uadjet says: They might be a big big and complex for that, though they could be adapted I suppose.
Anysu says: *nods*
Holesod says: I'd imagine a garden about the size of the one here in Hydlaa
Uadjet says: Not finding much on Sarraghi via Google, though there is someone on facebook named Sarra Ghi.
Uadjet says: So both the banners and the shrines were paid for out of the grant that Epic gave to PS.
Anysu says: I did a DM on discord with Sacho and he said he thought there were npc Sarraghi?
Anysu says: *shrug*
Uadjet says: It could say they're Sarraghi in the description, but that doesn't mean they have the sarraghi coloring. I'll take alook in Oja once we're done, but it's possible all NPC Sarraghi just use another clan's coloring in a this-will-do-for-now sort of way.
Uadjet says: As for me, I'm attempting to figure out the locomotion system PSU uses. It's far more complex than the base Unreal system, so the learning curve seems a bit steep.
Damola says: Any idea when next version will come? Already last dev q&a I think it was about how much updates it contains.
Uadjet says: I'll figure it out though.
Uadjet says: Oh, yes. Talad is approaching a new release. It's not quite ready yet, though I think he's like 99% of the way there.
Uadjet says: I'm currently splitting my time between stumbling through that, generating lists of NPCs to populate the new areas, and making small things in Blender.
Damola says: Cool, looking forward to it.
Uadjet says: I don't know if it'll be approved, but I was just working on arangma silk lanterns lit by fireflies that you can see moving around inside.
Zarre says: Love this idea!
Uadjet says: It seems like a good Dermorian lantern to me.
Damola ponders "That could be animal abuse."
Uadjet says: I"ve also got a couple new anvils. One should be familiar to anyone who has seen the Blender Guru tutorials on Youtube, and the other is based on a German anvil with an upsetting block and smoother lines.
Uadjet says: Oh, the bottom of the lantern is open.
Uadjet says: They're lured in by food and maybe pheromones, but not trapped in there.
Damola nods approvingly.
Gonger says: Pheromones are also animal abuse. All men are victims...
Damola says: Heh.
Holesod says: well Gonger....
>Thosor Riereri coughs at Zarre.
Uadjet says: Oh, and I may need to make some Dermorian housing on the ground, because I love the idea of sod roofs with living grass and the best way to get something in game is to make it.
Uadjet says: It's related to the 'better to ask forgiveness than permission" rule.
Holesod says: oh yeah that sounds like a wonderful idea
Uadjet says: I keep picturning Kormi on the roofs.
Thosor says: Just reach through for fresh milk.
Anysu says: I know a resturant that has a grass roof and goats munch on grass ontop of roof.
Zarre smiles briefly at she nods in Thosor's direction
Uadjet says: That seems like it might startle the kormi...
Damola says: Nice.
Uadjet says: So that's what has been going on. Any questions?
Damola says: No question from my side. And going bed soon.
Uadjet says: Okay, then I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Damola says: I call it a a day.
Damola says: Thank you for updating us for the progress being made!
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all at the next meeting in two weeks!
Uadjet says: And Oja seriously looks great.
Zarre says: Thank you too!
Uadjet says: Felt I needed to say that again.
>Holesod Sacerey claps for Uadjet.
Anysu says: Thanks for update, Udjet.
>Thosor Riereri salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Zarre bows to Uadjet.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
>Lurielle Volanxis salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Thosor Riereri falls asleep beside Lurielle Volanxis.

Damola says: No dev here since quite a while… but I bet they are busy developing as usual.
Uadjet says: Talad sure is.
Damola says: Yeah.
Uadjet says: I know a few others are still hard at work too. Eonwind and Zunna.
Damola says: I wonder the total time he did on live streams. I would not be surprised in case it would be 500 hours or more.
Damola says: And then all the work he does when not on livestream.
Kifunstus says: 650 streams averaged at 4 hours or so a stream
Damola says: Oh, then make that 2000-3000 hours.
Relef says: talad has always worked hard on the game, im just hoping he doesnt burn himself out
Kifunstus says: thats only what he has streamed
Anysu says: May there be no server crashes for Dev met today.
Uadjet says: And ther are prospects working on art as well, though as that's not been posted in #general I can't say much other than that it exists.
Gonger says: Some streams were close to 10 hours even.
Kifunstus says: Talad collabourates with us on stream
Kifunstus says: and if your around while hes working on your bug listings, he works with you
Relef says: to be honest i dont know much about the state of everything right now since i just came back to the game
Uadjet nods. "He's good at that. Dives right in and fixes bugs and actually listens when you tell him something isn't working right."
Kifunstus says: Talad is still constructing the Full Dome, and working on UI friendliness before public release
Kifunstus says: the Dome is soo big
Uadjet says: Not that I'm trashing other games where Devs don't listen to and interact with players. No, not at all.
Relef says: hmm ok, how long is the estimate till the beta release? or is it the beta release now, if so how long till the actual
Gonger says: What do you mean? There are other games???
Gonger looks confused.
Relef says: you know
Relef says: chess
Relef says: tic tac toe, other games
Damola chuckles
Kifunstus says: I would describe the unreal enginge at alpa 2.5 , close to 3, after bug tested 3, i would assume beta equivalent
Anysu grins at Gonger
Relef says: cause i have to know when i can force my dad to come back to play planeshift
Kifunstus says: they been working hard on the Random Events Generator, that others can put together small random events to pop up around the world
Relef says: like building an actual bridge across bd instead of carpets?
Kifunstus says: that is player made bridge no ?
Relef says: ye stalfos made a carpet bridge
Uadjet says: Or is PSU it's version 0.7.17, I think.
Relef says: would be a nice event to make an actual bridge of it
Relef says: :)
Uadjet says: I don't have a timetable. PSU is ready when it's ready.
Migg says: 0.7.18
Kifunstus says: PSU 1.0 would be first release
Relef says: hmm alright
Kifunstus says: got your diet in check Korko ?
Korko says: Yup!
>Kifunstus Zyziferous smiles at Korko Piatronulet
Uadjet says: So, if there are no immediate questions I'll give a quick summary of what's been worked on in the last two weeks. If you do have a question, run up to the lecterns in front of the stage.
Korko says: I do slip up sometimes but I not as often
Damola says: Yeah, Uadjet, go ahead.
Damola says: Looking forward to a 0.7.19
Damola grins
Uadjet says: If you've been following the streams, you'll know that Ojaveda is expanding rather rapidly.
Damola says: Nice.
Uadjet says: Talad has been working on new buildings, so it's not going to be the same structures as the exisitng city copied over.
Korko says: ooh
Kifunstus says: the windmill's spin and the cloth sails wave
Uadjet says: I don't think he's posted the picture to #general, but I think he nailed the granaries. :)
Uadjet says: Each section is dominated by one tribe, so they're slightly different. Made of sandstone, of course, but they'll have different 'feels' about them.
Anysu says: Sound interesting.
Thosor says: furniture covered in rope and rugs to scratch on.
Kifunstus says: more civilized than that Thosor
Uadjet says: A bit, but at least some sections have hammocks.
Uadjet says: Talad has been working on banners as well. He had some in today's stream, as there will be different ones for each tribe of Enkidukai.
Anysu says: Nice!
>Migg Ellorean nods in agreement with Anysu Atani.
Uadjet says: That will add some extra decoration for the city walls, for one thing.
Uadjet says: Sandstone is nice, but the color gets a bit monotonous.
Kifunstus says: he needs more sandstone textures i guess
Uadjet says: The city walls have decorations on them already, so changing the texture isn't simple.
Damola says: They could be a bit more varied in color. Consider houses of different age. The effect of the crystal's light during the years. And of rain and so on.
Migg says: what? it rains in Oja?
Relef says: well sandstone walls are pretty monotonous, they usually just get interesting with gravings or banners irl to
Thosor says: Snowed on me there.
Kifunstus says: oja supplies much grains and rice
Uadjet says: Weather is currently random everywhere, but in PSU it will be possible to set weather to happen or not happen in some areas.
Uadjet nods to Relef. "We could find different sandstone textures to add some variety though. No reason it all needs to be the same color."
Damola says: Still even in Oja it rains at times. At least when Damola or that alchemist she worked with summons a rain there.
Damola grins
Relef says: ye the northside of sandstone walls is usually darker cause more shade so less dry
Relef says: is it still gonna be possible to get on top of all the walls?
Kifunstus says: there is a new mantle system for climbing in PSU
Anysu says: Ohhh yes like to climb the walls.
Korko says: It's gonna be back :0?
Uadjet says: Quite possibly. Talad did one cluster of houses built atop one another, and they get pretty close to the top of the walls.
Uadjet says: Might require a mount to make the jump.
Relef says: ok, fun parkours
Kifunstus says: currently in PSU mounts no longer jump further than you
Relef says: isnt that kinda weird
Damola says: eh.
Damola says: We need far jumping mounts.
Kifunstus says: well my drifter hovers , not bouncing
Damola says: For mischief of all kinds.
Kifunstus says: rivnek is in next update
Anysu nods at Damola
>Anysu Atani grins impishly.
Thosor says: my rivnek never worked, drifter does.
Relef says: i have a summon drifter that summons my rivnak
Relef says: xd
Relef says: gotta love shortcuts
Korko says: Is the team doing ok? I hope there isn't too much pressure with developing PSU
Kifunstus says: The team is understaffed with skilled people
Kifunstus says: but they seem to be doing ok , they also seem to push themselves a bit
Korko says: ouh
Uadjet says: And Talad is commissioning people to help with art.
Kifunstus says: Talad needs a good sound person
Gonger says: We had some discussions about advertising, because new players will also mean new developpers.
Korko says: like sound effect person?
Kifunstus says: yes sound effects person
Relef says: im horrible with textures and sound effects hmm
Gonger says: But right it is difficult - how to advertise PSU when people cannot try it?
Gonger says: *right now
Relef says: how is amdeneir in unreal?
Kifunstus says: there is a massive host of NPC's to fabricate for the new towns and the rest of Oja
Damola says: Relef, wonderful.
Uadjet says: Bigger, and better!
Damola says: It is much bigger. Has a complete new area.
Korko says: Maybe they could enjoy the current version and when they hear the migration to unreal they might give a hand. I doubt that the core rp-heavy mmo is going to change and I haven't heard of many so far.
Relef says: thats nice to hear, then the university might get more visitors
Damola says: And fish ponds. And… a special mine and and and
Relef says: nice
Korko says: but I hope you guys won't promise too much either
Kifunstus says: I suggested they hold off getting people in until the Dome is shaped. not fun for a new player to have the world your learning to navigate just change on you
Korko says: I've heard that it's a common mistake games fall into
Uadjet says: We currently have maybe 30% of Amdeneir. In PSU there's the lower section, containing the pterosaur towers, market, warehouses, and so forth, plus the nicer section with the university and vigesimi tower.
Uadjet says: Oh, and the elevated section, with the magic shop.
Relef says: nice nice
Relef says: did anything new release in this version since i went away?
Relef says: i think like 6months ago or 7
Kifunstus says: yes there was 1 release, i cannto remember what thou
Kifunstus says: the next release coming is big
Uadjet says: So I just checked megascans, and there are sandstone materials on there. Also found a few ways to make sandstone using procedural nodes in Blender. So that's easy to do.
Kifunstus says: the next update has UI updates, Bug fixes, character creation Fixes, Tree City , Oja Expansion, Irifon River and lots of landscaping, that I am aware of
Kifunstus says: the Dryken plane was released in the last update
Relef says: oh ye
Uadjet says: For new release notes, the News and Rules section of the forum has those.
Kifunstus says: a starting places for new characters arriving in Yliakum , but there was plenty of bugs that I think will be addressed in the update
Relef says: uadjet
Relef says: blackroot is still bugged, since his release xd
Relef says: i moved him again 2 days ago
Kifunstus says: did you post it on Flyspray ?
Relef says: i dont know flyspray
Kifunstus says: you can get there from planeshift.it
Relef says: hmm, once i wanna beat blackroot properly without bugging him out
Migg says: I never managed to create an account in flyspray
Kifunstus says: i had to make a second flyspry account, dunno what happened to my first, couldnt get email support
Uadjet says: auto-generated emails are an issue, that's true.
Uadjet says: I'll see what I can figure out with Blackroot.
Uadjet says: The only bug I see regarding it is about the player getting teleported to an invalid position.
Relef says: oh some spells still let him move (terror)
Relef says: and i dont know if its intentional but there is 0 way of getting away from him
Relef says: appart from ofcourse casting terror
Uadjet says: Hmm. I doubt it's meant to be inescapable.
Uadjet says: I'll test it out with a character that doesn't have 5k in each skill and see what I can find out. :)
Relef says: :)
Uadjet says: So, Talad also recreated a shrine, and he's working on placing those around the map.
Uadjet says: And he's also done more work on the random encounters.
Uadjet says: He did work on NPC bards most recently.
Uadjet says: So one of those might show up in a tavern while you're in there.
Damola says: And play a song?
Damola says: THat is nice.
Gonger says: Interesting.
Uadjet nods.
Uadjet says: Precisely!
Uadjet says: And you can interact with them.
Thosor says: a hat to throw tria in?
Damola says: And can you interact with the bard? Give a tip? Or something like that?
Gonger says: Can players submit songs to the bards' playlists?
Uadjet says: I didnt' see a hat, though it's a good idea.
Damola says: Ah, you wrote already.
Kifunstus says: the event generator is still in the construction phase, lots of tools to add for the creators of events to use yet
Uadjet says: Submitting songs would be nice, and I'm sure it's possible. I don't think you can give a bard a music score and have them play it, though.
Kifunstus says: the NPC bards get to cheat and use .wav files
Anysu says: Can one choose not to have random event happen to them?
Korko says: that would be so funny
Uadjet says: You don't have to interact with the randomly generated characters if you don't want to.
Uadjet says: Although a randomly generated maulberlord might have something to say about that.
Kifunstus says: random events includes a treasure chest and puzzles/monsters to fight to find it
Uadjet says: Hopefully those won't appear in taverns alongside the bards, though.
Kifunstus says: we already have vilenaughts in the tavern lol
Uadjet says: Yeah, Kifunstus has it right. It's a wide variety of things that can happen.
Damola says: As I played Morrowind with OpenMW I always liked it that the guards are actually doing something. When you did something that is not allowed there, they ran after you and put you in jail unless you were able to pay.
Relef says: vilenauts, bards, soon zac comes taking a drink
Kifunstus says: im sure Zak gets everything they need bought to their diamond sanctum
Relef says: in skyrim if you ran to fast against a chicken guards will attack you
Relef says: i think this game has few bugs compared to skyrim :P
Damola says: Random events are really a nice addition, of course it needs a balance.
Uadjet says: Here guards just yell at you if you have a weapon equipped. :)
Kifunstus says: there are tools for present skill totals, and individual skill totals, to balance what spawns where
Relef says: yes, we dont want an npc we need for a quest to be off 24/7 just cause he randomly got into random events for a week
Kifunstus says: ohh the random events create new NPC's for it
Uadjet says: Oh, these are new NPCs.
Uadjet says: What Kif said.
Relef says: the new npcs dont have quests?
Relef says: or are they temporary npcs
Kifunstus says: the new NPCs are new randomly generated event processes or mini quests
Uadjet says: Although if it got rid of the shouting ladies in Amdeneir's theatre I wouldn't mind. I get an earful every time I wander by.
Kifunstus says: and then they despawn
Damola says: Oh, so it is always a completely new bard?
Damola says: For example.
Relef says: do they despawn while you are doing the quest
Kifunstus says: When PSU gets published on Mega games, there is going to be a tremendous amount of population traffic
Relef says: or how does that happen
Kifunstus says: Relef, when it times out or complete
Relef says: okay
Relef says: are there a lot of new questlines with the new part of ojaveda?
Kifunstus says: its only city construction currently , many NPCs to create
Relef says: hmm okay
Uadjet says: I'm still working on adding NPCs to Amdeneir. I'll start with Ojaveda when I'm done with that. :)
Kifunstus says: one could say Talad is working on getting the backbone of PSU setup, so many creators and artists can then populate the formed Dome
Relef says: i know im asking a lot since you are only just working on city construction, but i would love more quests that explain more characteristics of races
Kifunstus says: You could add to Jayose's library
Relef says: like at the moment quests are mostly errands, but nothing that actually gives knowledge about some races behaviour
Kifunstus says: maybe the basic quests, the more advanced quests hint at characteristics and behaviours of groups
Relef says: i know what klyros do but i dont know anything of other races, even things that are probably considered basic knowledge
Kifunstus says: dwarves want beer in basic quests
Uadjet says: That's fair. I add things like that to events, but it's a bit harder to add it to quests. I'll try adding some quests that explore the lore more thoroughly if I can. Currently the Quests section of the new towns/cities is fairly vague.
Damola says: I am really looking forward to 0.7.19 or maybe it will be 0.8 considering all the changes you wrote about before.
Kifunstus says: 19 Damola
Korko says: things will be added when time comes
Kifunstus says: me and some freinds looking forward to testing some PVP and magics
Relef says: i actually love the planeshift lore, just asking cause i wanna get to know it more ingame :)
Relef says: well pvp is really unfair at the moment
Damola says: There is a point in what Relef says. I did not really learn much about Nolthrir for example during questing. That written, I did not yet complete all questions in PS CS.
Kifunstus says: the combat and casting system is different in PSU
Relef says: im talking about the spells, i know a spell that prevents people from casting spells
Damola says: Will be interesting to see how PSUnreal takes into account what questions you already did in PS CS. I bet there have been quite some changes and some quests or quest lines might have to be redone?
Relef says: and another one that prevents attacking
Damola says: *what quests I mean
Kifunstus says: Quests were changed since I played CS and returned a few months ago
Relef says: i know i still have almost all quests done that dont require more skills off me
Kifunstus says: stats unlock skills in PSU
Kifunstus says: combat is free form
Kifunstus says: powered spells are charged
Gova says: I'm stuck on 398 quests on the moment, so more would be nice!
Relef says: you know what i would also love as new content
Relef says: things like magic and music combined
Kifunstus says: you mean like blessed litany ? where you hear a chorus while the spell is cast
Uadjet says: In PSU it should be easier to give out books as rewards. There's a bug in Legacy that makes it... unwise, to give out auto-generated books. That's why I copy things into blank books before giving them out to players.
Relef says: that you need to hold a glyph in the other hand or something while playing certain songs to cast a stronger version of that spell
Kifunstus says: there is a mini game like a golf swing in other games to casts spells above 0 power
Kifunstus says: and you can over charge and fail cast
Thosor says: how do you play a lute with one hand?
Relef says: was just an example, theres other ways to include magic glyphs with music
Kifunstus says: there is an #ideas Channel on discord Relef
Kifunstus says: Uadjet is just here to let us know about current progress on PSU
Damola says: Any further Q or update? Otherwise… I'd likely call it a day.
Relef says: yes im just saying
Uadjet says: Yeah, adding that is beyond my skills. :)
Uadjet says: But as Damola said, we're past teh hour. Any more questions?
Kifunstus says: we understand the enthuziasm Relef :)
Damola concludes "Even GM has limited power."
Relef says: hmm
Kifunstus says: nice to see you all
Anysu nods at Kifunstus
Korko says: that sure was a meeting
Migg says: Thank you!
Damola says: Take care.
Migg says: Bye all!
Korko says: bye bye :-)
Uadjet says: Then we'll see you all again at the next meeting in two weeks!
Anysu Atani bows to Anysu's Small Table.
Anysu laughs
Anysu says: Bye

Tuathanach(Rules)
Zunna (Rules/Settings)
Mordaan (Settings)
Venalan (Settings Lead)
Uadjet(GM Lead)
Emaline (GM Team)
Zweitholou (Art)

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: If there are no immediate questions, I'll start with a recap of what's been going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Talad did continue work on factions, with Eonwind and Zunna helping as they've been working on factions for a while.
Uadjet says: It's pretty well finished, including the GUI for the factions window.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet says: The majority of his work over teh last few weeks has been on Ojaveda.
Uadjet says: I think he's taking a break from code, actually. :)
Uadjet says: But the unfinished parts of Ojaveda were filled with... not buildings, really. More... geometric shapes and random collision maps.
Uadjet says: He's currently going through and replacing those with actual buildings, so at least some of the closed-off areas should be available for exploration either in a future version of the unreal alpha or at release.
Thosor says: Like grey smooth buildings with stairs and furniture inside? Came across it on a trail. Can't enter it.
Uadjet says: I'm not sure what that would be. This is part of Ojaveda, so it won't be on a trail.
Uadjet says: In PSU the city walls are all complete, it's just that only some sections of the city had useful stuff in it.
Uadjet says: So that leaves me another city to try and fill with NPC's. :)
Uadjet says: If you want to get a look at what the new sections of Ojaveda looks like the streams are all available on youtube.
Uadjet says: At youtube.com/user/PlaneShiftOfficial/videos
Haviland says: that rings a bell. Talad asked me to maintain the list of open tasks
Haviland says: two points are to write new quests for delving and homestead
Haviland says: I know you are on it. Want any help?
Uadjet says: Yeah. A larger task is to write quests for the new sections of Amdeneir and Ojaveda.
Uadjet says: Those are going to take some time.
Haviland says: if so I'll write a remark for it
Uadjet says: If you have ideas for NPCs or quests you are absolutely welcome to help!
Haviland says: well I have to read up (a lot of) lore
Haviland says: but I have some ideas in my head
Haviland says: not about quests. but I thought it would be nice to have some npcs telling about the lore
Uadjet says: One of the Devs (Eonwind?) did mention that settings has a rule where every NPC added has to serve a narrative purpose.
Uadjet says: Knowledge areas are great!
Uadjet says: That's one of the things I need help on, no question.
Uadjet says: KA's (Knowledge Areas) are the things NPC's can say if you ask them the right question.
Haviland says: I thought of several npcs, historians, telling some stories
Uadjet says: Things that aren't a part of any quest, but still get a response.
Uadjet says: It's like how you can ask a trainer 'about you', or about something they train. Or about lore, like the way most of the Guards at the fortress will tell you about the Divisions of the Shadow and Sunshine Squadrons if you ask.
Uadjet says: Or how you can ask Jayose for ink and paper and then trade him 50 tria for it. Not part of a quest, but useful.
Uadjet says: So I can write KA's for questions that I might ask, but I don't know what other people might ask that the NPC should be able to talk about.
Uadjet says: It'll probably get easier to write those once the cities are filled out enough (with people and notable places) that topics can be predicted.
Uadjet says: Anyhoo, my list of Amdeneir NPCs is being filled out and edited down. It started as a list of medieval professions and then I build the NPC from that role out.
Uadjet says: I don't think any of the Devs have read what I've got so far, or they'd have brought up one of the professions I added to the list. LD
Uadjet says: I like adding little bits like that to see if they're paying attention. :D
Uadjet says: I'm sure they'll catch it eventually. ;)
Uadjet says: And I've continued work on GM flight as well as what I'm proposing as player gliding and safe fall effects. It's just something I'm proposing to the Devs, but I think it'll work.
Anysu cheers at flying
Uadjet says: Right now I'm trying to integrate those with the IK system in the Advanced Locomotion pack that PSU uses. I think I'll just have to turn that off, if I can, or your legs and feet will constantly be trying to find the ground while you're in the air.
Uadjet says: Let's see... I think I mentioned all of this before.
Uadjet says: But I've got two different safe fall animations, and a gliding animation ready to go.
Uadjet says: The spell ant weight mentions the caster/targer becoming as light as an ant and being able to fall from almost any height, so it would have a safe fall component. And Azure Way would have one, though I don't think any existing spells have that effect.
Uadjet says: I'm not sure if they're ready for gliding to be added, but as it's quite easy to set the rate at which you fall in Unreal it should be possible to keep players from gliding out of the playable area pretty easily. Nobody could glide from the Eagle's Head to Hydlaa.
Haviland says: ant weight actually increases strength, currently
Uadjet says: But in the description that's a "also". The majority of the text is about the safe fall effect. It's supposed to base damage reduction based on spell power, it seems.
Uadjet says: I'm not sure how to code that, though.
Haviland says: spell power of x percent reduces damage by x percent?
Uadjet says: Last night I think I figured out how to convert falling speed into gliding speed, so players using a gliding spell - or Klyros - could dive a bit to pick up velocity.
Uadjet says: My s/o was far less impressed by that revelation than I was.
Uadjet says: But I still have to figure out how to make that change more gradual.
Soociki says: Why not divide the fall speed so you take 10% of it and apply to glide? Would that work?
Uadjet says: 10% might be a little lower than i was thinking. But yeah, it comes down to getting speed and then applying that to the forward velocity.
Uadjet says: But I've been yammering for... 55 minutes now. Any questions on any of that?
Soociki says: I actually had a different one related to PSU, I was wondering how moving/rotating furniture and items would work.
Soociki says: If there's time to answer it
Uadjet says: Ah, there's a widget for that.
Soociki fist pumps
Soociki says: yeeeeeeessssss
Uadjet says: It's much like you'd see in Blender or Unreal. Moving an item is three arrows and you can select one or two and move the item along those axis.
Uadjet says: Rotating is the three arcs, and works the same way.
Soociki says: That's going to make things sooo much easier.
Uadjet says: It will. I've used in in PSU and it's a lot easier.
Soociki says: Any word on how book and note writing will work in PSU? Sorry, I know I'm cramming in two questions in one here. I just really like the book system.
Uadjet says: Books should work just as they do here. Music and drawings will take more work, but I think books are already working.
Uadjet says: Ahh, stream 169 to 171 covers books.
Soociki prays for an easier way to preview books before saving changes.
Soociki says: I always get the paragraphs getting cut off between pages
Uadjet says: You can add extra lines to push paragraphs to the next page. I think you need to add a non-displayed character to every other line to make it work, though.
Uadjet says: Any other questions?
Soociki says: Any notable differences in the quest system between PS classic and PSU? That's the last question I have.
Uadjet says: It's pretty well the same, bother for players and behind the scenes. Even writing quests looks to be the same as in Legacy, which is nice as I don't have to learn another set of arbitrary syntax rules. :D
Soociki says: damn...
Haviland says: talad said the quests are ported 1:1
Uadjet says: I remember one of the Devs saying something like: "The ideal is to have players log out of Legacy one day and into PSU the next and have it be a completely seamless change."
Soociki says: If I pop in any my bracers aren't between my feet, I'll be disappointed. :)
Soociki says: and*
Uadjet says: Now, that's not entirely possible, but most of the way the game feels should be the same. Just more of everything.
Uadjet says: Ha! That one... Wait, is that fixed? I genuinely don't recall.
Soociki says: I didn't bring mine with me, but I've still seen it happen, yesterday even.
Soociki says: Don't know if it happens in PSU however
Soociki says: Haven't found my way through to the storage yet due to the crazy weather effects
Soociki says: haha
Uadjet says: So, if those are all the questions I think we can bring this meeting to a close.
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and we'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Soociki says: Thanks Uadjet!
Anysu says: Thank you for the updates Uadjet
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Thosor says: thanks
Anysu says: Bye!
Haviland says: thank you for the update

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: So, if there are no immediate questions, I'll give a bit of an update on what's been going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Migg?
Migg says: Not really questions
Migg says: the forum had an issue with its credentials but it was still accessible through HTTPS
Migg says: Now it seems some assets will not load when you use https
Migg says: it will load correctly if you use http though
Migg says: that was the first
Migg says: the second is that, since I have no access to flyspray, I have reported some bugs as petitions in PSU
Migg says: idk if someone sees them,, does the petition system work?
Migg says: so this is a question :D
Uadjet says: Ah, I'll check those next time I'm logged in.
Migg says: OK, so yes :D
Uadjet says: I think petitions work, but I haven't been checking them. I have /managepetitions in my autoexec, so I'm not used to opening that manually.
Uadjet says: Okay, so last we chatted Talad was working on Raurim, correct?
Uadjet says: The Dermorian village.
Migg says: with the treehouses!
Uadjet says: That's the one.
Uadjet says: Talad did a lot of work on what I previously called the Wonky Tree, and it's looking much better. Far more tree-like, if you will.
Damola says: So the Dermorians can hope for a stable village that does not break down under their feet?
Uadjet says: A beta version of the village may be ready for the next release.
Damola says: Nice!
Migg says: cool!
Uadjet says: See, this is what Talad does when he needs a break from coding and bugfixing: He builds us a new village!
Damola says: I have been toying around with swimming in lake in Delver (or was it Delving). It basically works, but needs some refinements.
Damola says: :)
Uadjet says: The town is Delver. The Stonehammer city is Delving. And yes, it's unnecessarily confusing.
Hulla says: but good for the map seller
Damola says: Quite confusing the names. Delver and Delving. I do my best to tell them apart.
Migg says: Remember that the stonehammers keep delving deeper and deeper
Damola says: :)
Uadjet says: So Talad working on the tree itself, and the landscape around the tree.
Damola says: I love to explore in PSUnreal. Nature just looks so much more beautiful than in PS CS.
Uadjet says: I prefer the name Araloth kel'Maren, but maybe that's a bit long for casual use.
Uadjet says: So, once Talad was done with that (and some bugfixing) he switched to working on hair.
Uadjet says: Not in real life.
Uadjet says: He's not taken up hairstyling.
Uadjet says: In game.
Uadjet says: This game.
Uadjet says: He's also not trying to convince Minsc to grow his hair out and try a nice bouffant.
Uadjet says: The Ylian female model now has more than once hair option, with multiple colours.
Uadjet says: Now that he's done that, it'll be easier to add other hair styles to the other races.
Uadjet says: Some are badly in need of update.
Hulla says: can the player change their hair in game in the futur ?
Uadjet says: You can now, and I assume that will continue to be true.
Uadjet says: Just visit the hairstylist and you can choose a new cut and colour.
Hulla says: and chating ?
Hulla says: nice
Uadjet says: Talad moved on from that to work on character creation for a bit, and then on to Factions.
Uadjet says: Factions will be different in PSU. Some will just be the current factions with new names, but some will be new.
Uadjet says: Some old ones will be retired too, because they don't make sense. Like Ulbernaut faction.
Anysu says: or rat faction
Uadjet says: Talad also worked on treasure chests, and made a script that will make it much easier to add random chest contents in the future.
Damola demands Pterosaur faction.
Gova says: I'm -40 rat and proud of it!
Haviland says: I don't think that ulbernaut faction is a bad idea
Migg says: I don't mind rat faction, they hate me anyway
Haviland says: or rat faction
Hulla says: and high level faction can give some reward to players
Gova says: But ulbernauts attack everything, so everyone is at -100 faction with them.
Haviland says: if faction is high they should attack more aggressiv (from a greater distance and more often)
Migg says: I am 20 with Ulbernauts
Migg says: but then that's probably bbecause of Ulbie
Uadjet says: Oh, yes. There will be rewards for having high faction. It sounds complex to me, but there are ranks and titles for organizations, which don't necessarily match up to a skill. So the cooking faction might love you even if your skill is only 17, if you do enough nice stuff for them.
Migg says: Why would rats be able to remember you?
Uadjet says: Precisely, Migg. The creature factions have been defunct for some time now, as no quests give them. Those only appear on older characters.
Uadjet says: And after Talad did all of that, he moved on to working on Ojaveda. The parts that don't exist in Legacy.
Damola says: Damola has only -5 with rats. And also 20 with Ulbernauts.
Hulla says: are you already in the proces of making ( tons ) of new quest ?
Migg says: he is speechless!
Uadjet says: Heh, not quite speechless.
Uadjet says: I'm working on quests for Delver and Homestead right now, along with rewriting the lockpicking quests I did a few years ago to take advantage of the new chests script.
Hulla says: look like some farmer need help for the disepear cow in a near futur
Migg says: Would be nice to have some bard or musician somewhere
Uadjet says: I also wasted some time working on an iridescence shader for PSU. Not sure if there will ever be a use for it, but it's fun to do. :)
Migg says: How about the radiant river and lake?
Migg says: or not a good use for these?
Uadjet says: Those are a sector over on the far side of Ojaveda, and I think the plan is to fill the currect sectors then work on a sector or two on the next level down.
>Migg Ellorean picked up a Closed Dark Wood Barrel
Migg says: well, whenever
Hulla says: perhaps my old dream to finaly USE the winch can be real
Uadjet says: I think we're all looking forward to actually riding that thing.
Anysu says: To ride the Winch be great.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Migg says: Young people these days!! noone wants to walk!
Damola wants to fly there by Pterosaur
Uadjet says: But for Ojaveda, the full city can be seen in PSU or the streams. Talad is working on making actual buildings, instead of the rectangles and cones which exist now.
Anysu says: Flying be cool as well
Gova says: Heck yeah!
Uadjet says: That's 5 km down, so walking down ramps and tunnels would take a long time. How steep a decline could the ramps be?
Glorgal says: i have an rpg adventure module where the math has already been done. i'll try to find it.
Glorgal says: also, perhaps there could be hidden/secret factions that the players cannot see, which determines some reactions.
Uadjet says: I think Delving is 50m deep, and the road from top to bottom was something like 370 meters. That's just over 7m of road for every 1m down. If the ramp on the edge is the same steepness then it'll be at least 40km or so of ramps and tunnels. Not a fun walk.
Uadjet says: I can think of at least one faction whose membership will be completely secret, and a few more whose membership might be surprising.
Migg says: dark *cough cough* flame *cough*
Glorgal says: i found it: in the game, a pit is 15,000 feet deep. 550 feet diameter. a spiral descends 150 feet, with the distance walked being 1730 feet so to travel the full depth of the pit is a 33 mile walk
Migg says: Oh, just noticed! The staff shimmers in my inventory, but not here!
An arm reaches out and grabs Migg, pulling him into the shadows.
Uadjet says: Some things should not be mentioned. ;)
Anysu says: Thought it was black flame not dark
Glorgal says: :-D first rule of _____ _____
Migg says: It's dark in here!
Damola protests "I say Dark Flame and whatever other name whenever I like."
Glorgal bursts into song. *we don't talk about _____ _____ no no no no no...*
Damola says: Black flame! Lord Voldemort. I do not fear you.
Damola grins
Migg says: Spam spam spam, bbeautifull spam!
Damola says: Anything else on topic left?
Migg says: Couldn't help it, comes to me whenever dwarfs sing
Uadjet says: Or when doves cry. And now I have to listen to Prince. Not that doing so is a bad thing.
Uadjet says: So, any questions about all that?
Migg says: Well, dwarves here wear horned helms
Gova says: They make them look taller.
Glorgal says: i am a little confused about this crying dove thing. is that being actively worked on?
Gonger says: Which Prince song? Never really connected to him.
Migg says: so does everyone else you'll say, but I bet they brought them into fashion
Uadjet says: When Doves Cry.
Gonger says: Gova, may you understand one day that true size is nothing physical.
Anysu says: Clamavi De Profundis is a group that has sort of a medievil flare to it's music. Even dwarf songs/
Gonger says: I call from the Depths? Sounds like Dwarves, allright.
Anysu says: My D&D DM uses thier songs a bit.
Migg says: and an antiviral trait?
Gonger says: No... clamavi...is that imperfect?
Migg says: clamav
Gonger scratches his head, trying hard to remember his Latin lessons.
Anysu says: Yup Gonger. So is song loss of the Negakerdak... dwarves there in that song. Sorry got off topic.
Migg says: dwarves are never off topic
Glorgal says: dwarfs are a hot topic
Uadjet says: Since we're more interested in music, I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: Small crowd today.
Zarre says: Hi o/
Uadjet says: I think today sets the record for literal last minute arrivals. :D
Uadjet says: Okay, so if there are any initial questions just step up to the lecterns. If not, I'll give an update on what's been happening in the last two weeks.
Migg says: I have a couple quesstions on PSU, idk if thiss is the right place
>Damola Etedi bows to Gonger Xaraha.
>Damola Etedi winks at Gova Liernan playfully.
>Teleported Kifunstus Zyziferous to meetingore in instance 345
>Dentritus Illythien bows to Damola Etedi.
Migg says: or three :)
>Teleported Anysu Atani to Anysu's Small Table in instance 345
Anysu laughs
Anysu says: Right on track, Uadjet
Uadjet says: You can absolutely ask PSU questions in here. At least until we start holding meetings in PSU. :)
Damola did share some things about PSU 0.7.18 in forum.
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Small Table.
Uadjet says: :D
Anysu chuckles and goes and sits
Damola says: Ah, Uadjet, then you may only ask questions in PS CS in PSU? :)
Uadjet says: Somehow I just know I'll be holding meetings in both...
Migg says: OK, lots of questions:D
Uadjet says: Migg?
>Damola Etedi listens intently to Migg Ellorean.
Migg says: Is there a way to scale e.g the chat text in PSU? if the window is small then the text is too small to read
Migg says: haven't found a setting that affects that
Kifunstus says: there is options in the menu , talked to talad about stretching out the menu icons
Uadjet says: There is
Damola says: Can't you set the font sizes for different things in PSU?
Uadjet says: You can thank my middle-aged eyes for my knowing that.
Migg says: There are 4 toggles, only two work
Migg says: but they don't scale the chat text
Uadjet says: They do for me. Well, one does at least. I was using it constantly when getting coordinates for guildhouse entrances.
Migg says: Also graphic elements scale with the window, would expect them to be fixed in size
Uadjet says: I'll log in after the meeting and see which one was working.
Migg says: OK thanks
Migg says: Next, is there a way to move the chat window?
Kifunstus says: you can move it like in legacy , its just transparent outside window , needs more detail so you can tell
Migg says: I can grab the window here and move it
Migg says: In PSU when I try to grab and move it moves my view instead
Migg says: I can resize but not move it
Kifunstus says: all the your engine windows need a better outerline so you can tell you are clicking it for a move, but they all do
Kifunstus says: your = you R
Uadjet says: You can, but you need to find the right spot. I think it's on the left by the tabs.
Damola says: Yeah, but it at times is very difficult to hit the window border or outline.
Migg says: so you need to grab by the outer frame left of the tabs?
Migg says: or border
Kifunstus says: for now , yup
Migg says: tried various spots without success
Kifunstus says: I told talad we could migrate after UI issues like that are resolved, ttoo finiky
Migg says: OK, sso noone is sure, but a sweet spot does exist
Migg says: Third question: Where are books saved?
Kifunstus says: local machine , or in game
Migg says: I want to try out loading the XML from the wiki but can't figure out where to put it
Uadjet says: It is awkward. You can move the dialogue box, though. I was doing that in the Dryken Plane, as I think the sidebar for displaying crystals was blocking my ability to click on the chat bar. I feel naked and vulnerable without my GM commands.
Damola says: I moved all windows, but with several it has been difficult to find the right spot, and… I did not clearly remember which one it was for each window.
Uadjet says: Books (in Legacy) are stored in their own folder. Are you talking about PSU? I've not tried books there.
Migg says: PSU
Migg says: tried renaming and saving a book I bought in the library, but couldn't find it
Migg says: As you can see I am back to Hydlaa :D
Migg says: The crash fix on Linux seems to work for me
Migg says: I lag at times but don't crash
Uadjet says: That may not work the same way as in Legacy, but there should be a local copy for out-of-game editing.
Kifunstus says: I would assume the books are better hardcoded on the server with unreal engine
Migg says: I will try adding some text, perhaps it's only saved if it has text in it
Migg says: Oh I do hope they are not hardcoded in the server, unless coy-paste works in PSU
Migg says: Also not sure how to edit XML directly in the embedded editor
Kifunstus says: i just copy pasted text into the PSU chat box
Migg says: What worries me is I only see an Y coordinate for icons, so some things may not be portable to PSU, for example the number book
Uadjet says: I do think copy/paste works in PSU, but local books are extremely handy.
Migg says: Also eagerly awaiting the list of icons to numbers conversion list :D
Migg says: OK, that's all from me!
Kifunstus says: I am unable to open my Hand drawn scroll in PSU currently , just tested, maybe bbooks not been coded yet
Migg says: Oh, didn't even open a scroll yet, just looked at a book
Migg says: also IIRC the containers I carry were not there
Uadjet says: That's odd.
Kifunstus says: unable to open a music scrool either yet , I guess its not done yet
Migg says: May have missed them
Migg says: I carry lots of things :D
Uadjet says: I log in as my guard, since my GM char crashes the client whenever selected. As does my event character. Traits don't match the race, you see. I don't normally carry containers as my guard, so I might not have noticed that.
Migg says: Interface is different, the slots seem less
Migg says: so maybe they are further down and I missed them
Migg says: I have 32 slots in my inventory here
Uadjet says: Ah, that could be it.
Kifunstus says: I just successfully bought a book in PSU and pasted text into it,
Migg says: can you paste XML?
Gova says: I will never admit how long it took for me to realize there was a fourth row in inventory slots I could scroll down to.
Kifunstus says: @migg sorry , not experience with XML myself
Migg says: there are examples in the PSWiki
Damola grins towards Gova "How long did it take?"
Kifunstus says: migg drop a link in Discord and I will try for you
Gova says: Or how long it took me to find the Octarch's Residence.
Migg says: not on discord
Damola says: Haha, I didn't know about the Octarch's Residence for a long, long time.
Gova says: I didn't realize I could scroll down until I did it accidentally and everything I had in the top row vanished. Most of my best stuff was there, as this was before NPC storage existed.
Kifunstus says: i cannot recall if I visited the residence lol
Kifunstus says: before storage my collection of Bags were beyond valuable lol
Migg says: <Page><Text>Some text.</Text></Page>
Uadjet says: Okay, I've got some things to test in PSU. :)
Migg says: That should be a valid XML for a book with "Some text." in it
Uadjet says: I'll give you all a little update on what Talad's been up to.
Damola says: cool
Kifunstus says: ahh there is a note here , For Books we changed the XML format as we do not have all the same formatting capabilities we want , 31st july 2021
Uadjet says: Last meeting I think I told you he was working on Talents and Combat Maneuvers.
Uadjet says: Some are granted by having a high enough skill or attribute, and some by membership in groups like the Order of the Keen Edge.
Uadjet says: I think it's Eonwind and Zunna working on the combat schools. If you don't know about combat schools, give me a few seconds and I'll post a link to the wiki.
Kifunstus says: miggiin I just messaged with the link about XML formatting change
Migg says: ?
Kifunstus says: if your miggiin in discord
Migg says: I have seen PSWiki
Migg says: and I am not in Discord
Uadjet says: planeshift.top-ix.org/pswiki/index.php/Combat_System
Kifunstus says: search PS wiki convert_books_to_PSUnreal
Migg says: Yes, that's where I found out how to write the example I wrote before
Migg says: it doesn't say where books are stored in PSU though
Kifunstus says: the example change of XML formatting worked, I now have a book with images and text
Kifunstus says: by copy paste
Migg says: you pasted the XML example directly in the editor?
Migg says: Ah, OK, good to know!
Kifunstus says: in game editor yes
Migg says: will try what the Y coord does
Migg says: but I miss an X coord :)
Uadjet says: After that, Talad switched to working on factions.
Uadjet says: The faction system has had a big overhall, so you might want to watch one of the vids just to see the lists of factions.
Migg says: rats don't like me :D
Uadjet says: I don't think the rat faction will be in PSU, sadly.
Uadjet says: But you'll have faction ranks, which are like the descriptions you see on the current factions page.
Uadjet says: For the last week Talad's been working on the Dermorian town of Raurim.
Uadjet says: For those who have tried PSU, have you noticed an unusually large, somewhat wonky tree near the junction of two rivers?
Uadjet says: It's near the road from Hydlaa to Oja, but further away from the edge.
Kifunstus says: I saw it on Talads stream, he spent lots of time working on it, not seen it in character yet
Damola says: Hmmm, not yet, but will look around there.
Migg says: Just came in from Oja, I sure missed it on the way
Uadjet says: That's the location of Raurim, where most of the housing is in the tree itself.
Damola says: I found some new places and spots, even a complete new path way, but not the one the leads to Delver, but another one that leads to an abyss.
Damola says: Nice
Damola says: But in PSU 0.7.18 its not yet implemented (except for the tree)?
Kifunstus says: talad has only built the tree so far from what I saw yesterday on stream
Damola says: Ah, I see. Thanks.
Damola says: I don't find the time to watch streams at the moment.
Migg says: Talad streams for hours on end! :D
Uadjet says: Yes. The tree is a lot less wonky in the streams. It should make for a very nice village.
Kifunstus says: skipping through the streams after the fact can be nice
Migg says: Nice for those who are not afraid of heights
Kifunstus says: Talad mentioned making invisible walls to prevent people falling off
Migg says: Uadjet has already created a preview in CS PS
Migg says: was quite high :D
Kifunstus says: it is a defining land mark for navigation :D
Uadjet says: Yeah, that was fun to make. :)
Damola says: yeah, that was nice in PS CS
Uadjet says: So that's a quick summary of what Talad's been up to. I've continued work on populating Amdeneir and the new villages, and worked on adding GM flight to the game.
Damola wants Damola flight
Damola grins
Migg says: *we* *want* *flight*!
Uadjet says: Honestly, the hardest part of adding flight was importing the mixamo animations to the game. All of the turorials were outdated!
Migg says: Well, Klyros should fly at least
Kifunstus says: is there plans to give our reptilian friends the ability to flap so they can effectively jump further than the rest of us
Uadjet says: Well, I think players won't be able to fly, as it makes getting outside of the completed map too easy. And by flight, I mean gaining altitude.
Kifunstus says: Klyros*
Damola says: And I hope there will be some fly or glide spells with Bird and Flight glyphs
Uadjet says: Gliding, on the other hand, seems acceptable.
Kifunstus says: Slow fall would be handy with the new dynamics availiable
Migg says: Just make the invisible walls higher, and add an invisible ceiling
Uadjet says: And I may have made some progress on that front. Nothing's been approved yet, but I spent a good part of last week playing around with slow fall and gliding effects. They're much the same thing, actually. The only difference is forward momentum.
>Kifunstus Zyziferous looks around smiling.
Gonger says: Uadjet said: The hardest part of adding flight WAS... so it is done?
Damola says: Nice!"
Uadjet says: GM flight works. It's quite easy in Unreal, as it has a built-in "Is Flying" mode.
Uadjet says: I just really wanted those animations from Mixamo. :)
Migg says: waste of effort if you ask me
Damola steals GM flight glyph from Uadjet and uses her copy glyph to make a copy of it.
Migg says: GMs are always invisible :D
Uadjet says: Yeah, but WE know how cool we look!
Kifunstus says: So there is plans for Petrosaur flight paths we can check out the world with as we travel and not just instant then ?
Migg says: If a GM flies while invisible, do they make a sound?
Uadjet says: Actually, the take off and landing animations were from something Epic made. Only the horizontal flying position was from mixamo. Until I found the takeoff and landing animations I was just going to have us floating midair in a crossed legs sitting position.
Migg says: Ah, Kifunstus , now that would be great!
Uadjet says: The pterosaur flight paths would be great, but would also take quite a bit of work. Each map section would need to be loaded, and that takes time. Could be very choppy, especially for those with slow computers.
Kifunstus says: would also make having a petrosaur stable or waiting for a petrosaur a real thing to experience
Damola says: Kifunstus, that would be nice. Fully animated Pterosaur travel.
Damola has NVMe SSD
Uadjet says: I suppose it the pterosaur went high enough at the start the game could load only the most basic versions of those maps. That might help.
Kifunstus says: Standing on a high point and looking around already has a similar effect of loading a massive amount of terrain
Damola says: That is fast enough for me. Looking around at a high point.
Migg says: would lag a lot for me, but I think I would not crash now
Kifunstus says: getting talad to add an FPS limiter fixed my issues with looking around at high points already
Uadjet says: I think that's the full update. Oh! About the town of Delver: Does anyone have a thought on what the waterwheel should power?
Uadjet says: I think the windmill is for grinding grain, but the waterwheel wouldn't do the same thing.
Kifunstus says: a mill for grains, they vegetarians right ?
Migg says: If there are trees near, then a sawmill
Kifunstus says: it could power the blowers for a furnace |?
Damola says: Not sure on that. I tried swimming there meanwhile, basically works, but the animation is a bit wonky at times and seems to be a bit unsure on deciding whether to swim or walk at some areas
Uadjet says: A sawmill would likely have an outdoor log-cutting structure. There is a free model for that online, but it would have to be added in.
Migg says: could also pump water to irrigate fields and act as a water supply for the town?
Damola says: water supply sounds interesting
Uadjet says: A water-pump would work, though we'd need pipes or troughs.
Damola says: and/or for grains.
Damola says: Both would make sense for me.
Kifunstus says: irigation systems sounds like a fantastic option
Uadjet says: It could be a paper mill, or used in creating textiles from kormi wool.
Migg says: these were made by hand in medieval times
Migg says: textiles
Migg says: and papyrus was also hand-made
Migg says: Could power hammers for iron-working
Kifunstus says: fibre mushing was more about waterlogging than maching with a turn wheel
Uadjet says: Fulling was done by watermills in medieval times, I think.
Migg says: need to look that up
Migg says: idk what fulling is :D
Kifunstus says: google says , the process of cleaning shrinking and fleting both by heat pressure and moisture
Uadjet says: Neither did I until I looked up uses for water mills. :D
Uadjet says: I do like irrigation, though I don't know if Talad is interesting in adding troughs to the map.
Damola says: See you all! Take care.
Kifunstus says: a water wheel could have a set of cogs attached to it , so it could be used for multiple things ?
Uadjet says: That's true.
Anysu says: Are we done?
Uadjet says: Well, I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Kifunstus says: cheers Uadjet
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming! I'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks!
Anysu says: Thanks for the update
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Migg says: Thank you for the updates!
Anysu says: Bye for now!
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
Migg says: And the flight, even if only for GMs!
Dentritus says: Thanks
Migg says: Bye all!
>3 shown from 3 players online
Uadjet says: And Migg's gone. Drat.
Uadjet says: Settings-Interface-Chat Text increases font size in the dialogue box. Click and drag on the chat window on the left under the auctions tab to drag the box around.
Uadjet says: Books aren't saved locally yet. Containers exist and hav ethe correct contents.
Uadjet says: There we go. Off to make dinner!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: So, any questions off the bat? if so, step up in line behind Gonger.
Uadjet says: Gonger?
Gonger says: Greetings, not really a question, but a reminder. During one of the last meetings I mentioned that the Download part of the website can easily understood as obligatory payments for the game.
Gonger says: This did not change yet.
Uadjet nods. "You're right. I'll poke Talad about it right after sending in my latest infrvision/nightvision/watervision package so that he's in a good mood. :D"
Gonger says: Thanks.
Fliks says: sorry im late
Fliks says: and thanks
Fliks says: psu look great
Uadjet says: Okay, I'll give a little rundown of what Talad's been streaming about.
Fliks says: but the plate mail armor for enkies is untextured
Uadjet says: Oh, that was three weeks of streaming to summarize this time. Yikes!
Uadjet says: So he's pretty well done on achievements. He's got the triggers working, so players will be able to get the new ones in PSU.
Uadjet says: Some achivements will have to be redone, like the 'fish 7 types of fish" achievment.
Gonger says: We can live with that :)
Uadjet says: Ported players won't start with that type of thing because they only way would be to see what types of fish you have in storage, and you could just as easily have gained those in another way.
Uadjet says: The same goes for looted items. There will be some that look for a certain enchantment (like Masterwork), and others for items with a certain rarity.
Uadjet says: There are well over a hundred achievements now, so that'll keep people busy for a while!
Uadjet says: So after that he went on to Action locations. Those are pieces of the map that you can right-click on to get options. Like teleports, puzzles, and guild entraces.
Gonger says: If Talad is working on something like this - fun, but not crucial to the game - the official release must be getting closer?
Uadjet says: Oh, it is.
Uadjet says: And I think working on the non-critical stuff helps Talad keep his motivation up and looks good to potential players and even potential developers.
Uadjet says: That brings us to guildhouses. The lack of instances in Unreal causes a bit of an issue. Obviously guildhouses were being ported, but it was thought that items within them might need to be picked up by guildmembers and then placed in the new guildhouse in PSU.
Damola says: Yeah, the porting took a long time, completely understandably, but for some players it might be an disappointment, if it would just be an 1:1 port without anything new. But there already is a lot, really a lot of new stuff in PSU.
Uadjet says: Oh, the guildhouses will be on one level, but placed far enough apart that you can't get from one to another. Invisible collision barriers would make that certain, though I just realized that I don't know what happens if someone falls off the map. I'll ask Talad about that.
Damola says: I think it is important to recognize that for any kind of marketing we do.
Anysu says: Whoa myguildhouse has loads of things.. and to pick them all up!!
Damola says: I have been in The Family guild guild house and it looked quite okayish, rotation of some items was not right, but that was mentioned in the release notes.
Uadjet says: Talad found a solution to that. He's worked out a system where the items will be placed in the new guildhouses.
Anysu says: whew
Uadjet says: He spent quite some time on it, and other than some rotation issues it's working pretty well.
Gonger says: Great!
Damola says: Ah, that is nice, yeah, it seemed everything is there, I did not look into containers yet.
Uadjet says: Yeah, I deliberately didn't mention that he found a solution in the same post as mentioning the problem. Building up a little dramatic tension, you see.
Fliks says: ;)
Anysu says: Yup that was heart stopping
Uadjet says: So it looks like the guildhouses in PSU will be just like they are in Legacy the first time you enter them. If there are any lingering rotation issues, I'll be able to help with those. I quite like helping people furnish their guildhouses, so don't hesitate to ask!
Gonger says: I almost fainted...
Anysu nods at Gonger
Migg says: I am missing some context here
Uadjet says: My initial plan was to take screenshots and then try to drag everything into place manually. Fortunately Talad figured out something better.
Uadjet says: Ah, for Migg I'll repost:
Uadjet says: That brings us to guildhouses. The lack of instances in Unreal causes a bit of an issue. Obviously guildhouses were being ported, but it was thought that items within them might need to be picked up by guildmembers and then placed in the new guildhouse in PSU.
Migg says: thank you
Uadjet says: Oh, the guildhouses will be on one level, but placed far enough apart that you can't get from one to another. Invisible collision barriers would make that certain, though I just realized that I don't know what happens if someone falls off the map. I'll ask Talad about that.
Uadjet says: Talad found a solution to that. He's worked out a system where the items will be placed in the new guildhouses.
Uadjet says: He spent quite some time on it, and other than some rotation issues it's working pretty well
Uadjet says: Yeah, I deliberately didn't mention that he found a solution in the same post as mentioning the problem. Building up a little dramatic tension, you see.
Uadjet says: That should cover it.
Migg says: So what was it that gave Gonger a heart attack?
Uadjet says: The possibility of having to redecorate the guildhouse from scratch, I think.
Migg says: Ah, OK
Gonger says: First, to carry all these items over...
Migg says: but given the amount of rotated objects in my guildhouse, rotation issues may be heartwrenching as well
Uadjet says: That was the likely scenario, then it was all items in a pile in the center of the guildhouse after I took screenshots of where everything was in every guildhouse, then it was Talad doing the math and figuring out a way to do it all himself.
Anysu says: Same with me.. having to gather all items in gh myself
Migg says: I mean, Jensa's craddle should be made from more than 50 items
Anysu says: EL is an older guild and has gathered many many items. And not many of us active to help move items.. never could get them all in my inventory
Migg says: not to mention all the rotation that went into creating walls, plumbing, decorations...
Uadjet says: Yeah, a lot of work went into those guildhouses.
Anysu says: Praise Talad for sorting it out!
Migg says: I can move a bit in the new PSU after upgrading my system
Migg says: I have more luck in the plane where things aren't loaded
Migg says: but Hydlaa crashes my game consistently
Uadjet says: So there's also the new Amdeneir guildhouse, which will be available day 1 in PSU. Some guilds might request having their guildhouse changed to that, especially those located in Amdeneir. That will be possible, though you will have to decorate from scratch. There's no way around that.
Fliks says: yeah hydlaa is corrput
Fliks says: corrupt*
Fliks says: yay guildhouses
Fliks says: me and my guild can no longer be homeless
Migg says: I get some GPU memory error, so wonder if there is a minimum amount of GPU memory required to play? Anyone know?
Migg says: And sorry for constantly changing the subject
Uadjet says: And on the topic of houses - not guildhouses - Nevarim has built a nice little Dermorian house. It's open to the world, so people can go in. Stream 636 is about that house.
Migg says: Go in as you go in the tavern?
Uadjet says: On linux? There's been a bug that causes crashes in Hydlaa for ages, though a fix may have been found.
Migg says: Yes, Linux
Migg says: but before the update I also crashed during character creation, so IDK
Migg says: I updated to latest Mesa and Vulkan I could find
Migg says: made things better but still can't run in Hydlaa
Uadjet says: Yes, Migg. Just like that. It's similar in size, I think, to the (not yurts, have to look it up on the wiki apologize for the delay) Ultics in Ojaveda.
Fliks says: when i did the "fix" it didnt do anything for me i till crash in hydlaa
Migg says: NPCs can now go inside such houses for the night instead of just waiting at the door
Migg says: And switching threads, what *is* the fix?
Uadjet nods. "It's a nice looking hut, so I think Dermorians will enjoy seeing a little bit of their architectural style in game."
Migg says: it's a hut for the wilderness, not a city house?
Uadjet says: And there is a place for a Dermorian town in PSU, in between Hydlaa and Oja but away from the edge. Maybe... 35% of the way towards the outer edge? 40%?
Uadjet says: Watch vid 636 and you'll get a much better idea of what it looks like than I could ever give here. :)
Damola says: Had no crash in Hydlaa with 0.7.18 so far, but crashes with upto I think 0.7.16
Migg says: If I move to another city here, will it carry over to PSU?
Uadjet says: So after Talad did all of that, he started working on Talents again. Specificall combat maneuvers. I have yet to watch the last three streams myself, due to having to do a full reinstall on my pc, the event, and taking a nap. I'll catch up shortly.
Uadjet says: @Migg: Only after the database is migrated over again.
Uadjet says: I can move you in PSU. You still count as online while you're crashing, and if I move you then it will actually change your location.
Thosor says: Do the maneuvers involve changing keys, such as the tab key functions?
Migg says: Thanks Uadjet, then I need to find you online?
Thosor says: To keep the mouse pointer from bottoming (or siding) out pressing tab gives you constant mouselook, but then does combat mode things.
Uadjet says: I can do it immediately after the meeting ends, if you like.
Migg says: Thanks!
Uadjet says: After the reinstall my PC is loading PSU much faster than before.
Jeranenie says: Windows ?
Uadjet says: I think Tab just toggles combat mode.
Uadjet says: Yeah
Jeranenie says: 10 or 11 ?
Damola says: GMs sleep? Awesome.
Damola grins
Damola says: I don't like the mouse look at all.
Damola says: CS PS does not look mouse to window.
Damola says: *lock I mean.
Uadjet says: @Damola We sleep on occasion. Often during Dev Q&As, when there are Devs around to talk. :D
Fliks says: i liked it when you can turn wich way your facing useing the keys
Fliks says: its much nicer then the mouse look
>Thosor Riereri nods at Fliks Clawrer.
Fliks says: fgor me it stops me form doing so much as i do alot of thing will runnung somwhere
Uadjet says: I think that fuction could be added in. It is nice to have keys just to turn which way you're facing.
Damola says: long time no dev around to talk though
Thosor says: Maneuverability while fighting a beast is very difficult.
Uadjet says: They are around, just not at meetings.
Uadjet says: Oh! Eonwind and Zunna are currently working on the faction system.
Damola says: Yeah, I think player preferences are different, but I found PS Unreal more difficult to navigate than CS PS. Part of it may be habit. But I really dislike locking the mouse to the window.
Uadjet says: It'll be a bit different, and more meaningful to play.
Damola says: Nice.
Damola says: ^ faction system
Uadjet says: And one of the tasks that Talad is hoping someone will take on is coming up with NPCs for the towns of Delver and Homestead. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Uadjet says: I've been trying to populate Amdeneir myself.
Uadjet says: Not like that! Don't make it dirty!
Thosor says: just no more tax collectors :)
Mylenae says: Delver is a mining town?
Uadjet says: But I've been coming up with a list of roles for people in the city, and it wasn't too hard. If you want to create an NPC or two for a small farming town you can say so now or put the information in a petition.
Thosor says: A small drinking town with a fishing problem.
Migg says: a town's character can be helpful to set the tone
Uadjet nods.
Uadjet says: It's a farming town, I think. But it has both a windmill and a waterwheel.
Mylenae says: Delver, or Homestead?
Uadjet says: One could be for grain, but the other could be a water pump, or a sawmill, or for hammering metal, or weaving.
Migg says: A windmill and a watermill both need millers
Uadjet says: That was Delver. Homestead is atop a hill, which is a bit different.
Uadjet says: Good point, Migg.
Migg says: and if Delver is near a forest, a sawmill would be quite appropriate
Migg says: so throw in a lumberjack or two
Migg says: just not in high heels please
Mylenae says: A charcoal burner
Uadjet says: I've been looking at sawmills. There are some models out there that look pretty nice, and of course Skyrim had them.
Migg says: Ah, charcoal burner makes charcoal from wood?
Migg says: but they do it out in the open, near the wood source and away from towns
Mylenae says: yes. it's an occupation and a type of structure
Anysu says: A rat catcher. A drunk.
Uadjet says: Amdeneir has a drunk already, amusingly enough.
Migg says: conveniently tucked away though
Uadjet says: I'm also rebuilding a lock I made a year or more ago, to be used in the lockpicking minigame.
Anysu says: lockpicking,, yeah!!!
Uadjet says: It's a pin and tumbler lock that's been sawed in half. A lot like the elder scrolls online one, I think. Except mine isn't upside down.
Thosor says: Up and down sawmills were early versions of water powered ones.
Uadjet says: Okay, that's what the last three weeks have been about, development side. Any questions on that?
Uadjet says: No? In that case I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Gonger says: Thank you all.
Migg says: Thank you!
Uadjet says: Migg, I can log into PSU now, to rescue you from Hydlaa.
>Gova Liernan cheers happily!
Anysu says: Thank you for update and all you do Uadjet.
Migg says: Thanks, will log out here to open it
Migg says: Bye all!
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
>Anysu Atani bows to Anysu's Small Table.
Anysu says: lol
Damola says: Thank you.
Anysu says: Bye all
>Anysu Atani lets out a hearty laugh!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: If you have any questions, please line up at the lecterns. If not, I'll give a quick update of what's been going on behind the scenes.
>Anysu Atani listens intently to Uadjet.
Gonger says: And a big welcome to the many new faces!
Uadjet says: First off, Talad released a new version of PSU since the last meeting! This one needs to be downloaded, so send a tell to Talad on Discord if you have 200 or more hours in game and would like the download link.
Uadjet says: So that's version 7.16, for those keeping track.
Uadjet says: A few days after that he released an update that solved some of the new crashing bugs, so please do make sure to run the launcher and get that update.
Damola says: Yeah, I updated to 0.7.17 two days ago.
Uadjet says: PSU now has a new dungeon, and to go along with it are traps, levers to open doors, etc.
Uadjet says: He's also added the first special abilities. In this case it's Detect Secrets, which is gained by having 180 intelligence (iirc). Activate that ability and you'll search whatever you're looking at for things like secret doors.
Uadjet says: There are plenty of bug fixes in there as well, but I suspect it's the new dungeon that'll draw the most interest. :D
Damola says: How is an ability different from a skill? Is it binary, you either have it or you don't instead of gradual with a skill from 0 to 200?
Damola says: I did not find it yet, but did not have much time to look around so… hope to find it in the future.
Gonger says: West of Hydlaa, that is all I know.
Uadjet says: It's gained by having a stat or skill at a certain level, and yes you either have it or you don't. It's possible that improving the stat/skill that grants it will make you better at it, though. I know the traps in the dungeon can be very hard to disarm. Got a little singed.
Gonger says: To our new friends: Please do not hesitate to ask questions. Stand in front of the lecterns to do so.
Uadjet says: West of Hydlaa, and not that far. Closer to Hydlaa than the Emerald Lake, I'm sure.
Uadjet says: Keep your eyes peeled, as only the entrance is visable above ground.
Uadjet says: PSU now also has models for gobbles, tloke, and velnishi. Apparently the old versions didn't play nicely with Unreal. And there's a new coamti texture, which was never used by mistake.
Uadjet says: Krylor?
Krylor says: in psunreal i cannot see the contents of my inventory, what is the status on getting this completed so i can tell more easily what i am moving around in my bag
Uadjet says: Can you open your inventory? Or does it appear empty? Or is the window just blank or something?
Krylor says: i can open my inventory, but all of the images look blurred and the same
Uadjet says: Are you leaving the window open? I see that when I first open the inventory, but the icons usually load quite quickly.
Krylor says: i have not been able to get the icons to load, but i don't have the latest update either, so that might fix it?
Damola says: I recommend to always check for issues with the latest version. However, Inventory always worked for me.
Uadjet says: It's possible that some icons aren't ported over. Have you filed a bug report? And did you include some sample items that don't have the proper icons?
Krylor says: no items have the proper icons, and no i haven't filed a bug report.
Uadjet says: If you give me the names of some of the items in your inventory (like apple, or longsword) I can check to see if those icons load properly for me.
Krylor says: i figured it was something that was currently not completed yet
Krylor says: platinum ore, apple, various books, hammer, rat hide, various ignots.
Uadjet says: I'll take a look next time I'm in PSU, then, to see if they work for me. File a bug report if the problem persists after updating PSU.
Krylor says: alright, thank you.
Teknon says: Hi everyone. So I have not looked into PSU much yet but thought it was still under heavy development. Is it stable now or still under heavy development?
Thosor says: my inventory comes in with all icons blurred just for a couple seconds, then OK.
Uadjet says: Teknon?
Teknon says: Is PS unreal stable enough to play or still in more of a beta?
Uadjet says: We normally call it an alpha. :)
Uadjet says: But it's still very much in the testing phase.
Teknon laughs
Teknon says: Even better
Uadjet says: Significant parts of the game don't work yet, which is why Talad wants people to give it a try and see what bugs they can find.
Damola says: But it is already very nice to run around in Yliakum as in PSUnreal. It looks much, much better than here in Crystal Space based PS.
Teknon says: Gotcha, makes sense.
Teknon glances at Damola
Teknon says: Yes I believe it
Uadjet says: Amdeneir is gorgeous, for one. And it's actually complete! Well, other than the ptero training area and the aquifer.
Damola says: Not all parts are similarily improved as some textures are still the same, but running around in nature outside of the cities, awesome.
Damola says: And well then Amdeneir!
Damola says: Completely different with all the added areas.
Teknon says: Are player accounts reset or still have everything from here?
Damola says: Even Ojaveda should have the missing area, but I did not find how to access it yet.
Thosor says: Drunken plane map in my linux machine is still unusable, ok in W10.
Uadjet says: Emerald Lake is huge. It has no water just yet, but when it does...
Gonger says: Characters will be ported.
Gonger says: Most likely with some minor modifications due to the new engine
Gonger says: But in principle you will keep items, stats, and skills.
Uadjet nods. "Characters will be ported as is."
Thosor claps
Teknon says: Excellent!
Uadjet says: Heck, Talad is even keeping achievements that can't be obtained anymore, so he's not tossing anything out.
Thosor says: Yes, so keep busy in legacy, it will come with you.
Teknon says: Last question: Are there any plans to advertise/promote PSU in Social Media or elsewhere after development is further along?
Uadjet says: Right now every time Talad does a new PSU release, he ports over the accounts as they are at that time. So what you do in PSU isn't kept yet. That's probably good, all things considered. It is an alpha, after all.
Teknon says: Obviously that would take cash so... yeah :)
Gonger says: We do advertise. I do, at least :)
Uadjet says: There are plans, yes, but any big push is waiting for PSU to be a bit more... polished. Completed. At the very least Working.
Gonger says: The semi-official-one-dwarf-pr-team
Uadjet says: A One Stonehammer Army.
Thosor says: In what xxxxbook?
Gonger says: I post reviews, set things straight that other reviews got wrong, I MENTION PlaneShift
Gonger says: Last year I was somewhat limited by a huge workload.
Anysu cheers for Gonger
Gonger says: This year things are better, and I am getting some of my energy back...
Gonger says: So I will have more time and energy for this.
Gonger says: I also discussed some ideas with Uadjet
Teknon says: I'd love to see an official wiki or site with some documentation, even more so than what's on planeshift.org also. There's so much info that's impossible to find or just plain wrong out there.
Gonger says: We will do more when the Unreal version is out.
Teknon says: I guess that promotes asking around in-game eh?
Gonger says: There is an official wiki.
Uadjet says: Google pswiki and you'll find it. Top result.
Thosor says: isn't .org the outdated spoiler site?
Teknon says: Ok, I'll check it out. I looked through the first 2 pages of results but the sites I looked at were not very complete.
Teknon says: maybe i missed it
Uadjet covers its earholes. "LA LA LA LA LA! I can't hear you discussing spoiler sites!"
Thosor says: Just join aa certain guild, is promoted.
Uadjet says: It's: planeshift.top-ix.org/pswiki/
Gonger says: That reminds me of Miracle Max in The Princess Bride.
Uadjet says: Now THAT is a wonderful compliment!
Uadjet says: So, other than that Talad's been doing work on guildhouses and action locations. The AL are needed to reach and leave guildhouses, so that makes sense.
Uadjet says: I'm trying to mark the locations of guild entrances and where you should get sent when you leave, so if you find any errors there it's entirely my fault.
Uadjet says: There is also a new model for a Dermorian hut!
Damola says: do guild houses work yet? I did not manage to open door.
Anysu says: Good question Damola
Uadjet says: A few action locations have been done, but not guidhalls. Those are a bit trickier, as the guildhouses have to be somewhere that nobody can reach except by the doors. Can't have people getting in who aren't supposed to. I've got coordinates for all but the Hydlaa guildhalls alreayd, and I'll get the rest done tonight or tomorrow.
Damola says: ah cause all in one map?
Uadjet says: I think it is, but guildhouses can simply be placed so far apart that they're impossible to get to. That's easy enough.
Uadjet says: So the last thing I should mention is the Planeshift Unreal Open Tasks.
Uadjet says: Some people have expressed interest in helping in some way, but maybe don't have the technical skills to port systems or fix bugs.
Uadjet says: Talad has created a list of ways for people to contribute.
Uadjet says: It's on Discord in announcements, and I'll see if I can get him to post it on the forum too.
Gonger says: Some points of the list are already taken.
Gonger whistles innocently.
Uadjet says: There are quite a few things on it, and most of those items could use more than once person.
Uadjet says: Example tasts are things like adding npcs/quests to new locations like Homestead and Delver...
Uadjet says: Creating 3D art or icons for items that are missing them.
Tucas says: Is there for PS somthing like the OPENMW CS tool ?
Uadjet says: Creating new items, too. If you have an idea, run it past Talad.
Uadjet says: Voice work, adding new sounds, GM flight...
Gonger says: GM flight?
Uadjet says: Yeah, I like the sound of that. We can turn gravity off for ourselves, but not fly.
Uadjet says: Anything that looks like {Redacted for wrongness} would be awesome! :D
Teknon says: I need to bug out ya'll.
Uadjet says: Bye!
Teknon looks at Uadjet
Teknon says: Thanks for everything you guys are doing!
Uadjet says: I'm working on infravision/nightvision myself, and I'm going to see about underwater vision next.
Thosor says: and you!
Uadjet says: There's also a task for creating a lockpicking minigame.
Uadjet says: I started work on a lock 3D model ages ago, and it might be useful for that.
Anysu smiles at idea of lockpicking.
Uadjet says: If so, it's like the Elder Scrolls Online lockpicking game, but the lock won't be upside-down.
Uadjet says: And yes, I don't understand why people aren't as annoyed by the fact that their lock is upside-down as I am.
Thosor thinks a game is less useful than say picking a lock on a gov't house...
Uadjet says: There is info on how quests in PS are writeen on the forum, and it's really not as hard as I no doubt made it seem. ;)
Damola ponders "I never thought about the complexity of managing guild house maps. In CS PS they are different maps, so you can't have a window and look outside, cause there would be nothing there."
Uadjet says: Oh, and a task for adding lore about creatures. I should mention that, as to get the animal glyph I had people write a little blurb about a type of creature. Some of those were pretty nice.
Damola says: In PSUnreal it is all on one map so I thought you can just place the indoor parts of the house at exactly the location the house is. However, that doesn't work cause the house come in different shapes and sizes, but in a city almost all have the same indoor map.
Uadjet says: Well, they're the same maps, just different instances. If you go to instance -1, you see everything on that map in every instance. Do that in a guildhall and you'll see the contents of every copy of that map. And you'll get a version of the guildhouse bug that could take on the Hulk.
Uadjet says: And if you place them too close to where players can go they might be able to map glitch their way in.
Damola says: so in classic PS you can see the contents of all the interiour of all the guild house at once?
Damola imagines this would be *complete* chaos.
Uadjet says: Yeah, but it's such a ... Yeah, precisely that.
Anysu says: Sounds complicated
Damola says: I'd like to see that… just for the fun of it.
Damola says: Yeah, Anysu, I never thought about the complexities of this.
Damola says: Of course, you could tailor the indoor of every house to every house, but then you do not have one map per city, but need to exactly fit the indoor area to the size and shape of the house at exactly this location.
Damola wonders how God created our real world "Sounds like an awesome achievement."
Damola says: But yeah, in our real world an architect plans each house.
Damola says: Anyway, we are over the hour.
Damola says: Any Q left?
Uadjet says: If you have a question, run up to the lecterns and I'll wait. Otherwise...
Damola says: That youtube video link you posted gives "video unavailable" copied directly from chat file
Damola says: That "Anything that looks like…"
Uadjet says: Then I think we can bring the meeting to a close! Thank you all for coming and we'll see you again in three weeks! I'll post the fixed link in a moment...
Thosor says: 3 weeks?
Damola says: Good that in PSUnreal cut and paste should work, as I heard.
Uadjet says: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_r4B06Hx4E
Uadjet says: Should have put on my glasses...
Damola says: Thanks. This one works.
Damola says: Hah, fly like that Damola want.
Uadjet says: Oh, and there's a tracks on the ground or in water in my unreal library. It may take too much processing power to add to PSU, though.
Damola says: Still need to test out swimming in the lake in delving
Damola says: Thanks for Dev Q&A. See you!
Thosor says: Thanks
Gonger says: Thanks a lot, be seeing you!

Edit: 12 minutes later...

[Channel] [1: gossip] Uadjet: Oh! Achievements! Talad's started on Achievements! Knew I'd forgotten something.

Uadjet says: Gonger?
Gonger says: Greetings! Not a question, more a remark about the Download page on the PS website:
Gonger says: I think point 3 about payment should be changed to make more clear that this is strictly optional.
Gonger says: The way it is now, it looks obligatory, because it is part of a sequence.
Uadjet says: Ah, I haven't checked out that page in a while. One moment...
Uadjet says: I see what you mean.
Uadjet says: It's even listed before downloading the game, which could give the impression that you can't play until you pay something.
Gonger says: Aye
Thosor says: And many may think it is like other games, keep paying in game.
Uadjet says: I'll pass that on to Talad.
Gonger says: So maybe take this point 3 out of sequence, and put it separately below.
Gonger says: "If you wish to support this free game,..."
Gonger says: Thanks.
Uadjet nods. "Good suggestion."
Uadjet says: Okay, so for development news: A new version of the PSU alpha is out!
Damola says: Yeah, it appears movement on mount if improved once more.
Damola says: Did not have much time to play yet, and did not read up on any summary of changes so far, so keen to learn more
Uadjet says: Talad's fixed quite a few things, and he's currently working on the new bugs that have popped up. I missed today's stream, but whatever bug was giving him trouble is now fixed. He mentioned that on DIscord.
Harither says: he fixed in this stream some things.
Harither says: and was happy
Thosor says: Working well in Linux on my Framework machine. Just lightning flash type graphics weirdness as before.
Harither says: at the begin of 0.7.16 been some crashes but they are fixed now
Thosor says: I snoozed all last night there.
Uadjet says: Other than that, Talad is populating and decorating the dungeon he's been working on. It has a few NPCs now. Friendly ones, I mean. Stonehammers. He might not stream the hostile NPC locations. I wouldn't. :D
Thosor says: on the gobble bridge.
Harither says: sorry for the commants inbetween the meeting
Harither says: *comments
Uadjet says: Oh, no need to apologize. It's good to hear what was going on. :)
Uadjet says: And I got infravision and nightvision working, though both need fine tuning before they're ready to use.
Harither says: well we (i think there are some more here) testing for bugs.. trying (sometimes successfully) crashing the server
Uadjet says: Currently, items can be set to different 'heats', so a forge or lavvar will look hotter than a person.
Anysu says: Can you turn that ability option off if do not want to use it?
Uadjet says: Yes. It'll be able to be toggled via keyboard.
Uadjet says: Once I get that working, I'm thinking of working on some underwater effects. I don't know if they're really worth it, but it's a way to start learning to do things in the Unreal editor.
Uadjet says: Now if only I could get the editor to load in under 15 minutes.
Anysu says: Too long a wait for me, that be.
Uadjet says: I want to see if I can get the Nolthrir and Klyros version of nightvision to be a bit blue, as their eyes would be tuned to see better underwater where blue light travels best.
Thosor says: How about sonar pings or whale sounds?
Thosor says: A mount called Flipper?
Uadjet says: That might be included in an underwater pack I got free from Epic, actually. There was one with a crashed WW2 plane in there. :D
Uadjet says: I'm not sure where the sonar pings would be coming from, though. You mean from aquatic playable species?
Gonger says: Who knows what can be discovered in the levels that are underwater?
Uadjet says: Oh, the Deep could have just about anything! I'm not sure the Emerald Lake is quite big enough for whales. :)
Yacare says: dissorted noises of whales to hostile npcs
Thosor says: dolphins do it through their head organ, i believe.
Uadjet says: Talad did say that future maps will include other levels, instead of going all the way around the Dome first.
Damola says: Nice.
Anysu says: Would like to see other levels!!
Uadjet says: That opens up new environments, and room for more cities. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pillars of Felim, myself.
Uadjet says: And having that Winch actually move would be amazing!
Damola says: Would be nice to have the Winch actually doing something. I bet a travel with the winch would be more expensive than with a Pterosaur
Uadjet says: Probably. And it goes down 5 km per level, so it's not a quick trip. I'm assuming they'll shorten that a big. :D
Anysu says: That all be cool.
Damola says: Oh, what was the state regarding swimming and diving? I think in 0.7.15 its not yet implemented. I did not try in 0.7.16 yet.
Uadjet says: So I think having an actual area past the Bronze Doors (not to mention actual bronze doors) and the eventual possibility of seeing the other levels is pretty cool.
Gonger says: Well, after a difficult (work) year 2021, I am building up my energy again, so I will do more advertising for PlaneShift again... Hoping to attract some more people.
Gonger says: More players in the long run will also mean more developers.
Yacare says: wicj plataforn ads run por PS?
Uadjet says: Ah, swimming is (I think) only possible in the lake in Delver. That has to be set up for each area that players can swim in, and I think that's the only one active.
Uadjet says: For those who wish to test it, Delver is the first small town Talad built, and it's on the road between Hydlaa and the Eagle.
Damola says: Ah, I see. Need to try it there then. Damola would very much like to swim!
Gonger says: No ads, Yacare. I am writing reviews, and I answer to other reviews, things like that.
Yacare says: ohh
Lytoza says: Thanks, Gonger.
Yacare says: i mean socail media ads, work
Damola says: Have been there, but did not try to swim there. Its the one with the wind mill were we had an event, right?
Gonger says: Since PS is FFP (Fully Free to Play, my creation to make a difference towards F2P), we can hardly spend money on ads...
Anysu says: *nods at Gonger*
Gonger says: But all ideas are welcome.
Uadjet says: That's the one, Damola. You can swim in the small pond. The one with a few trees growing underwater, last I checked. :D
Yacare says: yeah, but maybe in a future, if PS can raise some money. some of that migth be uses in socials
Gonger says: Feel free to become a Patreon, then.
Gonger says: I did it now :)
Yacare says: haha
Damola says: thanks, Uadjet.
Yacare says: maybe an NFT system?
Gonger says: A what?
Yacare says: it migth work?
Uadjet says: non-fungible token?
Yacare says: i know ps is totally free, but who knows
Yacare says: yup
Damola says: didn't we have a forum thread about that? I did not understand what it all meant.
Gonger says: In that thread I had the impression that the origingal poster wanted to make money for himself throug PlaneShift, by giving a share to the game.
Damola says: Ah… interesting. I did not understand the intention at all.
Yacare says: oh wow
Anysu says: You should not have to pay anything, to do ps. Aside from support as pateron which is only optional. It is not like any game, not to make money but provide an rp platform and to max by doing not paying. IMO
Uadjet says: I never did get an answer on how a free game with no real world currency transactions would benefit from blockchain.
Gonger says: PS is free, PS shall remain free.
Gonger says: FFP, not F2P
Gonger says: I hate all those games that call themselves Free MMORPG, and then are neither FREE, nor RPG in our sense.
Gonger says: Makes it so much harder for people to find PlaneShift...
Anysu nods at Gonger
Yacare says: yup and the others pay millions on ads, thats a big diference
Yacare says: there si s no corner of the internet thta is not flooded with ads of mmrpgs
Thosor says: Someone I met wanted to sell a linux box with planeshift installed to make money. That was a couple cycles ago..
Gonger says: You may have read in the forums about the poll I was running on Reddit...
Gonger says: 555 people answered, and for 219 (!) it is enough RP if they choose a character Class...
Uadjet says: Ugh.
Thosor says: Non-commercial TV is as bad as commercial TV now, with all the "underwriter" ads.
Thosor says: Let those with tria support the game willingly for others to play free.
Anysu says: Any other developer news, Uadjet.
Gonger says: Only 4 people answered the poll on the PS forums
Harither says: a word to the tester... Pleease do check in bugs but before check if the bug already exists.
Uadjet says: I think that's all I have to announce today. Other things do go on, but I can't share quite everything.
Thosor says: I find it a bit hard to navigate the bug checker.
Harither says: in the bugtracker most bugs Ue related begin in the 7000'S
Harither says: i know thorso..
Harither says: but since we have legacy and ue we need to keep it as clean as possible.
Thosor says: If I want to find my flashing problem, is it graphics, layout, etc.
Uadjet says: Graphics, I would think.
Thosor says: Or I'm riding my drifter reverse saddle...
Thosor says: At least I keep my head now with the two vieing positions.
Thosor says: *viewing
Lytoza says: *tries not to laugh but fails*
Uadjet says: I have a joke for riding sidesaddle, but not reverse.
Thosor says: I do that too.
Thosor says: hard with no stirrups
Thosor says: Oh, and one neads a lot of padding on the saddle with it bouncing up and dow a meter or so.
Anysu says: Okay I have to go.
>Thosor Riereri bows to Anysu Atani.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet says: Drifters should provide a more gentle ride, one would think.
Anysu says: Thanks for the update, Uadjet
Harither says: i think riding is not in final state
Gonger says: And...pterosaurs???
Harither says: ptero rides work
Thosor says: I can't call my rivnek yet to see if it is different.
Harither says: ptero travel..
Thosor says: Now that the linux version is stable to me, I'll explore the bugtracker.
Uadjet says: It's a bit bumpy, yeah.
Damola says: See you all!
Uadjet says: But we're past the hour and I'm out of updates, so if there are no further questions....
Damola says: Look forward to 0.7.16 testing.
Damola says: Take care!
Gonger says: Any idea when PSU goes live?
Gonger says: Yeah, I know, terrible question... ;-)
Gonger says: I am not really expecting an answer
Yacare says: ok, thanks Uadjet
Thosor says: If the intro doesn't scare off players.
Uadjet says: Heh, no. No idea yet.
Harither says: well
Uadjet says: But it should have plenty of new things to keep people happy!
Harither says: testest and talad have different thoughts about that
Harither says: i think it will take a while..
Harither says: there is still some to implement to be on the same state as legacy (this version of PS=
Harither says: my opinion
Uadjet says: Then I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks. Have fun playing!
Harither says: also the in the world flying items need tobe fixedd.
Harither says: aye Uadhet
Harither says: *Uadjet
>Thosor Riereri bows to Uadjet.
Gonger says: Thank you for everything
Harither says: is Tua the only one who can work on the world beside talad?
Uadjet says: There are a few others, but I don't know how much time they have.
Harither says: i see
Uadjet says: If I did any world in-world, it would be adding hoodoos to the desert around Oja.
Harither says: heh
Harither says: some sandworms would be funny tho.
Harither says: small one not agressive
Uadjet says: There was a giant lizard in one of the free Epic packs. Hmm...
Harither says: hehe
Thosor says: Horny toads?
Gonger says: Horned, you mean...
Uadjet says: I hope....
Harither says: well a funny one
Thosor says: I wanted one so bad as a kid, but the pet shop was ut of them. ended up with an iguana.
Gonger shivers at the thought of meeting a swarm or horny toads.
Thosor says: It was more fun to let crawl into the living room full of my mother's friends.
Uadjet says: Ah, desert dragon. Head's a bit big for the body.
Thosor says: I hear chicken tastes like iguana
Gonger says: Well, thanks to you all, good night.
Thosor says: night all.
Harither says: same
Harither says: have to get up early
