Furay, I applaud your enthusiasm with your new guild! Though, don\'t be in such a hurry! Planeshift is still in its early stages and members come in time. When you first start out, you don\'t want a ton of members you can\'t keep control of, you want leaders that will form the basis, the stronghold of your guild. You need charismatic, intelligent individuals to uphold your guild, then after that is done you can focus on recruiting and organization. Not only this, but don\'t just take everyone who wants to join! You want your guild to be strong, and you want to (if your a good alignment guild) keep conflicts between other groups or individuals at a low. Your group must make decisions as a unison, and you want your members to get along with each other and agree upon decisions. Haha, though, what I say I can\'t prove as I\'ve never started a guild, but I do have a bit of experience from watching other guilds. So, good luck!

Hmn. Well, if that was the case then I\'d suppose it would work, as newbies don\'t usually carry items worth being looted. Though, I agree with Drix that this wouldn\'t stop griefers at all.. Maybe a bounty system could be implemented? Though.. the problem with bounties is that when you kill someone on a MMORPG they come back.. I think it would work though, such as:
A PKer kills someone.
In return, the PKer loots the body.
However, the PKer\'s \"bounty\" would be raised.
This bounty would consisty of either experience or coins (maybe a combination of both).

Though, this gives rise to possible exploits, such as raising your bounty then having friends kill you over and over again..

MMORPGs usually revolve around battling, and more recently weapon/armor smithing, and also shop keeping. However, when I play a MMORPG (or even regular RPGs for that matter) I tend to get tired of the same killing of monsters, weapon smithing, bartering.. and instead I just want to spend a little time doing something fun with friends. And in that, I ask for one (perhaps two) things that would be fun in PS but not essential. This could maybe take the form of a trading card game, animal raising(I don\'t like it, but maybe some do), fishing... just something that takes the tension off trying to get stronger, and just having a little bit of fun.

Drix, how much work would be involved just to have a character sit? And also for emotions?

These guild boards are hostile as ever. The only thing this thread was for was to advertise recruitment for a guild, and already people are flaming each other. Though, I want to say these flames were of healthy rivalry, but they\'re not. Guilds are constantly at each other\'s throats. It seems everyone is just looking for something that\'ll give them a reason to start a \"guild war.\" Then it goes on into whose the better person, and what really happened.. -sigh-...

Speaking of beer, if you go into a tavern would you be able to actually have your character sit down and drink beer. I mean, more importantly sitting down. The thing I dislike about MMORPGs (or RPGs in general) is that everyone is standing! They should have sitting, crouching, lying down.. and not only that, but like crying! Well, actually if there was crying it would probably get out of hand... haha I\'m just mumbling now

Hey there Serphet and welcome to the boards. Post a bunch because these boards really get boring you know? Hmmn... I don\'t think dwellers of existence would be a correct term though, because would existence be a place or a state? Haha, just kidding!

Jedi I just realized you were registered this month, and you already have 120 posts! At this rate you can overtake Kiern, lol.

You can chat with them directly there.

Hmn, a new guild starting up? I advise that you don\'t just ask/let anyone to join your guild. Firstly, build up a small ring of prominent, charismatic members and then select people to join your guild. Invitation only guilds are the smallest, but usually the most elite.

Ah, this is exactly what I chose not to join any guilds when I came back. Obviously, some certain persons in or not in guilds totally lack maturity and are just trying to get the guilds to go at each other. Perhaps the ones spamming up the boards claiming to be COL are actually different guilds trying to make COL conflict with other guilds. For what purposes? I don\'t know, but I think the whole situation is very childish.

Name: Jigoku
Population: Ylian majority
Major Industries: Weapon Smithing (Katanas,Shurikens,Halbard, Samurai Armor?), Rice Production, Tourism(It is different from the other cities), Trade

Description: Upon entry to the city, one can noticed firstly a large walkway that lead to the city\'s grand castle. The streets bustle with Ylian men and women carrying weapons, foods, charms, and crystals. The buildings are raised high and enclose small, bustling crowded streets. Interested in these streets and one enters them, people rush by busily some offering items for trade as they pass by. Many signs filled with odd oriental symbols add to the confusion, advertising to the people who could actually read them. The sound of a gong is heard in the background and the distant chants of temple monks can be heard. One decides to walk out back into the main road once more. A small spin is given to take in the breathtaking scenery of this massive, crowded city. A low mist hangs upon the ground. And to the sky? A bright red, matching the red of the oriental stylized roof tops. Statues of dragons and tigers seem to leap from the roof tops, protecting the inhabitants from the dangers of infertility and debt. A short man offers to sell you an odd set of armor, and you are about to buy it when suddenly, you catch sight of a woman playing an odd instrument (shamisen, one string guitar) while dancing down the street. She captures the beauty of the city, the great stone dragons, the beautiful music, and the bustling joy of such a city!

City Design: Obviously Asian, old Asian style. Huge temples, stone streets. Rice paper doorways, stone dragons upon roof tops.

Notes: Of course everything I said wouldn\'t be at all efficent, the massive number of NPCs I mentioned could never be implemented! But it would be nice to have a break from medieval cities, dwarfish, elvish etc. and have an oriental city!

I\'ve been unbanned: Thanks Washi and Kiern. Well, I don\'t really know why you get banned when you walk in there but there appears to be some bot in there that makes the server think you are spamming.

General Discussion / Banned from IRC
« on: July 23, 2003, 12:12:06 am »
Agh, this is so stupid. I got banned from the PlaneShift IRC chat because Kiern and Link were talking about how Alucard got banned because of the gline-me room or whatever, and without a thought I joined that room, and lo and behold I get a suspected spammmer message and banned! Ah, I guess it\'s ok since it was a dumb mistake of mine.. -sigh-.
