This way you are only a god in the sense that you are prayed to for help and it doesn,t matter what level you are.

Sounds like petitions for GMs to interfere. Kind of harsh and unfair, in my opinion. Why not summon your guild army and gang up on whoever it was that you want to get rid of so badly? At least that\'s already possible :)

Is that not a good thing? That is pretty much reflected in our everyday lives. All the we need to do is to have characters with heads for business. (But avoid making your character rich this way though it has close to zero business instinct!!??)

And the reason for implementation? Won\'t it make things rather confusing? Especially for new players?

Ragnarok Online has Bard as a job too, but I don\'t think that using similar ideas would be unattractive. In fact, it would make Planeshift more \"complete\", as bards and musicians have been around for quite some time.

The addition of \"neutral\" songs and music should help out in providing atmosphere for RP. E.g. A song of victory after the battle.

There\'s the option of not having background music in taverns and such, as to encourage music making. Of course, a cacophony of musicians would be annoying :)

Sort of.

1) Music can be played on self, other players and monsters. (Hope that they don\'t heal monsters, though.)

2) Music can be played anywhere, even in tavern. Thus if some evil bard plays soothing music to make all players asleep while another accomplice picks their pocket...

3) Music can be augmented with singing and dancing, if and when those are implemented.

4) Allow choice of skill in music rather than relying on magic.

5) Difference in the fact that music usually does not deal direct damage on target.

6) Sound made by casting magic could perhaps be adapted to music making, hence music while skill is used.

7) Instead of flashy magic effects, we could have musical notes flying around or something like that.

8 ) As I mentioned earlier, perhaps these could affect those resistant/immune to magic. (e.g. Kran?)

9) There could also be neutral music, but still require stamina to use. Since you get tired after blowing on the flute, etc.

10) These scores could be added on by programmers, with submission from the players.

11) Musical instruments-based music may be implemented, hence proper equips are necessary.

Just a few suggestions, not all are original since some had been suggested in the \"singing section\".

Maybe making music like spells? With success rate tied to skill level and certain stats (e.g. agility, will and charisma)? Then music notes can be obtained through quests or some can be bought in forms of \"scores\".  And use of instruments may allow certain success or enhance the effects.

May be useful since we have creatures that do not respond well to magic, maybe they could be influenced by music instead.

Music can help out like certain spells, e.g.
-music can be uplifting and restore stamina
-chaotic mussic to cause confusion
-soothing music to cause sleepiness
etc

Edit: Read the search results for bard and music. Looks like rather similar for singing and music making.

Edit: Additional point.

In compromise, when a character is making music, when the music continues, he/she would not be able to attack, run away fast or to use items. (Can\'t reach for the apple when both hands are playing the lute...) Whether the music can be interrupted is another point of debate.

Music skills... reminds me of bards. In another game, where one can RP as a bard, music skills can be trained too. But the training infuriates people as they are considered disturbing, much like the kids next door starting to learn the trombone or violin...

I know how it feels as a weak character. My magic oriented character could hardly survive facing 2 rats in a row. Thus here\'s the deal. Firstly, be patient in asking for quests. Don\'t save up the money for magic spells so soon, but buy some equip to enable you to collect money and progression points faster.

Work on your character patiently and you will get strong enough to start working on spells. Even then, the spells need to be strengthened and will take time. But what\'s the hurry? Interact with others! If you\'re a healer, consider partying with others who needs your support, etc.

Talking about stats, I am wondering if there\'s a glitch somewhere with damage calculation. How does an Enki with 75 strength cause more damage (average 2.9 per blow) on a rat than a Kran with 125 strength (average 2.8 per blow)? All melee only, with starting strength stat... I\'m kind of confused.

No weapons, same melee skill (0), but different strength. (Agility and endurance is also different of course.)

I thought for those instances you could type /die to \"die\" in Death Realm?

The problems when the players can make their own advanced weapons is that they would tend to overcharge, since the materials needed would be hard to get, the chances of successfully making the items would be slim, the skills are hard to level up, etc... Not to mention the demand would be greater due to the fact that not everyone wants to make one, since buying saves them the effort and such.

The economy in PS might be affected badly when crafting runs out of control. Time to have a tight control by the craftsmen guild.

How about Ojaveda then? There are no guards there at the moment... And at night? Is there sanctuary within the walls? Should there be roaming rogues in the city or towns at night? What do you think?

Ah. I see. Discarding the outstanding quest made it ok for the other quest. So there is a conflict after all. Will revisit the NPCs again for future redo of the quests. Thanks!

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / quest bugs?
« on: March 03, 2006, 12:50:09 pm »
I suppose the \"investigate carpet\" quest is not finished? Anyway,, there are 2 other quests that I had issues with. Seem to have conflicts.

1. The Mug Quest had trouble to be completed if you take up the Warehouse clearance before having the mugs. (It said the stuff is not neededd, after you hand them over.)

2. The same phrase that enabled one character to buy falka had become ineffective with another character (different personality, of course). The quest was the last in the list of uncompleted quests. Could this be a problem? Oh, this character also had an unsolved quest from the NPC in question. I have not tried discarding the outstanding quest and repeat the falka line.

Therefore, I wonder if there\'s a conflict when you approach with the same NPC with different quests...

Just curious...
1) If you discard a quest, can you try it out again some other time?
2) If you complete a quest, can you be given the same quest again?

I haven\'t seen spears, pikes or anything that has a far reach in the game... How about thrown spears? Any possibilty in the game to have them?
