The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: More Faces Behind the Players
« on: December 22, 2015, 08:22:45 am »
Yes!!! This thread's back! I've been dying to post a picture forever but didn't want to necro the thread. Now that's alive again, time to unmask the mysterious creature behind Demagul. The angle makes me looks so short, but it's still one of my favorite pics! But for the record, I'm actually quite tall (6'1")

I love these ideas! When I get back I'm sure Demagul would be happy to help with the public herbal workshops  :D

From the start I was planning on staying out of this discussion, but I feel like Garris brings up a good point that I want to discuss.

Point: "nobody tells me how you all roll"
Riposte: We've told you hundreds, if not thousands of times. Many of us, personally. From the very -moment- you stepped into this game, we've taken the time to gently walk you through what we're doing. Don't use that excuse with me to justify why you keep asking. You've been told. You either like it or you don't, or you're trying to manipulate us somehow, which just makes me even angrier. Perhaps it's ok to just admit that you don't WANT to play the way we do.

Kaerli, whenever we try to explain how things work, you just demand to know why things are the way they are and then argue any reasoning that you don't agree with, or as you told me, you're "asking me to defend my point". There's no defense to make except for the fact that this is what the majority of PS wants from the game and it's really annoying for a single player to run around trying to morph PS into their own personal interests. You can attempt to dissect other people's ideas and wishes as much as you want for all those technical, irrelevant details, but no matter what you find chances are you won't be changing anything. In fact you'll probably just cause people to avoid talking to you.

Wish list / Re: Reevaluating Place-holding Models
« on: September 28, 2015, 06:52:10 am »
A better solution would be to make models for those.

Since PS lacks 3D artists at the time, it would be difficult to get quality models for them in the near future. I think having really good models for those races would be worth waiting for, and in the meantime Ascomanni's idea would work as a great temporary solution.

Yes. I'm really glad that this thread got cleaned up. Things were getting ugly and  :offtopic: :offtopic: :offtopic:

Thank you, Lilura!

With that said...

One of my favorite things about PS is how reachable the GMs are when you need something, be it help setting up an event, some extra things to make an RP that much more immersive, or just help. We have so many ways to get that help when we need it, unlike some games where the people in charge just sit around and act all stoic and "too good for us lowly players". I guess events are just a matter of taste. Some people like GM events, others don't, and that's perfectly okay. I, personally, find them really fun, as it adds cool new IC experiences for my character(s).

I'd like to add that, while totally improvised "let's see where this goes" RPs can't be replaced by structured GM events, some players aren't as comfortable with their RP skills as others. I remember little newbie me was terrified of stuff like that because I was afraid of screwing things up somehow. Sometimes it's through structured, simple, short GM events that players can become comfortable with RPing and the rest of the community.

Good news, my friends! It's official that I'll be getting a laptop on Tuesday, a week from today! I honestly have no idea how I survived this long without Planeshift, but I'm at the final stretch of the pain! I can't wait to see you all IG!  :D

General Discussion / Re: RCD

Currently, with the default status for the RCD being closed, any time one of these "mini-events" is hosted there it almost always has to be quite controlled in a way. Like when it's open, it's only open for a very specific purpose. I like the idea of having it open by default, but can be closed up when necessary for redecorating. That way these "mini-events" will come naturally and spontaneously. Of course, prior planning would be nice so people actually know about them, but with it open, who knows what RP could arise!

« on: August 28, 2015, 10:19:37 am »
Fifthed! When I was a newbie I thought that it was never unlocked...

Tavern RP is really easy for newbies to get involved in because it doesn't have to involve a deep understanding of lore or anything, and a player-run tavern makes it even better because you have to go order the drink and interact with the bartender and stuff.

Guilds Forum / Re: Rogues Rebooted
« on: August 25, 2015, 06:12:26 pm »
There,s a level of evul somewhere between petty crime and maniacal necromancers likewise missing from rp, and that is political corruption and conspiracy, or corruption in other institutional powers. I guess the quests give a hint of such flavor in the world, but since PCs can not rise to any such level of authority, there are really no means for players to run such plots. I tried to do something in this vein through a forum rp, but it petered out :/
I think it'd be cool to pull off. Maybe I've been watching too much x-files.

Totally agree! It would be so cool to see all the shades of grey between a total angel character and the most wicked creature you can think of. The diversity of the characters is one of the driving forces in making PS interesting to RPers, so some things in place to encourage it (guilds like this, for example) could make a big difference :D
