Its thursday....Ale for Tales....
* Anumesa misses Jaycol  :-\

"A crafty Kran he owned a shop
created swords and knives, the lot
He slaved over burning heat
Lightly tapping metal sheets"

"He never spoke 'cept in a deal
His prices were a total steal
Because he loved to shape and ply
Swords so fine, they'd make you cry"

"He cared not a bit for nicer things
Not fancy clothes nor diamond rings
And no one could quite fancy why
Not a lady could catch his eye"

"Should someone try to tease and flirt
He would smile and return to work
He had a love above the rest
At which the world could only guess"

* Jaycol pops out of the void of blue death. He quivers as the chills still race through his body. He looks down at his mug of stale ale, picks it up and drinks it anyway. Hmmmm? "That was strange." He exclaims.

      A girl with big swords

"I met a girl elf with big swords,
who was smitin' down rogue's by the score,
         I soon followed suite,
an' we shared in the loot,
An' we killed them until we was bored."

       "Shapphires gleamed on her hilts,
as I looked at her legs fine as silk,
         her fair face was dashing,
         as her claymore's were slashing,
an' she smiled right after each kill."

"Then so came the end of the day,
we parted and went our own way,
         she wiggled while strollin',
         as I watched her goin'
an' wished I had asked her to stay."

[Sorry for the absence. My system had a meltdown, stiill working on it.]

Jaycol raises his empty mug up the Eagle gobble sitting on the rock by the river. "Well, I be off now ta Oja ta get me's a chaser."

"I once heard an Ulber Grrrr!,
I looked up an' saw nothin' but fur,
        large teeth in his maw,
        an' very long claws,
his presence it caused quite a stir."

"I met him on up at the mine,
he chased me around for a time,
an' just when I had 'im,
        his brother did join 'im,
an' cut short this good tale of mine."

"Hahahahaaha!" Jaycol laughs as he sets about his way.

       * Jaycol yells out to Brado. " Fill me up ye old Wratrat, an' clean that green stuff from me mug if ye would." He chugs down a mug of ale, and orders another. After taken a sip he begins singing a tavern song.

       Buy me an Ale

       "Oh! buy me an ale,
an' I'll tell ye a tale,
a couple, would make it less hard."

       "It'll lossen me tongue,
an' we'll all have some fun,
So, put up some trias on the bar."

"Oh! let the stories be told,
         about now, and old,
I'll try ta give ye me best."

       "So, fill up me mug,
        let's drink down some suds,
we'll just make up the rest."

       "Oh! buy me an ale,
an' I'll tell ye a tale,
a couple would make it less hard."

      "It'll loosen me tongue,
an' we'll all have some fun,
So, put up some trias on the bar."

"It be a fine price ta pay,
at the end of the day,
when ye thinkin', that life is a wretch."

       "So, don't mind the slurrs,
         between all the words,
         they'll, not make any sence."

       "Oh! buy me an ale,
an' I'll tell ye a tale,
a couple would make it less hard."

       "It'll loosen me tongue,
an' we'll all have some fun,
So, put up some trias on the bar."

*Jaycol finishes his ale and orders another. Brado frowns and taps the bar, "They will not be free from me, no matter how many times you sing to yourself."

*[working on it, may be awhile yet]

*Anumesa apologizes to Brado and pays for Jaycol's several ales*

Heres a story for ya
Once upon a time there was a Xacha...and she was probably the ugliest creature to ever walk the face of Yliakum. Now when i say ugly, i dont just mean that she was unnattactive, i mean that she was HIDEOUS, a nasty creature incapable of looking halfway decent even if she stood behind the prettiest person in Hydlaa. Of course you can probaby gather from this that she was a tad lonely....seeing as no one could stand to be around her for more than a few seconds. Even her parents made her wear a bag over her head when she sat at the dinner table (who knows how she managed to eat her food...). So anyways this Xacha, lets call her X, was a loner, always keeping to herself and rarely making any friends. Well X's favorite hobbie was flower arranging, she would create the most beautiful combinations of flowers, and was wildly popular as a designer for weddings....of course her clients only delt with her parents because they couldnt actually stand having business dealings with X. So one day, X was arranging a a particularly tricky design, when she heard a knock on the door. Well she immediately called for her parents to answer it...not wanting to scare the visitor away...but for some reason they were nowhere to be found. So X hesitantly walked to the door and cracked it open to see who was there. At first X didnt see anyone, she looked left and right and was about to close the door when she heart a "ahemm" from somewhere about her knees. She looked down at a tiny ancient dwarf, his face so lined and wrinkled it resembled a piece of dough that someone had beaten a few too many times. X cautiously opened the door to let in this tiny stranger, and immediately reached for her bag to put over her head. The dwarf cackled loudly "no need for that m'dear, these old eyes have seen far worse"...and X, slightly shocked, put the bag down.

The dwarf pulled a flask from one of his many pockets, and after offereing to X (who politely refused) he took a long sip and put it away with a sigh of satisfaction. X politely waited for him to explain himself, though he repulsed her even more every second.

* Anumesa stops talking and frowns...
"I cant believe it but i've forgotten the rest!!...Jaycol, care to finish?"

 * "Hahahahaha!"  Jaycol roars with laughter. " Nice."  He places a handful of circles on the bar. " Line'em up Brado, this may require some thought potions." He says laughing again.
 :@#\

Xacha waited, but still he offered no response. he just stood there rocking back and forth upon the balls of his feet. He would pause only long enough to take another sip  from his flask. She felt that she should ask him of his business. But, was affraid that he might notice her ugliness. Fearing he may have overlooked her, being that he was so old that his eyesight might be failing. The last thing she wanted to do was to frighten him off. He may have some important business with her father, or maybe another commission for her.
She shrugged and went back to her work. She needed to finish this arrangement soon if she wanted her full commmission for it. So consentrating on the task at hand, she tried very hard to ignor the repulsive dwarf as he stood there rocking, making the floorboards creak.  Just as she thought that she could take no more, he stopped.
Taking out his flask yet again, but this time indulging in a drink. She shivered as the fluid trickled down from the corners of his mouth. He finished with a load belch. replacing the cap and returning the flask to his pocket. Then he wiped his face on his shirt sleeve. Her face twised in agony as she looked upon him, and he just stood there staring at her.
Feeling the need again to ask him of his business, she cleared her throat. As she finally found the courage to address him, he reached into one of the other pockets of his coat producing a faded pipeflute. Worn in use, as his face was with age. Puzzled she leaned back into her chair. she watched as he blow across the ends of the pipes clearing them of debris. After a gentle tap of his fingertips he finally placed it to his lips. A long soft note filled the air. Xacha was taken aback at the sound so sweet, like a warm carressing breeze. It was followed by a slow relaxing melody. A smile crossed her face at the beauty of the sound that now filled the room.

  * Hmmmmm? Anumesa it seems I don't recall this story as much as I thought. Maybe ye could pick it up from there for me? Jaycol asks, nugging Anumesa with his elbow.

Proglin steps into Kada-el's and looks arround. The place is filled with laughter and people are chatting away happily. He scratches the back of his head and grabs a piece of parchment out of his inner pocket. After a few of his favourite "Mountain Range Dwarven Ale" he starts his sad little tale.

My wife, anyone seen her here?
It's been a while, since I've seen my dear
My wife, anyone seen her about?
I wonder where she hangs out.

My wife, tell her I'm looking
Gah, really do miss her cooking
My wife, tell her I miss her a bit
I miss her right now, right where I sit.

My wife... will this really take long?
Cause 2 more verses, and done is this song
my wife, you better dash back
cause i'm this close not to cut you some slack

my wife, speed up, come back fast
1 more verse and  it'll be the last
My wife, come back to me
Getting upset now, as upset as can be

My wife, bloody hell
this song is done as far I can tell
My wife, 5 more seconds to get in my bed
Otherwise it's off with your head.

yours, the entertainer

* Anumesa desperately tries not to laugh at Proglin...but does anyways ;)

Alright Jaycol..here goes...

So the Xacha was hypnotized by the beautiful music coming from the tiny repulsive dwarf....after about 10 minutes she realized that she was no longer looking at a dwarf, but the most handsome man she had ever seen. She immediately swooped the bag back over her head with shame and attempted to leave the room..she was stopped by the handsome man who gently pulled the bag from her head and led her to a mirror. X was shocked at the face she was seeing..it did not being to her...but it DID!!! She looked at the handsome man, completely lost for words and he grinned "I had a spell set on me long ago, so that i would appear repulsive to everyone...Not until i could find someone who would tolerate me for more then 10 minutes would it be broken"..X was confused...what kind of spell was that anyways and why had it changed her as well?? But she didnt care because the handsome man was so handsome and she kept noticing the way his eyes twinkled when he smiled.....

Anyways long story short they lived happily ever after. THE END.

hehehe Jaycol i TOLD you i forgot the rest..... :P

         Lost at Sea

        "I listened to your voice,
every word that you were speaking,
         it's melody was soothing,
         your voice so gentle, sweeping."

       "As I listened,
         I wondered,
         what draws me so,
to be drowned in the depth's of your being."

        "Like the myths of Sirens,
         drawn over the edge,
never to return to my world,
         lost at sea."

"My soul devoured by the hunger,
         that is your desire,
         I throw myself without remorse,
         into your awaiting arms."

        "No terror will you see
         within my wanting eyes,
for, I will not feel harmed,
         your love is my demise."

Jaycol orders an ale and chugs it down, then he orders another that he sips abit. He leans against the bar and begins to sing a drinking song.

        Cheers,Cheers

       "Cheers,Cheers,
        Bring us more ale,
        Our spirits be high,
        an' merry as hell."

       "Cheers, Cheers,
        Bring us more beer,
        we'll tip pretty good,
since, our heads are not clear."

       "Cheers, Cheers,
        bring us more wine,
        till we stagger and stumble,
an' fall one at a time."

       "Cheers, Cheers,
        bring another round,
        we'll drink till we drop,
        Ooops!  another one down."

       "Cheers, Cheers,
        bring one more to go,
        my friends are all out,
        I'll drink it alone."

"I wander and wonder
amid lightning and thunder
Where is the reason
What does it hide under?"

"So i wait and i whine
just to pass by the time
and compose a brand new
nonsensical rhyme"

"A who and a witch
a scratch and an itch
went for a walk
alone in a ditch"

"Oh they stank and they stunk
all the dreary and drunk
all those 'cept the passive
admirable monk"

"So close up and cry
and dont ask me why
This poem is done
toodles and bye"

  As Jaycol was singing, a young woman walks into Kada-el's. She walks over towards him and listens as he finishes his tune. Jayclol greets her,  and offers her an ale. She excepts his offer. After a couple sips she places the mug on the bar and begins to sing;

      Here in my Heart

        "Here I am,
         wondering, where you are.
         I miss you so,
         when we're apart.
         I'm not alone.
         whenever, I picture you,
         So,I keep you here,
         here, in my heart."

        "Here in my Heart,
         we're still together.

        "Here in my heart,
         your here with me now."

         "I know that I'll,
          never feel lonely."

        "So, I keep you here,
         Here, in my heart."

        "I'm filled with joy,
         whenever I see you.
         When I hear your voice,
         I'm happy, it's true.
         And, when you go,
I don't want to miss you.
         So, I keep you here.
         Here, in my heart."

        "Here in my heart,
         We're still together."

        "Here in my heart,
         your here with me now."

        "I know that I'll,
         never feel lonely."

        "So, I keep you here.
          Here, in my heart."

After she is finished she leaves as suddenly as she came. Jaycol places his empty mug on the bar and looks around the quieted tavern.  He picks up her mug.  "I hates it when they never finish their beer." He replies as he finishes her beer and orders another round.

Jaycol recalls a ballad he has heard from his travels, and tells the tale to the company within the tavern.

      The Thousand Stood Firm

       The morning fog clears,
       an' the sunlight shined through,
       dancing across assembled spears,
       The thousand stood firm.

       Standing as one, strong, fearless,
In single motion they moved together,
       each one at his best.
       The thousand stood firm.

       In duty dedicated,
       one to the other,
       in arms they are mated.
       The thousand stood firm.

       On hilltop they stood,
       like pillars of cold stone,
       still as they could.
       The thousand stood firm.

       As the great fog passed,
       coming clear on the plain,
       Ten thousand swords amassed.
       The thousand stood firm.

       Outnumbered in cause,
       A great battle comes,
       a day without pause.
       The thousand stood firm

From the mass came a roar,
a sound to chill the bones,
       hallowing to the core.
       The thousand stood firm.

       Another great cry,
       movement stirred from the plains,
       liquid to the eye.
       The thousand stood firm.

       With the dark hulk coming,
       a deep breath drawn,
       Heeding the Sergeant's warning.
       The thousand stood firm.

       Up the sloop they charged,
giving single face to the form,
       soon to be merged.
       The thousand stood firm.

       Shields raised a single wall,
       Spears dropping in unison.
       making the lead edges fall.
       The thousand stood firm.

       as the numbers piled high,
       Death smiled in glee,
       many more yet to die.
       The thousand stood firm.

       Long through the day,
       flesh met tempered steel,
       a true warrior's way
       The thousand stood firm.

       Swords sheared through armor,
       through flesh and through bone,
Till the body bleeds no more.
       The thousand stood firm.

       For each one that fell,
       another moved forth,
       keeping the ranks filled.
       The thousand stood firm.

       In long grueling battle,
       many hearts wane,
       and fall short of mettle.
       The thousand stood firm.

       The mass falls apart,
       leaderless and defeated,
       It lacks in true heart.
       The thousand stood firm.

The plains clear of the living,
       leaving as dusk approaches,
       lost in their misgivings.
       The thousand stood firm.

       Spears are laid aside,
       beaten swords sheathed,
       they count those alive.
       The thousand stood firm.

       The wounded are seen to,
       The dead are burned,
       they embrace those they know.
       the thousand stood firm.

       long into the night,
       many dreams are troubled,
       recalling the fight.
       The Thousand stood firm.

       The season soon ends,
       the invasion has failed,
       in time they'll come again.
       The Thousand stood firm

Jaycol rubs his beard as he thinks of a tale for the stranger who had just bought him an ale. "Ah I remember one I heard once" he says. He turns to the stranger and begins to tell it.

      Across River's edge

      "Across the rivers edge,
       A small village sleeps.
There's a dock by the ledge,
       where the water's most deep.
       Rarely shipments come in,
       even less they go out.
       There are several small dinghies,
and only one boat that stout."

"The shadow's are dark in the night,
       enhanced by the moonless sky.
From the pier glows a single light,
lit to catch a traveler's eye.
       Gloomily, it casts it's rays,
against the fog of early morning.
       Seeming to dance and sway,
       to the mist's constant swirling."

"From the deep quiet is heard,
A call from a night fowl.
       Not much else disturbs,
       the silence of the hour.
       The water will splash,
as it moves against the shore.
       Even that doesn't last,
       in the night's silent core."

      "Soon will come the day,
       and the quiet night gone.
As the sun makes it's way,
       awakening the dawn.
       The many fowl will sing,
for the day, each it's own song.
And many more sounds shall ring,
       as the day moves along."
