General Discussion / Re: Losing players?

To be honest I've never been a fan of the tutorial being mandatory for every new character. It never even existed when I started and ever since It's implementation I was always wary of making new characters. I started again yesterday after a few years away from PS and was thrown into the tutorial. Luckily I've played before, so I just constantly clicked through endless nonsense that these NPC's throw at you, even doing this shortcut took me 15 minutes to break out of this annoying feature. Their was two of us in this area and I had to explain to the other person what it was, and told him to read what the NPC's were saying so he could learn the basics of the game. He PM'ed me after finally making it past this nonsense (1 hour later I may add) explaining that he learned a thing or two there but nothing he couldn't of learned after 1 hour of being in the actual game. He still seemed frustrated after making it through and needless to say he logged off shortly after.

I could go into detail but I won't. The fact is I PERSONALLY feel this tutorial drives many people away from the game before they even make it through to the game. I was suprised to see it still even existed. I'd love to see some numbers on how many players quit the game before getting past this feature.

I understand It's value of keeping "wtf is this game and wtf do i do" away fro Hydlaa. But It's implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Thankfully wwhen I started in 2006 it didn't exist, or I know for a fact I wouldn;t of made it past the tutorial. Thankfully the first person I met ingame was Farren Kutter who learned me the basics. This scripted tutorial is nonsense.

Also I'd like to give some constructive criticism about the default chat system. Having two chat systems is very confusing to new players, as the one you start with is very limited and doesn't allow you to see or speak in the /1 channel.

I don't remember my first RP, it was over six years ago now. I only remember being terrible at it. I've RP'ed with a lot of people off this forum but the person I remember most is Donari Tyndale. I learned a lot from Donari and I always enjoyed the auctions we would hold all around the map.

Quick hello to anyone who remembers me.  :) Back to silently lurking in the shadows.

It was always a pleasure to RP with The Outlaws, good to see you're still around Elvi.

You don't like how Ojaveda looks?  :'(

Never heard of the other town but haven't played for 2 years, downloading now.  :whistling:

To keep on topic, coolest looking race is Dwarves hands down.

Was going through my Photobucket today and found some old screenshots I didn't know I had. Brings back some nice memories from the game.

You still have to face your opponent, but there are also a lot of new weapons.  They've also opened up new levels to train to.  They've also done things to the magic system to make it competitive in duels at high levels.  By competitive, I mean lethal.

Sounds promising, but being that I'm starting from fresh I don't think I'll be training. If I were to play for training and gold I'd rejoin the Korean MMO I came back from. RP all the way.  :)

I doubt many here will remember me, I played Planeshift for over 2 years through the Crystal Blue era under names such as Gharan, Gharin and Vigel. I left PS now over two years ago and haven't even checked to see how PS has evolved. Is the PvP still as awful as when they changed it and you had to face opponent? Any new towns added? Any more history added behind the Planeshift story that I should be aware of before RP'ing? How's the crafting coming along?

I'm back to try out PS once again, I've just installed and will be playing again regular once I'm off my holidays in two weeks. It's been 2 years and my RP is going to be rusty, but it was never that good in the first place. Let's see if I can do better this time. I'm hoping this game still 99% revolves around the RP, It's what kept me here so long.

Good to be back  :)

You might have reached a dead end, the proper page 4 is a bug with 3 numbers. For page 2 highlighting the page might not be a bad thing.  ;)

Each puzzle is different. A hint to the first one is look at the writing behind the mask guy on the picture, what language is it?

These puzzles are extremely difficult.
