Fan Art / Re: PS Webcomic!
« on: December 10, 2008, 03:26:32 am »
Whoa! If you’re shocked to see that you missed this topic, start from the top! Here’s the link, courtesy of UtM’s NoClick.â„¢

This is probably going to be a long disclaimer. I’m sorry. I’m surprised that I got one out in the end of September before my absence. I’m extremely busy in the fall, as I mentioned. So much so that if I need to go to the restroom, I need to reschedule some appointments. No, I’m just kidding, although that did happen once in November. I’m sure no one here wants specifics, since all of you are equally, if not more, busy than I.
But you don’t want to hear that. You want to know about the comic. Here is its foreword:

“This section is very useful to me because it is refamiliarizing me with the story, the style, and the art. I have been working on things besides the current strip, so you can expect some new art and style in the next arc.

This current arc, in case I have been unclear: Eldemar has been asked, by a tavern wench, to tell some of his adventures, so that she can rp being a wench better. But, it turns out that Eldemar has been busy during the adventures the guild has been having, and has his own personal interpretation of how these events have occurred. This is a foray into Eldemar's... vivid imagination. He is quite delusional, and believes that he is the center of these adventures, rather than Toox. This is his tale. These alternate tales will occur sporadically, as a different perspective on the guild's activities. You can also expect tales by some of the minor characters, other guilds, and other sources. Also, if the real Eldemar is out there, this one's for you, buddy! Good luck with your new guild! And stop getting banned! Sheesh!

Attention!!! Reread some of the older arcs! This tale is based on them, from what the dwarf has seen! Half of arcs 1, 4, and 5 are gone because Eldemar wasn't there, and since Eldemar is trying to woo the tavern girl with his bravery, some of his failures won't be mentioned.“

----

I wrote that before I started. I was expecting this to be 40, maybe 50 strips. It evolved into the 150’s, 170’s if you count the repeated strips. I have been reworking the art, especially of characters and races, although Ballser is the only updated character in ‘Eldemar’s Tale.’ There will be new ways for me to combat the strangely stiff movement of the previous strips.  Yes, this one is all about Eldemar. It helps to know him in-game. I took some of the things he said from my log and his description to make this arc. If you don't know him, you'll live, however.

So, yeah, that's all I have to say. You should remind yourselves of the older gags for their revival. I have abused them, but am now in full rememberance of the story, and have planned all the way to arc 27. Heh, there's some ways to go.

Hopefully Eliseth will show up soon. We need some talent here.  :P

My personal opinion: I stuffed too many gags into too few strips. Heh, like 154 is too few. But it feels crowded and busy when i reread it. But that's me. I'm biased. And lazy.

This is Eliseth's Episode 10. I know you skipped the whole disclaimer to click it. Episode 10

;D I had to try that prank to see if anyone would fall for it. Just click this one. This one goes to my page. Courtesy of UtM's NoClick.â„¢

Wish list / Re: need huge capacity storage
« on: December 04, 2008, 01:37:08 am »
How about a magical sack? It has near infinite capacity, but it weighs the sum of everything that's in it

Ok, I realize the idea behind this is to avoid having tiny sacks that contain 20 claymores, and it works well on that level.

 ;)

I agree with Gravemind's idea. The storage closets should have more capacity. You should write a report on the bugtracker, Gravemind.  :P Wouldn't recommend leaving the front door unlocked, though.

I think, as it has been said, that this camp is dangerous, and I like the idea of concerned citizans 'raiding' the camp to wipe out rouges. However, I would appreciate it if people didn't constantly PvP and harrass others in the camp. That said, I need to make a visit to the camp sometime. It's something I haven't done yet.  :-[

Wish list / Re: Deleted Quests and keeping GM's from having to reset

I understand what you mean, and why you are frusterated. However, the solution you mentioned is prone to a lot of abuse. Say you do a quest, and in the middle of it you get a large amount of trias for whatever reason. Anyone could delete the quest, and replay it up to that point and get the trias again.

There is a problem. Hopefully we can come up with a better solution though.

Edig, you made a lot of good points. I have one to add to your list. It is an extension of #5, but I suppose it can be counted as its own.

#7.
Everyone, when asked a question, should be able to respond in a manner that their character would. Powerleveler, roleplayer, anyone. Even the most anti-roleplaying, only chatting in guild chat person should be able to spout off a line or two that stays within settings. Sometimes an 'I don't know' would be plenty, or a '/me seems very focused in his mining, and did not appear to hear' would be plenty.

I really do support your #2, Edig. People can be very abusive and disruptive in their roleplay. Within a circle of friends, or on a specific roleplay, they can be abusive, but being disruptive anywhere isn't ok.

I think I could come up with some more examples of what rp isn't, but I can't at this moment.

Advisors can see who is advising, and I'm pretty sure there is a /whoadvisor function for advisors. If you are an advisor, and you see someone doing a bad job, or unable to answer something, you can /tell them how to better serve.

Setting aup an IRC would be a lot of work, and I doubt many advisors would join it, and if they did they wouldn't be very active on it.

Everytime Laanx smites someone, it makes my day.

The flashing message that Laanx smote someone is great. Laanx should be able to smite everything Laanx wants.

Oh, and snorks.

Hey... Okay, I need really detailed descriptions and art/sketches of the gods. I just need to know what they look like, what their personalities are like, and if anyone has an official history of them that makes sense, please post it. Don't ask why, but it's important. Thanks.

The Hadron Machine broke down. Oops. The world is spared for a few more months.

I guess some government's spy agency found out what the swiss are really up to and sabotaged it.

I loved this one! It was brilliant, and the transition was amazing!

Don't ever stop. They are great. They are posted coincidentally on the same days that aren't going well for me, and make my day much better.

If you ever find that button and push it, we won't be able to enjoy your comic.  ;)

Done! Due to typo corrections and line additions that were needed, it came out at 80.  ::|

I tried to keep it coherent even with all of the changes, although some stories were very spread out. I recomend reading the whole thing top to bottom, then focusing on some of the storylines individually. It just didn't look good with 4 individual stories, and didn't quite match the chaos that most of you know as Kada-El's, so I spread it apart.

Arc 8

Visual gags, recurring characters, not-so-subtle foreshadowing, and minor background details from in-game, along with everything else...

I'm working on number 9...

I'm working on it...

8, maybe 12 more strips. Making them takes a surprising amount longer than anticipated. When I had some time between activities, I used to sit and do nothing, and now I'll sit and bang out a strip or two in the 10 minutes I have. Right now my schedule is insane, so there isn't much time to spend on myself, a lament I'll bet most of you are saying right now. I'll have more free time starting in mid-November, and then I won't know what to do with myself.  :o

Thanks Waoknie, but there won't be anything in game, although a Toox might wander the plaza when I have a lot of time to work on the comic. The art, if anyone is wondering, is a collaboration of 4 or so comics that I read that use stickish figures, and the buildings, although some look silly, are from the remnants of a chapter in a geometry class I took 3 years ago. I'm working on making 3d drawings better, too.

The next one will have around 65 strips, I think, and will be organized similarly to the Hydlaa one. If I haven't done so by then, Sunday for sure. I've been looking forward to doing number 9, the one after this, and am going to try a few new things in it, but this current  one will be pretty standard.

-edit- Whoo! I finished! 78 strips... I'll put 'em up tommorrow, because it'll take some time to spread them out in a coherent way, and I'm going to bed. It might not even work if I mix the story lines up, so I'll see.
