Granted or negated Wishes / Re: Make Planeshift easier to play?
« on: December 10, 2010, 04:38:59 am »
Hmm... well, I'm pretty much a newbie (account created last weekend), although I did have an account a few years ago, but I never played it much, as I really didn't get hang of it. But now that I returned... it took me some hours to find the route to Ojaveda (which includes a glitch at the portal near river). I learned some mining to do the quest for the magician, and there the only problem was that the trainer I had to go to was in Ojaveda (found this out by asking), and not in Hydlaa, where my character started. The locations of sewers and Laanx dungeon I somewhat remembered, but I still get lost there (especially the sewers).

Training was a bit slow at first with rats (which can, at least in the tutorial, be killed even with bare hands, albeit that it takes a while), but I got a pleasant suprise when I attacked a Frost Arangma in the dungeon and was able to kill it with magic (and get 10 PP for it). Then again, I would never have been able to kill it with weapons, but... *shrugs* dunno. You also get a free pickaxe from the tutorial... why buy one?

All in all, I don't really know the point of this answer. To serve as newbies point of view, perhaps? I don't really think it's that difficult to start as a newbie, but it certainly asks for patience. :)

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Have you ever? (game)

Hit the wrong person? Most certainly, while fighting my little brother. I really shouldn't have hit him, since I know he can hit back a lot harder than I'd ever be able to, plus I'm better at strangling him anyways. (A good brother-sister relationship, isn't it?)

Have you ever climbed into a tree?

LigH: I know, it's just that if I RP on forums, an average reply is slightly above 150 words, most of it being description. However, that certainly wouldn't work while roleplaying in PS. :) And I didn't really make my choices based on what skills or stats I wanted, but more on what sounded interesting character-wise. After I'm done making a description for my character, I'll most likely start working on skills that the description says she has/wants to have.

Koios: That makes sense. :) So... since my characters parents were an animal trainer and a healer, they would both have had some kind of a reason for being there. With all those monsters around, there would have been more than enough material to be tamed, and people would very likely have been injured by the said beasts too. Yeee-es... Thanks. ;)

I've been a forum roleplayer on Finnish forum RP sites since 2005. ;) PlaneShift will be somewhat interesting, since a) it's in English and b) it's basically chat-based, so less time to think of your reply and the reply will be shorter and with less describing. Shouldn't be impossible, though.

And character creation choises are only one possibility for her background, although I believe it would make an interesting one. :) I'll have to see what comes of it.

Hiya! I've recently joined Planeshift, and would like to ask some questions about the game world to be able to make a proper RP character. (Well, technically I had an account some years ago, but I left since I didn't really get hang of the game too well. Last weekend I decided to download the game again and start anew with a new character.)

1) During character creation I chose that my character had lived in a Stone Labyrinths outpost during her childhood/youth. Exactly what kind of a place would an outpost in the Stone Labyrinths be?

2) How far in the labyrinths would the outpost most likely be?

3) Would there be any "normal" people living a daily life in the outpost?

If anyone could help me by answering these questions, I'd be grateful. :)

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Re: Game not starting

More or less. I tried the game some years ago but left, since I didn't really manage to get hang of things in there. I've been thinking of redownloading, but haven't really got to it until now. Maybe I'll do better this time. ;)

It's really a silly PS rule to try make the game more immersed.

I wouldn't say that... it makes me a bit annoyed if a game has 70 Hermione Grangers, Legolases and Aragorns running around the place. :)

5) Done and same as in the quote in my last post. EDIT: Huh, did it second time and again, it flashed open and closed, but this time a second cmd window appeared for a fraction of a second and it had a lot of text. But it vanished before I had time to do anything.

I made it start psclient.exe there, and again the black game screen opened for a second and shut. Didn't give any output, though.

C:\Program Files\PlaneShift>psclient.exe

C:\Program Files\PlaneShift>

That's all.

I installed the game and patched it, but when I click "Play", it just opens the black game screen for a second, then it vanishes and it opens the launcher again.

I have reinstalled the game once, no difference. I'm using Windows Vista, I'm running the install program & launcher as admin and I can't think what could be the reason. I have the 32 bit version.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / No life events
« on: January 17, 2009, 09:37:29 am »
I was creating a character and all went well untill I got to the life events screen. It was empty. I can see the boxes where I guess the choises should be in, but there is no writing in them. And I can't continue because it says I haven't chosen any life events (obviously).

EDIT. I tried again a bit later and this time it worked. Sorry I bothered you.
