In-Game Roleplay Events / Re: Proglin's funeral.
« on: November 14, 2019, 02:38:04 pm »
Progwyn took the long trip once more. His mother now dead, it seems like the only right thing to do to bring her to Proglin and bring her to her old love.

No one’s here.

The landscape seems changed.

Progwyn sighs and carefuly places his mothers pendant in the burial well.

‘Orphaned and friendless, is there a meaning to any of this? Is this all part of Talad’s big plan? ‘

As young Progwyn wakes up from a restless sleep he wonders... Will he move to the lands where his parents made such a name for himself?

Meh stop it please?

I used to be a GM, and when I was we discussed turning off labels quite often. We even tested it at the time. When we did an event without coloured labels, no one joined. Even serious RP peeps did not react. There are loads of players that want to join in for some RP. People's greed will sometimes prevail and make people join in for just the rewards. I myself loved joining and hosting for the fun of it.

I think there's something to say for both sides, just that I tend to stick with those that experienced both sides. It is meant to be fun. If you do not like them, like Hanix said, then by all means don't join in and have fun elsewhere. But allow others their fun as well. It's impossible all 80 participants are in it for the awards. So in my humble oppinion, it would be best if the duscussion ends with a "live and let live" kinda quote.

I suggest a spell checker Proglin.

And here we have a perfect example. To comments like that we can easily reply "STFU N00B!"

And on a sidenote, I suggest you learn a foreign language :)

The Hydlaa Plaza / L33t lessons

Hello students, thank you for showing interest in our l33t lessons. AKA (also known as) 1337 l3550n5 (Elite lessons). Are you tired of being frowned upon? Tired of being a complete and utter n00b?(inexperienced online game player) Then this is the place for you. In a few simple lessons l33t Progz0rz will teach you all, how to unn00bif successfully, completely fr33 of charge to make the world a better place. Gradually, classes will get tougher and tougher, so try and keep up.

Be c00l. Be l33t. Be me.

Lesson #1

Let us start of with some basic words used in l33t sp33ch. The absolute must-haves for any none-n00b online player. Read them, pronounce them, invite a friend to help you out and more importantly, practice your l33t sp33ch with more experienced l33t players you know from one of 12 MMORPGS (Massive Megal33t Role Pretending Gynecologist Simulators) you play.

BRB (Big Red Ball) After spending a sensible amount of time at their computer, many users enjoy the simple joys of catch, or football.

ASL (A Slice of Lemon) As enjoyed by many users in, for instance, a gin and tonic.

HAXXOR (Hacksaw) A device used for cutting metals.

l33t (leat) An artificial water channel often leading to or from a mill.

LOL (Loll) To hang loose, or lounge around idly. Not recommended when partying mobs.

OMFG (Olives, Mayo, Feta, Garlic) A handy mnemonic for remembering the ingredients of a Greek salad.

STFU (Saint (st) Fu) The Patron Saint of Ninjas.

WTF (Went To France) Home of the baguette.

Some of you may play an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Completely different from an MMORPGS, but that will do as well. Study hard, tests will be send by mail. When you n00bs are ready, we will Continue to more advanced lessons.

General Discussion / Re: RP on your resumé
« on: February 06, 2008, 06:05:10 am »
Aye, I guess that in some cases your PS experiences might not help you get a job. But if you are a good Role-Player like many who posted in this thread are, you can always aim at "Did a lot of improvised creative writing".

I think it depends on how you bring it and how you can explain what you mean. I mean.. shouting "SHUT UP ALL OF YOU!" on IRC could be worded as "Adviced large community on general behaviour." And when you are a Sangwa or a Phinehas can't you just walk in and say "Give me the job, I used to run a Dark Empire"?

General Discussion / RP on your resumé
« on: February 05, 2008, 11:21:27 am »
Who would have guessed that Role-Play in PS can help you get a job? Well, if you told me you could a week or two ago, I would not have believed you. Virtual Reality is at a point where people actually replace real life by it, and even in Planeshift there are people spending more time in RP then in RL. As was I, a few months back. Gradually employers start realizing the power virtual reality can posses and the RL skills people get from that.

I applied for a job of Organiser and got hired. I'll be organising tournaments, just like good ol' Proglin used to do in Yliakum. My Resumé told about some relevant hobbies and whatnot, and a somewhat lengthy part about my experiences hosting events for an RP community. I explained how I used to organise tournaments online and managed a team of 20 players while keeping 100 more entertained. Also wrote down my experiences as a GM. Not 10 minutes later I recieved a reply from the company, asking more about that. They wanted to know what it was I did exactly so I explained and send them a website. Again, not 10 minutes later I was hired without as much as an interview. Naturally, my RP experiences weren't the one reason why I got hired. Most likely my love for sports and theatre weighed in as heavy, just that my brand shiny new employer believed that skills obtained in Virtual Reality are as good as those obtained in Real Life.

So... looking for a job? Do not hesitate to add "Ran a shop in Virtual Reality" to your resumé. You are likely to recieve questions about it, but it might just make the difference and show people you got a nack for organizing stuff as well as have insight in economy.

Heh, well I'm pretty sure they just look at the number of people registered on the forums and assume that they're all active.

Meh, I think it's a poor idea as a whole. Little original, settings-wise it's a mess. Masoj, you can do far better then this fo shizzle.
