General Discussion / Re: Release of .5 Direct Downloads

Quick help post to rule out some simple issues before we are spammed with "It doesn't work" posts.

You should always download the newest drivers for your Graphics Card. To find out what graphics card you have in your system is fairly simple.

On Windows you should Right click your Desktop, select Properties, a window should open with several Tabs across the top, the far right tab should be called "Settings". Click that Tab and then below the picture of a monitor it should say your Monitor name and a Graphics Adaptor. This will look something like "Plug and Play Monitor on nVidia 9800GT"

You should then go to the relevant site to look for your Drivers, these sites are listed at the bottom of the post. To install the drivers just double click the file that is downloaded, follow on screen prompts and then reboot your system as directed.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Recursive Acronym
« on: July 24, 2009, 07:46:48 am »
Can anyone come up with a recursive acronym for PlaneShift, something along the lines of GNU is Not Unix or Wine Is Not an Emulator? I look forward to some weird ones ;o)

Happy weltall-day

Open your Options menu (O) go to the graphics section and the Details section. Make sure that the view distance is not set to Zero. If it is, move the slider to the right.

Regardless of his weirdness, or possibly because of it, he was one of the greatest popular musical geniuses ever. I sincerely hope that all the people thinking they can make a buck out of his estate with lawsuits will have some dignity and reconsider.

Thriller is still the largest selling album of all time, and will likely continue to hold that title forever due to the changes in the recording industry. A sad loss to anyone who has an appreciation of music beyond their own specific tastes.

You can of course keep your game content, the maps, sounds, settings etc. proprietary just as Atomic Blue do with PlaneShift. But pretty much you are correct, you can make a game with the PS code.

Please try downloading and running http://www.planeshift.caarrie.org/Fix%20PS.zip and applying the fix for Texture Compression.

For the future, please give us your system stats, OS version, and use the Mac OSX section for issues like this. Thanks ;o)

Take a look at that thread, we have a newer Female Dwarf model that has the animations I think.

Like weltall said, it is likely a driver issue. Can you give system stats and OS please. Also, what driver version is your graphics adaptor using.

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Trying to run planeshift on a new mac

That probably won't help, the problems listed are not as "SEVERE" as the log would imply. The error is not fatal. Please can you give us your system stats.

PlaneShift uses UDP so opening your TCP ports will not help. You need bidirectional UDP port open.
