Not bad, not bad :)
I wonder if that's really a small lake, or it's because of the rain.
Pretty cool anyway!  :woot:

i dunno, but having an actual lake/river/beach out there would be really cool... without the "you drowned and died" msg.  ;D

Wow, I really wonder what the game'll turn out like now. =D

This is the first time in a game where I've seen puddles caused by rain, normally the rain just disappears right when it hits the ground. =P

They aren't caused by rain ;) It's a small pond :P

Very nice!!
Personally, I haven't experienced rain since MB!
Will weather work on its own this time?  Or is it still GM/dev generated only?

OMG! OMG! Save the trepors! They'll drown there!

All jokes aside, OMG! Water :D Nice!

PS: I have to learn to speek in sentences.

Wow, you actually recognized the location.  ;)

Yes, it's just the new oja road map.  (though, with a different name)  The new map of that name is on the other side of Hydlaa due to Akkaio's moving.

You can dive but perhaps only your head will be submerged.   :P
It doesn't look that deep.

Maybe, but I know where a shovel happens to lie, and I'll dig it deeper with that! Failing that, I can /die there, and thus be fully submerged for 30 seconds. :)

Yes, it's just the new oja road map.  (though, with a different name)  The new map of that name is on the other side of Hydlaa due to Akkaio's moving.

if by "new maps" you meant just rearranging them.. im going to shake my fist at you.. for a long time..

not really, thats almost more exciting than new maps

No, not "just" :)
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Seytra on June 27, 2006, 09:48:32 pm
Sounds more like they made a new map, put that on the other side of Hydlaa, and connected Ojaveda to it, and thusly named that ojaroad. Hence, the old ojaroad map was renamed (but kept in place), and has also been modified to include a small shallow lake.

No it isn't ^_^
More exciting than new maps are new maps with podles on them. :D
And paragliding... but that doesn't count.

Post by: Ryvis on June 28, 2006, 10:22:38 pm
it states that Krylos can breath underwater, yet someone near the top was wondering about working swimming. Does that mean (given that there is no gliding as i understand it) that there is absolutly no reason to pick a Krylos?

And that shot kicks butt!! Keep them coming!
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Karyuu on June 28, 2006, 10:33:29 pm
You pick whatever race you like the look and feel of best. All races will have special abilities and cool traits in the future, but you should always pick a character that you just feel most comfortable roleplaying with.
Title: Re: pretty

Oh and great pic! Can't wait to go skinny dipping in that one.
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Ryvis on June 28, 2006, 10:38:57 pm
So it's a matter of aesthetic appeal then? Do the stats matter either (ie a diablo vs krylos, same level, same skill, same weapon = same damage?)? Thanks a bunch!
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Karyuu on June 28, 2006, 10:40:27 pm
The races have their own individual beginning stats, but you can train any character to anything - one doesn't learn slower or faster than another.
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Ryvis on June 28, 2006, 10:44:59 pm
Still waiting to create my first char, so I must ask, is that photo generally what planeshift looks like? Or is that leaps and bound above the current graphics?
Title: Re: pretty

The actual release will look even better. There are still modifications to make before it's out.

Have you seen the screenshot section (http://www.planeshift.it/pics.html) on the main website? :)

Water is just for show at this point.  We don't yet have any real change when entering it, so you just wade through.  In the case of deep water, you just walk on the bottom.  ;)

The first shot was on the redesigned oja road map (now not the road to Akkaio anymore, however).  This shot is on the new road to Akkaio.

Ok, those 2 screens show a slightly new map. But please say this is not the only stuff you meant with new map. It's the same as before. Same graphics, only different heightmapp and the water was ther before, too(remember the lake in north-west). I was really happy about new map, but as I saw the screens.. Okay it's slightly different, better than notheing and I don't want to blame, but won't there be real different parts in the new map or jsut the old a little bit more huge? That's my question

There was no lake... Only water we had was in the sewers.  (the blue voids in certain areas are places lacking map peices, and not water)

Yes, there is a lot more than what I'm showing you in these 2 shots.  ;)
No, I'm not going to tell you what.  :)

I meant the unfinished terrain in the north-west (where the hill over Hydlaa was). There was a lake, wasn't it?
Okay, now I understand. Have to wait a little bit longer then for a real new map with new stuff(klyrosmap or so).
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: DaveG on June 29, 2006, 12:42:33 pm
By the way, I thought it was obvious but I guess it's not.  Here, I'll put the pieces together for you so you'll stop asking me:

1) Redesigned oja road map, in the same place as before, but no longer the road to Akkaio.
2) New oja road map, on the way to Akkaio in its new position.
3) Guess what, there's 2 roads going to different places... one of which is Akkiao, the other is....... <insert conspiracy theories here>
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Faldurai on June 29, 2006, 12:46:03 pm
2) okay, then there is maybe something more positive - shorter way to akkiao ^^
3) wohoo. Heard about Lemurcity.. would be great, also if it is something else but new!
Thank you for a the little spoiler!

If Ojaveda is East and the map at Jayose is accurate but just draw with East as the top reference point, then North, where the ex-ojapath led, should be the Emerald Lake and some Ylian village.

i am having no trouble walking underwater in the sewers ;)

I was just going to say...if you want to know the feeling of walking underwater, you just need to go to one of the 'flooded' rooms in the sewers.  You can tell you are under water somewhat but no change in density or movement, that's a little beyond this stage of development.

As for the new road(s) to Ojaveda, my guess would be (and this is just speculation, I hope its not too inappropriate if it turns out to be accurate) the new area would be simply another dsar in Ojaveda.  So 'road to Ojaveda' would still be an accurate description, they would both go there, just one to Akkaio and the other to the new dsar.  Whatever it is, sounds very cool, can't wait to run around and explore.

Mordaan slaps himself and tries not speculate any further

:surrender: This isn't a spoiler, because I only know what I have read in these forums, and a conversation with one of the NPC's - note there are a number of NPC's who speakof other places, this one happens to mention a lake:

Quote
You see a male Ylian in front of you named Taulim Wilaal
One of Hydlaa's military guards, he patrols his route with a keen eye

Who are you?
I'm called Taulim Wilaal, friend. I recently moved to Hydlaa from my small village near the Emerald Lake called Homestead. Lots of farmers out that way; very rural.

about homestead
Homestead is a small farming village just north of Hydlaa's western sections. A road leads from it to the mines in the north, against the wall. It passes by the Emerald Lake.

about emerald lake
The lake is called Emerald due to the color of its waters. There's supposed to be some island or whatever in the middle, but I've not been near enough to tell. It's just south of the mines, and a bit west.
...but it's something to think about - i doubt that the town name of 'Homestead' will stick, though - it just doesn't sound very 'Yliakumish'   ::|

They have weather

They are putting in lakes and water for visual reasons only.  You won't be able to do much with it, but it is the first step.

And I got through that without any of my three lovely ladies getting mad at me :D
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: DaveG on June 30, 2006, 04:55:10 am
Welcome to the obvious.  Yes, we have weather and lakes and water in this game.

Mac lacked weather because for some reason the rain stuff wasn't included in the package, which should be resolved now.
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Mordaan on June 30, 2006, 04:58:18 am
There was a rather large river just to the east of Hydlaa there for awhile, but somewhere along the line it drained and became a void.  Must have been a frozen river though because you just could just stand on top of it.
And I have the pc version and I haven't seen rain since MB.   :(  I guess I just haven't been on when devs/GMs test it.

Hold it right there. "Skins" it was said. Was that shorthand for skins, animations, maybe even models?
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Karyuu on June 30, 2006, 05:59:52 am
Skins means skins. My post was simply to state that asking questions of what will be in the update is never preferred to just waiting to see if those questions will be answered in-game. We can disappoint or reward expectations, but I'd much rather people just hold their questions until they are able to see for themselves.
Title: the nature of preference

My post was simply to state that asking questions of what will be in the update is never preferred to just waiting to see if those questions will be answered in-game.

??? I don't understand how could something be "never preferred"? Not everyone prefers or doesn't prefer the same things. That's what the words prefer and preference are all about.  ;)
Title: Re: pretty
Post by: Karyuu on June 30, 2006, 06:26:04 am
The -dev team- never prefers that people ask questions about updates on the forum, but instead wait to see what the updates contain for themselves. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

There was a rather large river just to the east of Hydlaa there for awhile, but somewhere along the line it drained and became a void.  Must have been a frozen river though because you just could just stand on top of it.
It wasn't a river... it was just a blue void with a floor...

I see.  I liked my frozen river idea better.   :P

I hope something similar will go in a certain underground area...... The mine is getting smelly.....  ;D

That odiforous emanation is coming from Zak  :o ...we have tried leaving pleasant smelling things at his feet, but so far...NO LUCK!

Marra nods and gets a disgusted look when thinking of all of their attempts to improve Zak's toxic body odour  "A pond or underground waterfall would be perfect, we could just throw him in!"

It'll be a little whie before I get used to the new look, but I like a change every now and then.  Great work all!
