Title: R.I.P. - A thread for all the characters and people we miss in PlaneShift
Post by: hook on July 13, 2006, 09:16:34 pm
I was just chatting with josePhoenix about the good ol' times and remembered all those great people I knew back then (early MB) and that have left PlaneShift already.

So I decided to make a topic to thank all the people/characters who aren't with us anymore and tell them that they're missed a lot!

Here's my list, in no particular order (or at least those names that I remember - I'm absolutely terrible with names!):

If any of you are still alive and kicking, I appologise greatly and would dearly like to hear from you!!  :surrender:  :flowers:

edit: corrected the name of Mayia

Hehe, chatting about old time is evil, Seeln, you should know that ;)

If I were to post a list, it would include about the same names - but definitely not the second one, can't stand this catnip addict - plus a few others who know who they are. Rather than dwelling on the past, though I respect the idea and wouldn't say no to having news from some of those people, I'll say it was a treat to mess around with them, running on rooftops and all.

Even if that wasn't the way the developers intended this experience to be :D

Or was it? In any case, they've succeeded in putting a great community together, kudos for that!

PS: it was Mayia :) and speaking of him, don't forget Abaddon who was never far away.

I miss Agara too, but it's Lindrae I miss most of all. Many were the happy moments we spent exploring and Rat hunting last Summer

Just the other day I was looking over my old chat logs from 2004.

Agara was at the top of my list as well.

Who could forget Rumblebelly!

And I miss Harveywallbanger getting married like every other week.   ;D

There was also Aineko...who could forget her mods?

There are so many.  Too numerous to mention.

In addition to all of the above

[sorry if I name anyone who is around, but I haven't seen you... or you changed your name]

Drakie, Faldie (maybe those twoa are just me  ;) ), Monketh...

Phosphus, Bora, Karosh, Levski, many other Blitzers, who may return one day.

Is Drad still around? Or Slicer? Where has Myysst gone? I haven't seen Elkindel in forever...

Zim pops in now and again.  He announces his return only to promptly disappear again.  I'm sure we will hear from him again soon.

Myysst left the Blitzers a long while back. I think he was planning to have a guild of his own, but then POOF, real life happen. He has not been in planeshift for at least six months. There is no word that I know of if he plans on coming back or not. Knowing him he will come check out planeshift again ..... but until then .... Zorbels misses you Myysst. I hope our paths with cross one day again so that we can really cause some trouble together.

Don't worry, Miss Taser. The Lady will always be here in spirit. :)

As for who I miss... perhaps Phinehas is one of the most missed for me. A truly unique person and character in my eyes. And one of the Fellowship. I shall name a cane after you, Scorching Mind. A nice twisted one.

I also miss Tybalt the Red Monk, whom I have modeled my most current character after. (save for the blindness and the fighting skills.)

Setill
Raynor
Sirunie and his lovely wife.
Thalanx

I still have most of my old logs... *big sigh* such fond memories.
No memory I have of past times in planeshift will ever come close than the time Odessa, Constrabus, Siruine, Thalanx and I few others were playing with a couple of ulbers whilst chatting on teamspeak... all the rest died and Odessa was left trying to kill an ulber down to 1.9% health with 5th rank fireballs lol.

I never did kill it as I lost patience.

Agara and of course Lindrae and Leona/Leonor :'(
I haven't seen Brokk for ages neither and although I certainly get a bap I need to say that I miss Demarthl simply because I wouldn't be GM without him.
There are a lot more people in my ~300 buddy list who I miss for a more or less long time :(

Ralin - the first person I met in PlaneShift, a black fenki with a heart of gold, who kindly and with great patience explained a lot of things in PlaneShift. Her dream of a guild that would only help noobies influenced on my character a lot and was also the cause why I hesitated so long to join a guild (and even turned Havena down when she offered me a high position when she was still dreaming up the Explorers). Ralin, I miss you very much! Wish you were back with us!!

In memory of her I named my Groffel Rharhas Tralin.

No one misses Link? Hope I don't get  :ban: for saying his name. ;) I would say I miss him even though I still see 'em occassionally.

Anyways, tons of old memories. If any of you got me started on being nostalgic, I could go on forever. Too bad my name isn't coming up much. For one, no one misses me and partied when I left, heh. Two, I'm older than most of these names (not Hook's), so a lot of these people may not know me. :( Meh.

I miss Dem and Moogie, too.

Zim, Xeraans, and Daikan i've not seen for quite a while...though i'm fairly certain they'll return.

Ayshe, Hart, and Kii I see on IRC all the time but I miss them a lot IG.

Kittik is kind of retired until I can think of something horrible to happen to him...

EDIT:...and Capitilization For All

John (got me started on the game), Ayshe, Thorin (no one to laugh at now =P), pretty much the entire feline's lair, Sirunie (Mitaki's rival), the radiant fate guild (who's leader I kept telling to stop mass recruiting), Neeve and a few older GM's. I wish I started playing back in the times of MB, my list would be so much longer. =P A few of these people back then probably thought I was a noob.

Thanks for this thread. :-)  It was fun to remember most of those people.

Of all those, the most mystifying disappearance was Kada...  so involved and gone so suddenly.  Perhaps she got pregnant with triplets. :-)

Also, ever notice how the people who give big speeches about leaving actually always come back?  it is the people who disappear with no announcement who really stay gone...

- Venge

p.s. no announcement about my resignation should be expected.  ;-)

I've to agree that the "RIP" part of the title seems a bit harsh, but, reading through the posts made, one discovers its true intentionality. Simply, you post here the names of those people that are somehow missed, but that you have lost faith in seeing ingame again.

If someone feels his/her char name should be here, and isn't, perhaps it's because I still hold faith on seeing him/her again.
I've been away some time too, and perhaps I mention people that has returned during
this period, if I commit that mistake, sorry goes in advance.

I'll start with some names that had already been said:

Kada: Personally I never met her, but everyone talks good about her. Someone that played a bartender, and ruled the tavern
surely was worth to meet. It's as if I missed an important part of this game history, more than a feeling of missing, since we did not meet.

Agara: I think Agara had the longest buddy list ever. She kept track of who was online or wasn't better than the Laanx database itself. I recall Jekkar telling me that she was on the few that greeted him. Players that make other players more welcomed in the game are always worth it. If only for that, she is missed.

Lindrae: Once she became unactive in game, I had the chance to talk with her a bit through PM. The arrival of the new forums seems to have wiped her entirely. I expected a goodbye from Lindrae, the person. You were a nice player, and an image now comes to mind, an image I just love, for the roleplay it has, not a RP of war and fight or mighty heroicity. I like chars that are living entities. You were able to do that, Lindrae. The image I still hold of Lindrae was her looking absentmindedly to a group at the tavern, while pouring herself a mug of milk, and spilling it over the counter, then realizing what she did, and coming back to reality. That sort of RP I miss. You're missed too, Lindrae, if you ever read this, drop a word, please.

Maanar: Ilde (never Idle ;) ) a char worth it. A bartender, needed. A gentle person, also. I've been shocked to see Maanar char deleted, and gone without an official word. I know at least one person, that says that started RPing thanks to you, Maanar. I'm sure he isn't the only one. You promoted RP silently, from behind the counter. I tried as much as I could to be there and support you, even if I had not exactly the tavern type char. Your lived things from there are to make a book. The weird mixures that some clients asked for just being an example, for instance a drink that had rat poison comes to mind. You added to the world, Maanar, don't doubt it. What was in that large tube that Maanar had at his back, will remain a secret for me, forever more.

Isra: So it seems you left again? I tried to make you stay, when I spotted you on your return, and I know you had the meeting I suggested you. I thought that if you met one of (if not the best) roleplayer that can be found in game at this moment (at least imo) could help you to reconsider. Seems I was wrong. Your work with the Yliakum Job Agency was great. Your attempt to create is respected, and you had a communitary support, since it seemed that the Agency went fairly fine, and it held some really good roleplayers (Iantha comes to mind, but I still hope to see her again) that helped to create a nice ambient for the Agency. It was a great idea, and I think you had enough support as to make it work. I don't know exactly what happened, but a pitty it failed in the end.

Haggnah: Possibly not the best roleplayer in the world, yes, but what a big heart. It's always good to have nice players around, and you certainly were one of those Haggnah, you were very open to everyone, and remained loyal (I lack there a better word) when you gave your friendship. It was noticeable how you wanted the ones around you to be good Haggnah, those attitudes indeed help to create "community". I recall you with Eolius and Neck practicing sword skill at the grass field at the right of Harnquist, behind the wooden wall.

Karii: You tried to make Karii Winterwalker a misterious char. In a sense, it was. I remember how she turned to see with shiny eyes and a little smile and then go away. I also recall it was a char related with magic. I would have liked to talk about that with you, to try to share my vision about it. I recall you had to recreate the char, because it was affected by that bug (that I also suffer) that did not gain mana points despite training mental skills. You said you had to do it. There was not such a need. You had the attributes to be able to RP it all, and succeed. Our last talk was in tells, when I thought you were gone for good, and asked you so. You had to leave immediately and apologized, but would return soon... till today.

Ok, now for some that still haven't been mentioned, the order and lenght has nothing to do with a ranking or anything, just in case anyone wonders:

Chessie You had problems with the game controls, I recall. It was a funny scene to see that, but you finally got used to the mechanics. You were very eager to do things and went energetically from one place to the other. You even used the parens to denote OOC, and understood the concept finely. Your rush and electric movements were also in your sentences, it was fun to meet you, if only for a day, I think you could have become a good player in here, if only I had managed to convince enough as to stay for more time around.

Dakhar I recall this menki, with a misterious piece of paper that seemed to be a map or something. I recall we were at the top of the tavern. Unfortunately I too recall your frequent crashes. After one of those, I think I've never met you again, and it's indeed a pitty, because you seemed to have a story in mind, and surely you'd have found enough players willing to help you with it.

Elian A male dermorian. I recall you joined Defenders, one of it last recruitments before it almost banished. We shared some conversations about the game itself, that were interesting, and I think profitable for both, where we shared sincere opinions about the most varied range of topics.

Krizzya: Another one day only meeting. Despite being only that short, it was a nice one. You had come here as a new player, but you had an evident background with this type of games. You had style playing, and seemed a nice person, cheerful. It makes me sad to see those valuable players only last for a day, and leaves me wondering if I could have done something else to make them stay. I would have loved to have had the chance to play with and learn from you.

Psi: A nice new player. I think you had a female ynnwn model, do not recall what race you were. It was good to see you use the parens for OOC talk as soon as I informed you about it, and it was a pleasant surprise to see you really involved into trying to RP, even trying to write in an old fashioned way, despite you being non native. Those efforts towards RP are hard to be found in a new player.

Sook: Another new player, that quickly understood the OOC convention... but was not to be seen after the first day. They start with a big rush, and good attitude (otherwise they would have not agreed to the OOC denoting) and I always ask myself if I did not canalize all that willingness correctly.

Suli: A male dwarf, pretty much the same comment as Sook applies. You agreed to my conditions about the weapon thing, and used the parens without problems. You even gave proof of your RP volunteer with some well described bows, or dwarven praise. Then again, only 1 day last.

Venare: I think I recall you being a male ynnwn (or at least you had that model) I think I only meet you one day, too. But you said you were skilled in RP, meaning that you had roleplayed before joining the game. It's always interesting to find this kind of players and see their vision not only about the game, but also about the roleplay itself. I use your name in memory of all those "veteran" roleplayers that join the game, but unfortunately do not find roleplay around them and leave too soon.

Indigrus: I recall our meeting. It was at the entrance of the sewers, you exited it and I saw your name tag. It rang a bell, so I sent you a tell. Apparently, mine also rang one to you but we did not say it. Sometime later we both found out why, here in the forums, you had a signature with the name Indigrus, and that's where I read the name. You were Maiden Indigo here. I recall that, once you found out, you made a post and, at the end of it, you added a "hi Nilrem!" that had nothing to do with the post itself, but that proved you found why the bell rang. You were slightly reluctant to accept getting involved into some rp, because you were shy irl (who isnt? :) ) I had the faith that you could be a great player in this game, Indigrus, and I still think it. I had the chance to recieve an answer to one of my PM from you, once I thought you were gone, but I never saw that alt you had in game. Seems that now you're gone for good, and I don't know why.

Kiirani: The white snowy fenki. I recall our encounter as if it was today, and that is my best memory of you. At the tavern, Kiirani praised about how she climbed the pillars of the laanx dungeon. I went there, and saw it myself. It was nice. I too recall some snow flops falling to the ground, though ;) Now there's a white skin for the fenkis in game, so perhaps someday I'm surprised and I see Kiirani of the Felines Lair around, climbing the unclimbable.

Sanjana: A new player, that I recall freshy. Had a female ynnwn model, can't recall the race of the char. I still feel very sorry for the loss of this char, when I talked to her and explained a bit my vision about how she could play, she answered me that she wanted her char to be a singer. It's hard to find new players that want to be something that original, I did my best to try to tell her how she could roleplay a singer, the use of /me sings "song lyric here" and got really happy when I saw she did that, I always think that a new player might see me as a lunatic, trying to encourage her, for instance that she can indeed play a singer, while everyone passing around has swords weilded. I lead her to the tavern, to see if there was some Rper there, that could help me, and destroy that lunatic image. I had to call Sengus with a tell to see if he could help me, as he was one rper I knew online at that moment, I've to say he came and rped, the only one that did amongst the ones I called for help, but shortly after I left, and I never saw Sanjana again. I think I commited an error of creating an alt shortly after that day, and have that alt with an empty buddy list. Perhaps you joined, Sanjana, and I was indeed there, but blind to see you. I'll just post now the song, in her memorial, a new player that wanted to roleplay, but that I was unable to save:

"In some forgotten land...
there was a small and really really brayave man
he was a stranger
tooo the people
They wouldn't like him
They wouldn't hate him
They would not...even talk to him
But he... needed shelter
He...needed food
But they just wouldn't...listen tooo hiim
That is why he died
That is...how he died"

Shazzana: One potentially great new roleplayer I found thanks to the giving away free weapon for condition thing. Got used to the OOC convention soon, and started to roleplay really fast. I lost your track too soon, though. You still hadn't very defined your char yet, and that's indeed a hard process, but, in the meanwhile, I think you were developing fairly fine. You used the amnesic thing to not dig into your chars past, and I took that as if you were working on it, perhaps you had it planned already, and was just to be discovered by the rest of players. I never could find out that, but may this serve to proof you haven't falled in the amnesia, Shazzana.

Aiselyn: I recall our first encounter. How to forget it! Aiselyn hurted her leg, and I tried Nilrem to help there, trying to apply a bandage, mimeting more or less what was done to him on the shoulder in his past. I recall I put lots of effort in it, and the big misunderstanding that followed that RP. Fortunately it all got solved, and I was happy to see how you accepted to talk and discuss OOC about the issue, with the goal of solving it. That is a sign of a fair player, I honestly don't recall more Rpays with you, but just with that gesture you proved to be a valuable player, may all have that same attitude towards solving misunderstandings.

Sekhemet: Basek, the minstrel of epic proportions. The first bard I ever met in the game (only met 1 more, and I think is gone too, did not even had the time to catch his name, was a male ylian model) I think Sekhemet had a mandolin at her back, and it was a nice surprise to see such an original char (not for the society, there had to be bards indeed, but just few players would dare to be one) and with that only the name got directly to the buddy list. And when you add to Sekhemet the minstrel, an epic groffel pet, then the mixure is almost surrealistic. A very nice char and player to play with.

Evilin: I recall meeting this new player in Hydlaa Plaza. Got some connection issues or something that made her crash every now and then. Fortunately they got solved soon. To my discouraging, I never saw Evilin really roleplaying, but was a nice being, for the way we talked ooc, and I'm sure that would have become a decent player if she had recieved enough encouraging in that sense.

Stenar A male dwarf. A nice guy you were too, Stenar, I recall you were gone for a big period of time, then one day returned, and I think you dissapeared again. I have one scene in mind for Stenar that I doubt I'll forget. How he burned his beard on the fireplace... and how he later applied an alchemist mixure to his beard, once it had grown up after that chapter, to prevent it from burning again. It was such a funny scene, and you played it nicely, and the solution you applied from that time on was very imaginative, and one of the few times I've seen someone use something from an alchemist.

Aldebaria: I only saw this char one day. As Belun. It's always wonderful to find players that are somewhat encouraging, or at least respective with non usual chars. It's that encouraging, and respectfulness what helps create a better community, more variated, more complete.

Azulya: A waiter at Kada Els. Very active, not in the sense of player playing everyday, but as a char, moving up and down, and having a very scheduled timing. It seemed very much like the stressed waiter. It was nice to meet you, and a pitty that nor yours nor Silvens projects succeeded. It's also a collateral pitty for Maanar.

Dahari: A male Ylian, member of the Dark Empire. You had some valid points about roleplay and I recall you wanted to start something related to politics. It's always good to have someone that explores a new area or plane in the roleplay, and goes away from a standard warrior chosing, then again it was only lasting one day or two.

Dylia: I recall the first time I met you. I think it was at the Arena, near those merchant NPC wasn't it? I think that was the place where I tried to ask you about roleplay. You grew up a lot as a roleplayer, Dylia. And you kept being a nice person, trying to spread happyness. Surely there were days when you did that, and weren't the best days of your life, and, just for that, it's a matter of thanking, for thinking about others wellbeing. Fortunately you're not 100% gone, Dylia, and there's still that small chance to, someday, have an ooc talk with you.

Huel: A male dwarf. The classical one, I'd say. Creating a nice tavern ambience with Maanar and enjoying the ales. One of those chars played with grace that creates an environment.

Janie: Female enkidukai. I think the first time I met you was at the library, at the upper floor. You were a great player indeed, had a nice ability to express what was being done and also interesting ooc talks regarging the game itself. I think you're unfortunately gone for too long, I perhaps commited with you the same error I did with Sanjana and weren't aware of your presence when you in fact where online? I think the game needs a solid playerbase formed with players similar to you.

Kaile: Lendari/Telisam. One of the few chars that I haven't met personally, but for the recommendation of a third player. I think it went fairly fine. Gone for too long now as to expect a return. Too little I know about the char, and seems it will end this way, but it seemed that, with the player interesting debates could have been mantained.

Leament: Formerly known as Leafmint. Was a member of Vespers of Laanx, last time I recall talking with some of the VoL it seemed to me that it was assumed you were gone for good. Unfortunate thing. The char was defined, and it seemed that the player had a clear and straight concept about roleplay and also about the game itself, would have been good to not loose you.

Maelgwyn: You aimed to be a great warrior with the game mechanics and you achieved it. You even had won some of the Proglin tournaments that were held. I kept asking when it was going to arrive the moment where you aimed with the same intensity towards rp, and the moment was soon. Was it axe the only thing left to you? I think it was only axe. Unfortunately a new version release that seemed to be very unstable on your system truncated that expectancy, for me, and the rest of the players.

Michancia: Another new player that left too early. This time I had Tangor's help with you, to tell you about the game and its concept. You had to chose attempting to bartend... is that job doomed? seems everyone trying it ends leaving too soon. That was the only time I saw you, being guided by Tangor to Hydlaa, to attempt some RP in the tavern to see if you liked it. Days after Tangor told me you'd to leave too abruptedly, seems that the test was never done.

Myr: The misterious diaboli that played the flute. An interesting char, I think she was also interested in magic... dark way, if I recall correctly. The meetings were too intermitent as to discover something else about this char, and they gradually became more spaced in time. I think it could have been a great char, you, at least, knew how to play it.

Nonene: Amazingly skilled roleplayer with great language domain, and with a wish to extend roleplay around too. Just perfect for this game. I think there were some problems with your computer or something and you stopped playing but it lasts still till today. This game simply cannot afford loosing player such as you, Nonene. Please if you're reading this, try to drop a word.

Ralaya: Another extraordinary roleplayer if only for what the description let imagine. Yes, unfortunately that's how as far my encounter reached. I think I used tell to try to talk with you, and explained how to add buddies to the buddy list. So, seems we both had each other. Unfortunately, since that day you were never to be seen again, and now the char's even deleted. I would have liked to play with you, and learn from you. Same as Nonene and all the rest of names, if you see this and feel like, please drop a word.

Continuing below... 20.000 characters limit exceeded.

- Maanar (one of the first I met, and never forget)
- Pipra (Janner, don't let her work all day!)
- Dylia (Zorbels, get your sister back here!)
- Eoy, Boggoo & Tiana (your mates survived as Plakkem Hverrjanor)
- Ayshe (Felines Lair is no longer the same)
- Agara (talk with Ludamanu again!)
- Lindrae (you could have been another House of Purrty member)
- Kaile (simply "the lady" ...)
- Isaac (the legend of the Woiperdingers)

People not listed here: Don't be angry if I missed you, it was just too long ago ...

I am sorry to inform you, but Dylia isn't coming back. There are reasons for it that I don't wish to discuss to the public but she has told me to pass on her hello's and she hopes everyone is doing fine and having fun. She does on the rare occasion come into IRC with me when she stays over at my house. I will give you a nudge LigH the next time she does so you can speak with her yourself. :)

I continue here:

Silven: You had a male dermorian model, I don't recall your race, but I recall clearly you tried to help on bartending, mainly carrying goods from Ojaveda tavern to Kada Els one in Hydlaa. It seems you liked to use "real" drinks on your RP, and I'm sure you and Maanar would have agreed in how to do the roleplay, you had courage to be what you aimed to, but, as I'm discovering as I write this, seems that chosing to be a bartender (or related) is somewhat doomed. Again, it's unfortunate to see those nice new players go, when they've interesting inititatives such as you did.

Skaara: A menki interested in all magic ways, I had my talks with you regarding this, and I would have liked to keep them. While our visions about this certain topic differ, I'm sure I could have been able to learn something from your points, and hopefully you from mines to enrich each others play. But I saw Skaara a lot more in the shamanic role that you did with the little written pebbles, or the other methods you used. I recall your char one day while I was playing with Aradia, and I thought that a meeting of Skaara and her would be very nice, I still keep in my mind that image at the gazeebo and I'm sure she does too and misses you, it really felt so real, with the carpet and the little stones. Very well played, and detailed.

Tangera: No, I did not roleplay with this char much, but I had my talks with the GM that was behind the name. I had countless misunderstandings due to language (equally shared faults) but, in the end, I found out that Tangera the player was a nice person, too long since I last saw you, Tangera Tagide.

Zabeal: It's been impossible for me to contact you, Zabeal, although I've tried in all the ways imaginable. I, unfortunately, had to live with you the worst chapter I've ever had  (and I guess have) in this game, and it was nice having you at my side when that occured. You're a good person, Zabeal, and I'd like to hear from you soon. I've already assumed, though, that the background story of one of the few female dermorians I ever found in game will remain a mistery for me, forever.

Crystal: A mage in the Felines Lair. I did not roleplay much with her, but I tried to find her, to know how she played the magic. It was not the way I expected, I must confess. Dissapeared after some time. Later on, I knew that her name was taken by another person (or a bunch of other persons, seems there were more than two Crystal in the database) and I think there were problems in recreating the char, due to that name "stealing". Not too long ago, I made a /who and found Crystal in game. It was Crystal Habanera, and we talked a bit about said chapter. We even roleplayed a bit, and we had some nice time. I had to comment about the wing thing... but after all, the average roleplays went fairly fine. Later on, I discovered she's on making music, and have had the change of hearing some of her compositions.

While I've been writing this, I've found lots of names that I honestly did not recall. The majority of them were new players that only exchanged a few lines with me and to whom I tried to help as best as I could. After that brief encounter, I found them never more. Those names have not been included in this list, although it is indeed a pitty that such an amount of (potentially good) players leaves the game just on the first day, the ones I mentioned, and that lasted only a day, is because they showed some explicit interest towards roleplay, or proved some skills roleplaying a bit.

If one of those players reads this and wants to contact me, know that the Private Mail inbox seems to have no end now, so feel free to use it.

Edit 8/20: Crystal added.

Hello,

Just my contribution. :)
Deep behind the dusty tomes and overstacked shelves of Jayose's library, an epos can be discovered. It speaks of tales and characters from the times before.

Perhaps not everyone there are gone, I just haven't seen you in ages. :)

Ehm...  oops? Sorry 'bout that.

I should very much list people here too, but I haven't a clue who is or isn't still around.

Awesome, Cherppow!  I forgot to mention Dylia, I too miss her.  Also Rilar the character is largely absent these days.  Ralas misses them and will be forever haunted by the memory of that strange dream...

But on a happy note, Hart is back! \o/

As for who I miss... perhaps Phinehas is one of the most missed for me. A truly unique person and character in my eyes. And one of the Fellowship. I shall name a cane after you, Scorching Mind. A nice twisted one.
Why... don't I just get all warm and fuzzy inside after reading that? Not really. After all, I wouldn't be Phinehas if I could get all warm and fuzzy. Don't know what I've ever done to deserve your respect, but I'll take it after all. Few enough people give a hoot.

I miss all my old Ashes buddies, of course. Mostly Tybalt, Dyari, and Zeus. Most of you people will only have heard of Tybalt. The others didn't come to the forum or in-game much. I also miss Monketh, he had presence. Oh I definitely miss that guy who used to talk in third person all the time. Can't for the life of me remember his name. Then there was Draklar... I suppose I miss a few from in-game as well. Bora, Xenia, don't miss Agara, Elscha...

There's a single good thing about them being gone, but only one. It's much easier to become important in the community now that all the great pillars are gone. That's about it, though.

LMAO this is just too fun xD seriously

well there's a lot of people i miss :)

here are some of them

(using neko's method as i thought it was a nice way)

Slatte
This little redheared dwarf was strong, and fun... he was hyperactive weird but still a good warrior... i had lots of fun with this guy  running around, he left to take care of his studies, i haven't seen him since he told me this though.

Coralen
Another dwarf, he was a great miner and i remember seeing him in a trip through the dr, he was lost with a group and together with a few others we managed to get the whole group of people out of death realm and to the portal.. he had manners, was respectful and a good friend.

Delotool
This french guy used to run around hyperactively, he was into magic, mostly the red way and tried battling us with two mugs in his hands... I should hav told him drunk mages aren't much worth hehe... He was a kind guy and i had many discussions with him about the red way.

gireler
Heh this dwarf was probably the most dwarven person i've ever seen speaking of habits... He was polite in his bows and wise... but his hygeijne was at the lowest, he liked fart, eat right after blodshed and some other things i can't remember.

primu
A very nice person indeed, and a mage... He was very much into it and i used to train him untill his parents cut him of from PS >;/

Dales
Played PS on a modem, i drank alcohol with Dales and laughed a lot at the group of drunk people we were in xD... i think that the modem didn't want to anymore or is having problems connecting :(.

There are probably more to come if i reread all my logs, I hope so and am sorry for thoose i forgot...

Hope to see you all again :)

I'm not sure I know how to leave.  Good to have you posting, the forums are that much more interesting now.  I also find it interesting that you say Savion, but not Auran?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, and you don't know what you're talking about, then why talk at all?  Let's keep the thread clean.

Clean?  There really is no talking to you, is there?  It's called a conversation.  Not everything is about attacking you...and I know exactly what I'm talking about.  You, on the other hand, make very little sense.

Zeus made his character long after the naming policy came into effect.  He later changed his name to something or other and joined the protectors, then left the game.  That wasn't that long ago though... of course, maybe there have been two characters with the name Zeus?

Very very wrong Zeus.  I'm not even sure he played the game at all.  And if he did it wasn't much.

Well, I remember Savion as someone whose posts were interesting and amusing to read. All Auran really had going for him, besides the obvious evil thing, was that he hated my guts for some reason beyond my comprehension. That amused me.

But other people I miss are old guildmates like Isitar/Am-heh/ Velix who still keeps in touch here and there and Riffstorm who just tweaked out one day and left.

Too many other people to name like Demarthl and Vanderbal too.  Though I guess Dem is still around here and there?

As far as I know, he was mostly hanging around in Msn or IRC.

Golby is still alive and kicking, we exchanged emails not so long ago, and Dair was on Msn a few weeks ago. No idea about Keira.

Let's see about old OI. Evest is buried deep in EQ2, or more accurately, he's burying a lot of corpses there... Hevrah calls in now and then at the Explorers' camp. Thorgalf should still be around, Grono probably too, or aren't they?

Xolon seems to have evaporated, and Arbraz didn't like the controls on CB, or something like that, I think it wasn't his cup of tea anymore (same for Fredde who was too involved in racing events) ::|

Where's Keldorn??

And the others have pretty much moved on to something else, apparently. Mehallie used to jump from world to world, seeking a roleplay heaven, I hope she found what she was looking for.

Kiern: yes, I've removed those boards, sorry to everyone who used to visit OI and the Tavern... they were nice places to be at. Everything is safe and tidy in Kada-El's Graveyard now (and in a big backup, you never know) ;)

and Kada: I hope you're enjoying it, wherever you are out there, and that your wishes were fulfilled.

I use to play MB a very, very long time ago (I stopped playing due to moving and some other factors).
The first week I started playing I mostly explored Hydlaa, the dungeons, got stuck in the “green sea” and had fun jumping of the Laanx temple (Finding this very entertaining I did it quite a few times).  :P

After that I discovered that it was quite fascinating simply listening to people role-play and wonder at the interesting tales they come up with.  I found one of the best places for this at the tavern, with Kada-El always behind the bar inquiring about ones travels.  Sometimes I would go stop by the temple always to wonder if Agara had perhaps become a permanent fixture there (Being as quiet as I was I think perhaps she was the only that even knew I existed).  There are so many more I could mention! ::|

It’s great to read through this and have so many memories come back.  Although it is sad to see some people gone it is also good to see some older faces still here.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane guys keep posting.  :D

I didnt get to have too many conversations with Auran.. but he was always great to me, for some reason.
Oh he was nice to me in general, it was more stuff like that award he gave me, can't remember what it was anymore... Something along the lines of being the stupidest person, or something like that. Got a big kick out of it, can't find the thread anymore. Dumb search function.

You probably mean Moogie (M-o-o-gie); she left the board (and game) a few months ago, officially.

Here is the goodbye thread (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=21311.0).

Just wanted to put it for good ol' Mercenary Guild, which had gone offline so suddenly. It was fun playing with you guys. I'm sure that time wasn't wasted. Thanks!

Hello,

Just my contribution. :)
Deep behind the dusty tomes and overstacked shelves of Jayose's library, an epos can be discovered. It speaks of tales and characters from the times before.

Perhaps not everyone there are gone, I just haven't seen you in ages. :)

:O you remember Leji! I thought she was dissappering into the darkness and only I remember her! Do you have contact details or anything? I have desperatly been trying to reach her.

And to contribute to the topic of the thread, I miss (in no particular order):  Jinkeen, Dylia, Eoy, Boggoo, and Tiana just off the top of my head.  I am sure there are others that I can't think of right now, but they were some of the first ones I met and I have fond memories of lots of fun times with them.

... Considering my favourite memories of Kenti are of him camping the hydlaa spawn during a guild war, and repeatedly killing the bandit that was spawning near the temple when I was playin with it, I would rather NOT have a memory of anyone that character was modelled after. :P

Good bye, dear Lady Shaba Acidheart.

Your decision to leave us hits your friends hard. It was always a pleasure to meet you.

Many thanks for returning the Crystal Steel Balanced Dagger -- the weapon which described your personality like no other, and which was my gift to you one day to seal a friendship. It will make me never forget you.

Furthermore:

Good bye to Shauri Sut'lar, Zinn Zann and Raouldir Paxar; I hope to see you again in another life, when your real life issues allow it again, or you simply feel again a wish to return.

Yup Jekkar, that one. He was great. Best PS player I saw around. And person too. Don't the rest of you feel offended, but that's really what I think.

Unfortunely lost his contact.

*looks away and mumbles* Not my fault he was so protective of me.

Anyway, guess I should leave some names here, those I still remember (such a bad bad memory, and I miss a lot of people!) I miss Ciry and his dances... he was such a lovely chap.. Made my leadership all worthy to see his dwarven traces happy. Gparagonx, who was really tall and I usually missed due to the almost 12 hours difference. Max, as well of course, he was truely another level, and my right arm for quite a long time. I also miss pretty much the rest of the Bloodclaw people, some I still see (Thormor, Tinus, Jekkar, Agara, Harvey...), other I lost trace quite a while ago.

But also miss other people, like Moogie. I never was that close to her, but she was a nice person. I miss the days with Draklar and Seperot in the Temple. I miss trying to sell Ragnar with a fenki I can't recall her name, but I remember she was really cool. I miss the days I would worship the Pedestral (that turned me into the direction of creating Bloodclaw in the first place, look what it ended up in) and cooking ylians in it with Agara. Ahh, the old days are gone, but I'll always keep these people to heart, and the memory of how it felt to find a diamond for the first time, priceless, all priceless!

Well I was hoping that I wouldn't have to add this name to the thread but it appears that he won't be coming back, though I still have hopes. The moment I met this Menki we became inseparable. Where you would find one, you would find another. We made a great team, roleplayed up a storm all the time and had many mutual friends, not to mention a huge wedding and many roleplays that we were both involved in. Satayne you will truly be missed by me and you are a huge part of Zorbels character now. It is hard to know where to go from here with her story and without you. I only hope that some day that computer of yours will be fixed and you will join us in planeshift but until then take care and know I miss you much. *Big Hugs* <3

Aradia: Extraordinary player. With ability not only to create, but also immerse inside other person creations, thus aiding to create atmosphere. You managed to create a solid character, with marked gestures/abits (Aradia and the daggers covered by the sleeves, for instance) and personality. I always thought Aradia Demeter, and even more with the aid of the Thieves of Yliakum guild, could do something different in this game, and I guess she did, during the time she was around. It's always sad to see persons like Aradia leaving the game.
I had the pleasure to read and comment with you your writings, and fortunately leaving the game has not meant you dissapearing completely. Seems though that Yahoo and Gmail particular battle isn't making things easy.

Auithianilize:     ...
Implicitly... you said it. I did not think you would finally do it, though. But seems clear enough: character deleted, PM left unanswered. You're gone, and seems noone knew it before you did it. A pity. Not only for me. At least I know of one person that did enjoy very much playing with you. Surely he was not the only one. You had great abilities to play this kind of games, starting with the fact that you were pretty skilled with english usage. The only person that cared enough as to patiently tell me about the mistakes I made on character description was you. And more corrections and suggestions followed later, some having to do with posts in this forums. Our talks were often surrealistic, but always interesting or funny to read. I just hope you enjoyed as much as I did the messages sent. I guess this has come to an end now. There's just no possible way to reach you left.
There was no real need to leave like this, Auithianilize. Be well.

Iantha: I think I named this player at my first post in this thread, when naming Isra. I had the faith you would not be gone, for there was your explicit warning that you were not to be found around often. A healer of games was it? An odd story along this lines, I seem to recall... The character is gone now, deleted... and it's a great loss. Last thing I recall from you was Iantha having joined the Job Agency, checking some book with one of those little glasses that are used to read tiny letters. It's one of those "usual" scenes that I just liked to see. The "normal" life portrayed,  the complexity of simply play someone living in a land. I recall Iantha played in a very freshy way, jumping from here to there, and sticking out her tongue. Seeing you play her was fun and entertaining. I would have liked to, if only, had seen that again. Iantha personality was so much contrasting with Nuthedie, that it caused vertigo.
Unfortunately, there was no other way to reach you than in game, and I don't recall any other encounter since the one I mentioned with Iantha checking that book at Job Agency... probably some /tell.
The character name remained inside Nuthedie buddy list (as well as others) just in case you joined. But that did not happen anymore. I hope you're doing alright, Iantha.

Cendrick: Cendrick Wirad, if I recall correctly the surname. I think you were amongst the last characters I met. I say this because we met at the bronzedoors area map. There was hardly anone there by that time, so it was such a surprise to find you there. Even more to find someone that roleplayed. It felt odd, but it was one of the few times that I could talk about the Undertakers without being flamed about it. Nor IC nor OOC. I recall that, when our char encounter ended, and we were leading wherever we were meant to go, I sent you a /tell with congratulations on the play. I recall you were just doing the same thing, when receiving my message. Finding gentle people, who is conscious that is not there only to have good time himself/herself, but also that is sorrounded by other persons, deserving their fun/happyness ratio is always great. Even more when the good times spent are recognized and thanked. I seem to recall you had some experience with RP games, so it would have been nice to have heard more about your views about this one. I tried to encourage you to share them within the forums, but it seems such a thing never happened. A pity to loose people who might have added feedback from his own experience on other games of this kind, as well as nice people to play with.

Gellule: I'll omit naming your surname, Gellule... I'm pretty much aware I would not type it correctly, simply using my memory to rescue it. I do recall how we met, I think. When I tried to spread and share Tisouril's quest with every person I knew, and I thought would try to solve it, it was received with enthusiasm. It could not be otherwise, it was well planned, and everyone seemed willing to try completing it. Fact was, though, that you were the only one, Gellule, that did actually try to solve it. And so far you did complete some of its parts, while some others you were still close, but not completely right. Unfortunately that quest is now part of the past, not only because the only one trying to complete it is now gone, but also due to the quest being tied to map designs that now are gone. I also recall you under Belun's point of view. I seem to recall you were amongst the first against whom I tried Belun's character and Undertaker concept. So far it was well received, for which I thank you. It did not happen often. You had a good Explorer character, Gellule, you deserved to have completed the quest, I guess different connecting times prevented you from achieving it, you had it almost at hand.

Shooree: A Felines Lair member... one of the few I ended up knowing, together with Jjairr, though I think Jjairr is still around, somehow. Well... keeping with the "first meeting" mood, I think I too recall the first meeting I had with you, Shooree. Or at least, it's the first I recall. It was an almost comical situation, where Shooree started casting a spell that ended up making rocks inside of him. Not the best thing to eat, rocks... though fortunately there was a herbalist around, dexter enough as to make those rocks get out of Shooree stomach. Yeah, it's not that you need to be a herbalist to achieve that, you just need to put your fingers down your tongue deep enough... It was a different meeting, and I guess that's why it remains on memory. Not that anyone really feared for Shooree's life. Besides, the fact that he ended up being in charge of the library (I think) of the guild Felines Lair, made it a character not directly bound to war and battle, thus prone to result me interesting. I think you had a first break, maybe at the same time that the FL went on an "iatus" state, but I do recall you returned, but unfortunately not for long... I doubt it actually lasted a week. That first encounter will remain in memory though, Shooree.

There are many PS people I'd say I miss nowadays, but those in particular are the ones I really, really miss:

Giladrial (aka Giladriabeast): Definietely one of the coolest guys I came across during my stay in Planeshift. Clawhand/Draklar's arch enemy and at the same time his best friend, he brought so many colours to the game for me. Highly enjoyable to talk with, in general he was one of the most important figures in the early MB community. Also known to have a wooden stick in place of a tail.
Nyxie: I'm not completely sure whether she's really gone, seeing as I met her several times in CB, but either way that girl was a blast. Never became famous or anything of this sort, but none the less her playful attitude is certainly something I grew to miss in Planeshift.
Ravna: I still can't believe she wasn't around for a year or so, though I guess it's my fault for not being around to keep her in here. She always seemed to be laid back and smiling. Not many knew her well enough, but those who did, held her in high esteem. She was a real jewel in Planeshift, no doubt in that.
Catlina: I think simply saying lovable person pretty much sums up her presence in PS.
Kwartz: Meh, in my opinion the coolest Kran in the history of Planeshift. Also, my pet rock. Woe on him for blocking us on his msn!
Bobodar Stinkfoot: Why on Earth didn't I see Bobodar mentioned in this thread? I mean seriously, everyone loved Bobo! I'd expect at least one of the old timers mention his name. I'd quote that Bobo the clown thing of his, but I never memorized it. I don't think I'll forget his "You have my axe! Give me back my axe!" screams though.
Kada: That one's pretty obvious, isn't it? The highlight of Planeshift, it was her and Abaddon that brought me the highest respect for the ones who dwelled in this place long before me.
Dagger: The essence of all things assassin. No surprise she was the leader of the Assassins guild. One of the most respectable people in early MB community, along with Ayshe and stuff.

And until now I missed Clover. But it seems he's still around :P

Yeah, that's one of the disadvantages of an online community... If people who I know have to leave, I rather see them fade away or say goodbye, so I don't end up with the uneasy feelings.

Wow, too many people to mention.  I definitely agree with Draklar.  Don't tell him but I'd say he was more of a best friend then an arch enemy....*wags his stick tail*.  And of course I miss my fiance Dagger.  And Moogs, and Ayshe and Kllllllllllllluger, I think the amount of l's depended on the day, and Kada and Django and Nilaya and and, well, all the old people.   *sniffle*  Ok, I'm getting all sentimental now.  Emphasis on the mental part.  I'll go back to my shadows now.

Some of the awesome people remain ;)

Maybe it's just because I've known so many people, but I don't really let myself miss people from the game.  I've been in more guilds than I have fingers and I take the time to help out new players.  I've seen so many people come and leave that if I missed each and every one of them, I'd never be able to move on.  At some point you just have to say, hey, it's only a game, these people are still out there and they aren't in reality any further away from me than they were before.  If you're actually friends with these people then you'll have them on your online messenger, or myspace, or whatever it is kids are using these days.  Sometimes you get someone like Satayne who's computer blows up but that's just a temporary thing.

Great to hear from you again, in any case :)

I haven't gotten in contact with him in ages...and skype is the devil.

And everybody pops up at some time or another.  It's kind of nice to think that they have broken the addiction :P

As I remember, he did repair his PC but as it turns out the fault was part of a larger problem and so it would be easier for him to buy a complete new system, a good opportunity to upgrade ;D

The other day there was a song being played on the radio, that might suit a thread such as this one.
It was Nelly Furtado "All good things come to an end" and since, if I'm not mistaken, this thread hasn't yet a soundtrack, I leave the name here just so this thread has something more than written words in it.

Many names could be added, but better to stick with those that seem indeed to be gone. I'll add two of them today.

Sisilam: I think that played a character that was in the Knowledge Seekers guild. Maybe took too harshly the things that were implemented in the game, for she played a magician (or a learner of magic, at least) who based her income in mining. A rather odd mixture to my liking but, in any case, didn't prevent me (and I bet anyone else) from reaching the person behind. Gentle and welcoming above the average that one can expect. Sisilam, besides providing warm talks also wanted to contribute, in its code form, to the game and, if I'm not mistaken, she either was a prospect or did some little contributions here and there.

Saba: Maybe known as Shaba, by those who joined after the character wipe. Unfortunately, someone else took the name "Saba" and she was unable to use it on her char, to whom it "belonged". In any case, Saba Acidheart should be remembered. Maybe some do remember her due to the story telling meetings held at Kada Els tavern, but, what I think she should be remembered for is not for those events, but for having had the initiative to make them. Even if for the "purists", Saba might not show as the greatest roleplayer in the world, the fact that the player behind had the idea, and after that, tried to make it real (and even succeeded) about something that had nothing to do with war should be enough as for that name not to be forgotten easily.

I don't know 97% of the people listed in this thread, I'm older then dirt!  \\o//

Anyways, here's some people I miss.
Aelya
Alina
Binary
Atticus
Zeus
Faldrok
Kiern
Kada
DairEve
Windwalker
Venge <3
Annah
Washi
TeamGuard
Kiera
Clover
Golbez \o/
Meket
Hak`M
N0BRaiN
ALF^
Alucard/TheGeneral

Those were the people that were worthy enough for me to remember... actually all that I could remember. I'm sure I'm missing some more dear friends. I'm sure no one here will know many of those people as most were around before there was even a game released. Anyways, I never really left. I was just banned forever  :@#\ What I wouldn't give for the old days  ::) We were all here as a community, not for a game :P

Link's list is the list. Well, sorta. I didn't really know a couple of those people, but I'm on that list, so it's a nice list. Jeez, it's been way too long since I've been around here. And, Link is right -- all of us were back there for the community. Great stuff. /me cries as he walks off...

EDIT: 373? That number can't be right. I used to post a lot back in the day a long, long time ago. Jeez. By the way, Aender still uses blue. Haha. /me vanishes again.

EDIT2: Bah, since I didn't say this a year ago when I posted in this thread (Haha, it was my last post before this one too), if any of you mates that miss me want to contact me, I'm on AIM/MSN constantly. Info is to the left, or if you don't want to do that, PM me, and I'll check in the next few days, then I'll be out again. :P

Well, I don't think I am remembered by anyone save a single soul (or 2). It must have been 5 years or maybe even more since i posted anything here, but i sure miss the MB days with:
Abaddon
Maya
Nikodemus
Mindari
Pogopusschel
Cadripper
Bora
...

And of course the famous Mr. Squeeky, Dwarf-jumping, the Crimson Order in general and so many more people and places i can't remember at this time, even though i am sure i read the names just minutes ago in previous posts.
Later when CB came i became Falmarion and stayed with Bora and her Blitzers for a while but that is over now too i guess since the guildpage and everything seems to have dissapeared into thin air afaik.
Anyway, i might be playing again soon, or at least checking out how things come along.

Kelython, Falmarion Rámavoïté or whatever you used to call me.

I just noticed my last post referred to two characters starting by the same letter.

This is not Sue "Nilrem" Crafton's - Alphabet of Missed; fear not.

And, to prove myself, what best than to add some other names:

Seeln: Who turns out to be the creator of this very thread. I noticed that after our first meet (or at least the one I recall to be the first). It happened one day, when there was a CrystalSpace demonstration regarding Planeshift. If I'm not mistaken, that day, a great amount of the players where in Hydlaa Plaza, where the "live demo" was taking place. Far away from there, out of the paparazzi flashes, we met. Inside the Broken's Door tavern. Shared a nice roleplayed breakfast there. I guess I always liked those everyday-like scenes. And it was pleasant to find someone else who seemed to, too.
Somehow, I always wanted to believe that recreating life was more challenging and deep than a more action-focused approach.  Spending time to write about "daily" scenes, character expressions or ambiance descriptions (some wind rushing in from the balcony at Brado's top floor) can seem something ridiculous or a time loss, and it times it can be; but I think it aids immensely towards that feeling of realism and being involved that games like this require.

I said this wasn't to be the Alphabet of Crime  :detective: and I had to add an "S" starting name.
Let's break it:

Nilaya: Widely known. So much, that I doubt I can say anything that can't be considered known. At first, some can be thinking that Nilaya is still here, coding for the game, and that this entry is then, a mistake. I add here Nilaya, because I miss her (the character) and him (the player) and this is a thread for "characters and people" that is missed. I do not doubt the game has gained a nice coder. In fact, and from the little I've seen, Nilaya has to be someone nice to work with. To say it simply, and not spend much time in this subtopic, it seems that Nilaya is, at the time of coding, someone who looks about his punctuation and ortography.
In this thread I've mentioned about my first encounters with given characters/players. If you're reading this, Nilaya, you know I've not forgotten, so here's your turn ^^
It happened about two weeks or so after my first log in the game. I lost my first logs due to a format, so I cannot actually check about it anymore. But the encounter persisted on my memory. This is becoming a length exposition. It will indeed become. The encounter happened at the top of Kada Els floor. Now there's something I cannot set into time correctly... but, I recall Nilaya half-hiding below the stairs that lead to the tavern's roof, while she teared a piece of paper and let the tiny peaces go away with the wind. The image was quite unusual for me. First, because it was a purely roleplayed scene (and one had seen few before that one. No, I had no idea about roleplay at that time, have I now at all? But it stroke as something rare to be seen; I guess that's why Nilaya's action remained on memory) And secondly, because it had feeling in it, as well as an outern element to the char. The wind.
After that brief encounter (or maybe before, I said I cannot settle that action very well in time) the tavern roof. I seem to recall there were like 3 enkidukais there, plus a klyros. I think one of the enkidukais was Karyuu and maybe the klyros was Neck Romaniak. But I'm not sure if Neck was there by that time or not. Fact is that I was surprised by another Nilaya's action. The character description contained an explanation regarding the player that controlled her, to be a male. Such an open statement was hard to see.

What happened after is a bit ashaming to tell, but, since I've not forgotten my starts with the game, here it goes. I made my Nth mistake about using the name of a character mine wasn't presented to, in a dialogue. How hard it was to avoid to use it, when it was flashing with green neon lights right before your eyes.
As it was the fashion, the subsequent question regarding how my char knew the name aroused.
Panic did, too.  :P
In my starts I did not see, precisely, new players being treated with much consideration, so I tried my best to avoid the hit that surely (I thought) would come shall I present myself (even more clearly) as a new player.
What came to mind was that, since I had read about the setting and different descriptions the game had, I tried a "nice escape way" stating Nilrem knew about azure way. Which was false, and I now am in doubt if azure way is actually able to do that, but, the point was that, if one knew about the expression "azure way" might appear as, somehow, a less newlooking player.
Poor me.
"Oh, so let's prove it." That was the reply.
That meant I had failed. For I did not want Nilrem to act as if he knew about that magic way (for he did not) and, on the other hand, that which looked could be a nice meeting, was becoming complicated.
But, if I'm telling this here, is because Nilaya had something to do there. In this case, in terms of player. I got a /tell from Nilaya, stating that I could do the test on her, for he would reveal me what the char was thinking in /tells, shall I want to keep that play. I replied that he, in fact, wasn't a magician of the azure way.

That gesture, is the most extraordinary one. I've seen that happen very seldomly, with the time I've played. And for that, it was greatly appreciated then, and it is more appreciated as time proves how rare it is to see something like this happen again.
That aid, that care about what the _other_ is doing while playing is to praise.

The too prone to tears Nilaya char, was one to love. It comes to mind, now, that scene at Hydlaa Plaza stairs, she mimeting Nilrem's pebble throwing, as if by doing so there was some sort of understanding statement. The white dress of hers, the smile...
The fact that Nilaya had lived with dermorians (so very interesting would have been to have had your view on that, for my enrichment; since Nilrem was, precisely, the other way around) the fact that Nilaya played a character who dealt with magic (would have been interesting again to know about the concept you had, to see another point of view, and maybe to enrich my own concept for it)...

Maybe one day I get to know about some of this (or something else) in one of the seldom talks we have when both turn to be in game at the same time.
But, what seems more unlikely to me is to see again that white dressed Nilaya, mother caring like with her guilded ones and warm to the strangers, wandering cheerfully the Hydlaa streets.

The list of people I miss is too long, though I miss Nilaya as well, along with Cad and Kada and others.  It also helps that I've been gone so long that I've forgotten the names of several people.

Two more additions here.

It happens now again, blame the odds, that both share the same starting letter. Further, they share the first three.

Thyme: Thyme Zaatar. A masseuse, and I hope I wrote that right. Characters that went a bit out of the usual path always used to call my attention, moreover if said characters aided to create an idea of a more complete world. That someone wanted his/her character to be a masseuse was something utterly new for me, and I dare say for the rest of the active player base, at the moment Thyme tried to play her character.
In that sense, I tried giving Thyme the player as much support as possible, as well as tried to transmit confidence that the character was feasible, and that it could have a place.
The character did, eventually, succeed. Even if it took a bit of time, I had the chance to play with her for a bit, and was able to see that the character was well thought about, not being a player who chose a distinctive profession just for the sake of it, but that had, at the same time, put some effort into making it believable. In that sense, the player (more than the character itself) is missed.
There are, still, some (sporadic unfortunately) player to player conversations. If I had to describe with few words the cheery mood of the player behind Thyme I would use the way she used to type smileys. The usual ":)" was changed by the =) form, that, somehow, made it more close and warm.
That and the cook recipe exchanging, amongst other things, made the talks pleasant.
I'll then end this brief player/character reference with a "=)"

Thyrion: Maybe not fully gone, but we briefly talked about this, Thyrion (if you're reading this ^^).
Thyrion Alzhaman was, that I recall, the second and last herbalist character I ever found while playing. Curiously enough, both of them were characters worth being known. Maybe it is, then again, because it is not a so frequent character to find. There are playing styles that tend to be descriptive, or that you feel the other party is actually reading your character reactions, in order to react at its time, rather than just performing the premade role they had before jumping on the scene. I'd say Thyrion played the former way, a way that empowered those around to try to play better and create more atmosphere. Probably Jjairr would agree on this.
Thyrion itself was a mysterious character, with those... what were they? runes? stones? cannot recall exactly, on his palms. I think also he was on the few who smoked, and on pipe, if memory serves me well. Some odd Sherlock Holmes' klyros mutation, so to say. And as he was a studier of crimes, so Thyrion was of herbs.
An example of his creation, is the Herbalist Handbook, a compilation of the different plants, trees and herbs that the player created in order to give tools for his character to play with. Those creations, are, in my opinion, really useful.
First of all, because they come not imposed. You can take, or not, the herbs and plants that are there, it is an "unaggressive" contribution from player to player. In that sense, it helps to enrich the world. I took one of those herbs into my play. I guess so did others.
What makes them useful too, is that they're creations that few stop to think about, unless they're playing a character tied to it (herbalist, in this case) so, those inventions, if well done and rational, aid opening a new field for other players to explore.

If any player wishes to know what was the initial outline of that Herbalist Handbook I referred to before, I took myself the permission to seek for the thread that contains it, and link it here. Credit goes to Thyrion Alzhaman :) :

Aw... I was hoping that someone, on the off chance, would have remembered a Dermorian named Satha...   :sweatdrop:

But I think it's too much to ask. I mean, I did play in 2004 I think... way back when, before fighting and monsters and stuff were put in. I wasn't the most extroverted person in the world, and that didn't help me thinks.
(I did venture back here between now and then once, but I got scared off after a day or so.  ::| )

I can't really remember anyone very well, so I guess I shouldn't expect them to ether!

Actually, I do remember hanging out mostly with... some dwarf. Can't remember his name now. We were in the tavern a lot though, if I can remember right. The only thing I can remember very well is annoying him by saying to specify what eyebrow he said he was raising. I could be wrong but, I don't think he would be playing anymore.

I do wish to come back from the dead though... and actually stick to playing this time.  :whistling:

I miss the entire Order of Daggers who left. Valorius particularly. I know she wasnt exactly popular, but she taught me many things in the game, and made it really fun. And it was kinda fun seeing her go ballistic over someone over another, with her personality as a "arrogant battle queen".

/me wipes a tear for his good friends Idoru, Gharin, Fules and Cyprian and whispers a prayer for brother Pisik and brother Jelem, who haven't been seen much the last weeks and months.

/me walks away with his head lowered.

I'm still here  :) just don't get much time to play.

*Tries to think of the names of all the people I miss*
Socia Birad (Queen of the sword)
Agara
Idoru
Restound
Chazarus

...and basically alot of people who I spent time with RP'ing, who are no longer around.

WHOA! Earl! I'm back from the dead baby! It was something special to see that bud. Thanks.

Who do I miss? Three people come to mind immediately and of course there are more.

Eldkin- Dude... you and I entered our guild together. You showed me "Dermorian Magic" and I showed you how to work steel. 6 months is too long! Work out those dang inet problems and stop in to say hi bud.

Larisma- You completely deleted your account... I miss random duels and the extremely awkward RP our characters always had. Never stopped being entertaining.

Stonn- I owe my crafting skills to you. You were always available for a word of advice or steel stock if Rell wasn't around.

Hi Listbard,

I'm Beanius as well as Drahlian, so thank you for your message. BTW almost half of the people on that list now actively play Regnum Online. :)

I'm curious what characters you have played, since I don't recall Drahlian or Beanius knowing a Listbard, though I've met him with some of my other characters.

Never saw this post before. I hadn't realized she was gone... She gave my character two really good short swords and told her to give them back later, but then Valorius went poof and never came back. I liked the way she roleplayed.

Proglin and I had an ale in Kada's together not long ago. He's around... he's just not as around as we'd like. In game I miss all the Survivors of course, but we're rather active on the outside right now, so fear not friends of the Survivors.

I didn't know Valorius was gone either. I know her from another character, but I really enjoyed talking to her. I agree, she pulled off the "arrogant battle queen" rather well.

:woot: Well it is nice of you to mention me Earl_Listbard. It put a smile on my face to know that my roleplaying impacted you enough to remember my name. Thank you!

To all those who knew my character and myself personally, I want to apologize for falling off the face of the earth. I needed a long break and it did me well to leave the community for awhile. Please those of you who knew me personally don't take my not telling you as an insult. I just didn't want to be talked out of leaving.

I have been considering bringing Zorbels back, but I still don't have tons of time to play. If there is one thing I learned about this game, it is ....  you need the time to build a strong story and character. You also need time to get to know all the wonderful characters out there in planeshift. I will have no less for my character Zorbels and I spent way to much time building her personality and story up to ruin that now. I miss planeshift as I played for two and a half years daily before taking a break. I will return eventually but I find I have to get to know the world of planeshift again as many things have changed.

To Karyuu and Proglin,

It brings sorrow to my heart to know you have both left planeshift and I never got to say goodbye. You both were a great people whom I developed relationships with in different ways and I hope that where ever life takes you it is filled with joy and people who love you. You will be missed by me and just know you both earned my respect and friendship. You guys rocked and I will never forget the good times.

There are a lot of people I miss...the ones that I first met when I started playing, those that I used to roleplay with all the time, a few examples being Setill and Dylia, and those that were in the guilds I've joined and left to progress my characters in their stories.

So both Karyuu and Proglin have left, apparently.
Thanks a lot, Farren Kutter, for providing the link where Proglin states about his departure.
I was aware he had some disappointments, but had no confirmation of his full departure, nor his specific reasons to do so.
Does anyone know if there's something similar for Karyuu?

First I'll talk about the name I came to put, and after I'll include Proglin, since his departure has been confirmed.

Bereror: A character that, if I'm not mistaken, I've not roleplayed with. :) Which makes this entry special. Ok... at the most there were some tent-related jokes the last days ^^
I include Bereror here due to his gentle attitude. Found him accidentally, same as AryHann, inside the IRC PS channel. The few times I logged in, he was gentle enough as to reply, if only to state an "I don't know". When looking for an answer, getting some is better than getting any. But his aid was usually quite profitable, lots probably remember him if using Linux, with his aid on the builds and guides to compile.
Later on he became a developer, and after a period of retirement, maybe he'll be active again. If he decides to be, and has the time to, is, I think, one great addition to the coding team, not only due to having proved to be a great guy and programmer, but also due to the thought he put when coding, not only about the code itself, but the way to do it so it was best for everyone. I personally recall the rebuilding of the /report system, for so long broken, that he dealt with. How he wanted to think about a way that was robust, and tried to preserve as much possible each player's privacy is something to be praised. While our opinions might differ at certain points, one cannot deny that his beliefs where there for a reason he had thought of, and that is always something valuable.

Proglin: Confirmed the departure, joins the list. Same as I did one with Saba Acidheart, Proglin also deserves the praise for having tried to create something for the players. Where Saba built the story tell events, Proglin put his tournaments. Not that they did not exist before his arrival, but he certainly tried boosting them, giving them an aura of "professionalism". I assisted as an spectator to the firsts of them. No doubt the fun was on the sand, but I had no char to be there, and somewhat wanted to express my support as a player. The tournaments ended up creating an organization group, and I'm sure they were immensely fun times for those who had their chars fighting in them. The cons, however, were that the organization team obeyed more to an "OOC fame" rather than an IC char that indeed organized (which is a quite comprehensible "flaw" IMO) and that the competitions weren't always that Rped (which is always tricky to handle, with the big affluence they ended having)
I recall Proglin as a player that tried to make things happen, with energy, "good day mate!" greetings and the like. No doubt that was a must to build up the shows.
Most likely he's been already talked about widely, so I wanted to try to remark something that meant an addition.
As an end, it always struck me his surname "Unsir". As if "no-sir" which was kind of funny, and not fitting-meaning to his carrier.

Who do I miss? Oh Jeeze...

Aradia
Aradia Demeter...probably the best RPer I've ever met. She created one of the most solid characters I've ever seen. Not only that, but she intertwined her character with mine to the point at which we might as well have been one! She taught me everything I know about Roleplay and PS, and she taught Maulus everything he knows as well. If not for Aradia, the Thieves would not have lasted more than a week! She was a whirlwind of ideas; almost every week she would ask me what I thought of this, or if this was too "God Moddy". If the guild needed recruits, Aradia would recruit (or send me out xD ). When we were craving RP, Aradia would make some. When the Thieves were in a crunch, Aradia would get us out. IC or not, for better or worse, she changed PS forever.

"I stood up and made sure that my daggers were well concealed under my sleeves. "Let's go find this gobble" I said as I followed him. I smiled to myself and thought, "Hydlaa... this is where it can all change". "

The last thing I can say about Aradia is that when she left, PS was never really as bright, alive or enthralling as it had been. On the day her account was deleted....

I think a bit of PS went with it.

SovHed
Sov was quite the character, and quite the greedy bastard as well! :P He had many names, some of which being: Sovcat, Sover, Sovsquatch, Lumpy Git, and myriad others. He was always looking for a way to get money or something rare, and he often sent his followers (me) out on quests to get them. Let me tell you, its almost impossible to get a Frosty Broadsword of Peace for under a million trias...Another one of Sov's memorable traits is his abrupt AFKness, which would frequently resurface during crucial RPs, or in the middle of a conversation. Many a time would he be gone for hours only to return with the "took a shower" or "went to get some food" excuse. Or even more commonly, the "afjad;lgkhaldhfkg" messages that would tell us he had once more fallen asleep on his keyboard. :D

We miss you Sov!

We miss your money even more!

Makita
Ahhh Makita, I didn't know him for long, but I can still remember the many nights in which he would enter guildchat with so much alchohol in his system that he would struggle to type the word "lol". Makita,  I miss you, you left too soon! :D

Thyme
Thyme was, in my opinion, the reason people went to the Tavern! She almost always had a drink in her hand and a man on her arm. Upon entering the Tavern you would most likely see her surrounded by a throng of people, men and women alike; for while she was quite the "seductress" she was also a great friend, and a great drinker to boot!

Lexa
Lexa was a petite Nolthrir, small even for her race, but stolid as a kran. She was one of a kind, even in the Thieves, being that she was one of only two character who specialized as a Con Artist. While she was not much of a fighter, she was stronger than most when it came to spirit.

Sengus
I remember Sengus because he was the first person who taught me proper PS etiquette, and most importantly, the /me command!

There are many more players that I never really knew, but I miss them all the same, because they put the RP into PS

Setill
Narita
Proglin
Killiy
Anfa
Satayne

He went "too busy" with his real life job, if I remember right; therefore e.g. "Ulf the moose" became arts leader.

Hey wow, I was mentioned here!  Although only once and about a year and a half ago.  I just want to say hey to everyone here who might still remember me.  I've been very busy (studying at a university), and well, haven't had time for games.  It's kind of sad that the Blitzers don't seem to be around anymore.  And Steel Blue is out! Wow! I remember running around looking for crystals in Molecular Blue...

Hope everyone is doing well!

(P.S. I can't believe I was registered on this board during 2003.  O.o)

I remember Theorex but not in a good way. From what I heard though he reformed his woeful ways since our meeting.

Bah, I was young then, I quit for bout a year then wanted to play again, I thought I'd start off fresh beans there were quite a few people who didn't like Theorex, anyway I'm still playing Planeshift, just as a different character, and no I'm not gonna say who.

It made me feel good to hear this:
Quote
WHO FORGOT THEOREX!!! SHAME ON YOU ALL!!!

I didn't think anybody would miss him, but even so, I'm not gonna bring him back in a hurry.

· Eolius:
Some posts are easier to make than others. This is one of the difficult.
During the time you're playing this game, you interact with several different people. Each one tends to form their preferred people, those with whom they feel more comfortable with, with whom they've more fun, etc. Each one using a different criteria to conform those groups.
In that sense I had some pillars. Three. Here's one of them. Three has been since long used as a mystical/magic number. Perhaps it is because in maths it's said that three points define a plane. This then means that a structure set on three pillars is meant to be stable. Maybe inclined, but stable. Such a pain saving for unbalanced desks and chairs. But it's not that I had in mind that, to decide to have three, it just happened that way.

Some maybe remember Eolius due to having become a GM, as this was his last status in the game. I'm sure that, whichever his tasks were, he fulfilled them proficiently. :)
Some others might recall that, prior to that, he founded a guild named "Protectors". Perhaps the guild isn't very much alive nowadays, so maybe less people will remember him due to that fact.
And finally, maybe a shorter amount of people remembers him from the time he was with no guild at all. And good that such a period existed, for hadn't it been so, I might have not met him. Protectors was, once, a populated guild. And its naming was a bit... singular. Probably it would have recalled me too much to Defenders as to consider it not very original naming. ^^
It was much better, however (and lucky me!), to meet Eolius before that. In that initial period where everything is to be learned, and those you meet, unexperienced as you, become some sort of a classmate.
It's always good to find clever and fun to talk to guys in this process. Makes the path much more enjoyable.
It is also pleasant to see that those walking that path do not only care about their own steps but that at the same time, care about others pace, to be together in the route. Tisouril's quest resolution process and Haggnah's chapters come to mind as to back, respectively, the previous statements.

I guess it was of justice, and perhaps a bit of my own duty to make this "Eolius was here" statement. No need of toilet doors. ;D

I wanted to finish  the post with a song reference. I guess it rounds it slightly, and makes it a bit more special. I've searched through the songs you sent me, Eolius, and I must say I've not found in them what I was looking for. I guess they're also somewhat unfitting in a post like this ^^. I'm not that good at choosing songs, and it's not been easy to find something that I would consider fitting enough. Probably you'll see it mushy :P

For Eolius had wings, and one of your hobbies was very close to flying: "James Blunt - High".

Seytra: When someone gets lost and needs to orientate again, searches for something that differs from the surroundings, something particular to act as a reference point. Of course if that point remains as static as possible, all the better. Tropic birds, then, are discarded.

This all applies to geolocation, but the same rules might apply to people ideologies.
In that sense, Seytra did act like an extremely valid orientation point regarding concepts and ideologies towards the roleplay.
If there was meant to be a Seytra scale, as there is Richter's, it would be somewhat special; a circular form where the extremes "too far" or "too near" from Seytra's mean (no pun intended) pov would mean the same: danger.
Probably more dangerous the one "too far", though ^^

Having a talk with Seytra regarding any aspect of the "roleplay world" was always enriching. It certainly might not reach an agreement but it has to be admitted that Seytra's positions were always set in their own reasons. Weather or not one could agree with them, denying that there was a logic mechanism behind them would be unfair.
Of course, it can be argued, that it was Seytra's logic. True, so far. But Seytra kept being consistent and consequent towards that logic, most of the time. Being then coherent.

It is also rare that people who has set, so firmly, those ideas wishes to share them in an open talk. Somehow we managed to achieve that point. Maybe it had something to do our first encounter, not precisely ideal, but that got fixed thanks to the mutual position of talking about it.
Besides that, Seytra knew to transmit those believings to other people. That is, not only knew the own opinion regarding a given topic, but also knew how to put it into words, so that others saw the point. And then blame and disagree, sometimes. ^^

I've been about to remark, too, about the game character you had. For it was different, and, as such, somehow particular and special from the common. However, I think I've said enough regarding about the person, that in the end is what matters, and for I think the person was already special and important on its own, the character reference becomes accessory.

· Tisouril:
Time now for the second of those pillars.
What can I say?
At least, that I hope you're doing alright man. Your vanishing hasn't gone quite as expected, I must admit. And I doubt this is one of your tricks just to find out which song I had in mind for you in this thread, is it? ^^

There are plenty of nice memories attached to your name, and mainly just one that has that bitter taste, but far from your fault. Probably you already know what I'm talking about. Your quest. It has been one of the most innovative, fresh and smart creations I ever found in the game. Keeping that for a such small group didn't seem fair to me. Others had to also experience that same fun and rush, or at least have the chance to. I had to spread it. And I did. Everyone I talked to about it, received it with open arms, and it couldn't be in another way, for just by looking at it there was the suspicion that something great might lie beneath. However, to my big disappointment, few did actually start the quest itself. So far, only Gellule took it at heart and tried to complete it. He was enjoying it very much; apparently that sort of riddles were amongst the ones he liked the most. And he reached close to solve it. Maps got changed and, with that, his chances to complete it vanished at the same time that the quest lost all of its sense and charm.

The good moments start just since the first meeting. That mushroom game/tease with Shil involved, inside the forest, remains clearly in memory. Tisouril and mushroom concepts became attached since that day ^^
Together with Thyrion, yours was the other herbalist character I ever had the chance to meet. Knowing, afterwards, how much care and self-exigence you put into everything you did, the character's profession chose became more sense full and made me think that you would have ended up performing a great character, different from the rest due to its innovation in the items he used and its effects. His presence became an important addition to my own character, because their relationship gave me lots of tools with which to play (as if I was the herbalist ;) ) such as the vial carrier or others.
It's also satisfying to remember how both of us went improving into the ways of playing, in sense of acquiring more abilities in what roleplay was meant to be, experimenting and seeing in the other one the evolution one wishes to have done too.
As for outside the game, you know I've enjoyed each and every message and I tried to return, amplified, the good feelings on each of them. I've gladly lost those "image battles" we've had in the same measure that you lost... oh wait, that wouldn't be very elegant from my side to say, in a post like this. :P

I'm lacking words. They feel unnecessary, accessory. I hope nothing of what I said strikes you as surprising shall you ever read this, because I tried my acts to speak for me before this words were written. They're just here because I believe this is the way it has to be; I feel more comfortable this way. Certain people shouldn't pass and go unnoticed. You won't be forgotten.

It's been my pleasure, Tisouril.

And the song:
I've been tempted to use one of those you recommended me. It's title is suitable. But that was your own work, and I didn't want to elude the task of finding something unique for you. Let's see if it makes you justice.
I've seen, through this thread and my talk with people, some reluctance towards the thread title. Certainly, having the "RIP" in there seems to put readers (and writers) in a sort of a "funeral" mood. However, not all cultures deal with that in the same way. Some even play cheerful songs.
So... which type of song is meant to be cheerful?
Say yours.
Gospel? It ties too easily with what I said to introduce the topic. :)

I came up with Samba. Don't shiver yet. ^^
The song I chose might not go as far, but quite.

"Jorge Ben Jor - Fio Maravilha"
Here you've the links to it, for I assume you won't have it.
It comes three flavoured. Two live versions plus an acoustic one that I'm sure you'll like.

Link 1: http://www.mediafire.com/?cdyhc1jyxjb

Link 2: http://www.mediafire.com/?ueljt6njsyl

Link 3: http://www.mediafire.com/?xsglcmnx19s

As you go downloading, I've time to explain a bit more about my election. I think the song does succeed on breaking the mood a thread like this might inspire to anyone reading; from that side I think it is accomplished. But the song had to have something more, for it to become the one for you. It seems the song lyric itself is a tribute:
A tribute to a cracking player, just like you.

This is probably the hardest post I will ever write. I have put so much thought into it. So many people have helped me in game, but one stands out above the rest: Einnol.  The old saying, "You don't know how good you got it until it is gone" is so true.

Einnol took the time for me. He was always in a hurry to do something for someone, but when he saw me there was always time to chat. He was like family to me. I miss him so much.

I hope that you see this Einnol and realize how much you are missed and one day, just maybe, hopefully, you will return to us.

You made this game so much fun and you helped so many people. I hope you know all of Yliakum who knew you miss you dearly.
/me walks away with my head bowed in sadness for the loss of such a dear friend.

Many thanks, Mathy, for such great words. We all remember Einnol as a great guild leader and friend. Especially the Knowledge Seekers enjoyed him as external student of the Stonebreaker language, which he supported up to his guild's name.

But that leads to an even greater loss: Arka Garam. I am so much afraid that her sickness {see: Arka's Return III - the Reckoning} was just the bad omen we all did not recognise. Noone knows where our presidior is. Noone knows how to continue the Knowledge Seekers university. {And noone knows if she (as player) is still somewhere out there...}

In deep mourning

Dean, acting vice presidior

The first friend Monala made, Pathyn. I don't know if he just logs in at a different time than I do, plays an alt, or what's going on there (his name's always red on my BL these days), but I liked his character a lot. Monala really looked up to him. I'd been hoping we could continue roleplaying and develop some plotline out of it, but he kinda vanished. If his player's reading this, I'd appreciate being contacted. I miss ya.

I think back to my first days here, years ago and remember when I met Arka for the very first time. She was so kind to me and generous. I still have the perfect dagger she gave me. I will always cherish those memories and be glad of those days. It makes me sad to think that Einnol and Arka are gone, but it makes me happy that at least I had the pleasure to have met them. These two dwarfs were very important to me and helped me become the dwarf I am today. May they Rest In Peace.

Well, I'm rezing this topic just because, its something we should remember. Many names I know in this thread, and wish to re add some names. And if anyone knows how to get ahold of, or still talks to these folks, let them know they are truly missed.

Sirunie (Looseye?) One of the first to take me under his "wing" as it were. Gave me tria and help when I needed it most.
His wife, Aoura, just their Presence alone was RP in and of itself.

Narcal Burningblade One of the most Powerful Klyros I have ever met, gave me weapons when I had none, and also introduced me just by his presence to many other friends.

Constrabus Gegami. Friend and Fellow mage of the old days.

Javeroal. Fellow explorer and right hand man, kept me alive during the Great Klyros Plague.

There are others, but these stand above most for me, these are some of the ancients that I wish would return.

and though this may bring me flames and curses from the "gods", I do miss the Lady Verrliit, I still talk with her, but wish she could come back. Was a very good RP'er.

@Dragonis: Yes, Looseye

I miss all of my former Rangers of Yliakum :( For a short list of those I remember best:

Ralarssenth (I still have hopes she'll return)
Myrthe
Kallis (My original first member in the Rangers of Yliakum. He was my second in command for the longest time)
Isra
Beanius (most of you likely will not remember this character, from the Dwarvesbane-Dwarven Star war)
Peeg (okay, so he's still around, but he's never IG or anything... Oddly, I'm not sure he and Farren have met in a LONG time...)

Others I miss:

Karyuu: I only ever got to RP with Karyuu a few times in PS, but I miss her in general. I considered her a friend, and she was a great contributor to PS development and to the community.

Zorbels: I thought she returned? :( I haven't seen her ingame unless she goes by another character and I didn't know...?

Satayne: Hand in hand with Zorbs

Phinehas: He left again :( I enjoyed the guy, though he seemed to hate me >.>

Kind of returned, just around the forums ATM. I was planning a return but I had issues with installing planeshift and other things have kept me from having time to play. I really wanted to start up my portrait studio again but my computer is retarded. I am having a heck of a time using any program let alone photoshop (and I lost all my screeni's so this also didn't help my cause). That being said I decided to start a new character and I am writing a background story for her. I plan on playing planeshift for a couple of hours each week once my computer is running a little better (have to send it to a techy). It is just a matter of finding the time.

It's good to see you still around Farren. I hadn't known that you had returned! O.o *Big hugs

The three people who I hung out with the most before they left Planeshift. They can be described as cool to know and chill with.

I`ll add Zephan and his wife Caluna to the list. I remember him being a great aid to Giroum, introducing his nolthrir love and Giroum eventually conducting their wedding up at the cave lake.

Tinwei misses her fuzzy friend.

Orathon...first person I met I think. Fosovos misses her fuzzy friend <-old Klyros char.

Does it count if I miss my own characters? I still have them, just haven't used them for a long time XD

Vayl/Euli, still around, but not on PS :( Tinwei misses her second fuzzy friend.

Cillie err Cilly (however we spell it XD)...oh how much mischief Cillie, Euli, and Tinwei caused XD good times. She apparently forgot her own password last time I saw her...but that was like 3 months ago or something lol.

TINWEI MISSES ALL HER FUZZY FRIENDS! :'(

@ Talad:

See, even you as experienced forum user did not find them... - so how should new users? ;) ;)

Unfortunately, from my experience, "Sticky" threads are the most ignored threads in any forum. Still, it might be useful to have one (e.g. with capital title) to welcome newcomers and suggest other threads in the Newbie forum (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?board=1.0) (which is, unfortunately, placed rather low in the list of forums). You see that some newcomers start all their own threads.

The welcoming thread might probably contain links to the player guide (in the web and in the forum) as well as some personal threads (although I wonder if "Faces behind players" should be renamed, it doesn't really make sense) and collections (e.g. RPers find RPers).

Just anecdotal, from my own experience... When I first started playing I was lucky to have a real life friend sit next to me and help me figure stuff out. {2 years ago...} I did the tutorial but this was the first game like this I had ever played 'cause before that I didn't have a computer that would handle graphics at all. About 5 times of playing, my friend moved on to {a hush falls over the thread as he whispers "Second Life"} :innocent:

I did the PS tutorial but remember it as being... well, confusing, 'cause I wasn't even acquainted with any of the lingo, conventions or expectations of a game like this. In that tutorial I don't think I was given anything to start out with... no tria, no blades, nada. I was on my own.

I didn't even find the forums or think about registering for the forums until months and months after I started playing. It didn't occur to me that there was anything useful here. In my blissful newbie-ness, I assumed everything I really needed was to be found in game.

Now, of course I read the threads and even search them for answers from time to time, but my point is that sometimes newbies really are NEW. New to this whole idea, this whole experience.

So here in this thread, we are honoring the ones before us, in game, who took the time, energy and niceness to help the clueless like me 'explore the depths' as the motto says. In a way I wish there was an automatiic newbie guild that new players would be connected to right off. Who would, like GMs, be there to answer questions and help folks get started, but who would be in avatars in game.

For the ones before me who did that, {a couple of who are still playing!} I want to thank:
Monala
Dragonis
Barike
Dipner
Andoryn
Amaymon
Gell
Siteya
Irri
Solemnus
Amaneldth
and many others who just stopped and said "Can I help you?"

Thanks guys.

I miss Dragonis a lot too Dracaeon, and not just because he's my Brother. He is the player who taught me the lore, the story of the klyros' plague as told IC terms and how it affected him and his guild and friends. And because of his stories we were able to develop deep, ongoing rps that involved lots of players and spontaneous and planned events, conflict, deception, secrets, commitments, families ties, and darn it, f@#$ load of fun! :woot:
He pops in from time to time.
I wish we could make an 'old timer event when some of the ones like him come back and tell us all stories of the old days, while we sit around and drink! ::|

Hmmm that gives RR and idea!..... ;D

Gidelor-My first friend IG, and one of my best friends IRL, still bugging him to get back on :)

Celisugh-The kindest and most patient dwarf I've ever met, he taught me essentially how to play the game

Lifaeen-The craziest mage I'm ever likely to meet

Rileha- Black-furred Fenki with a kind heart, haven't seen her on in over 2 years now, hope all is well

Lhaa and Aiwendil- Not much needs to be said about these two, seeing how well-known they are, but I miss you too, hope you are reading this! :)

Grunior- A very kind (and smelly) dwarf, with a great sense of humor, miss you a heap, old friend

Morila- Who chatted me up when we both got bored, happened very frequently, although I saw you on the other day, so keep coming back!

Skardellinus- The greatest Guild Eldest Ever, legendary RP's...

Taradiddle-  Witty mage with a great presence in game, miss you a lot, Taradiddle

AND lastly, MEKORA- Who i KNOW is reading this, get your lazy, blue addlepated kormi online!! Caraick misses his brother!!!  ;D

Probably will be my last post in the forum, as I have completely lost interest in this game (sorry!) :(

~Obviously my two chars, Tinwei and Suati. They'll be characters I'll remember forever.
~Fosovos, first char I made. Found little RP with her so I deleted her and tried again.
~Lhaa-For being a great roleplayer (and always giving Tin pie ^_^)
~Aiwendil-Loved the little family you created! I enjoyed playing with you =)
~Geoni-Kra Geo! Long time friend and will still be.
~Orathon-Met a few times when I began to play, was a nice friend until he dropped off the grid for a while.
~Kabelil-Heh, two newbs having a good time. First friend I made here! Lost contact with him after getting rid of Fosovos.
~Vayl/Euli-Oh my gosh the love/hate relationship we have XD a crazy and fun friend until problems with the new client forced her to stop playing. Will always keep you in mind ;)

If you weren't mentioned, it probably means I've forgotten your name, but I still remember you ;)

Here's one more apple pie to my last goodbye.
Tinwei noms half the apple pie before waving to the reader. "Ga'bye! See ya lata Miss or Mista!"
Suati calmly eats a slice of pie before facing the reader and speaking in her flat odd-sounding voice. "It was nice to meet you once more. May our paths cross again."

This is Dral, signing out.
