:o Hydlaa's first* Serial Killer! :o
Zhai approaches Harnquist's shop. The merchant is busy as always yet she manages to get his attention out of his wares for a few minutes.
- Harn! I need a favor from you- she says, and before he gets a chance to answer, she goes on, lowering her voice- There's a... serial killer in Hydlaa- Harn's eyes widen as he instinctively grabs his pouch of coins to protect it.
- It's important that you warn your customers and keep an eye out for a strange klyros. He seems to lure his victims from this part of town or where newcomers can be found easily and take them to the sewers... where he murders them.- she explains.
- Oh, m'lady! I'm afraid I have no recollection of such a person around here!- He says- I'm afraid I'm too good at ignoring conversations that are not mine to hear... after all, I don't know why so many people come over here to talk! I'm a smith and this is my shop, not a pub or restaurant for bards and drunks! And that is a real problem! People always come here for conversation... pffft, I come here for trias! If you don't talk to me about that, I'm not listening! Anyways, eyesdropping is such a nasty habit...
- Well, could you at least warn you customers? The killer seems to target newcomers, offering them a great reward. Zorbels and I are looking into it and we've received the support of the Vaal Guard as well. All I'm asking is that you spread the word... otherwise you're going to lose all your customers!
Having said this, Harnquist raises an eyebrow and gives her a consenting nod. Then, he turns his attention back at his shop. Zhai starts turning around but then stops and looks back at the smith:
- One more thing! If you hear anyone talking about this, tell them to look for Zorbels, The Protectors, The Vaal Guard or myself and the Rangers of Yliakum -Harnquis shakes his head quickly as it seems that too many names too fast are hard to handle, yet he manages to listen to the rest of Zhai's words- We are all collaborating to find out more about this killer. Most importantly: if you meet any of his victims, tell them that we need their statements.
- Alright, alright: suspicious klyros offering great rewards, killing people... by the gods! Can I make a living now?- he replies. Zhai nods, not sure if having talked with Harnquist is going to be of any help at all but until the victims come forward or they learn more about this strange klyros there little else she can do.
[OOC: :o Watch out for the "Killer of the sewers"! Everyone's invited to participate in this RP. Just look for the characters mentioned and if you have been a victim, send us a /tell or PM so we can meet in game or, if that can't happen, reply to this post in-character telling your story. News and discoveries will be posted as the investigations reveal them.]
EDIT: :detective:
[It is VERY important that all victims ignore the name hanging above the killer's head... PLEASE! it's supposed to be hard to figure out who this killer is! fortunately, nobody has yelled out "IT'S <NAME>!!!" yet... but let's just try to keep it that way. thank you!][/b]
* Not necessarily the first, we'd have to double check that... but probably the first this year :P. PM me for edits hehe...

[OOC - I just wanted to express that I love this idea for a roleplay.
PLease keep in mind though if you are new to this roleplay that this was not my idea. I have been kindly invited to join in on this and have accepted. I have no knowledge at this point as to who, why, or where this klyros killer is. I currently have roleplayed out finding out about the serial killer in the plaza and taking on the responsibility of talking to the shady characters in planeshift to find out if anyone knows anything. This is ALL I know. PLease do NOT send me /tells asking for information. As the story goes on I will post here in a roleplaying manner as to what I have found out.]
[IC] Zorbels approaches the gaurds at the gates. "Hello gentleman. Could you please let the general public know about this serial killer that has been running lose in Hydlaa and ask the families to have their children stay close to home and not have them venture out into the wilds or to far from home. We don't have a pattern as of yet as to what this serial killer looks for in a victim, but I don't want to take any chances. Zorbels hands them flyers as they nods silently in agreement. "Pass these out, I had them made today. They give a select amount of information to the public about this situation. I would liked to have added more but as a friend pointed out, this could drive the serial killer to go under ground. So we must be careful how much the general public knows, as we don't want to start a panic." Zorbels bows and turns to leave. She calls over her shoulder "Thank you gentleman for your time."
Zorbels begins the search and decides to drop in unannouced to some of her more "shady" friends to ask some questions.
-
Idoru enters, head bowed slightly. He mumbles in a low growling voice, 'I believe I have met this Klyros you speak of, the vampiric beast persuaded me to follow him in the sewers, I did, in the hope of assisting him in his quest to find a treasure greater than any in the whole of Yliakum'
'It now seems obvious that this was a ruse, My greed got the better of me and I got what I had deserved, not endless riches but death in the most humiliating of circumstances'
'I warn you all, avoid the sewers at all costs and trust no-one'

*Jekkar shakes his head*
"This is not a common criminal we are dealing with, Vaalguard reports show that."
"We will do everything in our power to catch this killer with the help of the Rangers and Protectors"
-
/me stands at the plaza hearing at zhai telling about a serial killer preying on the weak and thinks "truly he haven't heard the guardians doesn't like thoose preying on the week"

Spetyco had just left Hydlaa and was heading out to see Levrus at the Magic Shop when a stranger approached him.
"Excuse me, sir," he said. "Would you know the way to the windy hills?"
"Windy hills," Spetyco ponders, "that name doesn't reing a bell. Could you describe it for me?"
"It's a hill that is supposed to have a great view of Hydlaa."
"Oh! I think I know what you're talking about, though I have yet to hear it called by that name before."
"Names come and go," the stranger says.
"There are some cliffs overlooking Hydlaa, does that sound like the place? I could take you there if you like."
"Yes, that sounds like the place, and I would appreciate the help."
So the ever trusting Spetyco decided to show the stranger the way.
When they arrived to their destination on the secluded hillside Spetyco noticed the stranger had an odd look in his eye. At this point Spetyco took a moment to look the stranger over. Later on he couldn't remember as much about what the stranger looked like as much as what he felt like. He couldn't really describe it, but there was definitely something dark about this stranger. What he did remember is that he was a Klryos and he had a scroll tucked under his belt with a list of names. It was as Spetyco was noticing the list when the stranger spoke, "Thank you for your help, and what was your name?"
"My name is Spetyco, and what is yours."
At that moment the stranger leaped on Spetyco, daggers in hand. He was powerful and quickly killed Spetyco. He then slit Spetyco's wrists and began to drink his blood. When he was finished he carved a spiral symbol on his chest and added the name Spetyco to his list.

Zhai walks up to to a group gathered by the fountain. She skips the formalities as the matters at hand are urgent. "Greetings. We are looking for the victims of a... serial killer in the area. We are trying to find those he's sent to the death realm to get all the testimonies. We know little of this killer. He is a klyros, wielding daggers. He lures victims to secluded places offering them a reward or asking for help and then attacks them viciously. Please, if you hear anyone talk about him or having been attacked by him, please let me know. And do not wander alone out there. I'll appreciate any information. Look for me, Zhai, of the Rangers of Yliakum; Zorbels, from the Protectors; or the Vaal Guard if you see someone matching the description or any of his victims". The small crowd look at her with a hint of disbelief but she makes it clear with a piercing look that she's very serious about it and as she turns around to walk away, she finally adds: "And do not go after him alone. It's too dangerous without all the information. We need the victims to come forward." As she leaves, a flyer falls on the grownd with the portrait of the suspect...

[So far, victims identified have been: Spetyco, Idoru and Weredal. All "victims" are invited to come forth and RP. Give your testimony in-game and post it here. Everyone interested in catching the killer can go look for him at their own risk. However, we're encouraging the newcomers targeted by the killer to participate in the RP so look for them and get their stories. Again, you're free to tell everyone all that your characters know and everyone (but not the name of the killer, of course) and everyone's welcome to participate. Just keep in mind that the objective is to catch that killer not to scare him away yelling "<name>'s the killer" or "we're coming for you!", etc. Finally, if you find out something try to inform the rest through the chat channel in game before sending /tells. We're trying to keep this as IC as possible. Posting info here should only come after it's been shared In-Game or if you can't find anyone at the moment (basically to keep a record and have the story updated for those who haven't been on). If something can be said in game and in character, then let's try to do it that way. Go roleplay!]

'Miadon upon hearing about this killer went on his own search to hunt him down, while searching the sewers he found many and warned them and asked them about the klyros. He even found some Klyros' but they were not the killer, but when he told one xacha about the klyros, A klyros wearing some armour came up running behind the xacha. Miadon cried out: "Oi, Klyros!", the klyros ran, Miadon followed trying to catch up, the Klyros almost lost Miadon, but then the Klyros stopped, before Miadon could even say or do anything the Klyros leaped and knocked Miadon down with one strike, Miadon who was still just breathing felt the klyros bite into him and suck his blood, miadon vaguely heard some last words before his soul was sent to the Death Realm. Altough unsure of the exact words he thought they sounded like: " Dennor, Angomarch, Gerhoth, Gu..." Miadons body died before the last word was heard. His soul luckily found tis way out of the Death Realm, when reentering his body, Miadon went straight to Hydlaa to see if he could find some inspectors to tell, he could not so instead yelled out telling people about the klyros and giving warnings. Some listening to his warnings others ignored it and decided to go to the sewers to look for themselves."
PART 2:
"Miadon wanting to help decided to look again for the klyros, so prepared himself for anothe encounter, again he warned others down there of the klyros, upon trying to find him, he found a group of black robed strangers [see thieves vs vespers] who seemed to be upto something, but they ordered Miadon to leave, but Miadon warned them of the klyros, altough they seem pre-occupied with something else. Miadon wondered on until he saw the klyros again, Miadon had a better look of the klyros before he ran, The klyros chased after him, Miadon shouted for help, but the black robed strangers ignored it. So Miadon was on his own to escape, which he managed to. Miadon on his quick observation of the klyros noticed that the Klyros wore a belt with a piece of paper attached wich contain names, including his, Miadon believes that this is a list of names of yliakians he has killed."
-
"I caught a glimpse of him..." Siteri declares. "Another Klyros (this one female) later claimed to know his name, but I'm skeptical... he wouldn't give that out, would he?"
-
[not at this point. we're trying to keep the mystery. so for those who have seen the killer but not talked to him, AGAIN: PLEASE, YOU'RE FREE TO JOIN, HUNT HIM DOWN, TALK TO HIM OR ABOUT HIM, BUT DON'T SPOIL GIVING AWAY HIS NAME. In other words: ignore the name tag. thank you. ;D]

me walks upto zhai and tell her that he took a party to the sewers to look for this killer. The party consisted of himself, Gwinn, Eid and dejoweon. I bilieve we have locatet the killers hideout he stays in the sewers in an underwater place. After tracking him it is apparent that he knows the sewers well and that he wont be easy to trap. however if we get enough ppl it may be posible. Alliva then bows and hands zhai a crude map that dejoweon made the map shows that you take 2 turns to the right and that you will come to the klyos's hideout.
-
Aregul walked away from Harnquest, shaking his head slightly, another fruitless night of searching the streets, of combing the sewers, and all he had was a piece of cloth that might not even be the killers! He looked up to the sky, seeing it brighten slowly. Sighing he put up one last poster in the plaza that read in flowing writing:
'Citizens of Hydlaa, please report any odd activity involving a Klyos to the Vaalguard, the Protectors, or to the Rangers Of
Yliakum. It is advised that all citizens avoid the sewers at all costs. If someone does ask you to follow them into the
sewers, report it to the proper authorities immediately! This is for your protection.'
Aregul finished putting up the poster and took one last look around before heading for the guard barracks.

Ever since his encounter with the strange klyros, Spetyco has been overcome by weakness. "I seem to spend more time in the Death Realm then amongst the living," he thinks to himself after finding himself there again after having been killed by a tefusang. "I used to be able to slay one of those creatures with relative ease. That klyros must have done something to me."
He travels the path through the Death Realm and comes to the library. He then turns towards the chamber across from the library where the dark crystal resides. There are two ynnwn in the room. He walks up to the one closest to the Dark Crystal. "Excuse me"
"What do you want, Mortal?" the ynnwn bellows.
"I was looking for some answers about a particular ritual involving the drinking of blood."
"I don't have time for such things, Mortal. Now move along! I don't have patience for the likes of you."
"Sorry," Spetyco mutters then quickly leaves, stumbling as he exits the chamber and falling into the darkness.
"Hmph! Ouch! That hurt," Spetyco mutters to himself as he lands. "Well, he may not have time for me, but I know someone around here who has lots of time on his hands." With that Spetyco gets up and goes to see his old nemisis, Aphtarin. Aphtarin was imprisoned in the Death Realm by Talad himself after an attempt to destroy Talad with power from the Dark Crystal. Spetyco freed Aphtarin, naively trusting him only to later find out his true nature when Aptharin killed Spetyco's adopted parents. It was then with the help of some new friends, that he was able to re-imprison Aphtarin. The strange thing is, Aphtarin and Spetyco are identical, and Spetyco has yet to discover the reason for this.
"Ah! There you are! How have you been, Aphtarin."
He spits at Spetyco's feet, "You seem to be visiting the Death Realm a lot lately. Are you so eager for my company? Or have had a visit by a certain klyros? Maybe one that had a taste for your blood?"
"How did you know about that?"
"That is not your concern! Though I am happy to see you here again! Perhaps if you let me out I could help you?"
"I don't think so, Aphtarin. You won't fool me so easily again. Tell me what you know of this klyros."
"I will tell you once I am back in Hydlaa."
"Then I will have to find the answers on my own. Goodbye!" And with that Spetyco turns and heads back to the realm of the living.
"You'll be back, fool!"
Spetyco turns around, "Next time I come back, I will bring that filthy klyros here with me. Maybe you would like a cellmate!"

Boaal is musing to himself of this killer. A klyros that huants the sewers...
He laughs at the coincidence that just as he would take to the sewers so much lately a serial Killer would use them. Boaal was alerted of this violent Klyros when hunting down Gobble's. After the story he directed the seeker deeper into the sewers, if a Killer was to hide, he would seek more dark and perilouse places out of desperation.
Either way Boaal doesnt care. Other will come and others will go. As long as this Klyros doesnt attempt to kill him, he will not care about the Klyros....
However... the adventure sounds good. Even if this Klyros can kill him with ease, he would at least like a reason to take a break from the daily grind.
The Kran stands up and heads towards the sewrrs, his axes glinting. Money, adventure, blood.
Amusment.

Zhai approaches Jayose with a small piece of paper, where four words can be read:
"Daennor Angamarath Gorhoth Guliant"
[/size]
- These are the words chanted by the Klyros in his foul ritual- she says to the librarian- We learned this thanks to a vision Einnol had of the killer... Can they be translated?
- I do not know, m'lady... it seems rather cryptic... or arcane. Have you checked with Levrus? Certainly there's magic of the darkest sorts related to this- replied Jayose.
- I have, yes and many citizens are also lending a hand. We do not know if it's a strange language from another realm [latin?] or not...
- I cannot put my trias on it but there are certain similarities to an ancient root of elven dialect. Maybe if you break the particles... "Dae" for instance... I think I have a book here...- he adds as he turns and runs his fingers through the backs of the many books on his shelves. He mutters words Zhai doesn't bother to listen to. She sits down and sighs, watching the old man rush to get an answer. "Tis going to be a long night...", she says to herself.
[the spell can be translated indeed. do your best! we need to figure out its meaning!]

Unar returns to wander the roads of Yliakum, after speaking with Zhai and offering her blade.
She considers the rumors she's been hearing, "So, murderer, you keep a list. I wager my list of Klyros is far longer.."
-
Sitting at Kada's after a long day of fruitless search, Zhai finally takes a moment to rest along Indygo, talking about other things less disturbing than the serial killer. Suddenly an agitated and nervous Marqsaynt enters looking for her. He bares a story that catches Zhai's attention. "I have a message for you, Lady of the Rangers, from the killer". Indygo and Zhai look at each other sharing the same suspicion. "Speak", the ranger says. "Not here, these walls have ears". After several minutes of incertitude Marqsaynt decides it's too dangerous to speak so openly and takes a leave and Indygo and Zhai go back to their business.
A few minutes later, the bounty hunter returns. This time he tells the story of a lost son being threatened by the killer and his obligation to deliver the message: "He waits for you under the city, in the sewers. I can take you there". "You saw the killer... then you must have an accurate description. I'm sure that in your line of business a brief conversation is enough to catch the smallest details", she replies. "Well, lady ranger, all klyros look the same to me...", he answers. Zhai gives Marqsaynt a long silent look and Marqsaynt finds himself having to elaborate his anwer: "Well, he had... swords, I think... two of them, short... and he was creepy... I'm afraid for my family, you see? He'll kill them!". Zhai's face remains indiferent as she ponders Marqsaynt's words. "If the killer is in the sewers I shall find him. I know my way arround pretty well down there. You should use your bounty hunter skills to track your son and ensure his safety", she concludes. From a table, Indygo nods in agreement.
Marqsaynt insists yet the lady is firm. "Go now, Marqsaynt, and be calm. I will let you know what we learn. Maybe there's a bounty you need to collect. That'll keep your mind busy". "What I need is a drink!", replies the bounty hunter with a hint of frustration. Zhai and Indygo finish with their drinks and decide to go see Harnquist. On the way, Zhai shares his suspicions. "He's lying". Indygo nods. "A bounty hunter afraid to die, with a lost child and concerned about my safety?", she asks with a grin to which Indygo responds with a chuckle. "Besides, having met two bounty hunters in two days makes me thing I'm the target of a bounty". Indygo raises a brow: "What?". "Yes, I don't think Unar is not to be trusted in this case... but seeing her yesterday and Marqsaynt today makes it more difficult for Marqsaynt to be solid with his story... and speaking of Vodul...". Indygo turns to see Marqsaynt standing by the stairs. He holds his shortswords and runs towards them. "I guess I'm going to have make myself clearer", he says, holding his blade against the ranger. "Tired of your little games? I didn't believe a word you said". "I'm not an actor". "Well, you wasted my time and I don't appreciate that. So, if you have a bounty to collect lets get this over with. But not here, outside the city". "Agreed". "I expect an honorable duel, bounty hunter", warns the lady of the rangers.
A few steps and they are all outside the city. Nyramael and Biruno happen to see the discussion and walk with them to witness the fight. Indygo doesn't put his hands away from his axes should the bounty hunter try another trick. "Ready?", he asks and Zhai nods. Marqsaynt charges with violence but with no effect. Sooner than he expected he's on the ground bleeding to death. Zhai approaches and coldly tells him: "Next time, don't waste my time...". In his mind he tells himself "I won't give up until I collect my bounty".
Indygo praises his friend and takes his leave. Biruno does the same, leaving Nyramael and the ranger alone. "So, this killer wanted my head and he hired someone to do it... doesn't sound quite right, she thinks". Nyramael's eyes widen as Marqsaynt approaches again, this time in silence. He yelps but the lady is caught too deep in her thoughts to notice the hunter until it's too late.
"I never give up", says Marqsaynt outloud and Zhai finds herself in the death realm again. She curses her overconfidence but then comes back to her last thoughts: "This klyros doesn't match the description nor the ways of the serial killer we've been following... a copycat? an ally? Maybe the killer isn't working alone after all..."
[interesting twist. another suspect to look for: another klyros with short swords and lots of money to hire bounty hunters! :woot:]
-
A stranger walks up to Myrthe. "Hello, fellow Klyros! I have an offer for you."
"Hmmm, what offer would that be?" Myrthe answers.
"I have recently discovered a new mining area deep within the sewers. Follow me to see." The stranger lies.
I knew there wasnt anything of the sort but it sounded interesting, so i followed him, just to see where it would go.
We went down turned a corner right, then too the next two lefts. There were bars there but, being slender, we both fit through quite easily. We went past one of the strange machines with a bar over the path, then through more bars. There was a pit filled with mist or fog and he told me to follow him into it.
As soon as i jumped down i saw that something was wrong.
He immediately attacked me and killed me, for he was stronger than i anticipated and he had the element of surprise. He then, as Spetyco said, he slit my wrists and drank my blood. Then, he opened the old wound in my chest and took the blood. He then did some strange ritual with it.
[OOC- This is gonna be pretty cool! -OOC]

Zorbels hums happily to herself a song she learned from Proglin as she approaches the magic shop. She stops to pick up a dagger left on the road. "How odd." she replys quietly to herself. "I wonder why someone would just leave this here." She looks the dagger over and realises the tip is stained with blood. She decides it must have been dropped from a hunter who was on their way to the magic shop. Zorbels continues down the rocky road and reaches the magic shop. There she notes a klyros speaking with a dwarf and nods to them in passing while entering Levrus' shop.
"Zorbels how good to see you. I have all the potions you request for Akaylee's healing." Levrus pauses and then continues 'Most of the potions were easy to come by but some of them .... well let us just say it wasn't an easy task."
Zorbels nods with a grim look "Yes, I imagined you might have a difficult time meeting some of my requests. I shall pay you well for your efforts and thank you so much Levrus. I owe you." Zorbels smiles and hands Levrus a velvet bag heavy with trias.
"Thank you M'Lady, your business is always appreciated and if you need help with the spells and potions I would like to offer my assistance. Akaylee is a sweet frenki and I wouldn't mind having a helping hand in curing her." Leverus shakes his head sadly' "I miss her hiding out in my shop and watching over her."
"Aye, she will be hanging out here again in no time Levrus. I may take you up on your offer to help me. I am no experienced mage." Zorbels explains. "I must be going as time is an issue but I will talk with you soon about this."
"Take care M'Lady and see you soon." Levrus calls after Zorbels as she walks out of the magic shop enterance.
"Excuse me?" The klyros says quietly while approaching Zorbels.
"Yes?" Zorbels replys.
"I am trying to learn how to mine, and I pretty much think I am ready but that dwarf over there told me that behind the magic shop there is a spot to dig for ore that would be worth alot of trias. You wouldn't happen to know this spot he is talking about would you?" the klyros glances hopeful at Zorbels.
Zorbels grins "As a matter of fact I would know of this spot. would you like me to show you?"
"Yes, please do. Thank you." The klyros looks around the magic shop area and appears nervous as his eyes scan the crowd.
Zorbels looks at the Klyros with a puzzled look. "Are you expecting someone?"
"No. Can we go now?" the klyros askes eagerly.
Zorbels begins to walk toward the back of the magic shop. Her stomach feels like it is tied in knots and she notes she feels unsettled with this klyros. She brushes the feeling off and continues to the spot she knows full well holds a mass amount of ore. Zorbels points "You will find all the ore you are looking for here."
The klyros asks in a low tone "May I ask what your name is?"
"Oh, pardon my manners. My name is Zorbels, and what is yours?"
"I believe that dagger in your sheith is mine. I can tell by the hilt. Where did you find it?" The klyros asks sounding a little annoyed.
"I found it while I was walking down the road to the magic shop. Would you like it back?" She askes unsure and a little surprised by the klyros's change of attitude.
The Klyros nods to Zorbels. She unsheiths the dagger and hands it to the klyros carefully. Zorbels watches as the Klyros rolls the hilt in his hand artfully and in the blink of an eye shoves it into Zorbels side. Her eyes widen in surprise. She opens her mouth to speak but the klyros cuts her off with a few mumbled words about needing her blood. She falls to the ground dizzy from the blood loss. The Klyros straddles zorbels preparing himself to lick the blood from her open wound. For a moment the world seems to slow as she tries to think of how to get out of this. She notices a scroll hooked to the left of the Klyros's belt and realises this is the serial killer everyone was warned about. She feels the klyros shift his weight and then his tongue prod it's way into her stab wound. She lays still letting him think she has passed out from blood loss. Once she has decided her plan of action, she puts it into effect. Zorbels grabs the scroll with her left hand and releases her claws from her right hand. The moment the klyros realises she is not passed out he looks at her as she has anticipated. She lashes out and strikes the klyros on the right cheek with her sharp claws. He yells out in pain gripping his face. She uses the only strength she has left to shove him off. She struggles to get up but once she manages to get to her feet, she is pleased to find him still on the ground holding his face, blood pouring from his new wounds. Zorbels kicks the klyros in the head for safe measure and then staggers to the front of the magic shop.
"Somebody ... PLEASE HELP ME!" She shouts as loud as she can. She stumbles to the ground again feeling weak.
"Zorbels? Where are you?" Levrus calls out with concern riding high in his voice.
"I....I...am on the side...of...the magic shop." Zorbels calls out with pain shooting through her side. She clentches her teeth hoping he heard her.
"Oh, Zorbels! Damn it, what happened?" Levrus looks her over and see's zorbels hand full of blood as she holds her wound. "Dwarf! You, yes! Go into my shop behind the counter and pull out my potion bag please. Hurry I must close this wound.
Zorbels hands the scroll to Levrus and speaks in a whisper "Get this to Lady Zhai, this is important. She will know what to do. Tell her it is information on the killer."
Levrus takes the scroll and nods. "It shall be done. Don't worry. Now lets get you healed." Levrus takes the potion bag from the dwarf. "Thank you kind sir for your help."
Once Levrus has Zorbels healed and safely sleeping in his down stairs guest bedroom he heads off to find Lady Zhai. Before he goes he makes sure that Zorbels door is heavily gaurded. Not being able to resist temptation he unrolls the scroll and begins to read.
Maland
Idoru
Rorur
Myrthe
Irisey
Weredal
Myrdinn
Miadon
Spetyco
Irannis
Alihos
"Blood is the key. The collective shall feed"
Levrus looks puzzled. He rolls the scroll up and prepares to make his way to Hydlaa. "Lady Zhai I hope your an easy one to find." He mutters under his breath as he begins down the path to the town.

Well, this is the first OOC comment that is done in this thread, I think.
I thought I had to do it, to comment a couple of things I've seen.
Let's hope noone takes this as a personal attack.
Ok. We've a murderer that uses the sewers, preferantly to kill his victims. It's a nice scenario, and it suits well with the classical assassins that used narrow foggy streets. So no complains about the scenario, the initial idea, let's say.
How investigation is done. There I admit I've a problem with. Precisely the charm of any criminalistic investigation, and in this case having deaths involved, is that dead people don't talk. So the investigator has to try to infere things with what he/she has at hand. Marks on the corpse, the scenario where it is found, possible witnesses (preferently alive)... There's where the mistery, the challenge, and the beauty of all those investigation novels we all have read resides. In this case, though, those that were killed, are the ones reporting to the investigators/chasers about the assassin actions.
It is, to my eyes, another case where dead isn't really played accordingly.
I won't enter to discuss about the blood sucking part, if that has something to do with vampires of some sort or not is not something that is clear at this point, so I'm not going to state anything on that direction, just... touchy subject.
Later on, in this very thread, dead is dealt again, in an unfortunate way, to my eyes.
It's when the bountyhunters come to scene. If death is really how it's being played in this thread... then what's the purpose of a bountyhunter? Who would pay to kill someone that will come to life only an hour after?
There's a fight between Zhai and Marqsaynt. The bountyhunter dies at the first fight, but comes back to life and kills Zhai "in return".
I think it is inconsistent. Concept of bountyhunting has to be tied to a proper dead concept.
We can even reach extremes with this. An example of this can come with Zorbels last post. She is wounded by a dagger. Levrus tries hard to heal her, with potions, or semisurgical way... and Zorbels has to stay on bed, recovering from those wounds, and guards placed on the door to protect her.
Now the question is... if death is so lightly played? Why did not Levrus stabbed Zorbels to death? Far more easier to do that, she comes back to life in no time and fully recovered, no need to bother about potions... nor recovery times!
Yes, this is extreme, but I think it shows where this things can go, if some bases aren't stated right from the beginning.
Yes, it was nice to have that idea (a serial killer) and to share it with people in game, to try to start an event and have some fun together. And it's also nice to put it in here, the forums, for others to follow, or know about and try to join if they feel their chars should. That, excellent. But, besides of stating the idea of the event, it has also to be stated, and agreed beforehand, about how important things will be roleplayed (and death of chars is one in this particular case) in order to avoid those incongruences that tend to destroy the consistency of the story that was intended to be brought to life.
Thanks to anyone that made it till here :flowers:
Edit: Typo- murderer not murdered :P

[ok, maybe these can explain better the "inconsistences" you found:
- death has been talked about before and it remains in a very grey zone. there is no way to successfully RP death and no simple event will determine how. we have to look past that. maybe when the game is finished and coming back from the DR turns much more difficult/time consuming, it'll be less ambiguous but for now there's not much we can do to have a "propper dead concept".
- this RP involves many newcomers. some of them have little experience at it so it becomes a learning experience. they are exposed to clearly defined OOC and IC conversations and showed how to move from one to the other. they are also offered the opportunity to follow up the RP by giving their "testimony". yes, they should be "dead" but i feel it's more important to have a possitive involving RP experience than being too strict in terms of criminal investigation methodology, which again, lands in a grey zone within game settings.
- bounty hunter and PvP is off topic. these posts narrate what's happened in-game. we cannot change the facts no matter how "inconsistent" they sound. this is a very open RP, thus lots of unplanned things happen, hopefully this experience will help some with their own RP. IMHO, the most important factor should be that we let everyone enjoy it and learn from it. if we wanted a bullet-proof consistent story we would've written it in the Community Storywriting section, with no risks of noobs using /tells or OOC to spoil the game or different ideas on how death should be dealt with. but that was not the objective: the objective is to encourage RP and since many players are as involved as they wish to be we're bound to some mistakes, which should be understood. maybe the next plot will have less OOC and more consistency thanks to what we learn with this one.
I appreciate your opinion but your points are not new to us, we just decided to look past them for RP's sake. We've all noticed them but, again, this particular RP is not the place to fix them because they preceed all RPs. Each of them should have (if they don't already) their own thread and be considered by the dev. team. We cannot impose what we think is right. It's not our place and it's not the objective of this particular plot. BUT, if we have gone against settings or if we are spoiling the fun for any other players please do tell, because THAT would be an issue and should be addressed.
oh, and no, yours is not the only or the first OOC post here. ;)]

[OOC] I hate to do ooc :(
I completely back up Zhai's post. Nilrem we are trying to provide and promote roleplay to the best of our knowledge. :) We are not super roleplayers nor should anyone expect us to be. Though your points are valid, I think you have over thought this and simply not given your self a chance to enjoy the roleplay for what it is. It isn't easy hosting roleplays like this either. We cannot control how people roleplay or what they want to say, or how a situation should be played out. We can only suggest how to change something to better fit in with the story.
There is no secret that it is hard to roleplay out death because we never really die. If Zorbels was killed by the serial killer, then I would have been out of the story (my own personal choice). To me that is realistic. Unfortantly I can't tell someone else, "Hey you got killed by the serial killer, so you shouldn't be apart of this story anymore." That would be viewed as controlling and down right rude. Why? .... because that is the freedom of the game. You are in control of your character, no one else. I purposely wrote my being stabbed and then healed and safely tucked away for three reasons .... (Truthfully more but I don't want to name them all at this moment)
(1) To show that you can impliment NPC's into your story so it add life and character to them as well as the story.
(2) Zorbels is pretty tough, stubborn and hot headed BUT she isn't invincible. The good guys can go down and don't always have to be a hero. (I see this way to much in planeshift and I absolutely despise when someone likes to play the type of character who never gets hurt and always has the answer to everything)
(3)To test myself and my writing skills and see how I could write me being injured.
I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled when miadon came up to me in the plaza and let me know he had been killed by the killer. The first thought that came to my head was "Well if your dead why are you still apart of the story or why are you standing here talking to me then?" Should I not be looking at the place where he died for clues? I hadn't a clue how to roleplay it, so instead of going all demando on him and "I think this is the way you should roleplay this story" (which isn't my right to begin with might I add) I responded to him and asked what he could tell me of the killer. I wasn't about to nitpick at the small things. I was having fun with the roleplay and that one situation gave me experience. Now I will be able to sit down and think about it for the next roleplay that may have the same situation occur, and maybe even have a salution. Nilrem if you have a better way to fix this problem than I am all ears, because not once did I see any suggestions in your post.
I won't enter to discuss about the blood sucking part, if that has something to do with vampires of some sort or not is not something that is clear at this point, so I'm not going to state anything on that direction, just... touchy subject.
No one has talked about vampires. Nilrem the killer is a psycho. Period. There is no telling what he will do. So if he likes to "Lick or suck blood" as it is written, who are you to agrue that? That is a fact about the serial killer (something the people who started this roleplay made up) and he is doing it for a reason. May not make sense to the rest of us, but really do serial killings make sense in the first place? Who knows maybe there is a good reason for him doing this. Or maybe the serial killer thinks that if he eats the blood of others and casts a spell on himself, he will recieve the victims best skills and traits.
I appreciate your opinion but your points are not new to us, we just decided to look past them for RP's sake. We've all noticed them but, again, this particular RP is not the place to fix them because they preceed all RPs. Ok now for the cheesy part. Hear, Hear! Long live roleplay, even with the inconsistences. \\o//

Unfortunately my intentions have been misunderstood. All what my post tries to do, is notify things that, imo, should be improved, and I stated why I think those things should be treated differently. It's objective was far from offending anyone.
I'll try, though, to reply to what has been said:
- To me, death isn't in a grey zone, as has been said. How the DR is, why it exists, how it works... all that can be grey. But that coming back from death isn't the thing to expect, is cristal clear. I do not say that this event has to settle as a rule how to roleplay dead, I just say that, since it deals with it, it's a good chance to spread consciousness about the topic. Explain the reality that coming back from death isn't the normal thing, is one of the things that, imo, has to be done. That's why, for me, this has little to do with game completion (I have the personal opinion that never ever will be the implemented DR as hard to exit from as its intended to be by the settings. Simply because isn't the game objective to trap players on a map called DR) but has to do with mentalization, even as a pedagogic act, since there are new players involved.
- I don't think that having new players, though, leads to "move on" from those topics. It's precisely a chance to state your views about those topics. It is not for the new players that the "dead" ones are giving reports about the assassin; it was planned to be like this in the first post made in this thread, where is said:
"if you have been a victim, send us a /tell or PM so we can meet in game"
So, it was known that people would RP like that (no matter if they're new or not new players) and report about the assassin, once their chars got "killed". Then again, I see this chance as an opportunity to talk to those players (ooc yes, what's wrong with it?) about the death topic, and made them see that their char doesn't die everytime they're sent to the DR, and explain that, in fact, if the char goes to the DR it should be for him/her almost impossible to escape from. Not doing so, can lead to they assuming that "this is how things are meant to be" and keep rping those deaths "lightly" a chance of pedagogy I saw with this thread, and that's why I posted. Not to flame the event, nor the ones taking part in it.
- Each one has, obviously, different approaches to the roleplay concept. I try to have my own, too; but if I see something happening that I don't see fitting, I've no problem in stopping the RP, and trying to explain my views to the ones I'm talking to. I don't like to look past things for the sake of RP, if I haven't tried, before, to explain my views on the subject if it results unpleasant.
If someone comes and says that the gods moved the city of Ojaveda to another place... or if someone says that a new area has been discovered recently (referring to the BD citadel) I'll try to stop, and tell them my view about the subject. And I do it, because I think it's the best for everyone, not because I find pleasant to break any RP.
- I never suggested controlling other people. Or telling them what they've to do, or how they've to play. But if I see that something in their play is not regular, I'll try to tell them that, and explain my reasons. I'm not forcing anyone to do what I do, as I think noone can ever say I did that to him/her. And yes, this means that, if I were in this story, I'd try, as I mentioned earlier, to explain to that people about the IC reality of the DR. It's a nice chance, and I'd try to share the idea that the DR cannot be rped "as is".
- The vampirism thing wasn't an accusation. I used an "if" there, that I hoped stated clear my view (and I said that explicitly) that I did not know how that was ending. I simply pointed to a non desirable ending. This topic obviously wasn't the objective of my initial post.
- I'm sorry to read, though, that not even a single line of my post could be taken as a suggestion. I hope others reading those lines did not reach the same conclusion.
Finally, the ones that rp, that imagine, and have ideas are, in the end, the players. And I've the strong belief that a proper OOC communication is needed, not only to spread ideas, but also to share visions about how each one sees "roleplay" should be, to aim for a larger ground for everyone to play in, consistent and logical. I don't consider myself a "super roleplayer" nor I consider myself someone that "loves OOC", but I believe that we, players, sometimes have to make a stop, and switch to OOC, to clarify things, expose things that could be improved, or simply state differences of concept, and that, yes for the sake of RP. Ignoring things that for us are not quite fitting, pretending they weren't said... that perhaps can work for the short term RP (the one you're having with the one that said that "incongruence") but it certainly doesn't aid for the large term RP.
]
-
[again, I appreciate your observations and you are right stating that these topics should be discussed. Now about stopping RP to do that for this particular case would be pointless because 1) it probably won't lead to a solution (again, because everyone rps differently) and 2) because that should be discussed with a wider audience as in the forums. Telling the victim to stop their RP because we need to figure out the "meaning of death" can be a very big turn-off and thus counterproductive. Nobody can say they are "super-RPers" and nobody expects anyone to be. What is expected though, is that everyone respects the other players' fun. If you go OOC to figure out something that will definitelly not be figured out in game (either because it's too complex a topic to talk in a few minutes between /tells, /guildchat, /groupchat, /shouts, /auctions and server crashes) you'll be breaking the RP with no point to make, unless you expect everyone to listen and agree with your own vision of the facts (which, imho, is a bit controlling of someone). Yes, they should be discussed and figured out. But, an event like this is not the best place. Even if we managed to "agree" in game about these concepts they would become an imposition for those who would join the RP later on. And if we want to have game consistency we will have to let this go until the discussion has been throrough in the proper place to have it. Please, do not feel attacked or flamed, we're just asking that you be more understanding about the things we can accomplish with this particular event.]
-
I'm sorry to read, though, that not even a single line of my post could be taken as a suggestion. I hope others reading those lines did not reach the same conclusion.
I am sorry but I have to disagree with you Nilrem, your first post had no suggestions. You were pointing out faults in the roleplay. Your second post however did have suggestions on how you would deal with certain things. Not either of your posts did I take offence to just so that we are clear.
:) As for your last post I will take what you said and think about what you have stated. The one thing I can't agree on you with though is stopping a huge roleplay right in the middle just to lay out some ground rules. As far as I am concerned that should be thought of and done before the roleplay. As Zhai pointed out it can be damaging. From personal experience I back that up. Though a smaller roleplay full of your cloest friends in ps is not hard to stop and talk in group about the inconsistences. Again we appreciate your opinions and in no way did anyone take offence. The suggestions and solutions are welcome.

(Gwinns recollection of her encounter with the killer)
The Azure sun softly begins to shine as down passes its hand over Ojaveda. Gwinn Sits, deep in Meditation. Something is wrong, the equilibrium has shifted. A dark Shadow approaches. Gwinn opens her eyes. There, in the distance, a form she has seen before.
It is the killer. She gives chase to the killer, even though she is still in a weakened disconnected state from her meditations. This decision she would regret. Through the streets of Ojaveda she chases him, past the gate to the warehouse district. She has lost sight of him. Slowly she enters the shadows, searching for him.
Pain cascades down her body as she is struck from behind. She falls to the ground; a blurred image of a klyros fades into darkness.
Her head reeling with pain, she struggles as the ropes cut into her flesh. His voice slithers into her mind… a name Daehaz. Her Eyes open as she feels him cut at her arm…. He stands looming over her grinning. “you will feed the collective”, He says as he laps the blood from her body. Unknown to him, this mental link runs in two directions. While he occupies himself in his feeding she searches his thoughts for the meaning of his message. One by one the words appear. :”Dae- Shadow, annor-door, anga- fang……… “His mind slippery and dark… whirling and chaotic, almost unbearable to touch his thoughts, she presses deeper “Amarath-destiny, gor-another… Hoth-horde, Gul-magic, Ant-bridge” Finally the words are secured their meaning now clear. Now to find a way out of this, to survive. Her mind reaches out, she sends out a vision showing her capture hoping someone would receive it. Again he speaks; “I will not kill you... Yet!, you are my thirteenth and soon the others will come”. Defiantly she utters; “I will not help you”. He grins as he replies; “you have no choice!” He grabs hold of her head, smashing it against the pole. Again pain rains through her as the world goes black.
Again Consciousness ekes into her head. Her eyes open only to see his face once more… As he grins Blood... her blood glistens on his teeth. Then, a look of surprise washes over his deadly expression; “what is he doing here!” To her relief it is her friend Alliva, He has heard her plea and has come o her rescue. The Killer fires arrows at Alliva, … Alliva gives chase. She could only stand there helpless too weak to move, as she heard the ulber move to her, as she felt its claws rip through her. Again the world flees from her sight as darkness embraces her mind.
The murmurings of muffled voices surround her, Familiar voices, safe voices. She takes a deep breath, still unable to see, but this place is unmistakable, it is the realm of the dead. Killiy….. a voice she knows, her friend, and Gharan…. She is dead, but safe. She is free from the killers’ deadly embrace. They summon the energy to heal her, but this only restores her eyesight, something is wrong. She is still too weak. Killiy gives to her potions, as Gwinn drinks she notices the effect has diminished... Then, the horrible realization of what has happened grips her. She is still connected to that madman, he still drains her of her life force, and she now is trapped in the land of death.
Gwinn searches her mind. Desperately remembering the words of her teacher Sapere “balance in all things, child, restore the balance, this is the true freedom” She must restore herself to balance, but how, she is still far too weak.
Before long her friend Alliva arrives. He leads her to the great hall, a place where the killers’ link will be the weakest. Alliva casts a circle of light and leaves with her his crystal, to stand guard. She must wait for Eid, he would be able to add the final bit of energy that will allow her to break free of the killers grasp and allow her to leave this retched land of the dead.
Hours pass, as Gwinn waits. She struggles to keep the killers pull at bay. Biruno brings with him 13 diamond crystals these would be necessary to amplify the energy that Eid will focus. He places them in a circle around her. Gwinn draws on the last vestiges of her strength to direct their energy with that her friend Alliva had left to guard her. Just when Gwinn was about to give in to the chaos that leached her life force, like a ray of light Eid arrives. At long last freedom, life is within her reach. Eid then summons the raw energy of the azure sun, nearly destroying himself in the process and directs this energy into Gwinn. For a brief moment the death realm seemed bright, as if the sun where shinning brightly above them. A blinding light, Gwinn feels the link between her and the killer break as she and Eid collapse. Now at last Gwinn is free.

Spetyco was in the arena, honing his battle skills against the gladiators there when he received a message from Zhai to meet her at the tavern in Hydlaa. So Spetyco, being the loyal Ranger he is, immediately left his battle and ran straight to the tavern. When he arrived he found Zhai alone next to the fireplace.
"Hail, Ranger!" She calls out.
Spetyco bows, "Greetings, Lady Zhai."
They converse for some time. Others join in, including Indygo. The rest leave, but Zhai, Spetyco, and Indygo remain by the fireplace talking.
Zhai turns at Spetyco, remembering why she summoned him in the first place: "Spety, I have a favor to ask. I wanted Zeki to aid you but it seems you'll have to do it alone."
Indygo stares off in a daze.
"What do you require of me?"
"I need you to scout the Volcano Valley and track down the killer. Alliva found him there when he rescued Gwinn. If there's a place to start looking for him, that should be it. Maybe Indygo would like to join you, if he's not too busy?"
Indygo smiles
Indygo says, "Not busy at all. Just enjoying good company."
"I don't want you to fight him but track him. Follow his trail so we can bring a patrol and seize him once and for all," Zhai says.
Spetyco says, "I will find him, Zhai, and report back to you."
Zhai nods. "Good"
Spetyco says, "I will begin immediately."
Zhai nods "Be careful"
Spetyco bows to Zhai and then to Indygo, "Wish me luck."
Zhai says, "Er... wait. I think, Indy wants to come along. It would be for the best..."
Indygo says, "I will join in. If you would like the assistance"
Spetyco says, "Sure, you can tag along. Are you ready?"
Indygo bows slightly with a smile "Be well lady Zhai."
Zhai nods, "Be well, you two."
Spetyco and Indygo run out of Hydlaa and head towards the volcano outside of Oja. When they arrive they decide to go to the top of the volcano to look for any signs of the klyros.
On a cliff near the crater Spetyco stoops down to examine the ground.
Indygo puts his hand on Spetyco's shoulder "Are you alright?"
Spetyco looks up at Indygo, "There was a fight, a Klyros and a menki. The klyros fled... possibly jumping off the cliff?"
Indygo points "I hear something over there."
"Which way?"
Indygo points near the trepors "Over there."
Indygo says, "There it is!!!"
Spetyco says, "I see him!!"
Indygo points down the cliff.
Indygo turns to Spetyco, "What should we do Ranger?"
Spetyco says, "Well, I believe we're just supposed to find him."
Indygo shakes his head "I have other intentions.... we should tie it up."
Spetyco looks at Indygo with a firece look in his eye, "Are you up to a fight?"
Indygo grins "Always. Lets get down there before it flees."
As the begin their descent, Spetyco leans a little too far over the edge and falls.
Darkness!
When Spetyco comes to it has been nearly a day and there is no sign of Indygo or the killer anywhere. He hobbles back to Hydlaa to report to Zhai.
-
"A dark shade rises in the valley, the dead volcano behind as only witness of the hunt. The innards of the trepor spread all over as the hunter makes his way into its heart and removes it, devouring it frantically. He stabs the dead creature out of frustration after he's done eating. Not enough! Not enough! But the cities... No! They're looking but no!They'll never catch me... Curse you, Gwinn Frawd! I curse you and your friends! He turns around startled with the impression of being observed but no one's there."
-
Alliva sits under a tree slowly sharpening his weapons waiting for the day he meats the filthy klyos again. As he dose he thinks back to his last encounter always wishing he had done better in his rescue attempt. Slowly alliva sharpens his blade faster and thinks back specificaly about the rechesd klyose's dirty tricks. As he get enraged allivas hand slips and he cuts himself on his sharpend blade and looks down to see blood. Apoun seing the blood flowing from the wound he rises up and looks at the sky "with this blood i swear i will meat you again and do what is necesary for my friends and the pain you put them through".
-
Zhai meets Gwinn, Alliva and Eid somewhere near the plaza. "It's time to hunt him down. My rangers have tracked him down to a valley near Ojaveda. He's been hiding there so if we bring enough swords he won't escape this time. We'll have to be careful, if he's ready to summon this collective he refers to we must be ready for any surprises". Soon after that, Alliva is already calling for volunteers down the plaza. The flyers and posters call for everyone:
* * *
"Hear, hear, citizens of Yliakum:
The time to catch the Killer of the Sewers has come.
Let us put an end to his foul ways and bring him to justice once and for all.
[/b]
* * *
[:detective: We'll be forming the hunting party on Sunday 6, at 22GMT (6pm eastern time). Show up at Harnquist's shop and look for Alliva and Gwinn, who will be leading the hunt. Everyone can join in, no matter how inexperienced in the game you are. I would like to especially invite those guilds dedicated to the enforcement of the law. Look for me ingame or PM me if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!]
-
I hope to be there. Thankfully the action will be taking place near Oja so if I die on the way to Harnquist and you start without me (or if I forget to get on until a little later), it'll actually help. I'll be able to rush in in the middle of the action and help out! (That is if I can find out where you are.)
-
Zhai approaches Jayose with a small piece of paper, where four words can be read:
"Daennor Angamarath Gorhoth Guliant"
[/size]
- These are the words chanted by the Klyros in his foul ritual- she says to the librarian- We learned this thanks to a vision Einnol had of the killer... Can they be translated?
[...]
- I cannot put my trias on it but there are certain similarities to an ancient root of elven dialect. Maybe if you break the particles... "Dae" for instance... [...]
[the spell can be translated indeed. do your best! we need to figure out its meaning!]
Interesting, interesting. According to one ancient book I've seen, reputedly from beyond Yliakum if such a thing is believable, the breakdown might go something like this:
Dae: shadow
nnor: (unknown, probably not a dictionary form but rather a mutation where certain letters change or drop out when not a stand-alone word; possibly from 'dor/ndor' meaning 'land')
Ang(a): iron (or possibly a mutation of 'anca' meaning 'jaws')
(a)marath: (unknown, possibly a mutation of 'mereth', feast, or of 'amarth', doom)
Gor: horror/dread (or possibly a mutation from 'gaur', werewolf, considering the blood-eating attacks)
hoth: host/horde
Gul: sorcery
iant: bridge
-
[well done! seems like you too got the meaning of it. congrats :flowers:]
-
(We will attempt to have a representitive there to deputize any who wish it. Might as well do this 'buy the book'. We will be passing out the large blue badges of the Civil Patrol for any that wish them. As an added bonus, you will be rememered for future RPs. Not a bad idea to have some friends in the 'police', now is it?
If you are in a guild, but wish to be deputized, ask your guild leaders if a temporary change would be in order for your character. Maybe they will even give you extra points for doing a civic duty on your return?)
-
I will try to be there. (Don't expect me to do anything huge with my pair of Frosty SSs though).
-
Ah, unfortunately you picked the RL day of Delsabor's birthday, so unfortunately he and I will be out to dinner and unable to attend >< Why is it that I always miss the fun role play events?
-
yeah all come myself (Alliva) will be there to mannage the hunting i hope i dont screw it up.
-
Just curious (as I will not be there), do you have rules for this 'hunt'. Or shall it be a kick-the-door-down-and-go-in-with-both-guns-blazing-every-kran-for-kranself-and-take-no-prisoners type of thing? :)
Tell me how it goes.
-
[There will be some rules, of course, and some surprises :o... but they will be given ingame as the party gathers. if you're really interested in hearing them i can PM you, we'll welcome any suggestions.]
EDIT:
Alliva, Gwinn and Eid awaited for volunteers to go after the killer. Brave men and women approached as they called for help. To them came Falida, Dererun, Caphil, Idoru, Zamber, Sayuluvic, Siteri, Ehasara, Vaice, Kaerli, Ralarssenth, Einnol, Jeikei, Nomenag, Slithis, Holdan, Gharan, Gisera, Spetyco and Vaice. Let them tell now what they saw...

- Come... I'm waiting for you- says Daehaz to himself as he sees the patrol approach the volcano where he hides. He starts shouting his enchantment, opening the way for the collective. It's still too soon and the effect won't be permanent but he has no choice or they will trap him.
- Daennor Angamarath Gorhoth Guliant!
His voice thunders through the valley as a dark wave sweeps through the hunters that come for him. The Collective start to claim vessels. The first was Idoru, who happened to find the klyros sooner than the others. His mind was taken and maddened and his wrath unleashed upon his companions. Holdan was also taken and then Kaerli and Jeikei. This last warrior's mind was strong and the Collective had to resort to much power to take over. Soon they were attacking each other, killing themselves before Daehaz.
Then Sayuluvic stood before Daehaz. Holdan attacked but the brave elf could dodge his attacks and run after the klyros. As Daehaz ran to a safer spot he saw how Alliva was struck down by Jeikei, who was efficiently getting rid of so many hunters... and it was him who dealt with Sayuluvic. The klyros and Jeikei then became the hunters, yet the collective had suffered casualties. Idoru and Holdan were down and Jeikei's mind was fighting back. The control he had over him soon broke and Jeikei woke up. The klyros tried to control Jeikei's mind again but with no effect.
Jeikei called for help and tried to trap the klyros casting weakness on him. However, darkness had no effect in him. Soon Einnol arrived and saw Jeikei healing the klyros. Confused, he hesitated but Jeikei rushed to explain: "The holy magic of the crystal is his weakness! Heal him, quick!". Soon the others survivors arrived. Falida, Einnol and Jeikei managed to pin down the killer with Life Infusion while Gwinn wielded the holy sword known as Laanx's Mind, with which all the darkness within Daehaz was vanquished. The Collective was no more.
Broken, injured and abandoned by his dark allies, Daehaz surrendered, begging for mercy. He was then taken to the city and locked up in a cell withing the temple of Laanx. His tricks and attempts to get away were futile. The killer was trapped.
-
 1 problem that could have been prevented: Teamkilling amongst members of the collective. Jeikei, for one, wiped me out right after I was possessed (while I was trying to take out Gisera no less). X-/
-
[yes, well, we never said the collective was organized. we thought it would be more fun if the chars involved would not know who were good or evil. so yes, evil killed evil and some good guys killed other good guys in the maelstrom of chaos. ;D]
-
...I got a rock.
I mean I died.
-
Alliva with the help of eid and gwinn gatherd the group of hunter in front of harnquist and moved out slightly behind schedul. Regrouping before the area were the killer had been spoted alliva decided to split the hunters into teams to find and capture the killer as quick as posible. leading there teams the hunters moved out and started to serch soon the teams started to lose members to the world or getting lost or falling victims to the collective. Alliva comes apoun eid and asks eid if he had spoted the killer.
After a quick conversation alliva proseded on but as he did he heard a screem behind him and iduro feel to the ground not knowing if eid was possesd or not he made a snap desistion and stuck at eid quickly and desisvely. strikeing eid down he noticed that eid was not posesd and felt sad. Continueing the hunt he spoted daehaz and ran toward him at that point a dagger from an elf struck him down. After some time and much effort to restore himself to the land of the living alliva found the last of the hunters had caught daehaz. quickly running over he helped the others drag daehaz to the laanx temple and threw him into his cell. Alliva created a barrier of light like he did with gwinn to seal daehaz there and left the klyros to face his judgment.

[OOC: Nice RP yu got here! Too bad i couldn't help.... i keep forgetting lol]

Gharan heads off in search of the killer....He gets near Oja turns his back and wakes up in DR.....End of my hunt ;D

*Daehaz cuddles in the corner of his cell. "I'm innocent", he mutters. :'(
-
Hmm... anything for me to do?
-
Of course Siteri. I'll add you to the list of volunteers.
-
[TRIAL day is today! don't miss it! :woot:]
-
Looks like it's time to change the title of this thread to "The Killer of the Courtroom"!
As I said to Einnol... one count murder, one count contempt of court, and one count of Aggravated Anticlimax.
-
(*Is glad he just wasted 4 hours of his life sitting on a cold courtyard-bench*)
My butt hurts :(
-
Nice sig.
Is everyone else on the jury going to put that?
-
[Thanks to all volunteers who participated in the trial. Yes, there was an unexpected interruption but it was all IC and good RP. I'll be contacting you in-game so we can wrap this up properly and consistently. Thank you all again ;)].
-
No problem. Really, it was only an IC waste of time. It was great OOC.
-
(Don't you mean it the other way around?)
-
Argh, everyone thinks I have those two mixed up. What I mean is, Siteri the character doesn't like it because she lost the opportunity to say that she helped stop something evil, like how she missed the chance to free Zhai from Angadu, or how she missed catching Daehaz during the hunt for him. I, the player, was a bit upset at first, but I now realize that having had the opportunity to actually deliver a verdict wouldn't really have been much more fun than what ended up happening anyway. So, IC it's bad, OOC it's good, get it?
The only things I really didn't like about it were Alliva taunting me about the cliff thing before the trial started, and not being able to do anything about Unar. (Sreamah saw no need for a trial for her, so she just sentenced her to bring back Daehaz.)
-
No trial for Unar? Didn't she just kill someone in cold blood?
-
Yes, but she did it in plain view of an entire room full of witnesses, there was no way she was going to be found innocent. This isn't modern times.
-
Ah, so with no trial you mean immediate execution? Thought she would be find innocent because you said there would not be a trial.
-
Basically, except she wasn't executed. Sreamah just told her that she had to find Daehaz and bring him back, and that the blood would be on her hands if he killed again.
-
I was annoyed at Unar because i had my own twist to add to the procedings. And it was so much better than that very annoying anticlimax. Ahwell maybe next time.
-
Somehow I get the feeling that once Daehaz is found they are going to finish his trial. You'll get a chance to do your thing then maybe.
-
No, I didn't see a rason to try Unar. She is guilty, but a death sentence is pointless in this world. [[I think] Talad and Laanx made the soul catcher we call the DR to keep us here as long as we want, the only way a "Death Sentence" will work is if, say i sentence Unar to death, and we execute her, she will have to delete her character for it to mean anything, and im not sure she will want to do this just yet.] Now, the sentence i put against Unar last night [I was very tired after that long bit of reading] was to find and return Daehaz to the court for the final sentence, [again cannot be death unless he really deletes his char as well] I am trying to think of a good one for him. If he is returned to us, I believe i will need a strong mage or two.
[Unar didnt really have to free him like that, he could have and would have been subdued by thoes with restraint]
***Sreamah wonders if she should have sent a shaperone with Unar, and what Unar's REAL motive was for that act. Was it really to protect Gwinn, who was only captured from behind, or was there more to it than that.***
-
You know, I might have jinxed the trial. I said that I hope he breaks out so I can chase after him again and this time actually help catch him rather than fall off a cliff. Now, he basically has been broken out by Unar, but I can't help catch him because that would be interfering with Unar's punishment. I'd get in trouble for that! At least I'll still be able to be on the jury.
From now on when trials are done, I suggest that the defendants be given bodyguards, who would group up with them, so whenever anyone tried to attack the defendant the guards could stop it.
-
Well what an event! This was a first in Hydlaa and people gathered in Laanx Temple to see it happen. The trial lasted quite some time, as these things usually do. But all participants remained concentrated on their task to the very end.
There were a few interruptions, but all were handled magnificently by Judge Shreamah. In the end, the prosecution failed to establish the guilt of the defendant for those charges, but did establish that Daehaz had kidnapped Gwinn Frawd. No decision was taken, for Daehaz lost control and launched himself on poor Lady Gwinn. Unar intervened and sent him to better world. The furious jury stormed out of the temple, whilst plans were drawn to recapture the Klyros... Let all inhabitants of Hydlaa beware!
[For those of you who couldn't make it, here's a brief overview of the proceedings, in the form of a few screenshots (http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/Lomerandin/Trial%20of%20Daehaz/?action=view&slideshow=true) . Now you know why I kept running around for 4 hours ;) ]
[And congratz to all, jurors, prosecution, judge, witnesses, etc. You did a brilliant job and led a memorable RP event!]
-
Please go to this thread (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24752.0) to post your comments on the procedure for future trials. I think the jury can still come to a veredict without having to go through another trial. And, if Daehaz is found guilty, the sentence could take place as soon as he's caught (again). And although it's Unar's responsibility now to catch him, I still think any volunteers can help out... after all, the sooner we catch him the better. ;D
EDIT: Lomerandin, thanks so much for the screenies. \\o// Great work!
-
I just thought of an idea. I posted it but now I don't want it to be posted so people don't find out about it in case I actually get to do it. It was clever, but it would seem a lot more clever if it were a surprise.
-
[everyone... i'm sorry i couldn't be there... i'm really sorry and hope the event went well and you all had a great time :)]
/me walks in the hils wondering how the klyros killer looks like
-
[ooc] i never taunterd you about you dieing in the hunt you asked me if you could come back and i said as far as im concerned your dead. we did say at the start you die your out end of storie but you have to understand in rl if someething like that was to happen youd be dead and out of the hunt anyway i never once made a foul of your a mock you. If i had died like you then i would have also been out it wasnt our fault you couldnt get somewere or you never knew of something that resulted in your death we toild you everything you needed to know at the start.
-
I wasn't talking about during the hunt. I was talking about before the trial, you kept saying it was my fault I died, and all these other things that made me feel bad about dying. I kept telling you that you were not being nice. I admit I shouldn't have said that Daehaz caused me to die, that was just stupid, but you didn't have to make me feel dumb by saying "oh, there's another way to get to the crater besides the bridge", making me think I died for nothing.
(But it did end up making no difference anyway because I didn't get back in time to do anything important. If I had gotten back I would have helped whether you liked it or not.
Also we're now going to have to hunt for him again, so hopefully I will be able to get involved then.)

The prosecution didn't necessarily fail to establish the guilt of the defendant. The jury didn't have a chance to convene. Also it was actually the second very good official trial in Hydlaa, the first court being held in the secret garden to charge Kaapio with murder and theft. It actually ended in a similar way, with Kaapio attacking the client and being subdued. However, in that case, the sentence had already been passed, and he had to pay fines when he got out of the DR. So, definitly a good idea to disarm and post clear guards with defendants from now on. Our city is learning.
:beta:
Note: I have posted in here (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24752.msg279123#msg279123) about how Execution can be a valid sentence. There are ways to make death count.
I apologise to those who were vexed by our little twist at the end. I remind you not everything goes to plan in a hostile place like Yliakum, and to hold onto plans lightly in unpredictable situations. No OOC disrespect or arrogance was intended. Thank you all for your patience.
Yes, Sreamah had no need to establish from a trial what Unar had done. She saw it for herself before an entire court. We will have to say she judged my motives and passed fair sentence. In fact, Unar did not hold the court in contempt nor have murderous intent. She had great respect for those gathered. She read the intent to kill in Daehaz, and she cares greatly for Gwinn. She also foolishly assumed his bloodlust and assault would be enough to prove guilt to any jurer. She also had no concept of a powerful being who could merely escape when beheaded, and wasn't about to risk assuming there would be guards on top of him.
So, she was charged with irresponsibly allowing a convict to escape, and is setenced to retrieve him. So far she has been given a Laanx amulet to help subdue him, and learned the poweful crystal way barrier spell to trap him. Help recapturing him wont go amiss, particularly from Gwinn, who has the Laanx sword.
-
Daehaz wakes up in the underworld. He smiles. He hates the death realm but he's glad to be there. He knows how to get back to the living and this time he won't get caught... "Thank you, Unar, you've done me a big favor". He runs through the corridors of the citadel hiding in the shadows and careful not to be seen. The exit to the living world is ahead. He stops for a second before entering the portal as a new plan takes form and draws as smile across his face...

Unar stands in Hydlaa tavern with coleagues. A familiar scent appears thinly on the air. It is the one she has been waiting for. She signals to Irick and Miaua and sets down her cat Tami to begin bearing messages to scouts around Yliakum. The hunt begins.
[thanks for the relentless hunting of all those involved (sorry if i miss you):
Siteri (who first spotted him)
Gwinn
Eid
Irick
Miaua
Venae
Dilphemor
Kolesa]
Unar co-ordinated the hunt over every corner of Yliakum. The sewers, the dungeons, every street corner, every secret hollow of the wilds.. nothing was left unchecked. The search was gruelling, but the hunters determined, none more so than Unar herself. When finally the word was sent by groffel and that a sighting was made, Unar was on the scene in minutes. She engaged with Daehaz' daggers, her amulet gifted by Gwinn guarding her mind. She attempted to subdue him, but the strange klyros was wily. He sought and found Unar's fatal blow on himself, wishing again to escape through death by Unar's hungry blades.
But Unar was resolute. She knelt before him as he faded into nothing, and slit her own dagger across her belly. In agony, she withdrew it, and plunged it again into her stomach, slicing upwards. Through shadows and confusion she chose to pursue Daehaz into the bowels of the Death Realm itself. Eventually overtaking him, she battled him again, crushing the deathly strength from him. With muttered words she issued the spell Alliva had taught her, and a crystal barrier encased Daehaz.
Then, to Unar's relief and utmost surprise, Gwinn and Eid appeared from the shadows. Unar's eyes narrowed as she considered the terrible poisons Gwinn must have bid them taste to follow to this foul place. Without delay, Gwinn bore forth her sword of Laanx, and made certain of the evil Klryos' secure passage back to his cell in the Laanx Temple.
[EDIT]
Unar crawls backwards on her hands and her knees from the presence of the Monarch, Lolitra Purrty. Stripped of her shields and her title, no longer Royal anything, but just a nobody on the street.. until she can do penance.
-
* Back in his cell, Daehaz awaits the veredict of the jury with an unusual serenity. Cloaked in the shadows he grins as a visitor arrives...
[Jurors debate! Please take the time to meet in-game. I don't wanna be locked up too long... well at least not without being found guilty :whistling:]
-
[Zhai maybe you should announce a new GMT for the jury to convene]
