Hey guys i'm back again, i started working on this movie like a week or two ago, i got myself up and finished it today.:sorcerer:
It's only 40 Megabytes ~~
And now presenting "Everything for you" :flowers:
http://files.filefront.com/Everything_for_youwmv/;5805910;;/fileinfo.html
Average quality version at:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=oRoTm-FUH94
Hope you all like it~ :D

A video full of suicides :o
It's a tiny bit better than your last deathmatch-video .. however:
- i still don't like the music, it simply doesn't match the setting of PS, nor does it tell a real story ( - but "Everything for you yalla yalla" :P)
- some of the scenes are nice, for example the walk towards the statue inside the arena
- Maybe you should cut out the laggy deathscenes next time. The lag it's not your fault, but it simply looks strange :)
- Most scenes are too long, which makes 'em quite boring - maybe shorters scenes and faster cuts could be a better choice
Just my 2 trias
Greetings

I agree, the music is totally off.
Nevermind that it's not to my "old-man" tastes, X-/ it just sounds odd in a Planeshift context.
However, if you turn the sound off (what I did), then the net result is quite good.
It's like a visually interesting exploration of Planeshift, including jumping off high places. Not sure if that was the theme you were trying to go for, but that's what I get out of it. I've always wondered what happens when you jump off Eagle's Head, but it takes me so long to walk there, I've never done it. I consider this to be a "public service" ;)
I like!
:woot:
If you post more, Datruth, I'd love to watch them :D
-
My main criticism about any video I've watched so far is the music is too modern. For me a style of rock or industrial just jags on me. Maybe it's my old man thing though.
Also if you want people to watch your videos it would be good to make them in a multiplatform format or upload them to a webservice like youtube or google so that the format is irrelevent. No more wmv for thanks.
-
hmm yes music is not really suitable, it is better than your last vid as you have more variety of scenes, I just don't get what the theme exactly is, ie why is everyone jumping off tall places?
Oh and I took the liberty of uploading it to google video again, if you want to have specific text in the description then I'll edit it for you:
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=1290297275817669564
-
Thanks miadon, the only thing i would add to he description is " Made by Restound Hronzo".
I actually have a youtube account so if i have some time, i'll go ahead and upload them to youtube.
The reason why i didn't upload it to youtube or Google video in the first place because every time they convert the video, you have quality loss. They also don't Size it properly. But i guess you made a good point being that some people have no choice and can't see the WMV format.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also at peeg, the laggy death sequences were my fault lol. :D
It wasn't lag, i never lag in Planeshift. I used my video editing program to Slow down the video.
Most of the falls were 1 or 2 seconds long, but i slowed it down to about 5 seconds.
The only fall i didn't Slow down, was the waterfall one, the initial jump and movement was slowed down, so people could get a good look at the soroundings, but once i jumped, after 1 second, it reverts back to full speed.
So yea, that was a BIG drop lol.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seems like i was the only one who liked the music lol, i'm sorry it was too modern for your tastes.
My next video will actually let you guys decide the Music.
Thanks for watching Guys :thumbup:

Very funny, I was laughting all the way and still do :lol:
I liked the music too.
Sorry if it was not the intended effect :lol:
(disclaimer: don't misunderstand me, only in video games such falls are funny, not in real life)
-
You know on the music thing: As long as you like it and are pleased then it doesn't really matter. It's not like you're making a commercial endeavor and must succeed with a target audience. It's your expression and you are free to do it any way you want. At least that's how I feel about art or expression.
Thanks for uploading it Miadon. I appreciate that.
-
Um, but then we are talking about art for yourself or art for others. If you picked music you like, while not caring about the rest, then there is no point to show it ;P
Datruth, what's the kind of music you like? Somehow i think, looking at prevous productions, that this and similiar is what you really like. The problem is these bands never sing and play about medieval times or somethink mysterious, they are just all around our real life ;P Give me some example If i'm wrong. So even if you like playing this medieval fantasy game listening to this and smehow you can feel the spirit, its fine. But don't make movies with this music ;P
-
I think you mean modern music.
Because frankly, that's the only thing in common with the songs i've used thus far.
My first vid had Rock, hard rock, it started out with linkin park.
My second video had techno.
My third vid has R&B and Hip hop.
They are nothing alike, except for the fact that the songs were all made within the last 5 years.
So i guess, that probably means i'll need to get some older stuff, maybe some instrumentals.
That's why i'm making a vid for the Planeshift community, so that the majority will like it.
-
3 mins 57 sec of suicide brilliant absolutely brilliant. seriously tho use cool music like the stuff you use "new stuff" main reason im 13 old stuff bores me hehe...
GO RESTOUND uh... datruth
-
Datruth, it is not about when was the music made, but what is its style and what it say about. If it is about modern things, then it is bad. Sometimes this may be hidden a bit, through music style, singer and what you can do is coordinate the vision, so that when you look, you know what it is about. If vision and music don't match a lot (what is your problem), then you loose this possibility and more.
Also, to explain better, there types of music like techno, hiphop or rap which are the worst in looking the right music. They just dont make music which fit fantasy-mediefal times because they dont want to, it is one of their base, it is to sing and play about what is happening now, not 1000 years ago, because they often don't care and are mostly interested in present times and so are their fans. You have to look for bands and music type which fans like medieval-fantasy times too and then vhoose from these songs the right one.
-
What is the music in the last one?
-
some rap r&b pop stuff which made me mute...
I would suggest some heavy metal... lot's of thoose bands sing about the middleages, elves and so on
-
Something about music:
Although I really like metal, I don't think it would fit in too much, even if lyrics are more suitable...
There are bands that try to fit medievil sound, at least here in germany^^
Apocalyptica might fit into also, but I think of bands like Schelmisch, Saltatio Mortis, Subway to Sally, In Extremo, Qntal, Letzte Instanz, Thanateros, maybe even Tanzwut....thats quite a bunch as you see.
Try last.fm or feel free to contact me ;-)
-
... Saltatio Mortis, Subway to Sally, In Extremo, .., Letzte Instanz.. Tanzwut....
<3 These are nearly exactly the bands i suggested in Daruth's last video thread :)
Mod to add:
Mh, most of these band's lyrics are german, but espacially Saltatio Mortis has a bunch of really cool and progressive instrumental tracks!
-
Hm...for example Qntal got many latin or old german texts, even some french ones, the less metal more medievil songs of subway to sally from the first albums where english, also thanateros do some irish folk stuff and have english and eire lyrics...
-
What is the music in the last one?
Through the wire by Kanye west, Instrumental version.
Kinda hard to find, but very nice.
I've basically done alot of Genre's of music, that seemingly clash with some people, but that i personally love.
Rock, hip hop, techno, and i'll get some Singers in there too in the future, like Loreena McKennitt. :detective:
That was a hint by the way on my new video lol, good searching. :thumbup:
-
From the previous posts in this thread I get the feeling you're missing the point. Old music doesn't necessarily qualify as medieval-setting music, it doesn't need to be 5 years or 10 years or 100 years old to fit. What you need to look for is music that fits the history of the game and the genre. Medieval themed music is created even today.
-
I just came to think of a little list of Bands for you and also others. To some I have add also one or two special songs:
(In alphabetical order, not supposed to be complete of course^^)
Apocalyptica (Metal played by Cello, instrumental)
Blackmore' Night (the new band of Deep Purple's Richie Blackmore :thumbup:)
Des Teufels Lockvögel (?)
Dunkelschön (?)
Eichenschild (?)
Elane (?)
Faun (?)
Gregorian (Gregorian Chant, but mostly modern songs)
Honigdieb (?)
In Extremo (doen't fit my taste but they fit the theme)
Letzte Instanz (Metal, they tried many things, even a bit new metal, but songs as "Sing Halleluhja", "Rapunzel" or "Der Geigenschüler" could fit great)
Nachtgeschrei (?)
Potentia Animi (?)
Qntal (Also very great medieval music, although they use some synthies, "Vos attestor" could be great for some fighting scene)
Saltatio Mortis (personnally I don't like them, but they could fit very good)
Sava (?)
Schandmaul (see Saltatio Mortis)
Schelmish (everything could fit)
Subway to Sally (the last two albums won't do, but the earlier the album is, the more it fits^^)
Tanzwut (this is, as they say, Medieval Industrial^^, most things do, rather powerful)
Thanateros (much influenced by Irish Folk)
Therion (Some Metal with classical influences)
Volkstrott (?)
Also some classical music could go (See John Williams and Indiana Jones or Star Wars)
(?) = I myself never listened to them
Hope this helps you and all others a bit.
-
Some sort of Gothic tunes might work, not that I have seen your videos yet *Sobs*
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty and the Beast (Album) Has some good tracks that might work
Maybe something like Lacuna Coil or Evanescence (not to my taste but might fit the scene)
/me goes to try to get the videos again :sweatdrop:

What you need to look for is music that fits the history of the game and the genre. Medieval themed music is created even today.
Maybe i'll have a topic about the music i use in my videos one day.
Basically, I'm not trying to put music that fits the PS theme.
It's music that i like, that fits the video.
I can seriously say, if i add current day or old day, medieval music, the video will look very bad.
Basically it's like a guy goes to a Tattoo artist and shows him a picture of a dragon that he wants on his arm.
The tattoo artist hates the picture, sees that it's badly drawn, and has a poor sense of Perspection.
The guy says he wants that picture tattooed on his arm, regardless of what the tattoo artist thinks.
The tattoo artist says, go get your tattoo elsewhere, i won't have my repuation ruined for your tattoo.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Basically i'm the same way in a sense, i look at music choices, some i don't agree with but i still use, because i like it.
Than there are the song I love like crazy and i'd love to put in a vid.
Than there are those that just.... don't work, and would make the video look horrible in my opinion.
Find me some good medieval songs, and i'll use them for sure, but i've been given lots of stuff and i haven't really liked it much.
I'll go listen to some of UnKind's Music, and see if i like any of the artists.
-
Now I at least understand your point much better...
What we thought of, was a video for a greater community and even non-planeshifters, and therefore there should be some atmospheric music, that underlines the whole planeshift-theme.
But as far as I understand you, all you want to do is a cool video for yourself and maybe some friends...to this point, it's totally ok with me, even if you use some mainstream-pop-music.
All I wanted to tell you is, that there are many bands that fit the theme of planeshift more.
But if that is no thing you care about, then go on, because it's your video and you shouldn't care about freaks like me, who tell you about music ;D
Enjoy your videos! :thumbup:
-
No see, it's not like that, it's inbetween what you said.
You were mentioning i don't care what you think.
I do, actually i've revised my movies, from angles that i've liked to those others thought were better.
Here is how i would represent it.
What the Community wants[-------------------------------x-----------------------------------------------------------------------]What I want.
As you can see, I will make many choices because the community wants it.
I'm even making a movie just for the public, not for me, in the Your movie Thread.
My point is, i wouldn't waste server space, bandwith, my time and effert, in uploading these if it wasn't for you guys.
I've made vids before, and i have alot that are just for me, that no one else has seen.
But these vids were ESPECIAllY made for the community, so when i see people want the music to change, i listen.
I'm even listening to some of these medieval music to see what's good, so that we all can comprimise.
If you ever have any doubts or concerns, you can always pm me, or just reply to this thread.
Hm..OK^^ X-/
But stick to it, and if you want some more infos bout music, also feel free to call me :thumbup:
-
musically, nightwish are a good classical/rock blend and for battle scenes there can't be anybody better than manowar, look for the triumph of steel and into glory ride albums.
dragonforce, hammerfall, blind guardian and lot's of thoose heavy metal bands actually sings about the medieval times...
over the hills and far away is a nice one for this i think
-
Yeah I would have mentioned some of those bands myself come to think of it, just came up with the two i thought most applicable. Only problem with dragonforce tho is the inabilty to slow down, and it'd be hard to find situations where you were always rushing around everywhere. I still think manowar rule for battles though, especially if you were having a war 'power of thy sword' would be amazing.
-
OMFG!!
True Metal... nothings more embarassing for the whole metal scene^^ X-/
If you're playing Rock 'n' Roll, play it without lies.
Always be as brave and proud like an eagle in the sky.
If you want to be remembered, there is one thing you should do
When you play your music gotto KEEP IT TRUE
Ahh, I know its not Manowar, but True Metal is all the same (it's Majesty)
Btw, there is no band apart from Manowar, that could write a whole album with only 7 words (and those are the same on every album^^)
Brothers
Metal
Fight
True
Warrior
Blood
Pride
-
You forgot steel lol. And you overlook the fact that members of manowar are among the most celebrated and talented musicians ever, if you listen to achilles you can not doubt the drum solo scott columbus plays. And as for embarrasment to heavy metal that is just plain untrue. They learned german just so they could play heart of steel to their fans. that to me is not an embarrasment it is a merit. Back onto music I think you should look for a band named upnhac from vietnam, they have some great tunes which would be awesome for videos with 'hero' scenes.
-
The 5 Rules of True Metal
1. Be true.
2. Be TRVE!
3. Solos are true
4. Bass Solos are definately not true
5. Rules for True Metal are not true either ;D
There was a time, when even I listened to Manowar. But I was young and didn't know what I did. I truely repent with all my heart.
(I even saw Hammerfall live - best was there 1. Supporters (Nostradameus, everything else sucked^^]
-
Looks like the Metal fans are calling, and i gotta answer.
Peacer gave me an awesome dragonforce song, and i've been listening to some more stuff.
I'm taking all the names mentioned in the last couple threads and i'm looking for the songs listening to them and all.
I'll make sure the next vid has some metal in it.
