... Saltatio Mortis, Subway to Sally, In Extremo, .., Letzte Instanz.. Tanzwut....

<3 These are nearly exactly the bands i suggested in Daruth's last video thread :)

Mod to add:
Mh, most of these band's lyrics are german, but espacially Saltatio Mortis has a bunch of really cool and progressive instrumental tracks!

What is the music in the last one?

Through the wire by Kanye west, Instrumental version.

Kinda hard to find, but very nice.

I've basically done alot of Genre's of music, that seemingly clash with some people, but that i personally love.

Rock, hip hop, techno, and i'll get some Singers in there too in the future, like Loreena McKennitt. :detective:

That was a hint by the way on my new video lol, good searching. :thumbup:

From the previous posts in this thread I get the feeling you're missing the point. Old music doesn't necessarily qualify as medieval-setting music, it doesn't need to be 5 years or 10 years or 100 years old to fit. What you need to look for is music that fits the history of the game and the genre. Medieval themed music is created even today.

I just came to think of a little list of Bands for you and also others. To some I have add also one or two special songs:
(In alphabetical order, not supposed to be complete of course^^)

Apocalyptica (Metal played by Cello, instrumental)
Blackmore' Night (the new band of Deep Purple's Richie Blackmore  :thumbup:)
Des Teufels Lockvögel (?)
Dunkelschön (?)
Eichenschild (?)
Elane (?)
Faun (?)
Gregorian (Gregorian Chant, but mostly modern songs)
Honigdieb (?)
In Extremo (doen't fit my taste but they fit the theme)
Letzte Instanz (Metal, they tried many things, even a bit new metal, but songs as "Sing Halleluhja", "Rapunzel" or "Der Geigenschüler" could fit great)
Nachtgeschrei (?)
Potentia Animi (?)
Qntal (Also very great medieval music, although they use some synthies, "Vos attestor" could be great for some fighting scene)
Saltatio Mortis (personnally I don't like them, but they could fit very good)
Sava (?)
Schandmaul (see Saltatio Mortis)
Schelmish (everything could fit)
Subway to Sally (the last two albums won't do, but the earlier the album is, the more it fits^^)
Tanzwut (this is, as they say, Medieval Industrial^^, most things do, rather powerful)
Thanateros (much influenced by Irish Folk)
Therion (Some Metal with classical influences)
Volkstrott (?)

Also some classical music could go (See John Williams and Indiana Jones or Star Wars)

(?) = I myself never listened to them

Hope this helps you and all others a bit.

Some sort of Gothic tunes might work, not that I have seen your videos yet *Sobs*

Cradle of Filth - Cruelty and the Beast (Album) Has some good tracks that might work
Maybe something like Lacuna Coil or Evanescence (not to my taste but might fit the scene)

* Idoru goes to try to get the videos again  :sweatdrop:

From the previous posts in this thread I get the feeling you're missing the point. Old music doesn't necessarily qualify as medieval-setting music, it doesn't need to be 5 years or 10 years or 100 years old to fit. What you need to look for is music that fits the history of the game and the genre. Medieval themed music is created even today.

Maybe i'll have a topic about the music i use in my videos one day.

Basically, I'm not trying to put music that fits the PS theme.

It's music that i like, that fits the video.

I can seriously say, if i add current day or old day, medieval music, the video will look very bad.

Basically it's like a guy goes to a Tattoo artist and shows him a picture of a dragon that he wants on his arm.

The tattoo artist hates the picture, sees that it's badly drawn, and has a poor sense of Perspection.

The guy says he wants that picture tattooed on his arm, regardless of what the tattoo artist thinks.

The tattoo artist says, go get your tattoo elsewhere, i won't have my repuation ruined for your tattoo.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Basically i'm the same way in a sense, i look at music choices, some i don't agree with but i still use, because i like it.
Than there are the song I love like crazy and i'd love to put in a vid.
Than there are those that just.... don't work, and would make the video look horrible in my opinion.
Find me some good medieval songs, and i'll use them for sure, but i've been given lots of stuff and i haven't really liked it much.
I'll go listen to some of UnKind's Music, and see if i like any of the artists.
Now I at least understand your point much better...
What we thought of, was a video for a greater community and even non-planeshifters, and therefore there should be some atmospheric music, that underlines the whole planeshift-theme.
But as far as I understand you, all you want to do is a cool video for yourself and maybe some friends...to this point, it's totally ok with me, even if you use some mainstream-pop-music.
All I wanted to tell you is, that there are many bands that fit the theme of planeshift more.
But if that is no thing you care about, then go on, because it's your video and you shouldn't care about freaks like me, who tell you about music ;D
Enjoy your videos! :thumbup:
No see, it's not like that, it's inbetween what you said.
You were mentioning i don't care what you think.
I do, actually i've revised my movies, from angles that i've liked to those others thought were better.
Here is how i would represent it.
What the Community wants[-------------------------------x-----------------------------------------------------------------------]What I want.
As you can see, I will make many choices because the community wants it.
I'm even making a movie just for the public, not for me, in the Your movie Thread.
My point is, i wouldn't waste server space, bandwith, my time and effert, in uploading these if it wasn't for you guys.
I've made vids before, and i have alot that are just for me, that no one else has seen.
But these vids were ESPECIAllY made for the community, so when i see people want the music to change, i listen.
I'm even listening to some of these medieval music to see what's good, so that we all can comprimise.
If you ever have any doubts or concerns, you can always pm me, or just reply to this thread.
musically, nightwish are a good classical/rock blend and for battle scenes there can't be anybody better than manowar, look for the triumph of steel and into glory ride albums.
Yeah I would have mentioned some of those bands myself come to think of it, just came up with the two i thought most applicable. Only problem with dragonforce tho is the inabilty to slow down, and it'd be hard to find situations where you were always rushing around everywhere. I still think manowar rule for battles though, especially if you were having a war 'power of thy sword' would be amazing.
OMFG!!
True Metal... nothings more embarassing for the whole metal scene^^ X-/
When you play your music gotto KEEP IT TRUE
Ahh, I know its not Manowar, but True Metal is all the same (it's Majesty)
Btw, there is no band apart from Manowar, that could write a whole album with only 7 words (and those are the same on every album^^)
Brothers
Metal
Fight
True
Warrior
Blood
Pride
You forgot steel lol. And you overlook the fact that members of manowar are among the most celebrated and talented musicians ever, if you listen to achilles you can not doubt the drum solo scott columbus plays. And as for embarrasment to heavy metal that is just plain untrue. They learned german just so they could play heart of steel to their fans. that to me is not an embarrasment it is a merit. Back onto music I think you should look for a band named upnhac from vietnam, they have some great tunes which would be awesome for videos with 'hero' scenes.
