You know, when you have to walk up like ten flights of stairs without falling off? I don't want to download the game if it's still like that... it made the game SOOOOO gay.
Can you make it so when you walk up stairs you can't fall down? Please?

The death realm is still there. In fact, it's ten times bigger than it was before. Further, there are certain quests that you can only solve by visiting the death realm. Further, the death realm will eventually be so big that it will feel like it's as big as the realm of the living!

That, and there seems to be a trend in the modern era where closet homosexuals accuse others of being gay to cover for their own issues.
I don't know if you know any real gay people, but describing something as "gay" makes you look stupid. I'm entirely serious on this, it's almost as bad as 5p34|<I|\|6 1337.
edit: Back on topic:
The Death Realm, as it is called, is not going to go away any time soon. I doubt the developers will accomodate a request based on the idea that not "fixing" it would be "gay," either.

Well, I just thought it would be a lot more fun if the "Death Realm" went away. What the crap is it there for anyway? All you do is go up stairs. And then right when you almost get to the dragon guy... you fall off again :/

If you take the time required to read the settings about the death realm, you would understand it's purpose.
The way the DR is now, is simply because if it were developed out to be like it supposed to be, 90%, if not more, of all characters would be stuck there for the simple reason that there are much too many false deaths in the game at this point in its developement. False deaths meaning deaths occuring becuase of bugs, glitches, etc, etc.
We'd have an empty living world, and a full dead world.
Also, making comments such as you have about people's bedroom romping preference are frowned upon. Please refrain from making them.

And the Death Realm is bigger but you also fall off less often. Try not throwing your life away if you don't like it.

It's actually not that hard to get out of. Just use third perspective view, and don't move so quickly.

Would you really prefer to lose experience every time you fell off the world and died? o.O Or how about all the items you're carrying? 'cos that's the alternative really.. There's got to be some deterrent, otherwise players won't care if their character gets killed.. Repeatedly.... Sort of like they do now, but at least it's an annoyance..

I love going there. Its a lot of fun, and you meet interesting people. Plus EVERYONE can get there quickly and simply by typing /die.
You tell me a better place to have aparty, honestly.

Options:
A) Loose your pickaxe, armor, weapons, and iron ore that you spent the past few hours mining because some idiot led a grendol down into the Laanx dungeon mine.
B) Keep all that stuff, but go through a simple maze.
Personally, I prefer the maze.

I think there should be a limit to the number of times you can die. Once your character dies more than the limit, it gets frozen and you have to start a new one. This limit could be so many times in such a period and not an arbitrary maximum. It could also be that frozen characters could come back to life after some time, a month or two. This idea is just off the top of my head and needs work.
Of course this would mean that there would have to be some way to enter the death realm in a living state in order to use the services of the denizens without incurring the penalty.
One thing this would do is encourage people not to use the DR as a shortcut. It could be that dueling deaths in the DR would not count towards the limit unless you entered the DR alive and then just the once as you change state from live in the DR to dead in the DR.
Any thoughts about this?

This may come as a shock to you, but DR was implemented by the devs, thus its rp... thus whenever you go whining about death not being taken seriously... well maybe you should find a different game.
Until DR is made longer, people can and will accept it as rp... and will use it like a subway system, no pun intended.
BTW, I like the idea of coming back after some time if you die so many times in a select period... it would add depth to death, so to speak.

There is one consideration that would need to be made if such a death limit were implimented and that would be how to account for death due to bug. Certainly such deaths should not be counted towards your total but identifying them could be problematic. No-one wants to sit out a month or two with their character because their account got stuck in some kind of death loop. It would not be fair. That said, if such a bug occurred it would very likely be targetted for immediate correction even if the only simple correction found would be 'release rollback'. I have faith in the devs not allowing major bugs to stand.

It is NOT RP to use it as a subway. It is not yet finished. That is like saying that Yilikum only has one level because there is only one in game.

Figured so... anyways In resolution I feel that the plan of making DR more of a difficult trip, is a better idea... I think thats what the devs are planning to do anyways... So im sure it will add meaning to death,a nd people would rather run through maps then go through the new winding maze of DR... once it comes out, until then... welcome to subway death, please show me your tickets ;P

I think it's good to remind players of the importance of not dismissing the RP side of the DR. Yes, the current game mechs may diminish the importance of death for our characters, so we end up with strange situations in which you come back to the living for a rematch after 5 minutes. Its relevance should not be undermined. It's death after all so, in general, characters should do their best to avoid it, if they die within RP they should take the time the settings establish before coming out. No, the settings do not establish a quantity of hours or days but it does state that it's a huge place (hint: "Realm (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/realm)"). The fact that it's not huge at the moment can't overweight its RP sense.
You can add your own RP touch like "I'm too weak to cross over yet", "Every time I enter the death realm, everything's different (as if you "landed" in a different part of it every time)", or "The DR is like a dream or nightmare you forget five minutes after you wake up so everything's a blur every time you come back". I don't think there will ever be an "official explanation" prior to having a really huge DR that will actually force you to stay there for more than 5 minutes but until then, for any RP purpose, we should try to be consistent with the settings. That said, this we can all agree with: if you die in RP, avoid instant respawning.
Now, the meaning of death talk is probably as old as the PS forum though the search engine hasn't allowed me to find the very first thread about it. And I'm curious now :). So, yeah, I'd like to re-open that dreadful door and I'll appreciate any links. I found this one (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=23790.0), but I doubt it was the first big talk (although it does make some very good points). Again, I think it's important to come back to this subject since new players and new forum members come to our community every day and everyone should be aware of these discussions before reaching conclusions based only in game mechanics.

SO i''ll tone it down a whole lot. Basically the death realm isnt going anywhere. it wasnt big iun tyhe first place and its not very big now. The rest of the world can get to the end of oit without falling off. Why cant you?

Basically you sound liek you played this game to power level. you sound like the type of person who doesnt reealy need to be in planeshift because its not really a powerlevelers game. This game is still in beta. You are obviously nt looking for a unfinished game with high Roleplaying aspects.

Honestly, if there were plans to get rid of the death realm your post would have made me petition everybody around to try and keep it, for the sole purpose of making you not wanting to play. :thumbdown:
I personally like it, looks great, nice and atmospheric. I suppose i have learned to like it from the amount of time ive spent there :thumbup:

The death realm is infact my evil alt's home/citadel. In RP, just like Janeous, he has descovered a way to get into DR without dieing, and has yaught his followers the way to do that. To him, the parts of the daeth realm that are already in are his domain. Everything else(which would be the majority of the DR) is just terretory he asn't explored/claimed.
