Title: Questions
Post by: ~Dunian~ on November 27, 2006, 08:38:34 am
I'm not sure whether you folks consider this an ok question on the forums, but I read when I downloaded the latest version of Planeshift I saw that minigames had been added. Then while waiting for one of the maps to load, I read that there was a game in one of the taverns. After searching both of the taverns that I know of, I was unable to find it. Am I on a wild groffel chase?

I also was wondering how one started roleplaying? I thought I'd ask here so I don't annoy anyone ingame by not doing it right.

Sometimes when I try to talk to NPCs (Saying something like "Hello") I don't get any reply. Is it a bug?

Since I've been away for awhile, I just can't remember where I was with some of my quests. If I discard them can I start them over?

Lastly, what should I fight after crackers? And what after that? (I can't think of an IC way to ask this ingame)

Hiya!

Right-click on one of the tables in Brado's tavern :]

It helps to have a personality, behavior, and perhaps history of your character written out for yourself. It starts out as storytelling - who are you playing? What are their goals? Why are they here? After you have a character fleshed out, it's a matter of responding to your surroundings as your character. We do have a guide to roleplay (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=10310.0) written by one of our community members if you're interested.

Yep, and a known and soon-to-be-fixed one :]

Definitely. You may not get a quest from an NPC every time you ask, because they have a lock-out sometimes. If you don't get anything the first time, try waiting a bit (an hour, perhaps a few) and try again.

There's something about that in the Getting Started In-Game (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=21480.0) guide.

10 minutes and 20 seconds. You folks are amazing. Thank you very much for the player guide, looks like it should answer alot of my questions.  Also, I can't get the updater to work right, and it runs out of mirrors a little over half way. Should I still try to report bugs? Or wait until I get the updater working? :sorcerer:

Oi, I want the updater to work so much! (http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6632/grinby0.gif) Feel free to report what bugs you find, but I would still recommend searching through recent threads on this forum just in case they've already been pointed out. Are you familiar with the BugTracker (http://www.hydlaa.com/bugtracker/) as well? It has a listing of every officially reported bug (here's a list from newest to oldest (http://www.hydlaa.com/bugtracker/query.php?projects=&versions=&components=&order=bug_id&sort=desc&op=doquery)) and it wouldn't hurt to check through this as well. If you want to search for a specific kind of bug, use this Advanced Query (http://www.hydlaa.com/bugtracker/query.php?op=query&form=advanced) page.

The "Guides and Tutorials" forum section has a lot of nifty info, aye :]
