Title: Something nice about Planeshift
Post by: Leafmint on April 13, 2007, 11:39:40 pm
Players can be quite a demanding bunch. Maybe its good once in a whle to look at what we like about the game. I do not propose to make a sycophant thread but perhaps it may be good to just once in a while put into words the things we often take for granted.

Here is one:
The monster npc's are original and not a simple rehash of DnD sterotypes.

I love the art ingame and I do like some of the older players that know why the devs have worked so hard to make this game. [some of the newer players can have the same said for them too]

I really like the community, to be honest.  Sure, I have rough times with people but, for the most part, it's a great bunch of people.

And there is something I love...
I'll give you a hint
it's short :P

ewwww, even the Dwarf females :p

No offence to the modeller, dont think there is much you could do with them, maybe a beard would make them look better ;)

I was having fun with your last post, Fozzharn.

You used the wrong "to/two/too"
I think the correct one would be "two"...I understand, I enjoy three big boobs myself :D

Let me guess... the three big boobs thing aside, I'd say... a shorter nickname? ;)

how has this topic gone from things you like about PS to boobs?

Well it would seem that another good thing is that apart from attracting older role players, PS also apparently has quite a following among adolescent males.

I still maintain that finding cartoon characters attractive is a sign of low self esteem.

Well, I suffer from self loathing. Is that near enough?

ANYWAYS....

I like the fact that there are more actual role players then 1337 g4m3z

also I like the races

the idea of yliakum

oh and the devs and moderators are quite helpful

the effort put into it all by people

and the in-depth history and in depth study of the races.

Also I don't mind the fighting system.

Oh. I am dreadfully sorry. In which case allow me to be intoxicated by the exuberance of my own verbosity.
The delicately drafted drawing available for viewing in a prior section of this thread has some rather humorous qualities….. In other words…… rofl  ;D

:offtopic: (enough about boobs, newb stupidity and stereotyping)

Planeshift is an awsome game because people roleplay and are very mature roleplayers that actually roleplay.  It's easy to meet people online and friends come very well.  The community is nice and, unlike some works in progress that seem hopeless, there is still plenty of hope that this game will only get better with age.

Wasn't a similar thread (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=28157.0) already done?

Here are the good points I already pointed:

http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=28157.msg323623#msg323623 (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=28157.msg323623#msg323623)

Plus:

- Community(not on all cases of course, but overall) makes a otherwise limited game much better(Planeshift, on its current alpha state, would have little appeal without its community and roleplay focus). On other cases, good games are spoiled by their communities.
- You don't need to use the forums to play the game
- There are enough good people in the community to motivate you to continue playing and developing roleplays regardless of negative issues.
- The project is alive(Sadly, lots of free games die during their development)
- You can bypass most of the limitations and negative points with roleplaying and imagination.
- You have an alternative to grinding mobs, different from the typical MMOGs. Combat sucks, and thus encourages roleplaying over powerlevelling, so it's not only a negative aspect.
- You can try anything to improve Roleplay on anywhere, but doing it on the Death realm sadly seems to be feeding off a dead horse... but it does not mean the Death Realm is intended to be a 0% RP 100% Duelling environment, and things can be done about it... if enough people participate.

Off: Now, the day I see (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0d/User-trash.svg/48px-User-trash.svg.png) instead of (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bd/User-trash-full.svg/48px-User-trash-full.svg.png) will be excellent, but that is coming soontm. Or never... some people complain even about something like System Shock 2...
PM me if you want to know where I got this view from instead of pushing it on this thread.

Gotta wait for the DR to be expanded, methinks.
