Title: The n00b has just one last question...
Post by: Vitiated on November 16, 2007, 06:53:12 pm
Okay, so I have like quite a few of those Hexa things
How do I use them/change them to trias?

Sorry. ><;;

I'm a beginner, guys, we all have to start somewhere

Ok first off, whats to be sorry about? And we don't call new players n00bz, as thats kinda mean xD

Secondly don't be so timid, the only person around here that bites is Elvi... And if you throw him some cat nip he forgets about everything.

Now, there are no ATMs in planeshift, although if you need a smaller amount of money say, only a few trias, kill something weak and sell its hide. I've never been all that good at collecting specific pieces of money, but I know for some quests specific pieces are needed. try selling some stuff. Say you need three trias, sell a rat hide, and those are easy to get a hold of.

pretty much just go looting monsters, and then sell what you find, you're bound to get the stuff you need.

I'm pretty sure a more sophisticated method is being worked on by the devs, though.

Thanks for the help. n_n

:P

that, critical?

Ahem well thats what I would call constructive-criticism, no one is attacking you for being new, or without knowledge, they just are trying to help.

No one trolls threads looking to smash other players into oblivion.. hehe... Well, not anymore at least.  :whistling:

*Listbard shakes his fist and sicks his horde of Alts on Elvi*

Careful who you zap mr. elvi, for what goes around comes around.  ;D

:P annnnyways.... Welcome to Planeshift, again, have fun, read the players guide, and don't forget to roleplay, and be friendly, as much as your character will allow anyways.

And trust me, thats not criticism xD
I know the people around here decently, we're good fellas and gals, one of the kindest and most helpful communities *I've* been to. You'll find it nice and toasty.

Back on topic, I believe there is actually one npc, in Ojaveda even, who acts as a money changer. Look around up past Trasok's shop near the hides dealer if I am not mistaken. I may be wrong but I think I saw one around there the other day. There might be one in Hydlaa, too, but I do not recall running into him/her. Most merchants give change and do not require you to have the exact number of tria for your purchase, it is just the quests that seem to need the exact currency.

Well where is that?
I haven't in the foggiest where I am at the moment anyway.  XD

If you are looking into town from the gates Brado's Tavern will be right in front of you, Trasok's shop is the first one on the left against the wall (he is a dwarf), and so on up the hill. Talking to the npcs helps ;)

Worrem Dhoshi is a moneychanger. He's in East Hydlaa.

And he actually changes money now, instead of just bragging about it then refusing to make change? I'll have to check and see next time I'm around East Hydlaa.

I went over to Worrem and if there is a way to actually make change now implemented I couldn't figure out how to get it to work.

ooh,  ooh!
An answer I actually know!

"give" him a circle
He will ask you how you want your change - octas, hexas or tria

You can give him a circle or 250 tria.
You can give him an octa or 50 tria.
You can give him a hexa or 10 tria.

You can also give him 50 or 250 tria in any combination of denominations. The only thing you can't get is a combination in return.

Ok it seems I am wrong about the money changer in ojaveda (the place cat people start). Orchibaly Gupleferd claims to trade in coins but it is apparently not the same thing. It looks like you will need to go to the other town to make change without purchasing something.

Nice, so it does work. :) Just changes tria to higher denominations and vice versa. I guess with a couple of trades a person could get any amount they needed, i.e. give 1 circle, get 250 tria, give 50 tria 5 times get 5 octa, and there you go, a person has essentially changed 1 circle for 5 octa.

is there a way to trade more than one circle down to tria at a time? eg 4 circles into 1000 tria?

No. Give one circle and when he asks, say you want it in octa, get 5 octa. It's a one-step process. :)

There is currently no way to trade multiple circles through Worrem. However, it also means that if you're trading with him and there's a crash, you won't lose more than 250 tria. :)

Money matters like banking and currency exchange are still in their infancy. So be patient but until then enjoy the exchange! :)

I seem to have a knack with starting popular 'newbie help' threads.

It's cause you have good and valid questions that don't appear to be things covered in the FAQs. So good for you. :)

Also just wanted to say that you've shown better behaviour and patience than a lot of not quite new people, especially on these forums. You're definitely the kind of newbie we want to see more of. Someone willing to learn and not afraid to ask good questions, even though the answers aren't always equally positive.

Definitely hope to see you in-game some time and good luck with getting to know Planeshift!
