Well I know there are like a ton of appreciation threads for the dev's because I have posted in five of them since my being apart of this community. Seeing the players say thank yous and great job is probably getting old though I am sure they appreciate it. I voted for "Give more constructive feedback on what they do, not only appreciation." <---- I think that at least helps a little more than saying thank you.

YAY! pointy sticks rock  ;D

Really though I went with giving more constructive feedback.

I've always tried to express myself as respectful as I can, be it a complaint, a critique or a wish. I surely could have posted more often in threads, where it's been about being grateful for the developers' hard work, but despite all the rants and complaints that appear on this board, I thought they'd know about how much we appreciate their efforts. After all, many of us are playing (and testing) this alpha version of a game with our heart's blood and favour it to other, even full developed MMORPGs.

And this, playing PS with heart's blood, is in my opinion the reason for the rants that appear when something went wrong in the players' opinion. They lose temper because they are.. hmm... 'in love' with the project, so to say, which makes them unable to formulate their complaints respectful at times. I, however, have failed upon that aim as well a few times, which I apologize for. Nevertheless, rants are critique too, miserably formulated, often angry, sometimes disappointed, or just purely cold-hearted; but they are critique, provided by people who want the best for the project, and of course the best for themselves. However, they don't see that they could have done much better in aiding the project, if they just expressed themselves more mature, and without lessering the efforts of the dev team, since that is what discourages the team from spending their time on the project, but much more, from spending their time on the forums and listening to our critique. We all need to be more patient with eachother, the dev team with the community, and the community with the dev team. Remember, we're all in the same boat; dig too many holes and it will sink.

Patience is the key, and that's what I think needs to be worked on, hence, my vote went to #2.

*Edit* Only the devs and WTBs shall vote? *removes vote*

Smack all the whiners and complainers on the head with a big, pointy stick.
True fans of the game defend their game of choice.  Oh, and join the PR team.

Edit: Retracting vote after being confused just like Rongar.  I still stand by what I say here, however, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me why this poll is only for devs/wtbs.

The poll is intended for Developers and WTB Devs to vote only, not us players since we can't answer for them.

So come on Devs, let yourselves be heard here! I don't think it's just important that you guys listen to us but we should know what's going on in your heads as well and what we can do to make things more pleasant.

Thanks for submitting the poll, Neko.

I'm sure all the devs are disappointed with the lack of "Send them money and hott pics" :P

If I were a dev it would be the pointy sticks one.  But, with moderation.  We don't want people pointy sticking constructive criticism (Note: I am the exception here.  I pointy stick everybody)

this is getting seriously off-topic.  :offtopic:

so...any thoughts or comments from the devs reading this?

since a lot of the devs dont read the forum, i dont think many will vote or reply to this thread. The idea is nice but the devs should not have to ask for feedback from players that is positive, players should be greatful for what the devs do.

The devs work very hard to get the game out to you guys and mostly all i read on this forum is how much you guys hate the features the devs work so hard to add to the game. Very rarely do i hear from a player that they like a feature that has been added to the game or a change that has been made.

Whoa! Caarrie slow down and read. No one was complaining. Actually this was a thread made as Neko put in his first post on the request of a player. I think the player was hoping to get an idea of what the community could do to show their appreciation to the devs in a helpful manner.  Instead of making a thread to appreciate the dev with like a million and one posts saying the same things. This thread was created to find out what the dev's would appreciate from us as players.

Most of the players here are glad for what the dev's do, don't take out the complaints from stupid, grumpy player posts out on people who are trying to show their love. Wow there really has been a down fall to these threads if the GM's are this uptight.

I know what this thread is for, and i dont really see a use most devs know how the players see their work. it is posted all over this forum. I was not talking directly about this thread but all threads players have made toward the devs work with this game.

:) Ok fair enough. I just hope the dev's also see the positive comments and not just the negitive. From your post it sounds like all they read is the negitive. I would surely hope not.  After all people wouldn't write the amount of stories they do and post them if this game was so bad, or ask for places to donate to PS, or come to the defence of the game and dev's when idiot players post huge negitive posts. It's a two way street on these forums. It isn't all negitive. For some reason though the community seems focused on only the negitive and that is just a shame.

I think its the fact that the negative=must come up with solution, and positive, the only discussion that would be able to generate would be a line of thank yous and I like its...not very much discussion there. Theres also the fact that we do the same thing in real life---give out more negative comments than positive.

I like the pointy stick idea. Perhaps you could put a massive stick everytime you lock a board made by those

idiot players post huge negitive posts.

I know what this thread is for, and i dont really see a use most devs know how the players see their work. it is posted all over this forum. I was not talking directly about this thread but all threads players have made toward the devs work with this game.

This is where I disagree, I think most devs eventually get disappointed by those few, immature and self-centered players who bash any change that disadvantages them. It's normal but it doesn't mean that is how all the players think. Your previous post shows me that at least you have a negative view of how we guys think of you all and I'm afraid it's a view several devs have by now. While I know there are quite a few of us who really do appreciate your work and all the changes.

Sadly negativity always resonates louder than positivity.

Anyway Zorbels got exactly what I wanted to do with this thread towards the Devs .. then towards the players I want to say this.

The Developers make an effort to listen to us and please us even though they definitely don't have to. This is their playground and they not only let us play in it but they even ask us what we want to play with. Too rarely I see the pleasure returned, too few of us seem to care about the Developers and their wishes or their hardship. They're people too, good people even and they also deserve to be listened to and supported. So consider any of you who immaturely bitch at a change in the game or an action of a Dev or GM for their own selfish reasons, instead of maturely discussing differences of opinion between people, smacked with a big pointy stick!

One day, long ago, I listened to a Video DVD being produced (I was a DVD authorer years ago) about a classic violine player (Israeli or similar complicated nationality), and his conclusion about his childhood:

A bad teacher tells you that you were wrong.
A good teacher explains to you how to improve.

I have seen so many times that people were great in complaining about your faults and mistakes. The more complicated part about criticism is instead to suggest a better solution.

I wish you all to get enough creative players with good feedback, to stand the noise from the smashmouths.

I am confused by this. I thought the game is in a ‘testing stage’ shall we say and therefore all feedback is important for the final version, whenever that may be. So criticisms should be welcome to make the final product the best it can be.

Though Zan is correct when he said, “Sadly negativity always resonates louder than positivity.” It is always true a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch. We should be glad for what we have because it is great!

It makes me sad to think that it is some kind of popularity contest here. Who likes whom and all the boloney that everyone says. Personally, I am getting a little tired of hearing about this player being hurt by another player or that the developers are not listening and that the GM’s are not doing their job. I know that the people behind the scenes work very hard. We are all a team now we should grow up and act like it. Think of it this way, if we were working on a assembly line making cars and the person who puts the drivers side door on says he does not want to do his job that day, no cars would be completed. We all have to work together to get the job done.

All the players, developers, GM’s and anyone else here in this community have a job to do. I say we should do it and work together. Stop fussing at each other and act like a team. If we do not then maybe before this project is done it might all fall apart. The question is ‘How can the players make the developers feel more appreciated?’ The answer is simple, play the game and enjoy it, if something is wrong tell the appropriate person and go on with what you were doing until it gets fixed. I wish the bickering would stop between everyone.

Btw, I did not vote because I think it is pointless. Nothing will change until attitudes change.

Somehow it was rather a question from DEVs to DEVs, according to the forum it was posted in.

More or less. ;)

Technically it was a question from me to devs, Ligh ... Neko was just kind enough to create the poll for me and I suppose this section was picked because it has the highest chances of a Dev actually seeing the topic then. I'm sure there are others that care about the answers here though.

Though I have the same concern as Zan. I really hope the Dev's don't think to negatively towards all players and know it is just some who don't appreciate their work. If I didn't appreciate it I wouldn't be jumping to defend this game, the staff and the community everytime an insulting post was made. I also wouldn't put the effort into alot of the story wirting and roleplaying that I do.
