Title: Nominate your favorite Role Player

Rules:

Write only up to five choices.
It does not matter if the player still plays.
You may state in a short paragraph why this player was so important to you.

My choices are:

1) Indygo
2) Einnol
These two players taught me how to role play and I have never found anyone like them again.

3) Agara
No one made me use my imagination quiet like her. This made role play a challenge that was well worth it.

4) Noriin
5) Velh
It is a disappointment when you are not in game when I go in because it is so much fun to role play with you guys.

Let’s see who you nominate. If enough people join in maybe we can ask a forum moderator to make this a pole to see who wins the top spot.

I guess that's not exactly the kind of "list" you expected, since they're all still playing. Of course, there are plenty I miss, however things move on and currently those who I have great RP and fun with currently, are those you find on the list.

So many names I read, so many times I can only agree... Still I'll try to mention a few myself.

- Maanahr, one of my first city guides and still present, the "Explorer template"
- Zorbels + Dylia, they dragged me into roleplaying
- Lolitra + Hoody, one of the greatest source of creativity
- Shauri, Zinn, Illysia, Solita, Lesiros - my "family"
- Yadili + Ileresa, such a unique couple (although I once compared them to Hassadria + Miaua)

Well if we're all breaking the number rule....

Underthemoon - The BEST roleplayer in Planeshift. No one can devise a twisty turny and keep-you-guessing plot like Underthemoon, and no one can pull it off. He does amazing things with roleplays, he makes them enjoyable and can usually get lots of people involved. He is one of my... Mentors, for lack of a better word.

Zhai - My most prized member ever in the Rangers of Yliakum, I remember getting Zhai (ICly) from Xillix, who'd referred her to Farren and the Rangers. Zhai was fresh and new and had great potential for RPing, and it grew, eventually leading into the Dwarvesbane-Dwarven Star war, where Zhai's RP became superb and finely honed. I really wish I could say I had more to do with her development, but I do not think I had much to do with it beyond the initial RPing.

Duraza - Duraza is likely just under UtM for his plots. I've seen people accuse him of 'godmoding', but then, I've seen the same people call other players 'godmoders' for doing the same things (or in some cases, worse). However, Duraza is very good at creating interesting plotlines that, while people may find them the same over and over, that is PART of the plot. You'll see his genius someday, non-believers. All in all, I find Duraza's characters to be interesting and find him fun to RP with in general.

Lolitra - Lolitra is a very nice person, never aims to hurt anyone OOCly or anything, and in general tries to bring fun to everyone with her RPs. She accomplishes for the most part by creating smooth, mostly stress-free, and creative RPs, and she manages to bring in many groups, even the small ones like my own Rangers of Yliakum.

Saelan - I haven't known Saelan as long as I've known the previous people on the list, but in a short time he has become one of my greatest RP allies in Planeshift. His RP style seems similar to my own, quite compatible to say the least, and his character(s) are interesting and fun. He seems to be budding in the RP plot creation area, and while he has not yet attained a status of fame like UtM, or even like Duraza, he certainly has the potential. He is new(er) after all, compared to the other great RP plotters. Recently, his character and my character have become sort of like best friends, and thus, RPing with him is a blast, fun and exciting.

Suno Regin - If you do not recognize him by this name, you may recognize Mitaki, but this was one of my earliest RP friends, back before Farren was who he is today, back when Farren used two longswords, not two shortswords. Ever since, he has always been my friend, even when he didn't play PS, and when he came back, he might not have been the BEST RPer, but he put out the effort, and improved all the time, and became much better. He is one of my favorites because he is fun to RP with.

Proglin - I tend to forget him in these kinds of things, but I believe he was not only a great RPer, but he brought fun to everyone with his RPs. They weren't plots and such, but were a different sort of RP.

Kaerli - While Kaerli may seem to have trouble RPing realistically sometimes, he has a few problems that I understand and aren't necessarily his fault. People seem to think badly of him, and it isn't truly fair. I cannot explain why he might have certain trouble with things, it is not my place to do so, and he may personally disagree with my opinions on it. Either way, despite whether or not he is a 'good' RPer, he is still one of my favorites because I can always depend on him to make my own RP experience more fun and most importantly... Less lonely.

Valiki, Eretelien, Nalelack, etc. (Waddling Yulbars, basically) - This little gang, even when they're not getting themselves hunted by evil people, are fun to RP with simply because of the nature of their characters and guild. I can't say much else about them, and don't think I really need to.

Note: If you're my friend and I didn't add you... It simply means your name didn't pop up in my mind while I was typing this. Nothing more. It doesn't mean you suck at RP... It might, but not necessarily. Don't fret over it, i will likely add more to my list if I think of any big ones I missed. Oh, and thank you for you two who added me :) I mostly didn't add you to mine cause I haven't thought of a good reason to type up yet, but I do enjoy RPing with you the few times we meet Gag, and Gharan, I'm not sure if I've RPed with you in a long time o.O



EDIT: Oh crap, forgot one that I meant to add....


Xillix - Xillix, back when he RPed, played a slightly fanatical Laanx high priestess person thing that wore a jester hat and was funky looking. But Xillix promoted RP and RPed very well, also helping newbs [not to be confused with n00bs] learn to play the game in a roleplayed fashion. I donated all of my money to the Vespers of Laanx (that's why my character is broke these days) and was at one time a member of the guild. In the end, Xillix's RP affected me I think, ad perhaps influenced the way I RP.

In absolutely no order at all:

- Noriin:
  Amazing RP of a constant standard, and incredible characters. Nothing much more to say than that...
Except that however much Eathon came off worst in those RPs, I still enjoyed them.  :D
- Parallo:
  ...Great books, really interesting RP - and, of course, some great OOC chat- and amazing characterisation. Without those RPs, Eathon wouldn't have stayed long at all.

- Rinenud
  Again, incredible characterisation, and what RP we've had has been brilliant. Rinenud, Tzaen and Eathon together are just... As soon as I think of a word, it'll be here.

- Lolitra
  I am getting repetitive here, aren't I? Again, what RP we've had has been brilliant- and the RHoP has acted as catalyst for a good number of my other RPs.

- The Waddling Yulbars
  Every single RP I've had with the Yulbars has been incredible.. Although I can't understand half of what some of them say.

I'm afraid i haven't said nearly enough about anyone, so any one of the above can fill in the sentence below:

Rinenud, simply for the fact that he rps as I would like to if I had the ability.

Eathon. No other player has impressed me so much in such a short space of time.

Sangwa & Nurahk, simply because they were almost idols to me when I first started. That has of course reversed with the passage of time.

Zan/Hwnae, for some amazing interaction and, at times, actually endearing ic friendship early in Parallo's time.

These charaters are the people who I looked up too as Rper's and they set wonderful examples for me to learn from. Me. Because I've somehow managed to not get banned. From the game, at least... Well, I don't really play anymore. Um, whatever.

Someone whose name I just forgot. (Give me some slack: I just had a head injury. x< )

Uuuhhh... Kieve? He... does stuff... which is good? And fiery...

Listbard! Because I love him in an obsessive sadistic kind of way. <3

And last but not least: Duraza! Because he's effing fun to annoy.

Popularity contest number... umm ... what?  18ish now? :P

I'm loving the ego boost that's coming with seeing my name so often but, come on... stop lying :P  Chances are I was mean to you, insulted you or tried to kill you (love ya, Zorbels :P ) ... or you're Parallo.

Anyways, I hate and love these things... My ego loves them because... come on, am I ever not mentioned?  But besides that it's just a bunch of "I'll put these people and see how many people have me there."  Sure, it's not always like that.  Zorbels for instance really just didn't want to miss anybody and wanted to give hugs to all who deserved it, which I think is great.  Others are just representing their groups.  But when it comes down to it, for the most part, the people who come here look to see how often their name is mentioned.  For me, that's great, you all love me so I'm all over the place, but for some lower key roleplayers, it's not so good.  Imagine roleplaying for hours and then not getting mentioned once, not because you're not a good roleplayer but, because you don't really have one group or really close friends.

I have my preferences when it comes to roleplayers (and I have my least favourites too... My very often voiced least favourites) but, they know who they are.  They are the ones who get whispers almost every time they are on, the ones I go say hi to in the taverns and the ones I try to kill (love ya, Zorbels :P).

So... Stop listing me.  Whenever you think "Oh, Cado fits in my list" stop yourself and think of somebody who hasn't shown up on anybody's list yet but really deserves to and let them take my place because, when you get right down to it, it'll help them more than me and god knows they deserve it more.

To be honest Waylander I made this thread for two reasons:

1) to give us forum readers something else to read besides all the technical threads that have become the norm on this forum.

2) this gives the role players a chance to see who is considered a 'good role player' by the people who role play.

This is sort like the "Say Thank You" thread without saying Thank You.

If I was a new player and wanted to role play I certainly would look for Lolitra as a role model being how many times her name is mentioned. Lolitra is amazing. When Zorbels returns I know I will be looking for her to make interesting role plays. I have had the honor to play with Gwinn and I thought she was awesome to play with. My hat is also off to Izzabella who is a wonderful role player also. There are so many that had a unique style that lead to others having their own unique style and it makes PS so much fun.

To be most honest I did do this because I know people like praise and I do think that our role players deserve praise because they are the best of the best. So keep nominating your favorite role player. Maybe someone who has not played in ages might return if they see there name.

I also hope this will inspire a whole new generation of players to role play as well.

Ya, in a way I didn't want to miss anyone but this list was also a way for me to show those who might have never known where they stood with me how much I valued the RP enviroment they created. Believe it or not I didn't add everyone though, I do have about 30 more names that didn't make the list because their characters didn't leave a strong RP impression that those on my list did.

I suppose this list has both good and bad qualities to it. As Waylander mentioned there sadly will be those people who double and triple check to see if their on the list purely for their big ego's. Some won't take it seriously and nominate themselves trying to appear funny. I suppose it could get a person down about themselves if they see their name isn't on this list. I guess it could be looked at as a popularity contest. But that for the most part only involves those with huge egos really, otherwise why would one care?

I also see the positive side. It helps those who are newish to the community to see who the other RPer's view as a good roleplayer. This might help those new to the game search out these nominees and learn from their RPing skills. It also gives the community a chance to show their respect to the hard working RPer's. I really see no one on these lists that didn't deserve the recognition they are receiving (Besides the self nominated ones :/). I admit that seeing my name a few times made me feel great and showed me that I am not forgotten. All my hard work is still with those I roleplayed with. Makes it worth all the sweat, blood and tears I put into this game. It also makes me want to return. (Come on computer guy! Fix meh damn computer faster! :/)

It just comes down to how you view things. :)

You can kill me anytime! Of course you were mean to me at times but that is why I liked your character silly. You weren't the same as everyone else. It is obvious from all the names on the lists that there is still role play in PS.

Well, my favourite *people* on PS in general are a relatively small group as it is, with some strictly-PL'ers mixed in there...the roleplayers in this group are Noriin, Roled, Farren, and RichardShru (not sure he's even playing these days, though). Whether it's the names listed or their alts I've played with, they've given me the bulk of my roleplay experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

There are a lot of players I haven't RP'ed with enough to really add to this list (or haven't RP'ed with but would like to), however. I guess my characters just haven't been social enough. :P

Every time I check the list I see names and think.. GEES yeah him/her  Marqsaint, Kimari are two more. Just about everyone from the outlaws during the magi /outlaw war... man that was so much fun......... great bunch of players!

I enjoy reaction rp ers,  they don't say anything but just react to what is going on and run off. Unfortunately I never catch the name of those characters... they trot off so fast.. so all you reactionaries. take a bow!

The people who say "i'm sorry I am so bad at rp" Your trying and usually, are decent at rp.... ;)
