I'm just wondering if the guild tag that attaches to a crafted weapon is static or if it changes should the character leave the guild or the guild changes its name.

it's static
-
ah good so if I craft an item every time my guild name changes I can have a record of those names.
-
I do not believe that such is the intention of the mechanic, so it should potentially be classified as an exploit?
-
why it should be considered an exploit? when the item was crafted the player was in that certain guild
-
Will we be able in the future to craft weapons with the inscription of our choice as opposed to the current one?
-
Apparently these designations are not static. Having made my first guild name change my crafted items no longer have a guild tag listed.
-
Report it! :)

did you stack the weapons or keep them seperate?
-
The guild designation simply disappeared when I changed my guilds name. None of the weapons I crafted bore any guild designation. They all still listed me as crafter.
So I found a new bug then to report?
Hmm I better test this more before I report it. I am fairly certain my items had the guild tag but my guild has not been in existence very long. I am pretty sure I did the crafting subsequent to creating the guld.
To answer Caarrie the items were stacked, 4 superior knives and 4 standard knives all created in the same session. I did nothing more than examine them subsequent to using the guild leader's guild name change function.

when you stack crafted weapons the quality and the guild name will change, so i would have to say at this time not a bug.
-
I think you misunderstood me. When you stack crafted items that are identical other than quality only the quality changes in my experience. The crafter information does not. These items were all crafted by me -- there is no such thing as a weapon grade knife that can be bought from npc's. Also, not previously mentioned I had a dagger and a claymore which I crafted and which were never stacked with anything that now also have no guild information. I am almost positive that these were subsequent to my guild creation, I definitely remember seeing guild information on all these items previous to my guild name change. I have been known to remember things that never were in the past so I equivocate. If I really thought I was remembering wrongly I would not have continued with this discussion.
I am currently in the process of gathering materials to craft with of several types, I expect to craft a knife, a sword, an axe, a shield part, an ingot or stock, some food before I change my guilds name again. This will take some time not just because I have to sift through my mules for the proper books/equipment.

Posted to bug tracker (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/flyspray/index.php?do=details&task_id=2628)
I discovered that no new items created have the guild information. I only checked with my main character, the guild leader. I have not had a chance to change the guild name again but that did not appear to be needed to see this bug.

they are in the sense they use an id if you change the guild name you won't keep the old name but if you leave the guild and join another they won't update. as for the bug can you check after next reboot/crash?
-
Seeing as how I crashed about 20 times today, that did not seem to make a difference. I did however honour your request by logging in again and making sure that the guild information is still missing from those items I made today. It was. Perhaps this is peculiar to bilbous for some reason as he is very old.
-
no i meant server reboot.
-
ah ok I misunderstood. I have no control over that though.
It seemed odd that it wasn't just the guild information, it was the whole guild information line, not even a blank space where it should have been.
-
I will try to check this out, but the first thing that crossed my mind while reading all of this, you mention "Perhaps this is peculiar to bilbous for some reason as he is very old."
Maybe obvious, but double check to ensure he is still in a guild? If you are not in a guild, it will not show a guild name.
And as far as changing guilds, assuming you dont exploit it by stacking, if you make a sword and imprint upon it a symbol of your name and your guild, and you change guilds later, wouldn't your previously crafted swords keep the symbols they were crafted with? Unless you re-craft them, yes. (IRL as well as in PS). Tattoo a name on your arm, break up later with that person and start seeing someone else, will the tattoo magicaly change to match the new name? Nope. Same kind of thing. I dumped quite a few non-guilded sabres to harnquist when I joined my guild, simply because I wanted my guild name on my swords. And yes, I know about what I consider an exploit, Stacking them to change the guild info or names, I dont do that.
Hope this helps.
-
bilbous is definitely still in the guild, he is the guild leader. I did not change guilds I changed the guilds name. I do not think any of the other characters have crafting ability but krakatoe might. I'll log on with him and see if it is any different for him.
-
I got someone to join long enough to make an ingot, their item did not show the guild information either so it is not limited to this character or account.

are you sure the guild is not secret, as far as i can recall secret guilds dont show the guild tag on crafted items.
-
Hmm you are correct. I have absolutely no idea how that happened, perhaps it was a stray mouse-click as it was not something I intended to do. Sorry for the trouble and thank you for the help.
Guess I can go back to ruminating about the original purpose of this thread and express my disappointment that the guild information is always the current guildname and so items cannot be used as a record of past guild names.

i tought you were talking about changing guild not changing guild name.
The items are connected to you by your id and your guild id so changing names doesn't allow to keep the old names. on a implementation consideration this is way better than just assigning text to the item. less overhead on the forum and computers works better with numbers than with text
-
No problem and thank you for taking the time to consider this red-herring I threw up. I really do not like wasting other peoples time.
The original purpose of this thread was something of a passing fancy and it turned into something more when I thought something particularly strange happened.
I suppose It can sink into oblivion where it belongs now.
