ah ok I misunderstood. I have no control over that though.

It seemed odd that it wasn't just the guild information, it was the whole guild information line, not even a blank space where it should have been.

I will try to check this out, but the first thing that crossed my mind while reading all of this, you mention  "Perhaps this is peculiar to bilbous for some reason as he is very old."

Maybe obvious, but double check to ensure he is still in a guild?  If you are not in a guild, it will not show a guild name.

And as far as changing guilds, assuming you dont exploit it by stacking, if you make a sword and imprint upon it a symbol of your name and your guild, and you change guilds later, wouldn't your previously crafted swords keep the symbols they were crafted with?  Unless you re-craft them, yes. (IRL as well as in PS).  Tattoo a name on your arm, break up later with that person and start seeing someone else, will the tattoo magicaly change to match the new name?  Nope.  Same kind of thing.  I dumped quite a few non-guilded sabres to harnquist when I joined my guild, simply because I wanted my guild name on my swords.  And yes, I know about what I consider an exploit, Stacking them to change the guild info or names, I dont do that.

Hope this helps.

bilbous is definitely still in the guild, he is the guild leader. I did not change guilds I changed the guilds name. I do not think any of the other characters have crafting ability but krakatoe might. I'll log on with him and see if it is any different for him.

I got someone to join long enough to make an ingot, their item did not show the guild information either so it is not limited to this character or account.

are you sure the guild is not secret, as far as i can recall secret guilds dont show the guild tag on crafted items.

Hmm you are correct. I have absolutely no idea how that happened, perhaps it was a stray mouse-click as it was not something I intended to do. Sorry for the trouble and thank you for the help.

Guess I can go back to ruminating about the original purpose of this thread and express my disappointment that the guild information is always the current guildname and so items cannot be used as a record of past guild names.

i tought you were talking about changing guild not changing guild name.
The items are connected to you by your id and your guild id so changing names doesn't allow to keep the old names. on a implementation consideration this is way better than just assigning text to the item. less overhead on the forum and computers works better with numbers than with text

No problem and thank you for taking the time to consider this red-herring I threw up. I really do not like wasting other peoples time.
The original purpose of this thread was something of a passing fancy and it turned into something more when I thought something particularly strange happened.
I suppose It can sink into oblivion where it belongs now.
