I don't want to rain on anyones victory here but I am not so convinced that this voting system was calculated very fairly. For example I voted for Cherppow in the best artist catagory. I don't see it in the list in the other thread (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=34418.msg395131#msg395131) though. I also voted Janner for worst speller (I know he'll forgive me), yet he isn't even on the list like Chreppow. I mean no offence to Mathy but I am not sure this was done correctly or some votes were missed maybe?

I do believe that's because no one Pm'ed mathy to nominate Cherppy to be considered for the voting upon stage. So not enough voted for him as a write in vote when it came time to do that.

Offtopic: Thinking about best art dev some more... is that fine gentleman still around that did all the original concept inked layouts of all the Kran structures? I really think he was one of the best 2d artists this project has ever had. His forum name escapes my memory atm though... grr.. hate being old.

Zorbels I thought you meant to vote for the people who were nominated in the last thread and not to make new nominations. I was going to PM you about this, but I have been very busy lately, I put in almost 50 hours at work these last few weeks, so I am sorry for the confusion.

Hmm. A good demonstration of the power of name recognition. I still think the rule breaking category is a bit more fickle than the other categories, since I've never done anything like post porn to the forum, and that's definitely a "bigger rule" than going off topic. But I appreciate the love and I'll keep fighting the good fight. :love:

I would like to thank Talad, Rizin, Oomi, Vengeance, Weltall and the whole dev team, baby jesus (for just being soooo cute), my worshipers (who stole this election for me), the test team, all prospects, gms, the wonderful fans who helped make all of this possible, and finally, the SNORKS, without whom I would never have won the most funny category.

Congratulations Xillix to your victory. To think a couple of years ago you were almost roasted by the player base for trying to play the Octarch. Now your the most hated and loved! Weird ass community. :/ BTW glad you stayed with in the community. :thumbup:

Us players went along with it by taking in-character sides either for or against the claim. It was the GMs who reacted against it, although I wouldn't call it a "roasting".

:D Everyone remembers situations like this in different ways. You must have seen this situation from a different perspective than me.
I remember it was the player base who protested enough about what Xillix was doing to get the Gm's involved. Trust me. I know Xillix was getting a hard time from the player base because some people in my guild where part of the people who did not agree with him and what he was doing. Ask him some time, he might tell you how many came up against him.
:detective: Doesn't matter who did what anyway, we have a damn good RPer added to the PlaneShift team and his experience will be used to better the game as it moves onward. That's all that matters.

Now that I see his picture I completely understand the XilliX love, but I was actually curious who would win the dozen or so that XilliX ended up with.

Xillix the character was female, although the player was male. So when speaking of IC reactions to Xillix, one uses the feminine.

>o) Miscommunication would be the culprit here then. You were referring to "her" in character and I was referring to "him" out of character. I wasn't focused on the IC but the OOC when making my post. It was just as much of a mess IC as it was OOC.

You see, I have stated earlier in the thread that this was in fact totally rigged . . . If you look around I explicitly encouraged all manner of bad conduct in my campaign to dominate these awards.
That notwithstanding nothing is contradictory about marq's list.
Think about the biographies of many people worth making them on . . .

I've edited this post a few times, looking for the right way to word my thoughts. I think there are people who enjoy, for one reason another, playful meanness. Among people with a taste for such affairs, playful meanness is something that would make one well liked, as opposed to being a barrier to popularity.

Nah, I think Xillix just knows you only have to be nice to people on the way up, if you're planning on coming back down. ;) Also, I heard a rumor (that I started... right now) that Xillix was promising glow in the dark groffels for whomever votes for him in all categories. It's a proven fact that glow-in-the-dark animals increase a persons popularity by 300%.
(Anyone else think it's sad that we have to write that we're just joking around in a thread that's supposed to be goofy and fun in the first place?)

It should not be that way now that the developers are trying so hard to please the people who play this game. You have no idea how good you got it until it is gone. Get it together people!!

Yup. Still, there's a certain kind of player who looks for community and social interaction. When the game appeals to that brand of player, they stick around.

The Community Awards were better when the community was smaller. Now that's it's such a large community it's no longer "who is the best..." but "who is the best... in the largest group". And these things are just less smiled upon by the older players who look at them as a teenage popularity contest :P
At least, the super cool older players 8)
Either way, it got some laughs, it's a success.
