Title: The Song of Ice on Fire
Post by: sashia_mennar on July 29, 2010, 06:58:29 pm
RR's Longform & Co
proudly presents:

The SONg of ICE on FIRE,
      or
Hangatyr Gets Angry

"Expect the unexpected!"
JP

Scene 1. Hydlaa, Kada-El tavern.
(played Jul 13, 2010, said location)

Full cast in order of appearance

Hangatyr, a middle-aged dwarf, crafter for the Way of the Hammer and owner of the legendary Icy-Fire magical axe. You know him.
Eelin Everheart, a tall platemail-clad diabolo with rugged, less-than-handsome face and distinguished manners, that day still Councillor to the House of Trayus.
Shiam Flamebeard, a young Stonebreaker, tired, drunk and a bit depressed... but about to meet a very good friend very soon.
Eurac Hog, an elderly dwarf with a prominent belly, the well-known Host of the House of Games.
Esorono Osuiger, a young klyros hunter from the Klyros Junction with very unusual wings.
Perlan Cernun, a young-looking dermorian man, Grandmaster to the Masters of Move.
Sulaika Letaza, a charming, mild-spoken dermorian woman, Council Member for the Enlightened Path.
Zarre, an ylian woman, only stopped in for some water that day and ran into some old friends, which delayed her leaving immediately.
Kirna Aestle, a very young and childish-looking nolthrir girl, just about to get a bit more than she ever wanted.
The Villain, little known about him (or her? or kra?). You don't know... the Villain.
Leras Hammerslagen, a kind-natured cider-loving dwarf.
Chessire Eylis of the House of Trayus, a young nolthrir girl with a somewhat fearsome look and two crossed longswords on her back.
Sacho Awotoha, a mild-mannered menki of the Corps Virtuoso, savvy about healing.
Jesalor Dinere, a rather misterious character, very drunk and supposedly a klyros.

The Azure sun isn't dim yet, but Kada-El's tavern is already full of people. This cycle's Treman turned out to be exceptionally hot, so even those not much into booze, rush to Kada's to have a drink of water or see some friends where the hot azure rays cannot reach.

Inside, everything looks exactly as always. Somebody just broke a liquor mug, and the heavy wine odor wafts around the bar. Some other body is about to slide down on the floor from the chair it still occupies after having too many drinks; not much time will pass before one of the barmaids drags that body out, to lie somewhere in the shade and breathe fresh air. Thus quickening the recovery process.

From upstairs, where Jomed's sacred domain is located, the delicious odor of fresh fish being cooked with exquisite spices drifts down majestically, getting mixed with various kinds of smoke and vapor on its way: herbs in the customers' pipes, logs in the fireplace, candles on the tables, too much people talking and breathing in too small a space.

Allelia is busy serving wine, water and famous Kada-El's ale. It seems like water is in the highest demand this evening, so maybe what's stored won't be enough.

No one knows what's going to happen in less than an hour from now. No one expects the unexpected.

Hangatyr, the all-Dome famous Hydlaa smith, is relaxing in Kada's today, after another tiresome mining day.

Hangatyr leans his huge battle axe against the counter and orders a few pints which he tosses back with a remarkable speed .. "thats what me needed after t' work at t' anvil, ne .. Allelia, more beer here!" -- and waves with the empy tankard at Allelia, he turns around and gives the gathering a measuring look, reaches around and picks up the tankard of ale Allelia had placed on the counter behind him.

>Hangatyr salutes Eelin Everheart with respect.

>Eelin Everheart greets everyone.
>Eelin Everheart greets Hangatyr.

Shiam scratches his beard and gets the rhythm of a dance, and as he is a bit tipsy, he starts dancing a bit

Eelin says: Sir Hangatyr!

>Shiam Flamebeard begins to dance.

Eelin says: It's been a long time, friend. How have you been?

Eurac slurps his ale

Eelin dips his head respectfully

Hangatyr bows "Councillor .. indeed quite some time past since, and thanks for askin' me is doing well"
Eelin smiles "You certainly look well! Must be all that ale." he chuckles

Behind the tavern, where the empty barrels are stacked, something happens. Two figures emerge from the hole in the ground. One, slim and fragile-looking; another, tall and draped top to toe in a bright blood-red cloak with heavy hood lowered so as to cover the face completely. The smaller figure climbs up and takes a seat on the top barrel. It's a very young nolthrir girl; from the way her fingers twitch, one might say the child is either nervous or scared. But there's no one to see that yet, the tavern wall hiding the unusual pair from the guards and also from anyone that happens to be on the small plaza in front of Kada's. People inside keep drinking, smoking, eating and talking.

Eelin says: Can I buy you one?
Esorono says: Hi Eelin.
Eelin says: Hi Esorono

>Eelin Everheart greets Esorono Osuiger.

Hangatyr laughs "Ah ne .. thanks but be my guest please"
Eelin says: I surely will

Hangatyr hands over a mug "take this one, fresh from the keg"
Eelin says: Thank you!
Eelin says: Long days at the anvil still?
Eelin says: Oh
Eelin says: Is that an axe?
Eelin says: Looks like a work of perfection

Perlan says: what did you say again, you wanted to go somewhere quiet?
Sulaika nods to Perlan, "Perhaps that's better."

Shiam looks around him and pays attention to that no'one looks, then nods a bit in Eelin's direction, then attempts to make the grass on his boots to grow down the wooden planks, but as his dark nature corrupts it from within, it falls to the ground, dead... and black. He quietly sighs

Hangatyr nods "Aye .. still trying to improve my humble skills .. ohh yes it's my axe"

Icy-Fire, still leaned against the counter, silently gleams with arcane magic. It's as though the weapon can hear the creator's words and feels proud of itself.

Eelin says: It's fantastic!
Hangatyr says: "Thank you, it took a long time until finally done"
Eelin says: That looks like your finest work!

Sulaika says: Yes sure
Sulaika says: Where we go actually?
Perlan says: ladies first
Perlan says: you're the leader
Perlan says: sires, g'day

Hangatyr says: How is Lord Vilthis doing, if I may ask?
Eelin says: I haven't seen him in town lately. I think he's out doing some research.

Shiam pays attention to Eelin's and Hangatyr's conversation

>Eelin Everheart greets Shiam Flamebeard.

Hangatyr looks proudly at his axe and nods "Ohh research? Studying the Laws again?"
Eelin says: Hello friend

>Shiam Flamebeard makes a bow.

Eelin says: Eelin Everheart
Shiam says: Hello, i'm Shiam, Shiam Flamebeard
Eurac says: Excuse me but talking of axes?

>Hangatyr makes a bow to Zarre.
>Eurac Hog greets Zarre.

Eelin bows "A pleasure"
Hangatyr says: Lady Zarre, what a pleasure of seeing you again

>Zarre greets Eurac Hog.

Perlan shouts: my love!

Zarre cannot help but smile "Hangatyr..."

Eelin smiles, taking a long swallow from the mug.

Zarre says: It's been too long since our paths have crossed.

Kirna nods to the Villain, takes the dagger our of her sack and tries to scratch her slender thigh with it. Her hands shake, her face is pale. After a couple of tries more she turns to the Villain "By Talad, I can't. You do that! Quick!"

Zarre waves to Eurac

Kirna passes the dagger to the Villain, extends her leg and shuts her eyes tight.

The Villain reaches for the dagger; he grins widely, plunging the dagger deeply into the elf's leg.

Hangatyr says: yes indeed
Eurac says: Nice to see you again Zarre
Zarre says: And you as well my friend.

The Villain grins at his work, and races off

Kirna gasps

People in the tavern keep drinking and talking, unaware of what is happening behind the very wall of Kada's this very moment. Nobody can see the tall red-cloaked figure move fast but confident, diving back into the sewers after the foul deed is done.

>Eelin Everheart greets Eurac Hog.

Kirna shouts: Aaaaaaaa!

>Eurac Hog greets Eelin Everheart.

Kirna looks at the blood gushing from the deep wound on her leg

Kirna shouts: I DON'T want to DIE!

Hangatyr says: "Ahh Lady ... what's that shouting about?"
Kirna shouts: Heeeeelp!

Hangatyr looks up and around

Kirna loses blood quickly, her face turning pale
Eelin looks in the direction of the screaming

Hangatyr says: from the back side

Hangatyr and Eelin Everheart, accompanied by some other customers, rush outside, eager to help a child. A small crowd starts gathering around Kirna, covering the crime scene from Jefecra and Rabartus again. It's not unusual to hear some cries coming from the tavern, as drunken brawls and even violent fights are kind of a trademark thing for the place.

Kirna cries

Kirna says: I am...
Kirna says: I am too young to Die!

Hangatyr says: ma'am what's going on here?
Eurac says: Seems I will never get my axes tonight.

Kirna points at the dagger sticking out of her thigh.

Eelin says: What happened, M'Lady?
Hangatyr says: who's going to die?
Zarre whispers to Eurac "Sounds like she is in pain. What goes on here?"

Kirna looks like she's ready to pass out any second now

Kirna says: The dag...
Perlan shouts: i hear thy call!
Hangatyr says: what dagger?

Eelin casts some crystal energy towards Kirna

Kirna shouts: IT HURTS!

Someone goes to Jefecra at last, to inform him about the happenings. Upon learning about the victim already being treated and the wound being not lethal, Lieutenant takes out a piece of parchment and a pen, and starts writing down more details for further investigation... using Rabartus' platemail back as a makeshift table. Thus, none of the two guards can see a tall figure, draped top to toe in a heavy cloak of a somewhat darkish, dried-blood color, with a hood lowered so as to cover the face completely, appearing from another side of the tavern. The figure rushes in, snatches up Icy-Fire, grinning under the hood, and dashes out, turning to its left right after exiting the tavern. Even Allelia, who just finished filling yet another mug with fragrant ale for yet another thirsty patron, has no time to fully realize what is... no, what was going on a split second ago.

Hangatyr says: come on down ma'am
Kirna says: Ahhh...

Eelin checks her pulse
Kirna screams out in pain, the blood still rushing down her leg, on the barrels, down to the ground.

Kirna says: The dag...ger
Hangatyr looks at Eelin questioning ".. and?"
Eelin says: Well, that should have stopped the bleeding

Kirna passes out

Perlan says: sires!!!!

>Zarre greets Perlan Cernun.

Kirna lies on the ground, unconscious
Hangatyr kneels down

Zarre smiles "Only sires?"

>Leras Hammerslagen takes a seat.

Perlan says: hast thou heared a cry for help?
Leras says: at the back of the tavern.

Eelin pulls the dagger from Kirna's leg

Hangatyr says: let me see ma'am

Zarre nods and points outside "The cry came from there."

Leras says: it was a lass i think.
Perlan says: i must look at it at once

Sulaika looks at Eelin and Kirna
>Perlan Cernun makes a bow.

Eurac says: Hmm! Hangy's axe seems to have gone

>Sulaika Letaza greets Hangatyr.

Perlan says: i heared thy cry!
Zarre says: I had no idea whose axe that was

Shiam's head starts banging with all the voices and impressions of the day, he puts the cup on the table and starts walking out

Perlan says: i arrived as soon as possible, areth thou alright?
Eelin says: It's an old dagger, looks like old bloodstains... and the letter "S" branded under a bamboo leaf

Leras unstrings a mug and a flask from his belt and fills the mug with a clear liquid

Eelin says: Is she still bleeding?
Eurac says: Did you see who took it?

Leras takes a gulp from the mug and then puts it down on the floor.
Eurac slurps his ale

Sulaika says: Can we help maybe?
Zarre says: Only out of the corner of my eye.

Shiam looks back at Eurac

Hangatyr says: -- and extends carefully the leg of the Noltrir -- "Ohh some serious wound, but .." -- Hangatyr makes a gesture with his hands casting a healing spell

Eelin studies the dagger "And a small blue crystal"
Perlan says: i track people, can i er, help? hehe
Eelin says: Let's get her inside

Shiam turns around and says "Some young lad ran in, took it, and ran out... i can't say who it was, i'm not from these parts...

Hangatyr says: Yes, Councillor Eelin

Eelin bends over the Nolthrir, picking her up in his arms

The diabolo man carries the wounded elf inside and upstairs in one of the rooms, accompanied by Hangatyr and several bystanders; some others return to the bar for more drinking and talking; someone leaves, someone walks over to the guards to add new vivid details of the crime to Jefecra's fast growing record.

Eurac slurps his ale
Perlan kisses Sulaika

Leras says: hmm...
Leras says: i know that lass!
Sulaika kisses Perlan back, "How about some place in winch?"
Perlan says: is this our business, or not?

Eelin lays Kirna carefully on the bed

Leras says: just remembered...
Sulaika says: I dont know, Perlan
Eurac says: I am not sure I understand what is going on at all tonight?

Zarre whispers to Eurac "I have a feeling she is in good hands...
Zarre says: All I know is that I saw blood on that woman.
Perlan says: sires, ladies!

to be continued...

This is a story all about how
Some ice got melted, it went all "ow"
So I wanna take a minute just sit right there,
And I'll tell you how ice can't stand up to a flare.

There, this one was actually a song - stop using misleading topic names, thx.

Not to mention "The Song of Ice and Fire" is the name of a book series by George R. R Martin.

This is so cool! Great to see so many people involved in the rp, and the set up for the 'continuing' saga.

I'm also enormously grateful to Sashia and two 'at this moment shall remain nameless' co-creators, for taking the small idea, turning it into a big idea and running with it. This rp is still going on so look around you and listen- you can be involved in the surprises and challenges to come. This is player created, player conceived, player run rp.Bravo!!

Hangatyr- sorry about your axe, man...
Kima- sorry about your leg, kiddo...
Allelia- sorry about the broken mugs, lady A.

otm and irishman- get ingame or get a life...  :woot:
Perlan and Suliaka- in the winch? Really? Really? (to quote someone else)  ::|

Stay tuned in- unbeknownst to me I happened into a rp associated with this plot last night, before I even knew what this plot was. Great to read the back story!

This is player created, player conceived, player run rp.

The word "roleplay" has gone too far. I want to give some serious and honest critique by saying there should never EVER be a "cast". JP said "expect the unexpected" so what about those characters not in this "cast"? Where does that leave them? How are they treated as part of the RP if they aren't part of the plan? Characters should always do what they would do, and a group of players should never stuff them into one place at a time because of plotted RP. That doesn't make sense. Your character goes where he/she/kra wants to go, not where you (the player) wants him/her/kra to go.

I don't get the impression this is all staged. But I wonder why people see the need to make PS darker? Aren't there enough fantasy worlds set in dark times? Why does almost every RP that gets reported seem to involve people getting hurt? Does the community have no more use for happy times? Are their lives so happy that they need to seek out sad or hurtful RP in game to have different experiences? ::| Otherwise it looks like perfectly reasonable RP.

But I will say this.... Roled, all RP should be player created, player conceived, player run rp. That's the point of a RP game and not just your average RPG. ;) RPing on the roleplaying server shouldn't be a marvel, it should be a given. ;D

The criminal element in Hydlaa is often times the type you find in Gotham City or Metropolis... no every city does not have that. :P It's not them being bad at being unseen, those that get caught get caught because they weren't trying to be unseen. ;)

Geoni- thanks for that thoughtful rebuttal and points.
As I said, I was not part of creating the inciting actions of this particular plot since other players took it and ran. Again I say yeah to them. But I think I might speak to two points you raised.

First, as in the engagement plot, and the crystal plot, and the upcoming not yet happening plot, there is indeed a small group of players who have been/  are in on the planning for the inciting incidents. We are using that term specifically to differentiate between a scripted, outcome predetermined 'plot', and an incident that does indeed kick off action but does not dictate those actions on the part of any.. I emphasize ANY.. players who's characters happen to be at the scene and choose to involve themselves. I assure you, none of us who started the action of the engagement plot had ANY idea that what happened would happen, it just did, as characters each 'did what they would do." They did indeed!

The events that unfolded were unexpected, as I suspected they might be...

I feel fairly sure that when Sashia said 'cast' she meant those who were there, and who participated. Except for those who kicked the action, the characters who were there weren't part of a plan, they were simply there. That was certainly true of the crystal and the engagement plots. In this case 'cast' I feel sure refers to the after -the -fact list of participants.

Second, as has been emphasized in calls, posts, in game invitations, these plots are open to anyone who is there. Where does that leave characters? Free as always to participate. Free to risk playing. Free to become involved, immersed, or to leave if it wasn't to their taste, or their rl time, or whatever.  The intention in trying to invite people to participate has been and continues to be to open rps to folks who don't know each other, who don't usually or often rp with each other, who are new, or who are shy but trying. Characters can happen onto the action, characters can overhear others speaking of occurrences. Characters can continue with their own rps or crafting or mining , can take initiative and create their own stories, or not. Whatever.

Simply trying to rev things up instead of complaining. It's an experiment. If it fails... well it fails. If not, then good for everyone who made their own game out of the few little cards thrown on this summer's table.

There are plenty of seats at the metaphoric table. And there are many metaphoric roads to rp Buddha. Hope to see you on the road.

I know that it is difficult to have spontaneous RP with the low player count that there is on the server these days, and I admire that you wanted to rev things up on the RP server instead of complaining here, but I think that the mostly new people in the RP scene should not only have examples of plotted RP, or initiated RP for a better word choice, but also know not to get carried away with it.

What do I mean by getting carried away? They create minor alts for minor characters. Many of these minor characters get killed, or just suddenly disappear after the RP situation has finished, I've seen it countless times.

Another thing is that people see a plot go on, or hear about something happening, such as somebody getting...kidnapped...or murdered, and they want to do that themselves. It goes to what Illysia said about every RP that goes on somebody has to get hurt. Is this because players want to add something exciting into the RP and it just becomes a trend among RPers.

One of the problems with players pre-planning RP is that they cling onto their goal and when something gets in their way they want to force them out of the way. It has happened to me various times when I'm in a characters way and they /tell me that they planned to do what they are doing, and I /tell them that they shouldn't be surprised when the unexpected happens and their plans turn around on them, but no, they godmod me. It's happened to me three times.

Anyways I'm just getting carried away myself with the complaining of this post, and I'm not at all blaming it on you Roled. It's just that when you set up a initiated RP you need to be careful that things don't get too out of hand. I think you did a fine job on the engagement initiative, though ever since the kidnapping happened during that plot, it has become a trend, and this trend got out of hand. Honestly I realize just as I post this that this isn't the place to complain about such things, and I was just confused by the whole "cast" thing, and it left me thinking that this entire RP was scripted like a play.

I'm just that hysteric clamorer that shouts warnings about pre-planned RP. I just hope that the newer players that have been getting carried away see how getting "carried away" with their initiatives can lead them to godmodding somebody. I understand that with such a low player count, there has to be some level of preplanning since there is hardly any chance of just spontaneously having a character run into situations anymore, but with this initiated RP I just wanted to emphasize "expect the unexpected".

P.S. Sorry for my complaining and it coming up on this thread, it really isn't the place for me to do that.  :sweatdrop: I hope that this made sense, it's late.

You're right, there's a lot of grandiosity to how criminal-characters in Planeshift behave. It's also that people use OOC information about the criminals in-character and nobody remains secret, so why not make everything bang?

SORRY folks, can't read that much OOC, lol! So please be happy with my short answers for a while... or do not be, it's freeform dammit!

Roled, stop trying to explain IC things to OOC people. Please, Boss, we need you ingame. Really.

Geoni, yes, it's full IC, and the only lines added or seriously transformed are all swamp-green, all the rest is real RP.
And, just fyi, from that 'cast' I wrote as a teaser, only 4 "actors" were planned. Everyone else just joined on the spot, made me say dozens of 'gaab's back then, and... contributed -greatly- to the story, lol. So YAY to all folks who just happened to be there and open for RP  \\o//
And even me, I still don't have the slightest idea about who that Jesalor was, heh heh!

Kull, thanks a lot, I'm glad you do some book-reading in your spare time, it's a pleasant surprise. Now you just buy some corn, relax and wait... or no, expect... or no, I'm not supposed to give out spoilers, am I?  ::)

Illysia, I'm darn sorry, but a big NO, we won't have that convo versus action fight again. (I love you anyways! :) ) And, on a sidenote, please stop making such a big fuss about a minor injury, people at times manage to do worse with their kitchen knives while cooking a dinner. We have people mutilated, killed, tortured every [blessed] Yliakum day. Go talk to -their- players and plot authors, please. Maybe they will listen to you, mend their ways and start cooking pies. We Need More Pies!

Xoel, you still have no idea, heh heh.

Anyone else? Sorry, preparing the next post. I'll be back laterz. Lots Of Love, everyone!

*facepalm*

That's my whole point... What's the word Geoni uses so much... Trite? Come on, RP is bigger than "how's your mother?" and "I got stabbed"... That's been my whole point!   Yes this is RP but this is like the advertisement for a good book... it only scratches the surface. You all can do better than this. :( It's about expanding your imagination not wearing out the same dead horse theme. -_- RP is soo much bigger than "conversation" versus "action" especially considering that most current RPers have a very limited view of both.

Thank you LigH you have just summarized the problem... everybody is so afraid of any criticism, like the world ends because of it. I shutter to think how easily people would have fallen apart in the past considering the critique was much harsher then. Shame though as anybody that creates but never gets criticism will suffer in their art. Criticism is not a problem, it's criticism just for the sake of tearing someone down or to make them feel bad that is the problem... But no worries, my time of trying to help people is past. I give up, do what you all want. I'm not apart of the flow of things anymore.

And as a side note, tempted to solve your problems with your sword... *shakes her head* I am disappointed...
Title: Re: The Song of Ice on Fire
Post by: LigH on July 30, 2010, 10:38:19 pm
No no, you really misunderstood...

It was not my point to tear someone down. It was just an expression that I don't really understand the problem from my point of view: I see so much roleplaying all around, I hardly can take part in them all. And I don't mind it being simple, I don't mind it being planned and appointed ... he, I am just happy that there is any.

Also I don't care much about if my style of roleplaying is good or bad, simple or complicated ... as long as I can be a valuable part of something.

And especially please don't take my reply as final reason to disappear... Really, why do you think I am still playing? - For my friends who stay. But less and less stay with me, more and more keep leaving for reasons I don't understand. You make me staying for Lolitra alone if you are leaving too.

I am sorry that I am no native english speaker.

I am sorry that I don't like reading lengthy explanations.

I prefer to meet friends. And that's just the part which gets harder each day: Everyone finds another reason to leave. Staying with friends seems to have such a low value.

Everyone should expect criticism and they should expect criticism on their criticism.  However, constructive and helpful criticism is the only way a benefit will come from it and the next roleplay will be better, and the next, and so on.

I like the way this is set up, summarized and executed so far.  Not ignoring the NPCs is always nice to see, and the distraction is pretty believable that an item could be stolen from Kada's and they could possibly get past the guards without being noticed.  Using Alts is perfectly fine as the population of Hydlaa is not just the 15-20 players that happen to be in the city, but hundreds of citizens going about their business along with the NPCs that should be treated as alive.  You just have to use your imagination and try to keep a realistic view of how a city like Hydlaa would look and feel like.

The title can always be worked on and usually authors come up with that last anyway.  I had no idea about any prior references, but it I'm thinking it is a play on how Hangatyr is usually cool and collected and now someone has just ticked him off.  Not sure where the Song part comes in, but maybe it will come into play down the road.  If not, then when it is all said and done, maybe another title will come around.

Nice job, Sashia.  Good luck with the progress of it.

Sorry to jump that offtopic train, but are you serious now to target Illysia for that elitism nonsense? LigH, one should be allowed to assume you are really long enough with PS now to know that Illysia is anything but unable to debate things on a level beyond black and white. Especially her two last posts, not even long time ago things like that did not even have to be spoken out, it was an obvious thing of common consciousness.
You, LigH, as one considered to be an oldbie, should have learned over time and not have forgotten standards but willed to transport advancements to newcomers instead of completely stalling - what a disappointment. Will it be you now to show newbies exciting and intruiging roleplays? Your (apparent) way at least you can cope with the statements of the next generation: "Hey, I just used /me in an RP, am I great now or what?!".

And as a side note, tempted to solve your problems with your sword... *shakes her head* I am disappointed...

That makes two of us, Illysia.

Your heart seems to be in the right place yet your sanctimonious comments/threads/posts are starting to make my skin crawl.

I don't really want to be seen as an elitist, but it isn't right to be called one when you just care about a game and where it is heading. It was the same for Illysia and she gets called sanctimonious? Well your skin can crawl right off. Nova: you just made a personal attack, I could do the same but I have realized over doing the same thing that there is a thing called respecting somebodies thread.  I tried my best to point out a few things and give a little criticism about plotted and initiated RP because I was confused about what was meant as "cast" and look what happened to this thread.

Everybody that isn't adding on to the story of the RP, giving constructive criticism, feedback on the RP, or perhaps screenshots and whatnot: Shut up and bring your flame-war to the threads that you have already battled on. Heck, I made a thread dedicated to that very thing but never got used? Why? Because this forum either needs to reform their etiquette, or the moderation needs to be stronger. I made the mistake of bringing complaints into the wrong place and I am going to stop here. We can fight on general discussion and the complaint department if need be, but that won't change anything.

@ Phage: Usual mistake of taking sarcasm serious. I must have used too few smilies... I just exaggerated the thought: "If the best keep leaving, so what are those who stay? Am I a bad roleplayer just because I still play PlaneShift and did not leave yet?" - I don't think so. I just played with it.

As long as I have friends to play with, I won't leave. Therefore I'll try to make new friends every day I play.

Scene 1, part II. Hydlaa, Kada-El
(played Jul 13, 2010, said location)

Eelin examines the woman carefully, making sure the bleeding is controlled.

Hangatyr says: Eelin do you take care of her, whilst me will go downstairs?
Eelin says: Of course
Eelin says: Thank you, Hangatyr
Perlan says: anyone saw what happened?
Leras says: afraid not, i came here just now.
Zarre looks past Eurac "Greetings Perlan. What brings you here this evening?"

Kirna lies on the bed, morbidly pale and hardly breathing at all. Her legs and the hem of her scarse dress are covered with blood.

Hangatyr nods and turns leaving the room
Leras ponders

Perlan says: i look for the one responsible, Zarre, lady
Leras says: though i did see one of them cat-men run down the stairs when i were goin here

Eelin stretches out Kirna's leg under his hands

Zarre says: Aha... responsible for the blood I saw on the lady?
Perlan nods: "aye"
Hangatyr looks around searching "Where .. is .. my .. axe?"
Zarre looks around a bit on the nervous side. "Was it an attempted murder?"
Hangatyr shouts: "Damm who took my axe?"

Eelin pulls some cloth bandages from his sack, carefully wrapping the girl's wound.

Hangatyr shouts: "I don't care about an attempted murder, I care about my axe .. so who took it?"

Kirna opens her eyes, sees Eelin's face above her, trembles, closes her eyes again.

Hangatyr says: Eurac did you see anyone taking it?

Eelin ties off the bandages, noticing her start to come to. He places a hand over hers "Relax now, Missy. You'll be alright"

Perlan says: Hangatyr, a lady is hurt here, can you think of nothing but an axe?
Hangatyr opens his mouth "Perlan ... "
Hangatyr says: Lady Zarre how about you? Did you noticed any?
Zarre turns toward Hangatyr "I only caught some movement out of the corner of my eye... so sorry."
Perlan says: Hangatyr, who cares, have one of my axes

Eelin comforts the Nolthrir girl, his hands rubbing her arm "Are you awake, Missy?"

Kirna whispers: the ... man ...

Kirna starts trembling

Chessire says: Hello Sacho...
Sacho looks over at Chessire with a warm smile. "Good evening."
Chessire says: Give me a second i think i heard Eelin's voice

Eelin says: You saw the man who did this to you?

Kirna is very pale because of the loss of blood
Kirna opens her eyes
Kirna sees Eelin
Eelin casts a crystal energy infusion towards the Nolthrir
Kirna gasps

Eelin smiles "That should help. Feeling any better?"
Kirna says: my ... leg
Eelin says: Yes, you were stabbed

Kirna cries

Kirna says: I don't want to Die!
Eelin says: I wrapped it for you
Chessire says: Eelin...
Kirna says: I want to become a Mage!
Eelin looks curiously "You're not going to die, Missy"

Kirna trembles

Eelin turns "Oh, Hi Chessire"
Eelin says: This young woman was stabbed in the leg.

Kirna whispers: that ... that awful ... Man

Perlan says: who did this?
Chessire says: Good grief...

Kirna says: he ... he promised

Eelin says: Is everything alright, Chessire?

Kirna says: he said ... he would ... give me Tria!

Chessire says: Yes everything fine...
Eelin looks back to Kirna "Who promised?"

Perlan says: i shall feast on his dried corpse, who did this?

Kirna says: that ... that man ...

Kirna tries to shake her head, but is too weak to do that yet

Eelin nods to Perlan "I don't know yet"

Kirna says: he was ... he wore ... a cloak
Kirna squeaks: he said I will get my Tria! If I scream!

Eelin says: Tria?
Eelin pauses a heartbeat "What race was he? Could you tell?"
Perlan says: he shall die, once i meet him, hehe

Kirna says: ...tall ... cloak ...

Chessire says: He asked you to scream?
Eelin says: He hired you to scream?
Kirna cannot see Chessire, so she simply answers the question: Yes!
Chessire sighs
Kirna closes her eyes for a moment, then opens them again: a full bag of Tria! for my training ...
Chessire says: What are they up to again?
Kirna says: he ...
Kirna says: he said he would ... scratch ... my leg
Kirna says: but ...
Eelin says: The man who hired you to scream is the man that stabbed you with the dagger?

Kirna starts crying again, tears rolling down her pale face

Chessire says: Don't worry, this doesn't look too serious... it's just a wound on the leg.

Chessire caresses softly the child's hair

Perlan says: that is just panzy words, lady, scratching your legs
Eelin says: Did you see anyone, Perlan?

Kirna relaxes somewhat under Chessire's tender touch

Perlan says: you're talking to someone who er, gets rid of people
Kirna says: I ... I don't want to ... I never died ... before.

Eelin nods
Sacho lighty knocks on the doorframe.

Perlan says: i need a description, i'll make your problem go away, so to say
Chessire says: Ah Sacho! Just the man we need... Come in!

Kirna says: I ... I thought it was a ... joke

Eelin says: Can you provide a description of the man, Missy?

Kirna says: his face ...
Kirna says: i had no chance to ... see it
Kirna says: i only wanted ... my Tria!

Hangatyr says: Eelin may I have your word
Eelin turns to Hangatyr "Of course, friend"
Hangatyr says: someone took my axe, Icy-Fire, as we were outside helping the lass

Perlan whispers: i need a description, no one needs to know

Kirna is still very pale

Chessire says: This girl has a wound on the leg Sacho...
Sacho quietly enters. "So I have overheard, Chessire." He looks over at the child.

Jesalor is drunk

Perlan says: lady

Eelin says: Your most magnificent work... is gone?
Eelin says: "Are you sure?" he quizzes Hangatyr.
Hangatyr nods full of pain and growls "Yes .. "

Jesalor says: you know *hiccup* i have a really nice house

Chessire says: We are quite too many in here... Why don't we let Sacho see her wound and talk outside?
Eelin nods

Jesalor says: *hiccup* and i should be proud

Perlan looks Kirna directly into the eye: "i can make your troubles go away" whispers Perlan

Eelin says: Good idea, Chessire

Kirna closes her eyes and says nothing more. The child seems to be asleep. Her breathing is still very shallow, but stable.
Jesalor pukes on the ground
Shiam stands in the doorway, knocking the wall

Hangatyr looks at Kirna "Lass we'll have a talk for sure, that's a promise"
Hangatyr says: But please what was that about the dagger you said?
Eelin says: The dagger? I have it here"

Eelin pulls the dagger from his sack and shows it to Hangatyr

Chessire says: Hello sir Shiam
Shiam says: Hi Chessire

Jesalor ducks his head in a bucket of water

Jesalor says: much better

Shiam says: is Hangatyr in there with you?
Perlan whispers: "say it is business or nay, but i will do this one for free"

Jesalor says: hello

Eelin sets the dagger on the table

Hangatyr looks at the dagger "hmm old and rusty .. but what's marked there at the grip?"
Eelin says: The letter "S"
Eelin says: And a blue crystal, and a bamboo leaf
Eelin says: Looks rather unique

Sacho walks over to the bed and checks the bandages. He then removes a small bottle from his haversack and holds it in his hand.

Perlan whispers: "lady, i will help you for free, just give me a description"

Chessire says: It certainly seems to be enchanted
Hangatyr nods "Aye it is, but me never came along such a branding, ne"

Jesalor says: its a tavern party

Sulaika gazes at the people around, "Any description of who did that to the girl? Or do they need any other help?"
Eelin says: Well, it might be able to lead us to the thug who did this
Perlan says: i need a description miss, i can only help in ways of justice, not of healing

Sacho pours a bit of the liquid on the bandages covering Kirna's leg.

Hangatyr nods again "aye and I'll make sure that the guards become aware of it, ne"
Eelin says: Nobody saw anyone take your axe, Hangatyr?

Jesalor says: there is death in that room

Shiam coughs

Chessire says: It's a simple injury... who is that Klyros?
Shiam says: i saw something, i was a bit groggy, so not sure what, but it sure stole your axe Hangatyr
Hangatyr says: no, none of those who had been there

Jesalor says: Dakkru is in this realm tonight

Sacho looks over at Perlan. "If you can only help with 'justice'. Then leave and give her some time to heal."

Jesalor says: and death is on the air

Perlan says: sire, i deal in justice
Perlan says: i let other ones deal in healing, we can't all be healers, right?

Hangatyr says: did you noticed anything Shiam .. please tell me, anything might help and lead us

Chessire pushes Jesalor outside "Do us a favor and go say hi to Dakkru!"

Shiam says: Aye, i sure saw something, not sure what, but it was a shadowy figure, speedy, i know it was a young lad, no'one else could have those reflexes

Sacho looks back at the young child and checks her vitals.

Shiam says: He simply ran into the bar, took the axe, and ran out, he kinda.. whispered something, but i couldnt hear what.. darn ale
Hangatyr says: did you noticed his race?
Shiam says: i wasnt really paying attention to that, i had an headache of all the sounds, and i was a bit tipsy of the ale
Hangatyr says: "Aww .. damm"
Eelin holds the dagger and studies it closely "Wait a minute! This looks quite like the daggers Sashia made for Teshia!"

Sacho then casts a small spell on the child's leg as he finishes.

Eelin says: Yes, there was an "S" on each of them.
Eelin grabs the dagger and stuffs it in his sack "Perhaps we should let this young woman sleep"

Eelin motions to the door
>Eelin Everheart greets Sulaika Letaza.

Perlan says: sires, i am sure you take care of the lady

>Sulaika Letaza greets Eelin Everheart.
>Perlan Cernun makes a bow.

Hangatyr says: lets go down, too crowded in here

Sacho turns and begins trying to herd the group out of the room. "Come on lets give her some place."

Chessire says: I will stay for a bit if you don't mind... i have to speak with Sacho...

Eelin says: Sir Hangatyr
Hangatyr says: Yes Councillor?
Eelin says: We must go see Sashia. I recognize the dagger as one similar to the ones she gave Teshia as a wedding gift.
Hangatyr says: hmm .. please do so and I'll set up a head-hunters fee meanwhile

Perlan says: i must depart, i have company waiting
Perlan says: sire

>Perlan Cernun makes a bow.

Esorono says: Thought I heard voices here.
Sacho nods. "Where would you like to speak, Chessire?"
Esorono says: What happened?

Chessire looks over the asleep girl
Kirna sighs in her sleep, but doesn't wake up

Chessire says: Lets talk just outside so you can be close to her... when there'll be less crowd
Perlan says: m'lady

Sulaika calls her rivnak

Chessire picks up her mug and takes a good sip

Eelin nods "Alright Hangatyr. Perhaps this same man has taken your axe"
Eelin says: I'll go find her
Perlan says: we shall move

>Eelin Everheart makes a bow to Hangatyr.

Hangatyr says: it seems to me, yes

Sacho smiles at Chessire's glance. "I believe she will be alright."
Chessire says: If you say so...

Chessire brings her voice down to a whisper and leans to Sacho

Shiam says: Hangatyr
Sacho is very surprised. "That is not good."
Hangatyr says: Aye?

Chessire says: Not only this... after that Zalya appeared too...

Chessire lowers her voice again

Shiam says: i.. i need to talk to you about something
Hangatyr says: speak up brodr
Shiam says: you've got to know me and all now so... i guess it's time you get to know a bit about me other side

Hangatyr looks questioning

Shiam says: you see... I'm cursed

Chessire says: Would you believe that sick joke?
Sacho sighs. "Well, in that case you are probably going to need this." He hands her a double bottle.

Sacho whispers.
Chessire grins and takes the bottle.

Hangatyr still looks questioning "Yes?"
Shiam says: i was born under a dark spell, most of the things i do daily, i can control, but many things... i can't, especially magic... everything i try to cast... ends up dead... or worse
Hangatyr says: "Ohh .."
Shiam says: so, i'd just wanted you to know, if you stick around me, you'll likely get in trouble...

Kada-El returns slowly to its normal life, filled to the brim with this special kind of everyday madness which is so characteristic for any big town, especially Hydlaa.
The Azure sun is already dim.

No one still expects the unexpected.

...several days later... (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37925.0)

The Yarrow Note Game (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37925.0) is now open!

Feel free to apply, it can make you famous, heh heh! :)

I'd propose presenting the stories in narrative form. It's tidier and usually more summarized. Leave the logs as reference, for people who want to look deeper into the story.

Besides that, it's always good to see player-oriented roleplays, despite their quality. in fact, it's good to see any type of oriented roleplay... But unfortunately PS team is too busy for that and so we much sate each others' hungers.

The name's not too good. Or we might start seeing Lord of the Things and Magic the Blabbering if this practise gets in fashion.

2Sangwa: Well, it seems we're on a constructive disagreement here. Narratives (or summaries) are usually not that helpful to those new to RP, because they don't actually show how do things happen ingame. And even for somewhat advanced RP noobs like me, summaries still look very much like the creative work of one person (the one proceeding the logs), not as communicative effort of everyone who took part.

So sorry, I'll keep trying to take after Auctioning Victims (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=35892.0), not the Bloodline (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=36609.0). Mostly ;)

And the Yarrow Note game isn't a fulfilled event, it's a real RP game to be played by anyone who would like to join. So... sorry again, no logs so far *wink*

The name stays. You just wait, heh heh :)

Lots of love!

You're right. Narrations are creative.

I disagree with you on a point though: logs teach new players as much as in-game interaction does. And I told you to keep the logs there as references, not to make them vanish.

The thing is: not everyone is able to read logs. In fact, most people get bored or demotivated from it. However if they see a summary, they might feel interested in clicking on the  "See How This Came To Be!" link.

Your "game" doesn't look much different than good, healthy roleplay plot. Roleplay Games usually have those type of plots where some definite actions are able to being played out (an example is finding out where something came from). It looks better when you don't make it look like a game though. :P

EDIT: Changed the writing so it gets more comprehensible. Sashia got it anyway, but not everyone's that clever.

Thanks a lot Sangwa, I guess I see your point now and I'll try to add some sort of summary later, for easier reading.

About games and plots: plots don't usually have winners, right? Well, in that game we're hoping to get one! Or two. Or three... we'll see  :P
Title: Re: The Song of Ice on Fire
Post by: Sangwa on August 25, 2010, 01:39:21 am
Yup, roleplay plots don't usually have winners. But they usually have some adventurer who ends up doing something important and often (not forcefully, though) gets rewarded.

When I said it's better not to see your plot as a game I was being close minded. The OOC presentation is hardly relevant, what matters is the experience the players will have going through it. And I bet they'll have fun with yours.

Thanks for the work, thanks for listening and sorry for my previous post's writing. I was in a hurry :P

Scene 2, Hydlaa Arena, Hydlaa
(played Jul 2010, said locations)

Veja Pontor's ears twitch slightly as she strives to hear past the solitary hammer ringing in her smithy. Her sharp senses are alert. Was it footsteps?
It's too early in the morning, and the Arena hasn't awakened yet. Tiny draughts murmur throughout its stairs and passages, making Veja recall all her years spent in making weapons; countless steps, countless shields, countless faces. No, she isn't sorry for the path in life she had once choosen. It wasn't, by any means, easy. It was fruitful and fulfilling nevertheless.
Her gaze wanders upon the single user of her anvil this morning. A middle-aged dwarf, one of the best smiths on the Dome, Hangatyr. Veja feels relieved at the thought that she won't have to check upon him. Once he leaves, everything will be left in perfect order, every work surface cleaned, every tool in its proper place.
What was it again? Yes, this time for sure, footsteps. Too light for any of the bigger races. Another Enki, or maybe young Ylian or... or, probably, an elf.
A couple of minutes pass, and a slim figure approaches the smithy. A male elf, his young-looking countenance belied by the burden of wisdom in his bright eyes. The name escapes Veja's memory, but she had seen this one before. A honorable scholar from Hydlaa, one of those who fight with words. Hardly any business to be done here, but she answers his polite greeting sincerely, showing a good deal of respect to the newcomer. There is more to weapons than just metal, Veja knows that.

>Erelenga Karal greets everyone.

Erelenga says: Ah, Master Hangatyr! I see you have little time.

Hangatyr turns around slowly, to avoid damage done on the part he's working on

Hangatyr says: Ahh Master Erelenga, what a pleasure to see you again
Erelenga says: Indeed. If you agree, it would be nice to meet you somewhere where we can talk easily.
Erelenga says: When you are ready. Finish your work without pressure from me.
Hangatyr nods "yes, thank you, me'll be done in a second"

>Erelenga Karal takes a seat.
Hangatyr clears his gear and heads towards Erelenga
>Erelenga Karal stands up.

Upon making their bows to Veja and leaving the smithy, the two set out towards the Arena exit. Veja's senses feel some mistery there, but no time to dwell upon it more. Another apprentice just entered the smithy. Yet another working day begins.

Erelenga says: Where would you prefer to have a seat?
Hangatyr shrugs "hmm .. how about the plaza? as me'll meet Keella over there
Erelenga says: Good.
Hangatyr says: Lead on Sir

As soon as they're about to leave the last windy stone corridor which connects the Arena to the town, a small lithe female figure approaches from the other side. A dwarven woman smiles and waves as she notices Hangatyr and Erelenga.

Keella says: hello dear

>Erelenga Karal greets Keella.
Hangatyr hugs his love
>Keella greets Erelenga Karal.

Erelenga says: What a surprise.

Keella smiles

Erelenga says: We were just about to go to the plaza to meet you, mylady.
Hangatyr says: yes indeed as I thought you been at Harnquist waitin' for me

Keella chuckles "I wanted to surprise you dear"
Hangatyr smiles "it was honey"
Keella nods "shall we go now?"

Not far from Harnquist's smithy, the trio finds a suitable spot under the tree. Soot and smoke don't reach here, but at least two hammers can be heard already, piercing the quiet of the morning which is unusually hot, by the way, for the very beginning of Kravaan.

>Keella takes a seat.
>Erelenga Karal takes a seat.
Keella laughs

Erelenga says: So, how are you today?
Hangatyr inquires politely: "Are you talkin' to me? Well, if yes I am fine, a bit tired as of lots of work, but better than yesterday, tho"
Keella smiles "Not bad after a long day of work"

Erelenga says: Hmm... escaping into work somehow? I heard of a great loss you had recently.

Hangatyr folds his arms across his chest nodding slowly

Erelenga says: I hope I can help you somehow retrieving it back, by talking in detail about the happenings.

Keella sighs thinking of what happened

Hangatyr says: "Well anything that will help .. even answering questions, which I doubt would be helpful .. me will try"
Erelenga says: So, to summarise it, your axe got stolen?
Hangatyr frowns as he nods "Yes .. some coward had the guts stealing it."

Keella nods slowly taking her man's hand

Erelenga says: Every crime has its facts and details. All the right questions will reveal traces: what, where, when, how, who, why.
Erelenga says: Let's start with "what". Tell me about your axe.

Hangatyr reaches for Keella's hand and squeezes it lightly

Erelenga says: Describe it in detail. What is so special about it?
Hangatyr says: "Erm .. the axe yes .. Icy-Fire .. long time ago me decided to craft an axe, an axe powerful and mighty. So I went down to Levrus and asked him if he's willin' to assist me in that task"

>Erelenga Karal listens intently to Hangatyr.

Hangatyr says: And as I'd been standing at the forge using the best steel, me forged an axe with care and precision

>Erelenga Karal dropped an Ink and Paper.
Erelenga takes notes.

Hangatyr gets lost in thoughts for a moment before he continues
Keella shakes Hangtyr's hand to encourage him and smiles

Hangatyr says: A battle axe unseen before. Two large blades, each one engraved with dwarven runes, and light weighted too, even though it is a two-hander it can be also wielded single handed

Erelenga nods respectfully

Erelenga says: So it is easily recognisable. Obviously a special one.
Hangatyr nods "ah ne, this one is a unique piece of art, there will be no second one, never"

Erelenga says: I see... How many people know about it? How many have seen it? I believe you are proud of it so much you'd shown it to many?
Hangatyr shakes his head "Nah .. even if it is strapped to me back, it's still covered with fine linen, not many have seen it, ne"
Erelenga says: That's an interesting point. And, uhm - it has magic abilities?
Hangatyr nods "Ohh yes it does. Soon as me was done me went back to Levrus again and he'd suggested to get Sharven's assistance as well. Erm .. not many do know but me is a mage too, so us three used all of our power to cast a spell over the axe and we did well"
Erelenga says: Impressive.
Hangatyr says: "The axe will upon command engulf its blades in icy-blue flames which both burn and freeze the opponents, ne"

Keella smiles

Erelenga says: Indeed unique. If many people knew about that, many would try to get it.
Erelenga says: Good. I believe we know now "what".
Hangatyr says: Well as none knows the command except me, it's useless
Erelenga says: Nevertheless, it is a sharp one.
Hangatyr nods in agreement "Sharp to cut a strain of silk lenghtwise, ne"

>Erelenga Karal greets Eurac Hog.

Erelenga says: Well, let's continue to the "where".
Hangatyr says: "uhmm the 'where' yes .. easy as it happened at Kada-El"
Erelenga says: Kada-El's, hmm.
Hangatyr says: Yes at Kada's, it's a fine place to stay and Allelia isn't responsible for the customers walking in and out, ne
Keella says: we like to hang out there
Erelenga says: Quite a big building. Where exactly have you been in there?
Hangatyr says: After I spend a whole day working at the mine me went down there to have an ale or two .. and as usual me dropped the axe right next to the counter and ordered a few mugs of her finest.
Erelenga says: So that goes to the "when" as well. It was in the evening?
Hangatyr nods to himself "Yes .. it was evening time, my lovely wife was at home running some chores and me planned to join her later on"

Erelenga says: You dropped the axe next to the counter...
Hangatyr nods "Yes I know it's a bad habit of mine"
Keella hugs her man and stands to leave "if you excuse me, I must leave you now"

Hangatyr returns the hug gently
>Erelenga Karal stands up.
>Keella stands up.
Erelenga waves goodbye: Mylady.
>Erelenga Karal takes a seat.

Erelenga says: Hmm - so we already get to the "how". Did anything unexpected happen?
Hangatyr says: Erm yes .. after speaking to some friends .. mainly to Counsillor Eelin .. a lass yelled for help, screamed she don't wanna die, ne
Erelenga says: So someone surprised you, and you possibly forgot about the axe?
Hangatyr nods "Yes, as soon as the lass yelled, Eelin and me went outside to see what's going on and to help"
Erelenga says: A lass... a woman, I assume. Try to remember, that's important.
Erelenga says: It is about the "who".
Hangatyr says: Erm .. yes if you wanna call it that way

Erelenga says: How did it sound? What kind of woman do you believe it was?
Hangatyr says: Sound what? The scream?
Erelenga says: Young or older? Which race - clear like an elf, or remarkable like a stonebreaker?
Erelenga says: Rolled like an enkidukai? Hissed like a klyros?
Hangatyr says: A poor little lass from the streets, a Noltrir

Hangatyr points at Esepy "A lass like her"
Esepy says: What about me?
Erelenga says: Just a sample, miss.

Erelenga says: Did you find her? Did you see her, Hangatyr?
Hangatyr says: Yes we did found her, laying in her own blood at the backside ot the tavern, ne
Erelenga says: Oh. So it was a serious case. That's even more concerning.
Hangatyr says: Yes, but the circumstances .. well let's call it strange
Erelenga says: I already agree. You believe it was put to distract you?

Hangatyr says: Eh lassie sheathe yer weapon please, unless ye wanna get in trouble with the guards

Esepy frowns
Hangatyr shrugs and continues his story

Hangatyr says: "Well you are right Sire, it was a set-up to distract me as the lass .. erm her name is believed to be .. " Hangatyr ponders for a moment: "Kirna .. yes Kirna. Well, she told us that someone paid her"

Erelenga frowns

Erelenga says: Paid to be killed? Hmm. People don't fear the Death Realm.
Hangatyr shakes his head "Nah not to be killed, he stabbed her in her thigh, just deep enough to make her bleeding hard and scream loud"
Erelenga says: So, that's the "how". Still there is a question "who". Someone has paid then.
Hangatyr says: yes, and it must be at least two involed, I guess. Someone at the outside and someone waiting to act as soon as me left the tavern
Erelenga says: Could it be that the second one already was in the tavern?
Erelenga says: And... not only. Someone might even have expected you doing it. Might have watched you over days. Recognised your habit leaving your axe at the counter.
Hangatyr runs a hand through his beard "Yes two .. erm what? Ohh can't tell as it was quite crowded that day"

Erelenga says: Someone might have watched you over weeks?
Hangatyr says: Hmm .. possible yes, but even if, me didn't noticed any, ne
Erelenga says: That's a pity!

Hangatyr says: "after me became aware that the axe is missing, me immediately asked around if any of the customers had seen the instance, but none did. Only some vague description about the thief. "All me knows by askin' around, it was a male"
Erelenga says: So we won't solve the "who" today, probably. What is still left? The "why".

Hangatyr says: "Well to be honest, I have no clue .. the axe without knowing the command is, beside it's a real piece of art, is like .. well unlike any other, but for the thief .. useless"

Hangatyr hunches his shoulders, feeling miserable inside

Erelenga says: Hmm. When no one except you can use its full powers... then maybe someone is going to blackmail you for buying it back?
Erelenga says: Or even worse, kidnap someone close to you to make you tell him the words?

Hangatyr nods slowly, a little hope sparkling in his eyes "You think so?"
Erelenga says: You never know. Evil minds have diverse ideas.
Hangatyr frowns "Hmm .."

Hangatyr says: "If me ever gets a hand on him, I will kill him." He growls in a deep, low tone that makes even Erelenga cringe. "Unworthy fool," he spits, "he don't deserve to live."
Erelenga says: Uhm, eh... I... can imagine, Sir. Still, the law is in the responsibility of the Octarchy.
Hangatyr says: "Ohh yes it is. Within its capabilities it is, but not outside the gates, ne"

Erelenga sighs

Erelenga says: Well, I hope you will see it more clearly soon.
Hangatyr says: Yes, I hope so too
Erelenga says: And I hope you won't do anything unexcusable.

>Erelenga Karal picked up an Ink and Paper

Erelenga says: I'd recommend you to have a sleep now. Your dreams might reveal something overseen.
Hangatyr says: Well maybe I don't kill him, maybe not. Instead I place a crazed, hungry, plague carrying diseased rat in his bed. Then sit back and watch the fun.
Erelenga says: You make me dream of it.

>Erelenga Karal stands up.
Erelenga waves goodbye.

Hangatyr nods slightly "Yes Sire Erelenga you are right .. and thank you for listening to my story"

>Hangatyr stands up.
>Hangatyr makes a bow to Erelenga Karal.

At Harnquist's, there are at least six hammers rising and falling now. The morning is nearly over, and Hydlaa is fully awakened, its numerous inhabitants being ready to yet another day of intense happenings. Everyone awaits something. A lucky chance? A little less heat? Or, maybe, something totally unexpected? I'm so sorry I can't tell you more, my gentle reader, as our three heroes just left the scene, and I'm needed in another place, far in the East. I promise to be back to you with more news as soon as I can. Till then, fare well!
