Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Damola says: Haha… and how would I even do that? Travel too quickly? I am not aware of a way to do that in game.
Damola says: Reach unusual places and sneak Damola out of the regular in game map boundaries, no prob… but traveling too quickly? No idea.

Uadjet says: I think we can assume it's a bug. You were attacking with mouse buttons and not the attack book, right?

Uadjet says: It seems that the game at least sometimes changes target to yourself when you hit tab to enter combat mode.
Lurielle says: And sometimes I can hit the creature but others no one gets hurt, but that bug is already in the bug traker
Damola says: Legacy PS or Unreal PS?

Uadjet says: I'll do some more testing on that this week, with varying critters. The combat for the promo vid seemed to work well, so maybe it's caused by certain conditions.

Uadjet says: It was a newly created Lemur, so I didn't have the stats set to something ludicrous like 5k. I only did 6000 damage or so.
Thosor says: It also would target myself or Lurielle much more oftewn than the enemy.
Uadjet says: Hmm. Target priority seems odd. Proximity, maybe? Although it seems like you'd be adjacent to the enemy.
Uadjet says: Gonger?
Gonger says: Greetings. If a character gets deleted by the player, is the name of the character blocked, or can somebody else create a new character with the same name?
Uadjet says: The name is available for others to use, though a GM can block a name if a petition is filed.
Gonger says: Ah, nice to know. Thank you.
Uadjet says: We do that with inappropriate names. There's no way we can predict which inappropriate names players could come up with (imagines hordes of Fortnite players joining the game) so when we change their name we block the one that broke the rules afterwards.
Gonger says: The game is rather empty today...
Gonger says: I can give you a list of French or German names that should be blocked. ;)

Gonger says: Believe it or not, a few months ago I met someone in the Welcome Area who went by the name of A****loch. Loch means hole in German, I hink this is enough to fully understand that name...

Uadjet says: Talad's done more work on the Dryken Plane, which is the place new players will travel through immediately after character creation.

Talad says: yes the Dryken plane is a new area you will find just after charcater creation
Talad says: the reason is that you are travelling between your homeworld and Yliakum (for lemur and kran there is a slight different story, but pretty much you end up there anyway)

Talad says: and your travel gets interrupted, so you end up in the Dryken plane
Talad says: for the people who played D&D or such, you can associate it to the Astral Plane
Talad says: is a different plane of existance
Talad says: you need to exit from it, with a simple puzzle, but the point of the area is for you to learn about some important topics
Talad says: which will be part of the main plot of the game
Talad says: about the main plot it will giude you through different discoveries in Yliakum
Talad says: and maybe ultimately will let you understand why we are all here!
Talad says: another topics Im working on at the moment, is the character creation, to make it more user friendly to the people who wants to know the numbers behind the choices
Talad says: so you will have a way to see what effect each choice has on your initiatl stats and skills
Talad says: that is something you can hide and ignore if you are more interested to the background of the choices, more than the numbers
Dentritus says: Will there be a possibility of a quest reset, so existing characters can do these quests as well?
Talad says: I also added more ambient sounds to PSUnreal as there were not many as in PS legacy
Talad says: about the Dryken plane I would say no, as would make little sense for you to go back there
Talad says: but it doesnt really count as a quest
Talad says: its more of an intro
Talad says: prologue
Talad says: about other quests reset, that may be tricky as you may get items twice when redoing the quests
Talad says: so it may not be correct to do so
Uadjet says: The ambient sounds can also be randomized, or set to only play at certain times of day.
Uadjet says: That'll give a nice bit of realism.

Uadjet says: And in character creation, there's a new visual experience in there, and as new players in PSU are coming in from different worlds some of the background options will need to be adapted or just be unavailablel.
Gonger says: Sounds very very interesting.
Uadjet says: It would be really nice to see species/world specific options in there.

Uadjet says: The plan is to avoid the min/maxing of character creation a bit. I think everyone here is experienced enough to k now that starting with 4 ranks in a skill versus 6 ranks in that skill is a really small difference.
Uadjet says: The difference of a few points in an attribute is even less significant.
Uadjet says: So the story of the background is more important than the points.
Uadjet says: People can still max things out if they want, but we don't want new players thinking they have to create the perfect character or be useless.
Uadjet says: Oh! And chat logs. Talad has also been working on getting chat logs working.

Talad says: yes, I 've been adding few options to chat logs, as in PSUreal were not there
Talad says: and in PSLegacy they are a bit obscure, with all the possible message types in the list
Talad says: Options->Chat Logs
Thosor says: logs would help to reemember bugs encountered.
Thosor says: would logs write in real time in case server goes down in the middle of something?
Uadjet says: I believe so. Our current log system does.
Talad says: yes, the logs are client side
Talad says: and are written at every received line, so you should not lose anything
Thosor says: speaking off.. amy way to delete repettive lines in a 2 year old log? (not mac or windows)
Thosor says: such as a repeating NPC or attack.
Uadjet says: I've used Notepad++ to select lines containing certain bits of text and delete them.
Talad says: some macro from notepad++ can help
Talad says: but I dont see an easy way

Gonger says: You can search for certain strings in Notepad++ and mark and delete them
Gonger says: But it is ... painful, yes.
Gonger says: My main log is at 55 GB
Thosor says: thats a windows app?
Uadjet says: If you look for and mark strings like "hits you for" it can be not terribly painful.
Uadjet says: And seeing thousands of lines being deleted at a time is very satisfying.
Thosor says: nvm I'll find something, not a PS problem.
Talad says: Gonger, archive it by year maybe?
Uadjet says: I'm just trying to process a 55gb log file...
Uadjet says: I don't think notepad can even open that...
Thosor says: I like to look through whole log at once, say for a familiar name or action.
Gonger says: I use a different editor also, Visual Studio Code. Superfast even on files of that size, but does not word wrap properly, because too many people use non-standard characters too often...
Gova says: I split my logs by year(ish), but stopped once I stopped generating millions of lines of crafting and combat spam.
Gonger says: Talad, I want to see all my logs...
Gonger says: Gova, you should split your logs according to activites first. There is an option for that.
Damola says: I just let Kate editor deal with the large file. Its still not perfect but they have been improving performance quite a lot meanwhile

Thosor says: I thought of loading into a line numbered page, the deleting rat bites you, rat bites you.

Gova says: True. I used to have System logged in a different file. Not sure why.
Gonger says: For me it was the other way round, for a long time I had Combat in my Chat...
Thosor says: Oh, didn't think it could be so granulated. i have combat in my chat.
Talad says: I think its handy to split combat to a separate file, or not log it at all
Thosor says: not a dev problem, anyway.
Damola says: Whoa! Just tested again editor performance in current Kate. Loading of 58 MB file is almost instant. Scrolling in it is instant. And searching is a miracle even: It updates display *as you type* there is no visible delay. Searching has been a problem before, but that is insane.
Gova says: The only time I'd check my combat log is to see what killed me.
Damola says: Kate 21.08.1 on Linux, with admittedly a quite fast laptop with lots of RAM
Gonger says: Damola, does it word-wra properly? And is it Linux only?
Anysu says: Be helpful to have certain things, like combat, or crafting etc not be logged at all.
Gonger says: Check Options / Interface / Chat-Logs and define what you want to save in which log file, or not at all.
Damola says: kate-editor.org – available for Windows as well. You tried it once, Gonger, but back then searching was still slow. Now searching for me is absolutely crazy. They did something there.
Thosor says: Its in my system, will try it soon.
Damola says: I do not use fixed word wrapping on the file, it automatically wraps at window size

Gonger says: That is exactly what I want, Damola. I will check it again, then.
Damola says: Not sure how it behaves on Windows, but on Linux it is superfluent now. Searching has been quite an issue before, but now, zero delay.
Damola says: For as you type this is quite an achievement I'd say.
Uadjet says: Since we're on the topic of chat logs, any other thoughts on that topic while we have Talad handy?
Talad says: or any other question
Thosor says: not scrolling was my biggest complaint, when in action with another player.
Uadjet says: Damola?
Damola says: I'd consider a few changes to chat log. Chat log for a day is quite long often enough, so I'd include a date on each line. Or even use a standard time format like with "date -Iseconds"
Talad says: everytime you reopen it , it prints the day and time as header
Damola says: And it would be nice to always easily determine what chat tab a message is in. NPC and other stuff can be separated easily, however everything is main tab is just distinguishable by filtering everything else out. doable with grep, but unnecessarily complex.
Damola says: Yeah, but when you search in it, you need to scroll up quite a bit to find date of a message.
Talad says: I think I added a tag on each line now

Damola says: Ah, I did not check PSUnreal log, just going from the classic one.

Gonger says: I am a bit annoyed in Unreal that I have to click EXACTLY the text line to set my focus, whereas in Legacy I can click anywhere in the chat window

Damola says: Hmm ~/.condig/Epic/PSUnreal/Saved … but do not see a chat log in there.
Uadjet says: An actual LIxux user might want to chime in.
Damola says: ini files, crash reports, PSUnreal.log, Savegames, but no chat log. Maybe I need to enable it first?
Uadjet says: In Windows it's PSUnreal/Saved/Logs, I think.
Damola says: Hmmm, PSUnreal server is not online at the moment, so can't check.
Uadjet says: Not character logs, but client logs.
Damola says: Ah, I do has PSUnreal.log in there, but no character log
Talad says: the new logs functions are not in your PSunreal client
Talad says: will be in the next alpha
Thosor says: us loded legacy log in Kate, yes, search is instant.
Damola says: Ah okay, will check then Talad.
Damola says: Thosor, before search in kate used to block for seconds or even half a minute, but now is great.

Migg says: One issue here is that, once renamed, you can't tell if a book is public or not
Damola says: Will all our old books still work?
Talad says: all the books which contain only "text" will be migrated with no problems
Migg says: can there be something in the description that says which kind they are in PSU?
Talad says: the books which contain special characters, will require you to copy from text file, and paste into PSU
Talad says: consider that copy/paste works in PSU in all fields by default
Damola nods "I see. So better save all important self written books as text files before the switch."
Migg says: The syntax that exists for inserting images works the same?
Anysu says: ah the books by Migg and Anysu have pictures.
Talad says: the books with images will require some editing on your side to put them in, and there is a small guide on that in pswiki
Damola says: Cut & paste in all fields is really great to have.
Talad says: you can test that right now btw, by cuying ablank book as usual in PSUnreal
Migg says: Ah, I need to try that and see how it works

Talad says: the books with drawings at the moment are not supported, but hopefully will be in the future
Damola says: You should be entitled to, Migg, you are certainly playing PS for longer than 200 hours.
Talad says: maybe take a screenshot of those books just in case
Migg says: what about the distinction between public and normal books?
Gonger says: Copy / Paste will be a GREAT addition!!!
Migg says: giving away a public book allows everyone to make copies

Thosor says: On a similar note, when you put a crafted item into storage here, you lose the crafter's name when retreiving.

Talad says: consider PSU is in a pretty good state at the moment

Holesod says: on win10 my video card driver times out so I have been living in linux

Thosor says: w10 uses both graphics cards, can't tell on linux.
Anysu says: My machine is way older than 2 years.
Migg says: Have a GTX 660M, need to see how it fares
Holesod says: I can tell which gfx card I use on linux with both Mint and Ubuntu
Damola says: ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 with AMD Ryzen 4750 Pro with integrated graphics is doing between 15 and 60 fps.
Migg says: not sure it is supported
Thosor says: built mine 4 yrs agp.
Damola says: On Linux. AMD developers are still optimizing gfx drivers for Linux.
Holesod says: uh oh
Thosor says: new gcards are hundreds now, stupid bitcoin mining craze.
Holesod says: hope that the AMD devs don't muck it up like they did on windows
Migg says: pandemic has also messed up supply for all chips

Damola says: At least here there is still more than enough supply with used PCs and laptops.
Damola says: Even this T14 I bought has been used.
Holesod says: it impacts everything serviced by semiconductors
Thosor says: I should look for a recent tpad on craigtslist, though I prefer desktop. I have enough laptops kicking around.
Damola says: I made a bargain on it. I would have paid almost double the price if buying new.
Talad says: buying new is still an issue I think

Damola says: Ryzen based AMD ThinkPads are really nice.
Damola says: I made very good experienced buying used, but of course mileage may vary.
Damola says: delivery of a new ThinkPad might have taken me three months or more.

Thosor says: I think a lot won't easily be able to go to PSU.
Damola says: Hmmm, on Linux you need Vulkan drivers, but I am not sure whether PSUnreal would be much slower when probably lowering gfx settings a bit.
Talad says: Im continuing to make good progress on PSUnreal
Talad says: I did one pass on all the characters to improve a bit the geometry

Talad says: mostly in the shoulders, to make those more round
Damola says: Crystalspace based PS and PSUnreal have similar speed here. CS PS seems to be CPU bound, PSUnreal seems to be gfx chip bound. Unreal does unfortunately not utilize more than maybe one and a half CPU core.

Damola says: In PSUnreal. Running is fine, but walking is kind of amusing.
Talad says: In PSU at the moment all the animations are the same for all characters

Damola says: I tried emotes, most were same animations. I bet it is lots of work to add animations.

Damola says: Ah… I wonder about character at rest animations? In CS PS its always the same animation. Is there some variation in PSUnreal?
Damola says: How you do use those stances?

The GM team is made up of people from all over the world who have come together to make this game more enjoyable, and are responsible for helping players with their in-game issues. The GM team strives to help keep the game free of bugs, exploitation, abuse, and harassment. With large numbers of people online, such problems arise now and again, and the Game Masters intervene when necessary.

Below you can find the names of current Game Masters on the team so that players are aware of who they can turn to for help and who they should definitely listen to if approached.  Please do not try to engage the GMs with idle chatter, as they are often dealing with issues that need their full attention - only send them messages if you truly need help with a problem. They are closely monitored for their actions and at many times are very busy with player requests. When contacting a GM keep this in mind: A GM should not be constantly paged by a player asking for something - we consider this GM Harassment. If the Game Master has not answered you, please assume they are busy and contact them later. Usually, a few minutes should do.  You may also alternatively file an in-game petition about your issue, and the moment a free GM becomes available, they will look into it.

Q: What actions does the GM Team perform?

Ensure that the Player Code of Conduct and game rules are enforced and take appropriate action against players that disregard these rules.
Assist in keeping the player free from unwanted harassment.
Assist in reporting bugs found in the game.
Assist in providing feedback for new game functions or modifications to existing functions to the development team.
Relocate players who are stuck in the game geography due to a bug with that portion of the game world.
Assist in other problems that are not otherwise covered by the Game FAQ
Assist with the /help channel.
Checking for frequently hit bugs, errors, or misleading game functions.
 
            ** NOTE: Reporting bugs, problems and possible enhancement of the game is a critical part of the GM Team's duties.

Encourage roleplay and other initiatives players may have, like creation of new guilds, role playing certain situations or characters, provide wedding services, etc., that have been deemed allowable by the settings development department.
Create and run dynamic quests and events in the game that have been approved by the settings development department.



Q: What actions does the GM Team not perform?

It is the goal of the GM team to help a player with any possible situation as long as:


It does not involve giving "spoiler" information, such as detailed directions, quest information, or information on creatures, armor and weapons.

            ** Knowledge of these subjects is considered part of the "mystery" of the game. It is part of the game to adventure and learn the wonders of the world of Yliakum through your own means of discovery.

It does not create an exploitable situation.

            ** An example of this would be teleporting characters due to an unverifiable bug. GMs will not teleport players to a location, except in the case where there is a definite bug involved.

It would not constitute favoritism or compete with activities conducted by players in the game.

            ** For example, GMs will not give out items unless part of an officially sanctioned RP quest or event. We cannot give items upon request for every player in the game, so it is unfair to do it for a few. This would also interfere with the player economy and the worth of items.  GMs do occasionally hold events in which characters may come and have their items renamed to one of their choosing, so long as it fits in with the settings of the game.


Q: How can I become a Game Master?

So you are considering applying to the GM team? You will want to check this thread to ensure that the GM team is currently recruiting new members.  If they are, then please proceed below to see if you meet the following qualifications.

First, you must be over 21 and have been playing for a minimum of 3 months
Before you do anything, talk to some GMs either in IRC via irc.freenode.net #planeshift-gmtalk, or PM's via the forum, or if the GM isn't busy and only if the first two options are unavailable ask via /tell in game if the GM has time to talk and help you, to decide whether you really want to apply.

If you decide to apply, approach any GM and inform them that you would like to join the team. That GM will start a thread on the GM forum, and the same GM will then monitor and manage your application.

The GM managing your application will search through the report logs and Player history etc and post the results.

You will also be asked to submit a short written application detailing your Planeshift history, how long playing, number of characters etc. your age, real name, time zone, and a brief explanation of why you wish to become a GM. This will be posted in your application thread.

In the next step at least 3 GM's will interview you in a group to assess whether you will fit into the team, reasons for joining, level of English and any other relevant information. The logs of this discussion will also be posted in this thread.

Once all the information is collected, the GM team will comment until a consensus is formed and the applicant is either denied or if successful the application will be forwarded to Sarva and a suitable time will be negotiated to perform the final interview. The assessment of the interview will be discussed with Talad.

If all goes well: Welcome to the GM team!

This game isn't going to be monetized, though. It's free. Always has been, and always will be.

Getting in-game benefits (a sword that nobody else has, for example) by paying RL money simply does not fit within the concept of the game. You want a unique item? Come to an engraver event and pay 2 circles (ingame currency) to have an item renamed something unique. Ta-Daa!

There is no point in trying to introduce NFT's to a situation that is designed to not ever have an exchange of real currency.

Uadjet says: I think so, Anysu. Right now it's still buggy to change from player race to monster and then back again, but a relog would fix that.

Damola says: During the first event the server crashed several times, Uadjet, when was this? It was often somewhat around a group teleport, wasn't it?

Uadjet says: A group teleport did seem to crash the server. We can test that again.

Damola says: However… when running around on my own in PSUnreal I had no crashes, so it was something specific to the event.
Uadjet says: I teleported individuall after that, but for large events of 20+ people that would get tedious.
Damola says: Maybe the server can store crash dumps during the event, I think events are a good test case for PSUnreal
Uadjet says: Add a "y" to the previous sentence. If you can't spot where it should go, just add it anywhere.

Uadjet says: We could just add one more sector on the Gug/Amdeneir side. That would add Listarindel, Quinterion (Dermorian), Araloth kel'Maren (Stonehammer), and the Pterosaur Brone Doors.

Damola says: That would be nice, but also a huge lot of work!

Uadjet says: It's in Weapons - Shortswords, not Quest Items.
Uadjet says: Merchants buy by category, so as there's no merchant players can access that buys quest items, selling them should be impossible.

Gonger says: Wrong category, I think that is what Dentritus meant.

Uadjet says: I'll pass that along. As the only use for the item is in a quest, it probably should be in that category.

Dentritus says: On the other hand a way to mark items as blocked so one can't sell them accidentally would be nice too
Uadjet says: That would work, though creating another flag is probably more work.
Uadjet says: There are other items that can be sold but shouldn't be, of course.
Uadjet says: So a flag would be the better solution.

Uadjet says: Talad released the new alpha - we're at 7.11 now - which includes a long list of fixes and updates.
Damela says: And we did first event in it yesterday! :)

Damela says: Exploring Delver. Catching a thief.
Damela says: Well except for I think 3-4 server crashes, yes.

Uadjet says: We tested things out and other than a crash possibly caused by a group teleport everything went well.
Anysu says: Awe neat. Too bad about the crash though.
Uadjet says: Talad's trying to track down the examine crash, but hasn't been able to reproduce it again.
Dentritus says: The movement in PSU takes some getting used to
Gonger says: Ah, during next event, then... :)
Fayrene says: maybe its the group? how much were there?
Gonger says: My impression is that most movement types are not implemented yet.
Mishka says: Paladin showing up again
Damela says: Yeah, those crashes do not happen when you run around in PSUnreal. It did this for more than a hour without a crash
Damela says: So it appeared to be something to have to do with event stuff.
Uadjet says: Movement does take a bit of getting used to, that's true. It's just a bit different.
Uadjet says: Everyone tested out the mantling system at the event.
Mishka says: I still don't like that fenkis have hunched shoulders
Uadjet says: Getting onto that roof is not easy.
Dentritus says: I crashed a lot when fighting
Dentritus says: And the rolling animation killed me a few times when I jumped down on the ledge in the death realm - rolled right of the way

Uadjet says: Ah, yes. You do a little roll when you fall down a certain distance.
Uadjet says: It's always fun falling a kilometer and doing a little roll to absorb the impact. :D

Anysu says: Do you take less damage then when roll?
Gonger says: Some stairs need real climbing, at least for me.
Uadjet says: I have no idea, as I don't take falling damage.
Uadjet says: Like in the Plaza, Gonger?

Damela says: I did not take any damage in PSUnreal so far, maybe did not yet jump down from high enough.
Dentritus says: I tried and there is no falling damage :)

Uadjet says: Okay, so falling damage is still off for everyone.
Mishka says: They'll toggle it overnight and set up a camera to laugh at us

Thosor says: I wish turning wouldn't stop when mouse pointer hits edge of screen.
Thosor says: extra wear and tear on fingers.
Uadjet says: But as for the last update to Unreal, a lot of small fixes were done. You can do pterosaur travel now, which will make things a lot easier.
Thosor says: pterasaur looks like a squashed pigeon.
Uadjet says: The long running times from place to place are being considered. As I've said before it's a 21 minute sprint from Amdeneir to Hydlaa alone, and I don't know how long players will be able to sprint in PSU.

Dentritus says: really, was the first thing I tried and didn't manage it :(
Uadjet says: Sprinting is double running speed, so without sprinting it would be over 40 minutes to run between Amdeneir and Hydlaa.
Fayrene says: and on a rivnak?
Anysu says: Long time.
Thosor says: how fast for mounting when implemented?
Uadjet says: I haven't been able to test mount speed. I'll try morphing instead, and see if turning into a rivnak gives me their speed. It does in Legacy, so maybe...
Damela says: I still did not manage to mount a mount though or to actually sit in PSUnreal

Fayrene says: btw... about sitting.... will it be able to sit on a chair?
Thosor says: sit is long press to ground. sit on chair is short press.
Damela says: Gonger, the outdoor areas have changed a lot
Uadjet says: To sit on a surface other than the ground it should be in front of you, I think. It can be tricky, but iirc I was able to sit on the benches on the elevated section between the Plaza and East Hydlaa.

Uadjet says: I think there is a road from Hydlaa to Amdeneir, but there are a lot of roads on that section of the map and I don't know the route.
Thosor says: I am sitting on the anvil now, I think at the smithy.
Uadjet says: I tend to aim myself in vaguely the right direction, slide myself up half a kilometer, and slide myself forward while falling.
Thosor says: oh, I am sitting with Aleena.

Uadjet says: So the first Unreal event went well, and I've got antother one planned where you'll get to see the new Bronze Doors and what's on the other side.

Anysu says: Surreal knowing you are one place in the world in PSU and in another place in the word in Legacy.
Sudarew says: I have a question: When downloading the unreal game do you need to unzip the file?
Sudarew says: I'm using a windows.
Uadjet says: You do. It's a zip file, iirc.
Anysu says: Neat idea to get to see on other side of the Bronze door.
Sudarew says: Should I unzip it into its current folder, or do I need to zip it into something else?
Uadjet says: There's no install file in there, so just unzip it into wherever you want the game to be.

Gonger says: Yes, zip file, absolutely no problem with that.
Gonger says: But do not try to update from 0.7.8... Download 0.7.10, then use the upgrade function from the launcher.
Uadjet says: So Talad's been working on terraforming the map. He's trying to maximize the playable area and makes things look natural.
Thosor says: Yeah,I don't think it messes with the registry or anything.
Uadjet says: No, you can just unzip and play.
Uadjet says: It installs files to AppData, but does that when you launch the game.
Uadjet says: Talad's also been creating little secret area for things like shrines, remote cabins, random events, etc.
Uadjet says: He didn't livestream that one, of course!

Uadjet says: He hasnt' worked on that in a while. He's worked on the crafting book display, getting it so that selecting an item will show the steps and materials needed to make it.
Uadjet says: It'll be a lot clearer than it is now.
Thosor says: It is fun going through the present books in mind backwards to figure out.

Uadjet says: I'm assuming the portals have a bit of temporal slippage, so people who leave a month apart may arrive here decades apart.
Uadjet says: That or time on the Dryken Plane is really wonky.

Damola says: About PSUnreal, I did not check for myself, maybe it is a known bug. On the way from Gugrontid towards Delver, somewhere higher up a mountain, I am still exploring, it looks all quite different, the color changes considerable. As if inverted. All very bright with lots of yellow and red. Trees in kind of bright yellow or beige… instead of green for example. After walking a bit more on that path way, the color changes to normal again. Is this known?"
Damola says: If not, I may try whether the position command is already implemented, make a screenshot and report it on Flyspray.
Uadjet says: Hmm. I haven't encountered that. It could be an error loading the map tile at the lowest LoD.
Damola says: Hmmm, I will check flyspray then and if I do not find it there, report it.
Damola says: By the way, Delver is nice.
Uadjet says: It is!
Uadjet says: There are still a few of the Hydlaa buildings there. Delver was initially right on the edge of two map tiles. When Talad made the new version he cleared the buildings from the map tile he made the village on, but not the other.
Uadjet says: It'll be fixed, and quite easily, but it's not the highest priority at the moment.
Uadjet says: If there aren't any more questions at the moment, I'll give you a quick update.
Damola says: Yeah, please do.
Uadjet says: Talad's been doing a lot of work (as always) with bugfixing, Tribes, music, and maps.
Migg says: Music!

Uadjet says: The tribes are getting more complex, allowing them to gather resources and even change their environment.
Damola says: Nice, Music! I like the music that plays something in PSUnreal. I think in Hydlaa.
Zarre says: Any progress making it possible for 3 players to start playing music at the same time?
Thosor says: Or to move while playing?
Migg says: Oh, let the band march on!

Uadjet says: I don't know about movign while playing, but Talad is working on player-made and performed music.

Uadjet says: Like when I tried to go from Hydlaa to Homestead, and managed to go 90 degrees in the wrong direction and find the Ojaveda desert.

Uadjet says: I loved watching Amdeneir load in the distance.

Damola says: It still resembles what is in PS CS, but it is a lot more natural and quite different as well.

Damola says: I tried to find a path way from Gug, but didn't. Anyway, no spoilers please, I like to find for myself :)

Damola says: By the way no loading screens when running around in PS Unreal, its all one map ;). For Pterosaur travel, I don't know.
Damola says: Would be great to be sat onto a Pterosaur and experience the actual flying, maybe with a way to shortcut the animation.

Uadjet says: The roads are more of a distraction than a help at the moment, with a few exceptions.

Uadjet says: The current version of unreal has collision turned on for that whole area. Can't even teleport into it.
Uadjet says: Believe me, I tried!

Uadjet says: There are indoor areas like Kada's. Delver has a few buildings that players can enter.
Uadjet says: You just hit "E" (the new interact key) to open the door.
Dentritus says: Did not try Kada's yet, but found no doors so far I could open.
Migg says: do indoor areas resemble the house they are in? like Kada's?
Migg says: GH maps ton't fit their exterior

Uadjet says: Well, the new indoor areas are all part of the same map as the exterior, so unless there's some weird Doctor Who stuff going on, they will match.

Gonger says: Greetings. A question just came to my mind - will it ever be possible for GMs / DEVs to change certain parameters for certain areas? I am thinking of respawn time in a particularly dangerous zone, for example.
Gonger says: Ups, I already hit Enter... sorry

Uadjet says: Hmm. I'll have to ask the Devs about that.
Dentritus says: I think some monsters already have different respawn times
Uadjet says: There is the option in the modify command to change intervals of spawns, but that is Dev only.
Dentritus says: I can confirm it at least for Skalg and the surrounding Tefusangs
Gonger says: A second example from the RP about the Gambling Den... Sometimes it would be less distracting if a conversation could be limited to a smaller area. Sometimes there were three things going on at the same time.
Gonger says: It also happens at the market quite often, that conversations overcross to each other, because the talk zones are too big.
Gonger says: Yeah, good point about Skalg. So it is possible.
Migg says: Like a /whisper like the /shout command?
Uadjet says: I suppose a whisper command could be added, but that won't help much if the default talk range is huge.
Migg says: Perhaps color-coding by range will help?
Migg says: like shouts appear purple?
Migg says: Loud talk is purple, normal is white, low is yellow or grey or something?
Uadjet says: Changing speech range via admin command... I'd not considered that. Maybe it could vary by type of map? Interior vs Exterior?
Gonger says: Well, what I mean is, in the Gambling Den in Paajah's Office, the conversation should be limited to the office instead of being heard throughout the Den. I am just wondering whether such a thing would be possible.

Uadjet says: But being able to dampen or amplify conversation by region/map or individually would be nice.

Uadjet says: Winch guildhouses are a bit different, as they aren't necesarily great for guilds with new players. Getting Winch access isn't intended to be easy.

Damola says: I am finally able to log into PSUnreal. it works with my new laptop, even concurrently to being logged into the old client. I love what I see, the path ways between the cities much more natural. The nature. It looks awesome. However I do have a few question about some functions I could not yet make to work. Wondering whether they are implemented already or not.

Uadjet says: Klyros voices would be interesting. That 'k' at the beginning of some words, for example. Maybe like a clicking sound, like some African languages have?

Damola says: 1) Most important: I did not figure out how to mount a mount. I managed to summon my Rivnak, yet, I do not seem able to mount it. Is it implemented? "Using" it appears to start a NPC dialogue with it.
Damola says: 2) Related: The Pterosaur handler quests. I can click through them, but then nothing happens. I bet Pterosaur travel is not yet implemented?
Talad says: mounts are still not complete, but you should be able to mount it with E
Talad says: E is the interact key for pretty much everythign in PSUnreal
Talad says: point your mouse and press E
Talad says: you can pickup item
Talad says: speak to NPCs

Talad says: Pterosaur quest is not working atm
Damola says: 3) Doors. I did not figure out how to open doors. Neither guild house, nor towers in Gugrontid or enchanting place in magic shop.

Talad says: I will have to test it more then, maybe with different characters
Damola says: Pressing E starts NPC dialogue for me. Hmmm, maybe be settings got bonkers.
Talad says: I think I will have anyway to rework mounts sooner or later in PSUnreal

Talad says: I can give you some updates, as I understand that following the dev streams is not really possible for everyone, as its a lot of hours
Talad says: The release 0.7.10 was a great release adding a lot of new functionality
Talad says: but it has some bugs which will be fixed in 0.7.11
Talad says: 0.7.11 will be mostly a bugfixing, polishing release
Talad says: and will be released as an update with the updater
Talad says: I realized most of our NPCs were not setup for combat, and that's fixed in 0.7.11
Damola says: Nice. I found that mobs did not attack.

Talad says: also fixed some wrong collisions, fixed bow ammo, ability to see second familiars on pet window, fixed invisibility for gms

Damola says: On Linux you need a GPU which is covered by Vulkan drivers. Sandybridge in the ancient ThinkPad T520 was not enough, but Skylake already works. Currently on AMD Ryzen Zen 2 Vega graphics and that works quite well

Damola says: I have another question about PSUnreal. To what extent can it make use of multithreading? My new laptop CPU has eight cores, totalling 16 cores with hyperthreading (totalling 1600% maximum CPU usage). PS CS takes about 50-120%, and PS Unreal may take about 150% but not more.
