I\'m not sure where he saw this, but my brother told me that Planeshift wasn\'t allowing silly or unrealistic names such as PickleHead or Gator16273.

Plus those names ruin the atmosphere. Eg. You\'re attacked by a group of PKers and their names are SuperVlad12, m|k3, and ChaosBard.

Ehh... well think about real life. A knight wasn\'t called a defensive knight, they were just a knight. They needed to use all their skills in battle, they couldn\'t just be a \"defensive knight\". And I think I would not play PS if they had your path \"layed out\" for you.
In real life, you weren\'t bound to a path. A ranger type character shouldn\'t have his future layed out for him, his future should be only what his decisions were. Say, for instance, that ranger wanted to take up lock-picking, thievery, or bartending, if his path was already set in stone he wouldn\'t be able to do this. But, in real life, his path is not set in stone so he can.

Why not have individual pieces of armor? Instead of buying Steel Plate Armor, you could buy Steel Plate Shoulder Pads. Of course, you could buy a whole set, too, but say if someone wanted only armor on their arms, and none on their chest and stomache (maybe just because it looked really cool). Individual pieces of steel armor combined with leather armor you had before simply because you cant afford a whole set right now. Plus it would add great diversity to the game.

Name: Ynish

Description: An Ynish\'s body is shaped much like a bull. The differences are great, though. For one the Ynish\'s body color is that of something burnt, like a charcoal and has no hair on its body. You can see the explanation for this when you see the fire seeping through the cracks of its mouth and eyes. The Ynish\'s insides consist of fire. Its horns, too, are different. The horns do not stick out of the sides of its head like a bull, instead about five to ten horns extend from the back of its head, often entangling each other into one big mess. The Ynish also has no hair on the end of its tail. When one is killed, it\'s entire body explodes into flames, so you should be careful ;). Also, some Ynish are known to spontaneously combust for unknown reasons.

::::EDIT:::: Also, their facial features are somewhat stretched, and their hooves look as if they are decayed/decaying, like holes and shtuff in them.

Combat: Charging at you, whipping its head at you, biting, and on occasions shooting fire from its mouth. And when killed it explodes.

\"player can also wrote a book on any stuff or guide as a refence to other player also they can sell that to earn money \"

That\'s an awesome idea. But you would have to have it cost a lot to publish or something, or to get the materials, because the bookstores would be filled with junk books. Plus a player\'s book could only be sold in that bookstore where he submitted it, so that would also allow more people to submit books and bookstores to be different.
Maybe people could write about their recent adventures and stuff.

I\'d be writing books on \"How to Steal Big@$$ Swords from that Big@$$ Warrior\"

beza1e1\'s idea is thet best I think. I\'d like to be able to go to the local arena and pay to get in to see the local bully or thief to be crushed by some monster. Maybe have a design where three small arenas can be seen from one seat, therefor people wouldnt have to wait very long to recieve their punishment. I HATE the idea of having to be put in prison, who would want to have to log off for an hour because thats how long your sentence was just because you were having fun. Being evil is fun in all games, but if you\'re punished to harshly then who will want to be evil? Not me, because I don\'t want to have to wait around for an hour or two after each crime. And I think you should only be caught if you are seen by a guard or some government official, unless you could come up with a way of a regular player to show proof that he/she committed the crime.

A way of getting out of the punishment would be cool. Like paying a LARGE sum compared to your level. That way if you decide to commit a crime, you better have the money to avoid being tossed around the arena by some beast.

I am all for the smoking, I\'d prefer to see pipes, but paper and leaves are good too.

I don\'t like the vison idea, the health getting lower idea I don\'t really care for.

The only problem is, like some said, their parents won\'t let them play if they see that. I don\'t understand why, because you have people being killed, but I do know some parents are like that.

Wish list / Ketterling
« on: June 27, 2004, 10:15:25 pm »
I have an idea for like a forest of eyes, where everything living (and dead) would have like... a million eyes.

1st Monster: Ketterling

Description:
A huge (10-15 feet long, 8 feet high), long (lanky would be a better term) body with a knobbish sort of head. Its body is covered in dark blue fur. Its knobbish head is covered with eyes on top, slowly getting bigger as they get closer to his back. The eyes are oval shaped, and are black with many swirling dark colors in them. The mouth is hidden within its fur, but it has many small teeth. Its long arms get bigger as the near the hand, which seems to suddenly end, where slender claws extend. These claws are a dark red with a bit of black.

Combat: Slashing with claws (which could take a head off), beating you to a pulp... then eating you.

Wish list / Monster Spawning
« on: June 27, 2004, 03:56:52 am »
I don\'t think I\'ve seen any info on how monsters will generate.

There\'s just one thing that I think should NOT be done: making that one monster(s) spawn from the same exact spot so people can wait there for the monster(s) to come back to kill it.

The monster spawning idea is just about the only and easiest way that monster\'s can come back into the world, because actual birth would just be too complicated and then you\'d need parents but what\'d happen if the parents were killed etc. etc.. I\'ve been thinking of other ways that one could make monsters reappear but I can\'t come up with anything, so I just wish for one thing: that the monsters should generate in random spots, but in some sort of order so that they don\'t seem to just be popping out of nowhere.

I\'d really like to see some new sort of monster system. Post any suggestions if you have any I guess.

Wish list / Hlur
« on: June 27, 2004, 03:16:59 am »
Name: The Hlur

Description: They look like your everyday normal babboon (or if one would like you could just use some other animal such as an ape or chimpanzee, boy that\'d be hillarious X3). Upon closer inspection, you will be able to see that their ribs are some what deformed, bonier and larger. But usually if you\'ve gotten that close to them you\'ve already discovered why: when approached or taunted it\'s whole chest and stomache turn into a \"mouth\", with the ribs being large, skinny teeth. If one is caught by the teeth, one would then be digested by the mouth (I think it\'s obvious that the digestive system of the Hlur is much differently positioned and shaped). Besides that, it looks like a normal babboon, except those few times when one of the Hlur can be caught off guard and seen with his \"teeth\" hanging from his body, as if he is lounging.

If this didn\'t paint a good enough picture of them, I could draw you one up and send it, or you could use this ascii model XD

\\_O_/    =  |  =
=  |  =   =  |  =
    /\\
Combat: When first taunted or trespassing their territory, they lunge at their prey with the teeth spread out left to right. If this attack does not work, then they tend to fight defensively from there on, and avoids attacks by circling the character very quickly, and once it finds another vulnerable area it lunges at the prey once again. Very rarely do they attack with their arms or legs, unless their main attack is somehow impossible to use.

I didn\'t post any stats like what level characters would fight it because Darkmoon said \"- no damage/skill/attribute/other stats.\" But if I had to give you my opinion, this would a rather high level monster depending on it\'s size. Like there could be baby Hlur or elder Hlur that would be weaker. Or pregnant Hlur which could be rather immobile X3.

Wish list / Fantasy is based upon the real world. Is it not?
« on: June 26, 2004, 09:53:57 pm »
I think the gun idea is a very good idea. The first race that comes to mind are the dwarves. Hand cannons and stuff would be great. Sure it may have an advantage over that guy standing 10 feet away with a sword, but it could also have its disadvantages like say... guns are defective? Maybe you would have to be skilled in using the weapon enough so that it worked correctly. Loading time, much slower than a bow and arrow, and like Cyberchu had said, would cause lots of commotion like smoke and a potential of temporarily blinding your character. If a wizard can learn spells through studying ancient lore or however, then a blacksmith or some sort of fantasy mechanic should be able to figure out how to propel this a tiny ball from an apparatus.

People keep saying that it doesn\'t fit in a fantasy world, but isn\'t just about everything in a fantasy setting based upon something from the real world? We have swords, so in fantasy world you may have an enchanted sword. Most, if not all, monsters are based upon the real world, like if you play any other MMORPGs, they\'ll sometimes have a treeant (simply a tree given life), gray ooze (liquid...), golems (giant sized humans made out of rock, metal, etc.), and everything else. ALL BASED ON REAL LIFE.

People keep saying they\'d go play a sci-fi game if they wanted guns. I think these people have a bizarre image of guns ?_o. Just take a cannon, and make it about 5x smaller, and you have your really early, untrustworthy gun.

Though, they should be expensive and hard to find someone who makes them.

EDIT: OR if you\'d rather, maybe guns like hand cannons could ONLY be mounted onto something to be shot, not fired while holding in the air. Or maybe it would be allowed to be fired on mounts, like have some sort of special saddle put onto a horse (or whatever mounts they plan on using) to hold the gun.

Had not realized this was an old post... sorry -_-;;; *hangs his head ready to executed*
