adding numbers wont work in this game because they encourage role playing So  that would be weird to have som1 named biigimama2956 when the admins want the game to be realisticly fake

It is easier to hate than it is to love.

That\'s an odd way to phrase it...
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I\'m not sure where he saw this, but my brother told me that Planeshift wasn\'t allowing silly or unrealistic names such as PickleHead or Gator16273.

Plus those names ruin the atmosphere. Eg. You\'re attacked by a group of PKers and their names are SuperVlad12, m|k3, and ChaosBard.

That\'s exactly why they don\'t allow numbers.  It ruins the atmoshpere.

Oops, sorry Seytra I meant to say I probably won\'t be using Melbourne in CB.

I think when Fesfes said \"they\" encourage RPing, he was referring to the game creators, not the numbers in names.

The only possible excuse for a number in a name is if you\'re \"Voldark the 3rd\" or something, but even then you can spell it out or use roman numerals.

Totally my opinion.

I know :) I was going to try to find out your new name since you implied that there would be a connection to \"Melbourne\" (or something else that I could find out) by saying that I\'d would have to think. A mini-quest, if you so will. But if there will be no connection I won\'t need to try, will I?

i think that the numbers should be converted to roman numerals.. but it should go to a maximum of 10..

( i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, vii, viii, ix  and x)

that way it would still keep the name short.. and you cant have all this l33t nonsense.. (which i still dont understand)

Many thanks,
   Danny  :))

So you\'re suggesting to put roman numbers into a place where they\'ve never even heard of roman people? Bad idea, very bad. It goes against everything in the settings. No numbers at all, cry if you want to. It\'s a rule and it wont be changed.

Heres some thing.

Why not have 2 different chat boxes in game one for role-playing one for off topic chating ? Of course you can switch between both and open which ever you want.

Global chatting has been removed because it is not logical that people are to talk to other people halfway around the world. If you want to talk to someone that is far away, use /tell, or if he is in your guild, use /guild. Grouped people can use /group, and everyone else will just have to talk to those nearby. I\'ve said it so many times before, if you can\'t handle it, go make your own game. Use IRC or use MSN for all your OOC chatting. Do whatever you want, just keep stuff that is PS-related out of the game. The purpose of an RPG isn\'t for you to talk OOC with your friends, it\'s for you to play it. Not talk about yesterday\'s football match. If you want to do that, pick up the phone and call him. Do you understand what I\'m saying...?

This I don\'t get, now.
Of course, there are no roman ppl., but the numbering system doesn\'t depend on the existance of romans. If you will, you could argue that there are also no ppl. who know the english alphabet, or the arabian numbers. This doesn\'t hold water.
The roman system could easily have been brought to hydlaa by any og the races that came from other places. Aoso, roman numbers are commonly associated with \"ancient\", way more than arabian numbers.

As for the OOC chat: I can live without it, but I\'d rather have it in PS. If it\'s a taboo, I\'m probably going to use a mod for my client to have an IRC window in it, there has been this proposal somewhere. This way, the PS server would not even see the OOC traffic, so everybody should be happy.

I honestly would prefer if someone called himself \"George the Third\" or \"Lucas the Second\". This also makes people wonder who the First was, and when he played, considering the fact that Lucas has been around since PS was created and his parents don\'t play. Anyway, numbers are bad, and should only be used when talking about money or quantity of items, and such issues. They should not be included in names, not in roman numbers nor arabic numbers. It just doesn\'t make sense.

Go ahead and make such a Mod, I\'m sure many people would like it. It has even been suggested as an official addition to the game, but I\'m not sure how the devs reacted to this. I might ask them at some point.
