 a good example for a fantasy game would be \"vampire, the dark ages\" and i think 5 rings to, but those are board games, the thing is they show you the supernatural and \"fantastic\" aspects of some ancient time fo our own time line, based in mithology and they try to complete the story, but without explaning any scientific matter,the perfect example is the vampire...why is he inmortal (fantastic answer: because he revived without a soul and he is doom to live like a blood thirsty fiend of satan) thats an explanation that evades the question...because you still dont know why the vampire is inmortal,also you know he doent have a soul, but you are not really sure what a soul is, and also you know he is a fiend of satan, but who the hell is satan?!, do you know him? does he have a cellphone number?!..........( im not saying anything bad about the catholic religion, just using an example) well the thing is the fantasys evades questions by genering even more ^^, and thats how it  keeps as a  fantastic thing, because you still dont know what it is....^^ you see the first games that explain and give sense to their storys are japanese, because their way of thinking was diferent from us....we could be wandering forever without anwers to our questions about thinks we dont know(and thats because the catholic church, who ask the occidentals to believe in what they cant see)....

( to outting this more simple, wen you eat a hot dog for the first time, you think \"this thing tastes fantastic!!\", but wen you find out how was the whiner made, all the fantasy disapear, because you know the truth now...)

  now getting back to the subject... you dont need to harvest gas to make gas potions or bombs, an alquimist can make gas from brewing plants, or dissolving minerals, and a hervalist can make poison, so theres no need to add another job involving gas, because is not as simple as putting it in a bottle...lets make this example:  \" monghy, a dwarf... starts his first day as a miner, and he goes tho an iron mine, and he finds himsef with some iron, and he grabs the pick axe and takes the rock out, but a few meters away from there he hears a noise, and he goes to see wat is it.....and in the place where te noise was he stick his hear to the wall......and he says \" i found gas!! i found gas, then he grabs the pick axe, and makes a hole to let the gas out and put it in a bottle\", ..... theres 4 options from here :
1) he blows up in pieces along with moust of the iron mine....
2) he  gets scorched in 2 seconds, leaving his pick axe as a remminder he lived a nice life
3) he gets poisoned so severally than his internal organs start to blow up and then wen his eyes explode he realize how stupid he was...
4) he gets the gas, and pass out in the way out from the cave, and then he wakes ap with a pair of wings and an harp!!, and he doesnt even know how to play it

 dont under estimate the potencial of any gas in a cave, is lethal in various ways, and it expands fast, (now people is going to say, i didt mean to harvest gas with a pick axe, but any metal armor woud have the same effect than options 1 and 2, and in the case of the other types of gases, they are even more efective and unescapable, so no gas, is not that easy as you think.....

yes im saying that, because people haves twisted definitions about that two concepts, fantasy is based in  supernatural elements of mithology, and misterous crafts and arts such as sorcery...., and sci-fi is a supocition of how the world will advance some day, making speculations abut the tecnology and style of life, if you think about it, PS or WOW or FFXI, are neither of this definitions, because the fantasy genre slowly change into a mix of bouth fantasy and sci-fi....
    it change in to  speculation of another world with another history and living beings who were based in our mithology and fantasy settings, so as soon as it changes to be another world, with another races, and animals, etc, it transforms into a sci-fi, but in a different time line....


to put this in simple words:
 fantasy: what it might happened
sci-fi: what it will happen (may be)

PS, WOW, FFXI worlds: what has never happened, because is a completly different world, in with their present line age is based in our dark ages, so it no longer tries to guess what might happened, from that point its stop being a fantasy for definition, and it looks like unfuturistic sci fi, (witch for definition is also incorrect,because the definition of sci-fi is that is futuristic) by adding races with their own characteristics and habitad, and monsters and plants in a natural cycle, and the fact that magic is their science(wich by the way in not magic anymore, because they know how it works and it has become a natural aspect of their lives) so every thing is explained, and this world genearates mysteris of his own, making the fantasy have fantasy, so i repeat, is not fantasy, and is not sci-fi..... it is a new clasification, and is still called fantasy only for tradition..

Pterosaurs are expensive indeed, but i bet the Megaras will be cheaper, and dont forget this is moustly an underground world, so to go with ballons in spiked stone places is not whise, also the amount of gas needed for a ballon(even if it is only for 1 person) is to much, and you cant carry to much gas in a bottle, even if is a really big bottle,also you need loots of good leather(i mean goood leather, not some chicken skin) so it woudnt be that cheap anyway......... and the gas has nothing to do with smiths, the closest job to collect gas would be the miners( and still, a miner cant mine in places with gas, unless he wants to turn himself into a happy pile of ashes) or the alquimist, who dont have the need of collecting gas, because they can create gas from the minerals they work with......so to create a ballon in an underground place is completly unessesary, also ballons do not require special gas, they just need to heat up normal air, i mean you are seriously thinking in getting on a giant floating bomb?!, so if you take that in consideration, gas harvesting doenst fit in this world, because it haves no practical use.....yet

taking this thread way back..newpie was wrong(ps is not a fantasy game, is more like a sci-fi game, and fantasy games are dead [already for 10 years] because they had poor argumentation, and still people call the medieval games as fantasy, and that is a common mistake, to call it fantasy is more like a tradition), and i admire kuiper for telling the true about some part of ps players(also i admire him for always expocing himself to be flamed ^^).........\" that truth is: \"you cant take new ideas, and you want the game to go as you personally want\", as kuiper said, some off you are compleatly sticked to D&D, or a completly medieval setting( obsessing yourself with time lines and inventions of our world) and thats because you dont really undestand how things works, by actions an concecuences...things are the way they are because we made them like this,or because the people in genereal adapts according to circumstances, adn the ps world doesnt have the same circumstances, and did thing in a completly different way, and adapt themselfs to a completly diferent habitat (for example in our medieval times, science wass almoust completly censured by the church, and thats why there wasnt any investigatiosn or experiments in that age, unless you were powerfull enought to protect yourself, or experiment in a place he woudnt get caught, how do you think the\"evil wizard and his castle\" kinda theme was born?!.....in the ps worl sciense is a open thing and the moust respected people plactice it, also magic is not really magic, they know exacly how it works, that alows this world to have completly different tecnology) so stop comparing this world with the ps world, and accept new ideas the ones who dont (fortunatly theres more people who wants something new in here ^^)...........but  from this part is were i disagree with kuiper, the gas is a bad idea, not because is unreal(it can be real in this word with a good argument), is because this people have magic as a tecnology already, they dont have the nessesity to make new power sources(they have crystals), also they have pterosaurs, so they dont have the nessesity for gas ballons, and for lams, i think instead of colecting gas, is a much better idea to make some combustible liquid or oils by alquemy(if not, then the good old torch will do the trick^^), or some poison gas bombs by aquemy+hervalism, so to add gas harvesting in this game, is to add more of the same thing, and also this game already haves a lot of jobs, think in the potencial of all those jobs before you think in another one, also think in what the people of this world really needs, the way i see it, they have more than enought, just keep working in what we have so far, and youll realize you can increase the potencial of each one of them to make something completly new....

Well, as the idea goes we need to make some sort of compilation about the backpacks and bags thing,(also taking in consideration the post made by fish, who mainly discuss the carrying system)...


- the bags, backpacks, wallets, etc..must be reepresented grafically(in the future ^^, because the devs must concentrate in the basic things now)

-they can have the current carrying systems:
      a) by slots (like diablo)
      b) by type of item (  for example separating potions from armors)
      c) use bouth systems..

- the amount of money you can carry must be limited by the abailable space in your wallet, backpak or bag.

- wallet and small bags limitations:
    a) money: around 50 to 100 coins depending int the size of the wallet.
    b) crystals: around 1/4 of the amount you can use for coins(because they are oviously bigger)
   c) gems and other small object: depending on the size, they must remain proportional to the amount of coins you can carry in that wallet)

- medium and big bags limitations:
    a) they can carry almoust every medium sized objects.
    b) cant carry pole arms,massive weapons, and very heavy armor...
    c) they cause more encumbrance because of the unconfortable way they are carried.
   d) a emty bag or a full bag can be inside a back pack, ( or as a more complex idea...attach to the outside part of the backpack)and that way the encumbrance problem could be reduced.

- backpak limitations:
     a) they cannot carry polearms, massive weapons, medium shieds, or extremely big and heavy armor.
    b) it can have several pockets, dependig of the type of backpack..
   
-you can also put money in the bags and backpacks, in case the wallets are full.

 - items of inmediate use must not be in the backpack, but some can be in bags.

- consearning the pocket issue:
    a) you should be able to carry items in your clothe pockets as well (only if that especific clothes have pockets), but each pocket should be considered as an extra wallet, so it can only take money, crystals and other small objects.

- pole arms, shields and massive weapons must be carried in the back, with a rope of some sort,m and they must be limited to the carrier strenght (you can carry 1 to 4 spears if you are strong enought, or 1 to 3 shields if you put one on top of the other, as massive weapons, they shold be limited to 1, and if you want another you must carry it in your hands)

- belts and quivers:
     a) you can carri weapons attach to your belt, and you can put your quivers in your back.
     b) there could be some special belts( for example apotion carrying belts, or a trowing dagger belt.
     c) the quivers must be in the back (oviously)

- hidden weapons:
     a)you should be able to hide some weapons in your boots and bracers, or even in the hat
     b) the type must be limited to the logical options(small dagers, trowing blades, etc)
 
 - the animals must do all the heavy carring in this game, so if you want  to sell armors you must use the animal to carry it...but theres some problems:
    a) this would make people choose animal training more often, making the people forget about rp and do wat everybody does..
 posible solution: animal training should give you bonuses for speed, carrying capabavility, and others, but if you dont have animal training you still can have a mount or a basic carrying animal.
     b) everybody will have these animals, and soon the towns may get congested with more animals than players -_-.....
   posible solutions: buying an animal should be very expensive...you must rent a space for your animal( you just can let him roam free in town or put him in your pocket).........or you could have a animal rental service, for those who dont have enought money, and even then it would be expensive, so you must cont on your guild to rent one ^^, (and of cource the it will not be a 30 min rent)

- magic bags and carpets than alow you to carry more than normal....( it must be very rare!!!!)

- a banking system(free or not), cause the back packs limit the amount of items you can carry, and to have a house should be expensive, so a nice bank would be nice ^^


 thats it...i think.. well if you have a good argument against any of these ideas just post away^^, (if i misundestud any of this ideas im really sorry)

i dont dream anymore, cause i only sleep for 3 hours a day......and even if i dream something, it never makes sense wen i woke up and try to remmember it, cause theres to many images, and to fast(guessing 3 or 4 different time and concept dreams at the same time), also the ideas and concepts mix wildly, and i cant think of them as real because reality is much more simple..so i remmember them and undestand them, but i can explain it to other people ^__^...

and the dreams are always a way to reepresent our wishes, and for now, moust of you may have dreams about CB, cause MB was very promising, and you really cant wait to see how CB is gonna be, i personally think than CB is just a combat system alfa release, with a few monters and weapons, the really interesting thing about this release is the change of grafics and 3d models ^^, but dont think that CB is nearly close to the final product (if theres a final product, the way i see it, PS will continue to improve himself trough time, unless it fails as a project [but i dont think it will fail] )so lets make this game a dream come true for rpg players!!^_^
and lets help the Devs  in whatever they need and lets play as we should play(no power leveling, or exesive pk, or execive thiefing....lets play our role), and the dream will be one step closer

sorry what do you mean by shape by shape??

and for the smoth shading, it only takes practice and a good pencil (HB will do the trick) but moustly practice...

also i apologize because i didnt make tutorials every day as i said, but there wasnt anyone interested untill now, so im going to make more tutorials wen you are done with the ones already there, cause you are the only one interested.^^)

..... i think you are misundestanding (or may be i am -_-), but the point was to give bonus points to the working skills( at least i think it is, because gronomist didn especify in  what skill, im just deducing because of the examples she made ^^) and dont affect the possibility of learning any other skills, i mean you can still become a chef, or a butcher, but you may be a better alquimist, (because of the bonus points) but you still can decide what to be........and about the thing about \"you can choose your talents because you are 26\" thing....well is true, but the thing gronomist is talking about is the natural talents (for example, in the real life...you like playing football, and you get good at it, and then one day you play basquetball for the first time on your life, and you find out you are pretty good at it, but you still like football, so theres the decition of going for what you really like, or going for the thing you are already naturally talented.....either way you can still become good in any of those, but you will be better in the one you have talent)  also natural talent are not created by choice...is a \"natural\" talent, and you have it because your father was good at it, or your grand mother, etc...(you were born with those talents) so this will not affect any thing you want to make of your character (he can still be an exelent chef without any bonus points) but it helps for the ones who cant decide for a job, and it makes people try diferent jobs to find out in wich one are they better, and mantain the job system active and balanced ( to not leave any job behind or unused)....and moust of the people thought than the bonus points were some kind of random selection of skills, and forgot the real meaning of the word \"bonus\"...and \"natural\", and completly misundestand the point (or may be i did T_T, if so forgive me ^^)

actually, the owls claw is very similar to the cat paws, the only difference is the the owls claws are almoust completely cross shaped, the cat paws have 4 fingers in the front, and the owls have 1 in front, 1 in the R side, 1 in the L side, 1 in the back, and one in the talon ^^

Im planning to teach basic animal drawing in this thread^^,(and im not saying im better than anyone here, i just want to teach the basic musculature and bone estructure of every kind of animal here^^) this is to help the developers for their next relase after CB, this way there will be lots of monster design for them, and we can take some weith of their backs^^, and also create more diversity and originality among the game`s creatures^^, (i know im not even a WTB member, but if you want to learn i can teach the basics, and if it goes well may be some avanced monster design ^^)

(if you want to see it again PM me, or post something here, anyway ill make a compilations of all bird related tutorials later^^) anyway here is the tutorial, but without any instructions...so here is the little intructions i can give you...always draw the skeleton first, and note than the legs of the birds start in their columns..also if anyone have a question about each type of wing or claw just ask.....

the parrot uses his beack to crack nuts, and the wings are bigger because(of cource) he is heavier, also he haves a different skeleton, and his neck is long to reach the nuts in the trees......

thanks, ahh by the way, this boar back legs are bigger, so it looks like a weir kangoroo ^^, this goes perfect with the horn, cause he can take a bigger impulse to ram, even if he dont have space to run, he still can take a little jump and strike with his horn at very short distance ^^, and also...wen he makes a ram while running..he makes a much bigger impact, because all weith goes to the head, and he takes much more speed...but also..because of not having strong front legs, he cant defend himfelf very well (i mean ..he cant absorb impact with his horn)


and here is something you may not like, is just to weird ^^

heheh, interesting idea ^^, but as long the models show they bags and wallets they are carrying..im ok.
now the burry the items in the ground idea is good, but it should be a time limit for the items to remain buried^^
